Warnings when loading dimension members - no members loaded

Hello,
I did the mapping and the interface for loading members for a planning dimension (from csv file), run the 'execute' and have two warnings (on step1 and step7), however no members are loaded - warning for step7:

Hi,
I wouldn't worry about the warning messages.
In the IKM are you saying you set the options
LOG_ENABLED     Yes
LOG_ERRORS     Yes
Did you also set up a location and file for the logs
LOG_FILE_NAME
ERROR_LOG_FILENAME
Cheers

  • Richtx32.ocx not registered when copying dimension members

    Hi,
On trying to copy dimension members in the member selector I get an error saying that the Richtx32.ocx is not registered.  I read through some of the other threads and it is suggested that I copy the file from the server - I checked and the file doesn't seem to exist there either.  We have BPC 5.1 SP06 installed with SQL Server 2005.  Once this error occurs I have to close down BPC completely before it will work correctly again.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated,
    Kind Regards,
    Fiona

    This worked for me:
You need to copy Richtx32.ocx  from a working client machine to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and register it.
    To register:
    1. Go to Start/run and type Regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\richtx32.ocx
    2. Click 'ok' to the message that the file was registered successfully

  • Choosing Dimension Members / Creating Data Load Rule Files

    Hi
Let me explain this problem using an example. Let's say I have a dimension table called "Product" and its has ProductId, ProductCode & ProductName fields, and a Fact table with ProductId and Value columns. As you can see ProductId has beed used to link to Fact table. I want to display ProductCode as dimension members (ProductName as Alias). I have no problem creating this scenario using EIS. But when I am not sure whether I could do this with EAS. I tried but I cannot get it working. Does anybody know to do this in EAS please? Also, how to create the data load rule for this problem using ProductId?
    Regards
    Chandra

You can do this using a SQL load rule.
One rule to build your dimension, simply select statement on the one Dimension table.
Second rule to load data is going to require a Select statement with a join to pull the product name from the dimension table and the data from the fact table linked on the Product id.

  • Loading Dimension members from SQL Server 2005 to Essbase Outline.

    Hi Everybody,
I need to load dimension members from SQL server 2005 to Essbase outline:
    Option 1:
I can retrive members from SQL to text file and then using Rule files load dimension members into outline.
    option 2:
Using SQL Interface in System 9.
    Option 3:
I can use ETL tools (ODI, Informatica etc)
I used Option 3 frequently and familier with, But i would like to use option 1 & option 2. If anybody has used option 1/2 kindly advice with correct steps
I would be very greatful for any help.
    Version: 9.3.1
    Regards
    Kumar N

    Hi Kumar,
    For Option 2:
You have to create one DSN for the particular database(SQL Server) from where you want to retrieve the data.
Then Open Data Prep Editor and From File Menu Click on Open SQL and it will ask for the DSN connection details.
Enter the DSN details and write the query....

  • Warnings over the calculate members in BPC 7.5 NW sending data

    Hello,
We get warnings over the calculate members on input schedules when we send data to the data base.
The input schedules were built in the BPC NW 7.0 and afterwards we migrated to the BPC NW 7.5 version.
In case we build a new input shcedule from the scracht(in NW 7.5), sending data works fine without warnings over the calculate members.
Is there any missed produre after the migration from 7.0 to 7.5 SAP BPC NW we have to apply to solve this issue?
Or we should rebuild all the dinamyc templates after the migration process?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Thank you for responding but we had already reviewed CALC property in calculated and base members and those are correctly.
The problem is that when we were in the 7.0 version, the load process of the data was right, but after the migration to the BPC 7.5 version, we tried the process data using the templates made in the version BPC 7.0 and it seems like the application takes wrong the CALC property.
If we want to send only one register to the database, it takes that register and all his parents whose have to be automatically calculated by the application.
    Thank you.

  • Dimension Members in BPC is not updating

    Dear Friends,
I have trasfered the values of the 0GL_ACCOUNt to the account dim of my appset in BW using the transformation and i could see the values in the BPC display dimension members.
But simillary i have created the transformation and uploaded  the values of the 0Move_type to the flow dimension and am trying to view the same in the BPC but am not getting any valuess in dimension member list of the Flow dim.
I too closed and reopened the admin console. What could be the reason, kindly suggest.
    Thanks
    Prem

There is a task in the Action Pane from BPC Administration to Refresh client dimension members.  Try it.  Also try to save and process your dimension again.  Finally, hate to state the obvious but make sure your DTP loaded to the right infoobject which was generated from BPC.  Do you see the master data in BW from RSD1?

  • Number of dimension members

Hi! :) Can anyone advise on what are recommendations on the max number of dimension members for each HP dimension taking into account that the cube can be alone and can be partitioned? Thanx! :-)
    Edited by: user10129034 on 29.05.2009 0:24

I will take a stab at this...just went to Essbase boot camp and the question you ask is a loaded question.
Because of its multi-dimensional architecture and its data storage in 'blocks'...the answer is 'it depends'.
One of the critical issue with dimensions and its members is 'Is the dimension Spare or Dense'?
Best practices is to have minimal amount of Dense dimensions (which makes up your block size) than of Spare dimensions (which determines the amount of blocks you have)
In my training this question was asked from a DBA used to transactional database and asked what the max is.
The instructor indicated there really isn't a limit, clearly defined.
I thought I saw something in the essbase admin but I am unable to find it if someone could add it would be great
so if you have several dimensions or dimensions with several members you need to determine their density which in turn dictates the system performance and functionality.

  • Dimension & Members properties and Usages

    Hi,
Could you please share any writeup or document on the Dimension & Members properties and Usages.
I am going through the admin document but wanted more clarified explanation with example.
If anyone of you have such kind of document please share.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi David,
    You are correct.
Properties are nothing but attributes of Dimensions and they describe a Dimension. There are some predefined properties.Members are values of a Dimension.
Maintain dimension properties- it will add the properties for the dimension and also some default properties are created while adding new dimensions.
Maintain dimension members-Here we can load master data,ie giving values for the fields depending upon our requirement.

  • Sorting Attribute dimension members

Other then reloading attribute dimension members in a different order. Is there a possbility with ODI or the SortMember.cmd utility to perform such a task?
I ask since I know presently while reloading the attribute dimension with ODI it drops the latest member to the bottom. This is not the order I need it in. I tried to mess with the load in ODI and still no fix. I tried to use the SortMember and it only appears to work on all dimension but currency, period, and years as it reads in the planning admin guide. This is for 11.1.2.1.
Does anybody have any input? If so please reply.
    Thanks,
    DjSmeadly

It is one area that has never been addressed so sorting attribute members is not so easy, as far as I aware the sortmember utility does not work on attribute dimensions.
    Cheers

  • Deleting dimension members

We have an AW with cubes refreshing every day. Fast solve of these cubes with incremental set of data finishes usually within an hour or two.
Our recent requirement needs for us to remove some old facts as well as a few dimension members. The facts can be cleared but we noticed that deleting dimension members (using synch load) is causing a full cube solve due to changed relations. With the amount of data existing in this AW, full solve takes about 2 days to complete. Deleting dimension members for which we never ever loaded any facts also causes the same result as above.
I was wondering if there is any way we can delete these dimension members without triggering a full cube solve.
Another question is if it is possible to update dimension primary keys inside of the AW?
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Database Version 11.2.0.3

These types of questions have been answered in the past by David Greenfield.
There are two ways to delete a dimension member through commands.
(1). OLAP dml command "REMOVE_DIMENSION_MEMBER"  explained here:   http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/olap.112/e17122/dml_commands_2042.htm#OLADM2692
    OR
    (2). dbms_cube.build  command:
    exec dbms_cube.build(q'! "TIME" USING (DELETE FROM DIMENSION WHERE MEMBER = 'APR-2011') !');
Take a look at this old post, where David Greenfield explained it.
    https://forums.oracle.com/message/9426946
There is no way to rename a dimension member in a standard-form analytical workspace.  There is  "MAINTAIN RENAME" olap dml command, but it will not work with dimensions created through AWM.  You can add the new dimension member, then copy cube data associated with old/existing member to the new member and then delete the old member.
For cube copy data example, take a look at these old (15-Feb-2011, 16-Feb-2011 and 17-Feb-2011) posts by David Greenfield:

  • Dump ASSIGN_TYPE_CONFLICT when loading into Cube

    Hi,
since an few weeks we have sometimes a problem when loading data from DSO to cube.
After transport a changed cube the first dataload into the cube dumps with ASSIGN_TYPE_CONFLICT.
We always activate all transformations and all DTPs which belong to the changed cube and also transport them.

  • Automatic creation of new dimension members

    Hello all,
Bit of a long post so please bear with me.
I am about to embark on only my third BPC project after having spent several years implementing solutions using BusinessObjects Planning (formerly SRC software), and am still struggling to come up with an elegant solution to the fact that I cannot save data to dimension elements unless they are already explicitly defined in the dimension member list (presumably due to cube architecture).
Those of you who have used BOP/SRC will remember this as unvalidated dimensions.
I find having to first go to admin and pre create members before being able to use an input schedule to save data against them is very restrictive.
I'm hoping one of you guys can help me improve on the workaround I currently use.
For example I have a 'bid submission' input schedule that is used by the user to submit bids for increased budget, capital or revenue, capturing basic costs and commentary. The user selects a bid number from a combo box which is populated by using an EVLST formula to read in pre created dimension members. I have to save a flag to the db which I then use to exclude already used numbers when feeding the combo box on future submissions.
Which works ok but if I have a hierarchy on bid number based on say, cost centre, how do I get around the fact that number ranges have to be pre-assigned to cost centre, Cost Centre A = 1 to 1000, Cost Centre B = 1001 to 2000 etc. What happens if I go over the 1000 on Cost centre A? I then get non contiguous ranges per cost centre.
Is it possible for the bid number to be dictated by the user when they start to fill in the bid submission? Or give the impression that they are?
Or if the client has a bid number format that cannot be pre created? Eg incorporating things like year or person etc. This information could be save separately but not within the bid number. Is it possible to save data to dimension property columns from an input schedule?
    Hope you guys can help
    Many thanks

  • How to auto-update of script logics after adding new dimension members?

    Hi Experts,
Just wanna ask if BPC has a functionality that would automatically update/validate and save my script logic whenever I add new dimension members. I've added new PL accounts but they are not automatically added to my calculated BS Net Income. I had to re-validate and save my logic for it to be included in my logic and for the amounts to be computed correctly.
    Thanks,
    Marvin

    Hi Marvin,
There is no functionality as such. we need to configure the script as and when we make any changes in the dimension members.

Sorry you can't do that. as a work around you could create attribute dimensions for the parent and the could cposstab them, or split the dim into two dimensions
