Warnings, line number in code?

I am getting this warning messages. How can you tell where are they coming from(line numbers, etc...).
I am new to Java and I was wondering if there is a debugger for java like dbx for C.
Warnings are:
bin/java cardtest
Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>Escape,_Key_Cancel" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>Home,_Key_Begin" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>F1,_Key_Help" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: Cannot convert string "Shift<Key>F10,_Key_Menu" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>F10,Shift_Key_Menu" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>KP_Enter,_Key_Execute" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: Cannot convert string "Alt<Key>Return,Alt_Key_KP_Enter" to type VirtualBinding
Thanks,
Nestor

Error messages sometimes include line numbers, but even when they do, those line numbers can be misleading.
The easiest way of debugging is to include a final boolean DEBUG, and use it to determine print statements. Since the boolean is final, at compile time, if the boolean is set to false, then all statements (such as print statements) that are within the if(DEBUG) blocks are ignored and will not negatively affect your program in any way. If it's on, it enables you to print out valuable information to the screen to track the progress of your application as it goes. This also works wonders when your program is not throwing Exceptions or errors, but just isnt acting the way it should.
There are debuggers out there... just do a search on Google for "java debugger". Or you can write your own with the specification at http://java.sun.com/products/jpda/

  • Line number in a *.class file, please help, advanced language guys

    dear all,
    i use c++ to open a *.class file and try to read line number of code in the file, i have 2 questions:
    1. i read line number in a method successfully, but i can not understand the meaning of start_pc, following are one of those data, please explain:
    s = start_pc,n = line_number
    s , n
    0 , 123
    8 , 125
    23 , 126
    29 , 127
    34 , 129
    38 , 130
    2. i can not find where the class's line number are, i.e. class start line and class end line, or field's line number.
    does these info exist inside a *.class file?
    thx for any light

    jdb gets line number of fields from class file, not
    source file definitely.I'm not really sure how you tested this, but here's my test, and JDB definitely gets its listing from the source file.
    First, I created and compiled class Tester:
    public class Tester
        public static void main( String[] argv )
        throws Exception
            Tester x = new Tester();
            System.out.println(x.toString());
        int     x;
        int     y;
        private Tester()
            x = 0;
            y = 1;
    }Then, I ran this in JDB. Note lines 16 and 17 in the output from "list":
    H:\Workspace>jdb Tester
    Initializing jdb ...
    stop in Tester.mainDeferring breakpoint Tester.main.
    It will be set after the class is loaded.
    runrun Tester
    Set uncaught java.lang.Throwable
    Set deferred uncaught java.lang.Throwable
    >
    VM Started: Set deferred breakpoint Tester.main
    Breakpoint hit: "thread=main", Tester.main(), line=12 bci=0
    12            Tester x = new Tester();
    main[1] list
    8    {
    9        public static void main( String[] argv )
    10        throws Exception
    11        {
    12 =>         Tester x = new Tester();
    13            System.out.println(x.toString());
    14        }
    15
    16        int     x;
    17        int     y;
    main[1] quit
    Tester@b82368Then I edited the source file. Again, look at lines 16 and 17:
    H:\Workspace>jdb Tester
    Initializing jdb ...
    stop in Tester.mainDeferring breakpoint Tester.main.
    It will be set after the class is loaded.
    runrun Tester
    Set uncaught java.lang.Throwable
    Set deferred uncaught java.lang.Throwable
    >
    VM Started: Set deferred breakpoint Tester.main
    Breakpoint hit: "thread=main", Tester.main(), line=12 bci=0
    12            Tester x = new Tester();
    main[1] list
    8    {
    9        public static void main( String[] argv )
    10        throws Exception
    11        {
    12 =>         Tester x = new Tester();
    13            System.out.println(x.toString());
    14        }
    15
    16        int     a;
    17        int     b;

    Just setting up iCloud on my iMac 10.9.2, my problem is when trying to sign out/off from iCloud it comes up with a verification code that is being sent to my land line, I'd changed the numbers in my Apple ID and they show as changed but the land line number still shows as number that the verification code is being sent, I prompt "Don't have access to this phone" and that's no help at all.  The only way I can sign out /off from iCloud is to uncheck everything that I wanted to keep in the cloud????
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Skip the iCloud sign in for now.
    Once you reach the home page, go to settings and sign out of FaceTime and Messages.  This should also sign you out of iCloud.
    Go to iCloud in settings and sign in with the correct Apple ID.
    If that does not work
    Skip the iCloud sign in
    Go to Apple ID.apple.com and sign in
    Change your Apple ID to the old one
    Delete iCloud account on your device with the old Apple ID and the same password.
    Go back to the website, change your Apple ID back to the current one. You will receive an email to verify the account. Verify first.
    Sign into iCloud on your device with the correct Apple ID and password

  • Enter the Section code for line number '000'

    Dear Consultants,
    While posting the Travel Expenses, The system generates posting documents but gives error as "Enter the Section code for line number '000'". Please advise me about the activity to which this error is related to. I am giving Document type as AB.
    This error is seen only if the Expense Type is related to some Vendor account like Expenses by company (Service provider's vendor a/c) or Advances paid to the employee & Expenses incurred by employee (Employee Vendor account)

    I found that some validation criteria were maintained in Tcode OB28. We can edit those validation criteria to exclude Travel Management. OR it was suggested by FICO to use posting key as 34 instead of 31.
    This solved my problem.

  • How to read current line number in function module sourrce code?

    Hi All,
    How to read current line number in function module sourrce code?
    regards,
    Anuj

    If you have new editor you would be able to see the line number.
    Or in the Dump screen - there is a button called Debugger - click that you would be able to see the code where dump has occured..  you would be able to find the line number from there.
    To get the new editor with line number , you need to change the settingsin SE38.

  • Java Comiler - How to find out the Number of lines of Executable code

    Hello,
    Is there any option we have or could have to get the "Number of Lines of Executable Code" while we run the java compiler?
    Technically Java is an interpreter. So in case the term is incorrect, please excuse me.
    Since the compiler anyway traverses through the Java files, it is easy and correct to get the number from the compiler rather than having any external tool calculating the same.
    It should remove the comments, blank lines and take care of java single sentence written in multiple lines.
    Any suggestions or help is highly appreciated.
    regards,

  • How to get line number in JAVA code?

    Hi,
    What method can I use to return the current line number of my coding?
    Assuming I'm at line 10 and I want to do something like System.out.println("I am at line number " + ????);What method should I use to get "10"?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

    If you run Java in Dos prompt, a new line of result is displayed at bottom and the screen scroll. There is no line number in that way. Other language like C have something like that.
    If you use Java Swing, you can display with x, y coordinate option but it is graphic mode.

  • Javadoc Comments Begin and End Offset, Line number etc...

    Hello Everyone,
    I was wondering if there is a method that return the begin and end offsets, and line number of source code comment. I know this is possible to get the line number for Doc, MethodDoc, ConstutorDoc etc... with the position() method. I was unable to get the locations of comments corresponding to the actual source code. Also, I found that when asking for the position of constructors the value returned was that of the class, is this a known bug?
    Thanks in Advanced,
    Nick

    Just out of curiosity, what do the folks at sun use for Java Parsers?They didn't need to go too far. The Java Parser must be a part of any Java compiler itself! Therefore, it is a part of any JDK. Obviously, they have some internal API of their Java parser and, I guess, Javadoc uses it to build the Java code model provided via the Doclet API. But Sun had never published the full API to their Java parser. (At least, I don't know such.) Although, it would be very useful indeed...
    FYI, a parser for a high-level programming language (like Java) is a software module that inputs a program written (by humans) as text in that language and converts it into some object representation (model) "understandable" to computer. That object representation must be a sort of tree representing all the language constructs found in the program. Typically, that tree is accessible via a certain API, which I call here a Parser API (although, other terminology may be used).
    Other software modules may use that object representation of the program for various purposes, for instance:
    - To generate an executable machine (or byte-) code by it
    - To transform the initial program in order to optimize it (this is used by compilers) or to do other things (e.g. refactoring)
    - To generate documentation (that's what Javadoc does)
    Besides generating the program object representation, another job of a parser is to provide diagnostics about various syntactical errors found in the initial program source (a well as possibly some semantic warnings).
    A parser is rather sophisticated piece of code. To develop it properly, one needs to learn first some theory about this, e.g. a formal grammar that describes the given programming language and how to deal with it. I know, there have been attempts to create some universal parsers that can be adjusted to parse any programming language (within a certain range) by specifying to them some formal grammar of that language. That topic was particularly beloved by university guys, so there must be many scientific articles about this.

    Well, if you are developing an Eclipse plugin, have you considered working with Eclipse' Abstract Syntax Tree (basically an object model for Java code) instead of the Doclet API?Interesting stuff... Looks like this might be that very Java parser API I am talking about here.

         * StyledDocument, attribute changes should be applied automatically
         * in response to inserts and removals.  Since we're already
         * listening for those, this method should be redundant, but YMMV.
        public void changedUpdate(DocumentEvent evt)
    //      update(evt);
         * If the edit was confined to a single line, invalidate that
         * line's height.  Otherwise, invalidate them all.
        private void update(DocumentEvent evt)
          Element map = text.getDocument().getDefaultRootElement();
          int line = map.getElementIndex(evt.getOffset());
          DocumentEvent.ElementChange ec = evt.getChange(map);
          viewChanged(line, ec != null);
    }

  • Line number in JEditorPane

    I would like to know the line number of the current caret position in a JEditorPane. The getLineOfOffset(int offset) method in JTextArea offers exactly what I want. How come there's no method to find out about line number in JEditorPane?
    As a workaround, I copied the Swing code from the JTextArea.getLineOfOffset method and used it in my class which extends from JEditorPane. It seems to work fine, but it feels like a bad hack. Will the JTextArea code always work in JEditorPane? Any alternatives? I just think that it's tedious and inefficient to deal with StringTokenizer or manually searching for new line charactors on CaretEvent's.
        public int getLineOfOffset(int offset) throws BadLocationException {
            Document doc = getDocument();
            if (offset < 0) {
                throw new BadLocationException("Can't translate offset to line", -1);
            } else if (offset > doc.getLength()) {
                throw new BadLocationException("Can't translate offset to line", doc.getLength()+1);
            } else {
                Element map = getDocument().getDefaultRootElement();
                return map.getElementIndex(offset);
        }

    It's not a hack. Any document used with a Swing text component is supposed to have the same basic element structure, i.e., a default root element whose children represent logical lines. It's just that with some kinds of documents, like HTML, line numbers don't really mean anything. But JTextArea is hard-coded to use a PlainDocument, which means a logical line always represents a paragraph (or a line of code, or something meaningful), so it made sense for it to provide those convenience methods.

  • Find Line Number in Text Member

    I would like to drop in a line of text after a specific phrase in a text member. To find the right place to drop the text, I must first determine the line number the specific phrase text is located. Now, I can use a REPEAT to walk through each line until it is found, but there must be a more elegant way. The code "Offset" is great for finding the first character number of the specific phrase, but I don't know how to glean the line number from that.
    Currently this is how I do it...
    repeat with xLineCount = 1 to 100
        if textDoc.line[xLineCount] contains "<specific text phrase>" then
          put RETURN & RETURN & "<new text pasted>" after textDoc.line[xLineCount]
          exit repeat
        end if
      end repeat
    Can anyone give me a more elegant approach this?

    A more elegant approach might be to use a regular expression, but I'm not sure I understand your requirements well enough to make a sensible recommendation.
    You could try the following JavaScript handler and invoke it like:
    tMember.text = jsReplace(tMember.text, "<specific text phrase>", "<specific text phrase>" & RETURN & RETURN & "<new text pasted>")
    function jsReplace(inStr, strFind, strReplace){
      // error check input
      if(typeof(inStr)      != "string") { return inStr; }
      if(typeof(strFind)    != "string") { return inStr; }
      if(typeof(strReplace) != "string") { return inStr; }
      // search-and-replace
      re = new RegExp(strFind, "g");
      return inStr.replace(re, strReplace);
    However, this will place the pasted text immediately after the search phrase and not at the end of the line. It is possible to do this with a regular expression, but I'd have to dust off my copy of Friedl's "Mastering Regular Expressions" to craft it for you and I don't have either the time or inclination at present.

  • XML Parsing Error: no element found Location:Line Number 1, Column 1:

    Hi,
    i have a servlet code in which i am using bouncy castle encryption algorithm , if i tried to run that servlet on embeded weblogic server than my servlet works fine without error.
    but if i deploy same Servlet code on SOA domain console than i get following error.
    XML Parsing Error: no element found
    Location: http://localhost:7001/Encryption-PGPEncrypt-context-root/pgpservlet
    Line Number 1, Column 1:
    Please help me friends...

    Hi Chandra,
    Based on my research, the error message is only generated by FireFox when the render page is blank in Internet. For some reason, .NET generates a response type of "application/xml" when it creates an empty page. Firefox parses the file as XML and finding
    no root element, spits out the error message.
    Also, based on your description, the other sites are opened correctly, the issue only happened in Central Administration(CA). This means the SharePoint services are working fine.
    Since this issue only occurred in the CA, it might be due the application pool for the CA is corrupted. Please try to restart the application pool for the CA to resove the issue:
    1. Open Internet Information Service(IIS)
    2. List the application pools
    3. Select the application pool used for the CA
    4. Stop it, and then start it again.
    Note, if the application pool is running in Classic mode, please change it to be Integrated mode.

  • Finding the right line when Oracle says an error happens at a line number.

    Hi,
    Were using Oracle 11.1.
    I use TOAD 10 to develop.
    When I run a procedure sometimes I'll get an error message saying "an Oracle error happened at ### line number"
    When I go to that line number, that's usually not where the error is.
    I'm not talking about an error where they say it occurs at line 1.
    It'll say line 124 and in the TOAD editor that will occur in the middle of a cursor or something.
    I'm pretty sure that's not where the error actually is.
    Is there any way to find out where Oracle is talking about?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    In triggers, the first DECLARE or BEGIN statment is counted as line 1, even though there are often several lines before that.
    In other procedures, the line numbers are relative to the beginning of the relevant CREATE statement, e.g. "CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY ...".
    Where these statements are in your files has nothing to do with the error messages. For example, if you have a package spec that goes on for 50 lines, then 10 lines of comments, and then a package body, all in the same file, then the line numbers that you see for the pacakage body will be 60 lower than the line numbers from your file. (You may want to use separate files, each starting with a CREATE command on the fitst line, for just this reason.)
    Oracle often gives multiple error messages for the same error. For example, if a cursor definition begins on line 50, and you mis-spell a column name on line 55, you may get a message saying "statement ignored" referencing line 50, but you'll probably get another (more useful) error referenccing the particular problem on line 55.
    Of course, some errors can't be detected right away. For example, if you forget a single-quote at the end of a string literal, the compiler will think that all your subsequent code is part of that string literal. Not unitl it encounters another single-quote, perhaps at the beginning of another string literal, dozens of lines later, will it know that any error occurred.
    Those are the main pitfalls I know about.
    If you have an example of something that confuses you, post it. Shorten the code as much as possible such that it's easier to post, but still gets the same error. Post the complete error message, too.

  • Reset file name and line number in preprocessor

    We are using Sun Studio 12u1 on Solaris x86 10u9.
    For one of our large projects our make file copies many C++ source files into one large allsource.cpp file. This results in significantly faster compilation and better inter-procedural optimizations.
    Unfortunately, when the compiler generates warning or error messages they refer to allsource.cpp. Also when it comes time to debug, dbx is looking for debugging information for the original source file instead of looking for allsource.o.
    On Windows (MSVC), we use the #line directive to reset the line number and filename so that the error messages point to the correct line and number, and so that the debugger knows that the debugging information for myfile.cpp is actually in allsource.o.
    Does the Sun compiler have anything similar to the #line directive?

    To reset the preprocessor to the start of a new file:
    #1 "filename"
    where filename is the name or complete path name of the file.
    To change the line number within the current file:
    #N
    or
    #line N
    where N is an integer
    Example:
    % cat z.cc
    struct S { X x; };
    #1 "/foo/bar.h"
    Int I;
    #500
    Float F;
    #line 1000
    Double D;
    88% CC -c z.cc
    "z.cc", line 1: Error: Type name expected instead of "X".
    "/foo/bar.h", line 1: Error: Int is not defined.
    "/foo/bar.h", line 500: Error: Float is not defined.
    "/foo/bar.h", line 1000: Error: Double is not defined.
    4 Error(s) detected.BTW, you might get a similar improvement in compile time by using precompiled headers.
    The -xipo option provide inter-procedural optimization across compilation units. Refer to the C++ Users Guide for details.
    We seem to have a bug in the Forum software. My original source code and the compiler output have double quotes ("...") but they show as single quotes in the code brackets.
