Warning while running pre-req checks for installing 11g binaries
I am trying to install 11g binaries on my box for upgrading my production db from 10.2.0.4 to 11.1.0.7. I have dev and Prod running from the same box. I already upgraded my dev instance to 11g and its home is /opt/oracle/product/11.10/dev.
I created another path for production as /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/prod so that I can install the 11g binaries for production in there. When I run the installer, the pre-req checks gives me two warnings -
Checking PATH environment variable...
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: The installer has detected that the PATH environment variable includes other ORACLE_HOME locations in it.
Recommendation: Restart the installer after removing other ORACLE_HOME locations from PATH environment variable.
========================================================
Checking LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable...
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: The installer has detected that environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes other ORACLE_HOME locations in it.
Recommendation: Restart the installer after removing other ORACLE_HOME locations from LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.
I ran ther pre-req again after unsetting the PATH and HOME variable. But it still gives me a warning on the PATH variable. What should I do to avoid this warning?
If I were you, I would have defined the HOMEs as "/opt/oracle/product/dev/11.1.0" and "/opt/oracle/product/prod/11.1.0" - that would eliminate the errors you are facing. It is still not too late - you can install the prod binaries as "/opt/oracle/product/prod/11.1.0", then later on "clone" the OH from "/opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev" to "/opt/oracle/product/dev/11.1.0" and delete the former.
You could also simply clone "/opt/oracle/product/prod/11.1.0" from "/opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev" rather than running the the install/patching process all over again.

JAEHYLEE (R11i AOL) Adpatch fails with Pre-req check
Goal
이미 적용한 patch를 Adpatch가 다시또 Pre-req로 재차 확인을 요청하는 경우가 발생할 경우
Cause
adpatch는 AD_SNAPSHOT_BUGFIXES table의 bugfix_id에 record를 가지고 있어여 하나 여기에 데이타가 없는 경우에 prereq check를 잘못할수 있다
fix:
adadmin을 사용하여 Maintain snapshot information을 수행을 권고 드립니다.
Perform the steps :
adadmin : Maintain Applications Files --> Maintain snapshot information
--> Manage Snapshots within this Application System.
You must run AD Administration "Maintain snapshot information" once
for each APPL_TOP before you can apply any patch that contains a "
compatible feature prereq" line on that APPL_TOP. Running AD
Administration "Maintain snapshot information" for an APPL_TOP
completely populates the APPL_TOP's current view snapshot. This complete
information is required for the automatic prerequisite patch checking feature
to give correct results.

How to run Pre-Upgrade Check without upgrading License Server
Hi
How can I run the 8.8 Pre-Upgrade Check without upgrading to the 8.8 license server?
The Wizard forces me to upgrade it and if I upgrade it, the current 2007 does not run anymore. I want to check my DB's with the Check before upgrading any components and 2007 needs to stay alive.
Thanks
FranzHi Franz,
I would suggest you to check your DBu2019s in your test environment. Please take a backup of all DBu2019s from your live environment and restore them in your test environment once you will have enough free space.
Please always test the database upgrade in the test environment before doing it in the production environment.
For more information regarding Business One installation and upgrades on 8.8 version please refer to the Administrator's Guide 8.8, which can be found on the Documentation Resource Centre on the Portal. http://service.sap.com/smb/sbo/documentation -> Documentation Resource Center for Release 8.8

Error while running a query-Input for variable 'Posting Period is invalid
Hi All,
NOTE: This error is only cropping up when I input 12 in the posting period variable selection. If I put in any other value from 1-11 I am not getting any errors. Any ideas why this might be happening?
I am getting the following error when I try and run a query - "Input for variable 'Posting Period (Single entry, mandatory)' is invalid" - On further clicking on this error the message displayed is as follows -
Diagnosis
Variable Posting Period (Single Value Entry, Mandatory) is used as a lower limit (X) and an upper limit () in an interval selection. This limit has the value #.
System Response
Procedure
Enter a different value for variable Posting Period (Single Value Entry, Mandatory). If the value of the other limit is determined by another variable, you can change its value also.
Procedure for System AdministrationOK.
Well, if the variable is not used in any interval selection, then I would say "something happened to it".
I would make a copy of the query and run it to check if I get the same problem with period 12.
-> If not, something is wrong in the original query (you can proceed as below, if changes to original are permitted).
If so, then try removing the variable completely from the query and hardcode restriction to 12.
-> If problem still persists, I would have to do some thinking.
If problem is gone, then add the variable again. Check.
-> If problem is back, then the variable "is sick". Only quick thing to do, is to build an identical variable and use that one.
If problem also happens with the new variable, then it's time to share this experience with someone else and consider raising an OSS.
Good luck!
Jacob
P.S: what fisc year variant are you using?

Hi,
I am working on j2EE technologies for past 2 years and planning to move to SAP MDM. Will it be easy to move to MDM(i understand there will be a learning curve, but still!) or do I need to fulfill any pre req's to learn it. If so, what will be those?Hi,
if you are planning to become a MDM technical Consultant, then your experience in J2EE will prove very helpful. you can easily explore and develop using Java API and web services.
If you have little bit of ABAP, XI and Enterprise Portal, that would be plus point. but it is not mandatory, you can learn MDM without having good knowledge of these.

Pre-requisite check for client deletion.
Dear Experts,
We need to delete a client(Customizing client) from our Production system, this client is an additional one apart from our Productive client.
Could anybody please enumerate the pre-requisite checks necessary to carry out before going ahead with deleting the client using SCC5. Any Rfc's to be taken care off, logical systems etc.
Thanks in advanceHi,
In addition to what Sunny said, Please check the below links as well in case if you would have not gone through them:.

I have a .jspx page that renders taskflows as dynamic regions. When I execute this exception is what I get.

#### Cannot run application UI due to error deploying to DefaultServer.
[Application UI stopped and undeployed from Server Instance DefaultServer]I was facing a similar error, the problem was because of adf-controller.jar. My error was :
java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access method oracle.adf.controller.v2.lifecycle.Lifecycle$Phase.<init>(Ljava/lang/String;)V from class oracle.adfinternal.controller.faces.lifecycle.JSFLifecycle$JSFPhase
The jar's 10g edition has (1st part)oracle.adf.controller.v2.lifecycle.Lifecycle$Phase and 11g edition has (2nd part) oracle.adfinternal.controller.faces.lifecycle.JSFLifecycle$JSFPhase. So I created my own jar extracting both jars at one place using the following command
jar -cf adf-controller.jar .
This solved my problem.
Hope you get the idea. The best way to face these type of errors is opening the archive and checking for the files for which the compiler is complaining.
