WARNING with latest kernel: at net/mac80211/driver-ops.

Hi. i'm running the latest kernel and having many kernel oops like the attached, any ideas? is this a problem already in upstream? should I open a bug report in archlinux? I'm thinking to switch to LTS.
TIA.

unload nvidia module and then load did.
rmmod nvidia && modprobe nvidia
Next time pay attention of pacman message:
In order to use the new nvidia module, exit Xserver and unload it manually.

  • Is there a way to have AUFS support with latest kernel in Arch repos?

    http://aufs.sourceforge.net/ says that linux kernel 3.9 has support for AUFS but then why does Arch doesn't have it enabled in the kernel present in repos?

    WonderWoofy wrote:
    As Arch provides near vanilla packages, there is nothing to enable.  AUFS is not part of the kernel, it is a patch.  You can find some AUFS patched kernels in the AUR, and I think linux-pf has it as well.
    Otherwise, you can use the unionfs-fuse package in the official repos.  But just be aware that because it is a fuse based filesystem, it might not be as fast as you want/expect.
    Thanks for bringing it to notice. I thought that it was part of official kernel.
    I need to run docker on 3.9 kernel that's why I need it. In 3.8, my laptop has issues with ethernet not being detected after sleep so I don't want to use the package given in AUR.
    A guy named timebomb has provided a diff against 3.9 here https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/aufs3/ . I was just hoping if we could have a PKGBUILD.
    In the meantime, I'll try linux-pf kernel. Thanks

  • [SOLVED]bbswitch doesn't work with latest kernel(3.2.11.1)

    And due to that, my graphics card Nvidia is always draining power and heating up. How can I fix this?
    UPDATE:
    The only urgent fix for this is to downgrade to linux kernel 3.2.9.1.
    But, I don't like this fix as I installed arch linux because I want to use the latest software.

    Yes, the dkms versions work fine with the new kernel

  • Devtools component makechrootpkg broken with latest kernel upgrade

    I've been using makechrootpkg from devtools, inorder to compile packages in a clean buildroot. This tool relys on unionfs to maintain the build root. With the latest stable kernel updates, unionfs has disappeared. I understand that this is inorder to accomodate aufs2. It does not seem that aufs2 provides similar or compatible features as unionfs, atleast not enough for makechrootpkg to function properly.
    Is anyone else using makechrootpkg? Did you have to downgrade kernel, or can unionfs be built seperately and live in peace with aufs2(I'm not using aufs2 for anything that I know of). Will the fuse-unionfs from AUR do the trick to get makechrootpkg function, or will this also conflict with aufs2?
    How are you guys building clean packages without makechrootpkg?

    Allan wrote:It fixes that bug ...
    On further examination, it appears that the HEAD for makechrootpkg still only is using unionfs.

    By no means take this as a complaint. Just a FYI I'll happily patch locally via the directions from arch-dev-public thread.

    P.S. I do think I'll still update to the version of makepkg from git though, for those other cool features that have been added

  • Ralink Rt73 - No wlan0 interface with latest kernel *

    So, I update my kernel and I can no longer use my wireless card. It's not listed with ifconfig even though I'm loading all the necessary modules, those being: rt73usb, rt2x00usb, rt2x00lib
    I have no clue where I can go from here, besides downgrading the kernel...

  • Problems with catalyst on latest kernel update [SOLVED]

    Hi, after the latest kernel update, I haven't been able to install catalyst. I was using catalyst-test, which is outdated now. And with this new kernel, the driver is not working anymore, so I'm using vesa driver for now.
    I'm trying to install the current catalyst package through yaourt, and I get a conflict. The conflict is with catalyst-test which I can't uninstall because of this:
    checking dependencies...
    error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: google-talkplugin: requires libgl
    :: lib32-libgl: requires libgl

    :: mplayer: requires libgl
    :: qt: requires libgl
    :: wxgtk: requires libgl
    :: xine-lib: requires libgl
    :: xorg-xdriinfo: requires libgl
    If I try to remove these packages, I get more dependencies unsatisfied...
    The solution I can think of is start uninstalling every one of these packages from the unsatisfied dependencies, write them down, and reinstall them once I get the ATI driver correctly installed again.
    Any other ideas on how to fix this?

    Videocard:
    01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
    Also, everytime I try to reinstall catalyst through yaourt, it downloads the executable from ati.com. Is there a way to avoid this and check if downloaded version is up to date instead of downloading it every time?
    Thanks in advance!
    UPDATE: Ok, I used pacman -Rdd catalyst-test to remove the package, now I'm trying to install catalyst...

  • ATI display driver fails to work with new kernel

    Hi,
    I've just upgraded from
    OEL kernel-2.6.18-194.11.3.0.1.el5.x86_64
    to most current
    OEL kernel-2.6.18-194.11.4.0.1.el5.x86_64
    and got the problem with ATI display driver. Whenever I perform kernel upgrade, I have to recompile vendor-provided ATI display driver downloadable from AMD/ATI site, because system ATI driver, provided by OEL/RHEL as kernel module, doesn't work properly (too slow). I did that hundred times and never had a problem. This time the problem is that after upgrading to new kernel and recompiling the existing ATI display driver (Revision 10.8), it doesn't work anymore, even though it worked perfectly with previous kernel. I cannot even start X11 (glibc problem reported with stack traces!!!). The newest ATI display driver (Revision 10.9) "works" with new kernel, but display is awfully slow making any serious work impossible. It is even slower than system-provided ATI driver.
    I am pretty sure the problem is in new kernel. As I have no backup of old kernel files and couldn't download the previous OEL kernel files from ULN, neither binary nor source (the files do not exist on ULN anymore, only the recent kernel files), I downloaded the previous kernel source from ftp.redhat.com, compiled the kernel and downgraded to it, recompiled ATI display driver, and everything works properly and fast as before upgrading. I can remember that ULN site used to have all kernel versions prior to actual one and cannot understand why Oracle dropped this practice. As I have an ULN account, I certainly want to have OEL patched kernel.
    My question is: does anybody know how and where I can download the previous OEL kernel-2.6.18-194.11.3.0.1.el5.x86_64 binary rpm files or at least source rpm file?
    Maybe Sergio or Tommy can help?
    Thanks in advance.
    NJ

    I have experienced the same with Ubuntu some years ago - specific feature (hack?) that was implemented in the kernel was deprecated. This was used by the display driver for an onboard Intel graphics chipset. Beryl (which was subsequently merged with Compiz) turned into a horribly slow experience. As far as I recall, a subsequent kernel patch "fixed" things as a number of users were affected, of which many complained very loudly.
    Anyway, I think the lesson here is that OEL is not really the correct distro to use for a desktop. A broken ATI driver for the OEL kernel? Does not really feature in the scheme of things for OEL support. Oracle Grid/RAC/Enterprise/Standard Edition do not care. Oracle's application servers (Apache, Weblogic, etc) do not care. Etc.
    Sure, GUI desktop access to an OEL server is needed (like when running dbca or an installer) - but that can easily and effectively be done using vncserver for example and running twm.
    You may be able to fix/work-around the problem with the current kernel update.. you may be able to roll back the update. But what about the next time when some other component does not work after a patch or an update? Surely it is a lot less stressful and frustrating to rather use a desktop distro, like Ubuntu, instead?

  • Adobe Photoshop extremely choppy with latest Audigy2 ZS driv

    I recently installed the latest SB Audigy 2 ZS drivers for Windows XP. If i work with Adobe Photoshop CS and listen at the same time to MP3 via Winamp 2.95, drawing with the mouse in Photoshop is extremely choppy. If i move the mouse fast in circles, nothing is drawn unless i move slowly. Curves appear jaggy instead of smooth like it was before. If i stop the music everything's fine. But as soon as music is played tracking the mouse in Photoshop is choppy. This never happened before.
    It took me some time to figure out why this happens.
    I used this Winamp installation for years without problems. Also there was never a problem with Photoshop. Mouse and its driver also didn't change for years. Then i remembered that i installed the latest Soundblaster drivers just recently.
    I deinstalled the driver and now use the same as before, dated 2004-0-8. Works nice without choppiness.
    For me the newer drivers are useless. They don't seem to be well tested.

    Yes that is normal.  I have no problem with CS6, No lag or hesitation.
    A tip for you if your creating the mask using a copy of a color channel. Set the brush blending mode to "Overlay" This will protect the mask Black and White areas. You will only be able yo paint in gray areas of the mask.   When areas turn 0,0,0 Black or 255,255,255 White they become protected too. Use a Wacom tablet soft brush low opacity and many strokes

  • HDMI sound disapears with latest nVidia driver

    Hey! I'm on a dv9266ea and when using Windows Update and installing the latest nVidia Driver (released in December, 2008, driverid=20233116) I no longer get any sound on the TV through the HDMI-cable when I'm watching movies, showing presentations or whatever. And yes, I do change to hd-audio. ^^
    Only way to get it to work is to downgrade to the really old 7.15.10.9815 driver from February 27, 2007 and I really think I could get so much more out of my computer if there were a way to be able to use the latest driver without loosing the sound when running though HDMI-cable on the TV.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Nope, it still don't work. Graphics got better than ever and I could run games better again but as soon as I plugged in the HDMI-cable, changed sound to SPDIF and started the TV it became the same as after December 2008 nVidia-driver: No sound what so ever.
    It's especially annoying since this laptop has been really faulty all the way from the start. Been sent to repairs 2 times already and gotten new motherboards. Last time they had it for reparis they 'killed' all Quick Launch buttons and refused to take it back for a 3rd repai, claiming it were me and not them (even though I called the same day I got it back) who broken it and they just said warranty were out.
    Anyways, I've tried the Dec 2008 graphics-driver as well as the April 2009 one provided in the reply above and they don't work. Everything get's better but sound output when in using HDMI disapears and only seem to work with the really outdated February 2007 driver.
    I also tried updating the sound with the Conexant HD Audio Driver from May 2008 as provided above too, but that didn't work either.
    There gotta be other who has the same problem. I just re-set the laptop to original state the other week so it's almost completely HP's own settings. It seems wrong I have to choose from either be able to use the laptop only for work with presentations and movies OR for private use such as games...

  • No "Fiery Features" with latest driver from Canon only "Printer features".

    No "Fiery Features" with latest driver from Canon only "Printer features".  iRC5235's using 'OSX installer PKG'.  Installation completes successfully.  Can successfully add the printer(s).  Just cannot access the "Fiery Features" just "Printer Features".  Other users are working fine.  The driver is "Canon iR-ADV C5200s-B2 PSV10US".  Already have removed, restarted and reinstalled numerous times - no progress.  It should be noted that this user may print to the devices, just cannot access any of the "Fiery features" which are desired.  Any thoughts?  Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    If the user is only getting Printer Features, then it would suggest that the wrong PPD is being selected when the printer is being added. For example, the PPD's for the internal Canon board will show Printer Features in print dialog. So while you mention the B2 driver is being used, are you sure it was selected when the print queue was created?
    To check, you can open System Information (Applications > Utilities) and select Printers in the left column. Then in the top right pane, select the iR ADV C5235 with the B2 attached. The bottom right pane will give information about the print queue. The entry PPD will show which PPD is being used and it should show as you have shown above, ie "Canon iR-ADV C5200s-B2 PSV10US".
    If the correct PPD was selected then another possible cause is a problem with the Fiery Features plugin. Via Finder, navigate to
    /Library/Printers/Canon/PS3/PDEs/EF005626
    and check that you have the file "EF005626(FF).plugin". This is the Fiery Feature plugin. If it is present, then maybe this user is having access issues to this folder/plugin.

    >
    Let me see if I understand this right
    1. You are using an example from several years ago
    2. The example is for code that captures the LOGON to the database
    3. You don't mention anything about whether you got the LOGON notification but mention that you terminate the program abnormally.
    4. You use a jar file that has been obsolete for over 10 years
    5. You use the latest version of the Oracle database (which the jar file does not support)
    Did I get that right?
    And this surprises you?
    Why on Earth would you do this? You should be using an example and jar files that support and are supported by the Database and JDK that your are using. When you don't you can expect to have problems and many of them you will not be able to resolve.
    You don't provide the JDK version that you are using but there's a good chance it is the wrong version for this hodgepodge also.
    1. Use JDK 1.6
    2. Use OJDBC6 jar
    3. Use examples for Oracle 11g
    Here is the official Oracle JDBC page that shows the Oracle DB versions supported for each of the JDBC drivers available and also describes the JDBC jars and what JDK versions they support.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/jdbc-faq-090281.html#02_01

    JDBC 9.0.1 drivers can talk to RDBMS
    11.1.0
    classes12.jar
    Classes for the Thin and OCI drivers when using a Java 1.2 or 1.3 VM.
    >
    And here is the PL/SQL Packages and Types doc that has an example in Chap 18 DBMS_ALERT (not for LOGON)

    >
    Examples
    Suppose you want to graph average salaries by department, for all employees. Your application needs to know whenever EMP is changed. Your application would look similar to this code:
    DBMS_ALERT.REGISTER('emp_table_alert');
    <<readagain>>:
    /* ... read the emp table and graph it */
    DBMS_ALERT.WAITONE('emp_table_alert', :message, :status);
    if status = 0 then goto <<readagain>>; else
    /* ... error condition */
    The EMP table would have a trigger similar to this:
    CREATE TRIGGER emptrig AFTER INSERT OR UPDATE OR DELETE ON emp
    BEGIN
    DBMS_ALERT.SIGNAL('emp_table_alert', 'message_text');
    END;
    When the application is no longer interested in the alert, it makes this request:
    DBMS_ALERT.REMOVE('emp_table_alert');
    This reduces the amount of work required by the alert signaller. If a session exits (or dies) while registered alerts exist, the alerts are eventually cleaned up by future users of this package.
    The example guarantees that the application always sees the latest data, although it may not see every intermediate value.
