WCS 4.0 Renaming MAPS

Hi all,
I've a trouble renaming the maps ( campus, buildings or floors ) on the WCS.
When i open the maps I renamed, i see the correct name ( on top of the page ), but when I open the summary page for all map types, i see always the old name.
I tryied to clear database and to reload server, but nothing; any idea/suggest ?
Many thanks
Luigi

Many Thanks,
but i already knew that documents. My problem isn't how to create campus/bulding/floor but how to rename them and to have the right upgraded view.
When I create a campus ( i tried also with a new installation and an empty campus ) and i give it a name, if i change that name ( let's say name-old ) in a new one ( name-new ), if i select the map link i see always the old name.
If I click on name-old to open that campus, i see on top page name-new.
It seems like when i change the campus name, the WCS doesn't upgrade all databases..
regards
Luigi

  • WCS Error - Position of Map Conflicts with Parent

    Hello All -
I have a large scale drawing of a floor plan for a building.  I have added it to my campus and started adding APs.  When I saw the prediciton model, I realized I had forgotten to properly scale the drawing.  When I attempt to scale it, I get an error message stating:
"Error:The given Width, Height or the position of Map conflicts with the parent(Building or Campus) Width 846.2 and Length 655.3. Please increase the size of the parent(Building or Campus) through the edit page and/or make sure Map is positioned correctly within parent through map edit page."
I really don't know how to fix that.  I have increased the size of the building to match the 846.2/655.3, but then the box showing the building is HUGE on my campus map (Google Earth shot) and I still get the error.
    Regards,
    Scott

Ok, so I was trying to size the building to EXACTLY what the error was specifying for the required new size, and it MUST be larger than the dimensions of the largest floor.  I made it a bit bigger, and now things look good.  However, the green square around the building on the campus map is HUGE and way out of proportion for my campus Google Earth map.  How do I fix that since the size of that square represents the size of the building?  Do I artificially make my Google Earth map larger?  If I do that, you will hardly see the pinpoints for the locations on the Google Earth map.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • WCS Windows Server Rename

Our WCS server is about to be moved to a new Windows domain. As part of that move, the server name must be changed as well. Will this name change cause problems with the license? If so, does anyone know how to handle this with Cisco (besides the obvious "open up a TAC")?

Yes, you will have to open a TAC case to have a new license file generated with the new server hostname.

  • Help with Map Editor in WCS 4.1.91.0

In WCS version 4.1.91.0 is there any way to edit maps other than through the web interface? I'm trying to lay in my "thick walls" and I'm finding the resolution in the web interface to be down-right horrible. Since I'm in a hospital environment I have lots of walls to draw but I keep having to refer back to my original jpg to locate some of the walls as they do not appear on the low resolution web interface editor. If anyone has any ideas on editing maps in WCS I'd love to hear them.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Scott,
The rumor from Networkers 2007 (OK, OK: Networkers at Cisco Live!) was that WCS version 4.2 would allow import directly from Autocad .dwg files without the mess of first saving as bitmaps.
    A snippet from: www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7305/prod_bulletin0900aecd806b7f8a.html
"AutoCAD Map Import Support: AutoCAD images can be imported into Cisco WCS and used as maps. Users can select the layer of the AutoCAD image to be used as the WCS map when the image is previewed. Cisco WCS maps support three import file types: JPEG, PDF, and AutoCAD."
And remember, WCS version 4.2 will "fix everything this time" ;-)

  • Error with RF prediction in WCS

    Hello,
recently I've installed a Cisco WCS server. In the MAPS section I have added a map (outdoor area) and I have dragged the two access point in the map(1 RAP and one MAP) to see the heat map of the signal. The problem is that for the first 2 days it worked fine but now it give me the following error:
Error: Some of the AP's RF Prediction is not yet computed. Please go to the AP placement page and place the APs properly, specify the correct antenna and then recompute the RF prediction.
I tried to do all the suggested actions but I had no changes.
My WCS version is the 4.1.91.0 and it's working on a virtual machine (that I have restarted many times) with a trial license that expires in the next 15 days.
    Thanks

Try removing both APs from the map and saving. Next, go back into the map an assign the APs. If they still do not map then I would look at the traps on the controller and make sure that the AP is fine. I would also look at performing an on demand refresh from the controller to the WCS. You can do this from the management page in WCS.

  • Add Cube to a Mapping

Hello, I had created a cube and then I deleted it and recreated.
But when I tried to add it to the mapping I got this error message: API0408: within same namespace domain one object has already used the name EPISKEUES.
EPISKEUES is the name of a dimension. How can I fix this? Thanks.

    Hi,
This is what i have understood
    Line: -----
    Step 1 : CRAETE
    Dimension -- EPISKEUES
    Mapping -- EPEMBASEIS
    Cube -- EPEMBASEIS
Step 2: CUBE DELETED AND RECREATED
CUBE - EPISKEUES (SAME AS DIMENSION NAME)
    Step 3: RENAME CUBE
    CUBE - EPEMBASEIS
    -- NOW --
    DIMENSION --EPISKEUES
    MAPPING - EPEMBASEIS
    CUBE -- EPEMBASEIS
Step 4: RENAME MAPPING -- DIDNT WORK
    1. CHECK RECYCLE BIN IF CUBE is deleted. Clear it from recycle bin. Also check if its in the module
    2. Try Renaming the dimension.
    Its simple
Mapping Name != Dimension Name != Cube Name
    Hope this will help.

  • Migrate WCS 7.0.172 to Prime 1.3

    Hi all,
I need to migrate from WCS to Prime in order to support WLC 7.4.
I'm a little bit confused about license migration procedure, I have read that it is necessary to move trought Prime1.2, so the license code that I need is:
    R-W-PI12-M-K9
WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime   Infrastructure 1.2 Migration
    R-PI12-BASE-K9
Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Base   License and Software
    L-PI12-LF-1K-LIC
Prime Infrastructure 1.2 -   Lifecycle - 1K Device Lic PAK
    L-PILMS42-1K-M
Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 -   1K Device Upgrade Lic
    L-W-PI12-1K-M
WCS to Prime Infrastructure 1.2   Migration 1K Device
How I can obtain .lic file for Prime from license present on my WCS installation?
The export from CLI procedure on WCS, export also the actual License?
Where is the procedure? I think there are some steps on the machine and others on the Cisco site
NOTE: I also change the position of the software from a virtual machine to another one
An additional request, in some document I read that it is possible to migrate directly to Prime1.3, is it true?
    Thanks
    Valerio

Has anyone seen an error message when trying to import WCS 7.0.230 maps into Prime Infrastructure 1.3.0.20?

  • Co-located IAS and WCS

I am installing unified wireless setup based on 6500 WiSM card. I will also install MS IAS server, and additioanal PDC just to authenticate wireless clients ONLY. I am also trying to install WCS server also on the same server. What would be the possible isseus with this scenario?

The thing is, it will work, but it will not be supported if you have issues and you call TAC. Also, depending on how many users will be authenticating to IAS or if you are using IAS for othere radius features, you have to look at the utilization on the box. WCS with multiple wlc, maps and other stuff really might slow the box down. If you are willing to try it, I would suggest putting IAS on first and configuring that, then image the box and in stall WCS and setup that. If you are fine with performance and you have no issues, then you should be good to go with that setup.

  • How to add page count of PDF to the file name?

I need help with an applescript that can look at a pdf, determine the page count in file and then add that value to the end of the file name in front of the .pdf
    ex.
    original name "map with pages4c.pdf"
    renamed "map with pages4c_48.pdf"
Any help would be appreciated or suggestions on how this could be done.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hello
    That's quite simple.
Just replace this chunk of code -
    tell application "Finder"
    set n to f's name
    set f's name to (n's text 1 thru -5) & "_" & p & ".pdf"
    end tell
    with -
    if 10 > p then set p to "0" & p
    tell application "Finder"
    set n to f's name
    set f's name to (n's text 1 thru -5) & "_" & p & ".pdf"
    end tell
By the way, if there are 10000 files in directory tree, I'm afraid Finder is too slow to get files list. In order to avoid Apple Events timeout error, at least, replace this line -
    tell o to run
    with -
    with timeout of 3600 seconds
    tell o to run
    end timeout
Or try the following script, which employs find(1) instead of Finder to get files list.
    All the best,

    --SCRIPT3
    on run
--main((choose folder with multiple selections allowed) as list)

set ff to my ff & t's paragraphs p0 thru p1
    if p1 = -1 then exit repeat
    set p0 to p1 + 1
    end repeat
    if ff = {""} then set ff to {}

  • MMM1064 & VLD-1141 Errors

I have several mappings that are producing an "MMM1064: Value SADI_DW_LOCATION not valid in domain DB_LOCATION2" error when I try to validate them. In this scenario, "SADI_DW_LOCATION" is my defined location and I have no idea what "DB_LOCATION2" is. These mappings have validated and deployed successfully in the past but will not now. I have checked and rechecked all the location information and nothing has changed or is incorrect (at least that I can see).
To add injury to insult, if I just try to deploy one of the aforementioned mappings, I get the following.

I have found this error message elsewhere and tried some of the recommendations to no avail (i.e. copy and paste mapping, recreate mapping, rename mapping, etc).
Each of the mappings are generally simple. One source table, a few lookups, an expression, a constant, and one target.

I've just encountered my first MMM064. The text:

The error seems to be related to a nested pluggable map that I've built.
I get the error when I try to add my (standalone) nested pluggable map to an existing map. When I do the same for a new map I do NOT see the error....
    Hope this helps...

  • NCS Admin User Group / Permissions

Recently made a migration from WCS to NCS.  Users were carried over from WCS to NCS.  Users in the admin group were able to rename APs in WCS now cannot rename APs in the NCS.  Admin user group has all permissions available for various actions all checked.  Root user can still rename APs...
Any ideas? Or is a TAC case a better option...

Can you please be more specific?
What are the permissions of "/media/dd500" (like "drwxr-xr-x root:root" or something?) What permissions do you change it to? What are the permissions of the files and folders inside that directory (generally speaking)? What are you trying to do (create a directory, edit a file...) that causes you to know that it "does not appear to work"?
Lastly, I see that the partition is formatted as NTFS. Does Linux support writing to NTFS partitions nowadays?
EDIT: By the way, I think all of this would be a lot easier to do from the command line instead of from Thunar.

  • Autocad version import question

According to the rel notes for WCS 4.2, you can now import autocad files.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/release/notes/WCSRN4_2.html#wp44483
"AutoCAD map import support-AutoCAD images can be imported into Cisco WCS and used as maps. Users can select the layer of the AutoCAD image to be used as the WCS map when the image is previewed."
Does anyone know what versions of autocad that WCS is compatible with?
    Thanks

I had the same issue and opened a TAC case. This is a known bug with WCS servers that have IE7 installed. Here is the bug description and the workaround that worked for me:

  • How to Rename a Topic ID in Map File to Avoid Conflict with Another Program?

    Robo 8 HTML:
Can somebody assist me in understanding how to rename a topic ID in my map.h file?
An application programmer informs me there are nine topic IDs (shown below) in my project map file which conflict with predefined names of constants/functions from the Visual Studio Libs program and, is requesting I change the names of the topics listed below to resolve topic ID conflict in order to enable F1 call for these topics.
    #define Open    59
    #define Save    60
    #define Print   63
    #define Cut     72
    #define Copy    73
    #define Paste   74
    #define Clear   75
    #define Status  81
    #define Substructure  139
Can I simply alter the topic names and retain their associated map numbers in <Create/Edit Map ID> dialog to resolve the map file conflict with Visual Studio Libs program functions? Or, is there more work involved in changing a topic name in a map.h file?
Any assistance with this question is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    robert

    Hi,
Simply renaming the TopicID's in the .h file won't work. The TopicID is used in the alias file (projectname.ali) to link a map number with a topic. Also, you can use either TopicID's or map numbers to call the help. (Using TopicID's only works for WebHelp afaik.)
If you use map numbers to call the help, you can rename the TopicID using the mentioned dialog. No problem.
If you want to change the ID from the files, you have to change both the .h file as the .ali file. No changes to topics needed.

  • MSE location problem in WCS map

    Hi,
I've Installed a MSE context aware services   6.0.103 and WCS  6.0.196.0 plus loaction license in a Campus with 4 WLC  in 2 buildings, every buildings has 3 floor, i configure the WCS and associate the campus to MSE engine, I syncronize it with controllers and  It works, but only for the ground floor of the buildings, on the other floor there are many clients but they are not visible on WCS map, I can view associated clients only on the groundfloor maps, and  i check the properties of every floor but they are the same.
    any ideas?
    thanks
    Regards

    Hello,
Are the groundfloors all covered by APs on the same controller(s) and maybe the other floors covered by APs on different controllers?
Or are the same controllers having APs on either the groundfloor and other floors?
I am asking this because we may be running into a situation where the MSE doesn't correctly communicate with the controllers managing APs (and clients) on the floors where you can't see anything.
Also, is the MSE license having still free slots, or is the license limit completely consumed by all the clients in the groundfloors?
This can be verified in WCS under
Services > Mobility Services > [your MSE] > Context Aware Service > Administration> Tracking Parameters
After these first checks, I'd also verify the following:
    1. The client on a specific floor should show up on the WLC under
    show client detail
    2. The same client should show up on WCS through a search for its MAC address.
Is the WCS pointing you to a specific map location for this client?
    3. In WCS, under Monitor > Maps, do you see a client count higher than zero for those floors where you can't display clients?
    4. In the floor map view of WCS, could you please confirm that you checked the "Clients" box and that in its properties you also selected "Show All Clients"?
I understand these may sound like obvious steps, but I'd prefer not to neglect anything.
    Regards,
    Fede

  • Unable to rename folders and files on SharePoint mapped drive.

I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 and have mapped a drive to my SharePoint "Shared Documents" folder.  I am able to open, save, and delete files and folders.  However, I am unable to rename files and folders.  No matter how long of
short of a name I use I get the following error:
"The file name you specified is not valid or too long.  Specify a different file name."
    I've mapped the "S" drive to http://hostname.domain.com/Shared Documents/
I am a SharePoint Admin, and have confirmed that if I do not have this problem if I log into SharePoint with IE.  I have also confirmed that others are not experiencing this issue. Also, this issue did not exist on my previous installation of Windows
    7.  Therefore I assume this is a config issue.
Also, in "My Computer" it shows the mapped SharePoint drive as a "FAT" filesystem.

Did some more testing. From my mapped drive, I can create new folders and files, and delete them.  I created a folder in Windows Explorer, when I tried to give a name it gave me the above error and saved the folder as "New Folder".  No matter when
I try, I cannot rename this folder unless I log into the SharePoint interface.
Next, I tried this from the command line.  I moved to my S drive, and did a "mkdir test" and was able to create a folder named test.  Next I tried to "rename test testing" and received the following error:
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
The full path is S:\test.  If I do a "mkdir testing" I am able to create the folder.  If I try to rename the folder in Explorer, it gives me the "file name not valid or too long".  I'm obviously well under the 260 character limit, so there
has to be something wrong with the fiel name, or drive mapping.
Also, when I "dir" the S drive it tells me the drive has no label.  "Volume in drive S has no label."
I'm having the same issue with files. I can create a file, modify it, delete it, but can't rename it.
