WCS won't start after Linux Upgrade

Hi,
I've just upgrade RH to v5.0 and it all seemed to go fine except WCS won't start. I was running v5.0.56.0 on RH v4.0 (I know it's not supported) on a WLSE appliance, which ironically seemed to be fine. Now I get this....
Database server is running
Apache server is stopped
WCS is registered, but not initialized.
The Server seems to be unavailable. The possible reasons are
1. The server is not running yet.
2. The server is hanging.
3 The server has crashed.
If the server has crashed or is hanging
Please report the issue and follow the instructions to restart it.
1. Run StopWCS to stop all WCS processes.
2. Run StartWCS to start the WCS server.
3. If the server still fails to start, or you still get this
message, then reboot the machine.
Any suggestions will be most welcome.
Thanks
Scott

Hi Lucien,
Thanks for the suggestions - unfortunately I can't get dbadmin to do anything;
[root@nlcwcs1 bin]# dbadmin ?

[root@nlcwcs1 bin]# DBAdmin ?
-bash: DBAdmin: command not found
[root@nlcwcs1 bin]# dbadmin.sh
-bash: dbadmin.sh: command not found
[root@nlcwcs1 bin]#
Am I in the right directory?
[root@nlcwcs1 WCS5.0.56.0]# cd bin
[root@nlcwcs1 bin]# dir

If I am, can you tell me how to use these commands please?

  • [BDB/OpenLDAP] OpenLDAP won't start after BDB upgrade

After upgrading to BDB 4.6.21-1, my OpenLDAP-server doesn't start anymore displaying some error about environment mismatch. When upgrading BDB I saw the message I needed to upgrade the database, but that didn't work because the environment versions were different. According to JGC in http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=31375, where somebody has a similar problem, the following should be 100% working:
    1) /etc/rc.d/openldap stop

    2) slapcat -l /root/ldif
I made backup yesterday using this method
    3) pacman -S openldap

  • Won't start after recent upgrade

Started the recent upgrade. A depiction of the apple tv and usb cable connected on one end to tv and other end pointing to iTunes icon then showed up on the tv screen. Let run overnight and still will not connect. I am pretty sure battery in remote is fine; remote was working fine before the upgrade.

    The update has failed.
You need to connect to iTunes on a computer with a cable.
Using a USB to microUSB lead (that Apple annoyingly don't include!), try to restore the AppleTV software to current version software using instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367
Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 or AppleTV 3.

  • Apps won't start after iOS5 upgrade for ipad2

Hi, after upgrading my ipad with the latest iOS. when you clck on any apps..it starts and then minimize..when you double click on the home buttom..you will see the apps there. Please advice.

If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
Otherwise have you tried closing all apps completely and then seeing if they work when you re-open them ? From the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • IPad won't start after iOS7 upgrade and reset

    Hi,
I have just tried to upgrade to iOS7 through WiFi. No luck. So I upgraded via iTunes. When it finally was finished, I tried to turn on my iPad, but it wouldn't. It gets stuck at the Apple logo with a loading bar just under it. I did a full reset on iTunes and I can only get to the loading bar (which won't load).. Any suggestions?

I was experiencing the same thing.  This article worked for me, hopefully it will help you.
    http://ipad.about.com/od/iPad_Troubleshooting/ss/What-To-Do-When-Your-Ipad-Wo-No t-Turn-On.htm
Hold both the home button and the wake/suspend button down at the same time. You should see the Apple logo appear on your screen after holding these buttons down a couple of seconds, which means your iPad is booting up and should be good to go in a few more seconds.

If I start mpd directly with mpd --no-daemon as root or via sudo it starts without any problems.
Group 92 is audio and the user mpd is part of that group. Do you have any ideas what is going wrong here?

Systemd now starts the service as the mpd user by default (see /usr/lib/systemd/system/mpd.service). You can restore the previous behaviour by creating /etc/systemd/system/mpd.service.d/user.conf with the following content:
    [Service]
    User=
(will run mpd as root, which then has the capabilities to su to another user)
Though I'd recommend that you just let systemd handle the permissions setting rather than mpd. Comment out the user/group declarations in your mpd.conf and change the User declaration to the user/uid you want. Add in a Group declaration if you want too, though I don't think running processes as the audio group is a Good Idea™.

  • ITunes Won't Start After Airport Upgrade

After running the latest upgrade to Airport Utility and upgrading the firmware on my Airport Extreme, I lost all access to my iTunes library that is housed on a Drobo attached to the Airport. When trying to start iTunes, I get error "13005".
I normally access my library from both a Windows XP/SP3 box and a MacBook. I have tried the following steps:
    1) deleted genius.itdb and extras.itdb.
    2) Repaired iTunes install.
    3) Removed and reinstalled iTunes.
    4) Plugged the Drobo directly into the Windows box (no airport or USB hub).
Still no love. I was able to rebuild my library via my MacBook, and I created a Windows XP user account which can successfully run iTunes and see the library once I rebuilt it. However my main XP account (with Admin access) still cannot start iTunes.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Mac Mini Won't Start after RAM upgrade

Hi, I just tried upgrading my RAM from 1GB to 2GB on my Intel Core Solo Mac Mini. When i hooked everything back up it wouldn't start up. So I replaced the original RAM and the same thing happened. I get to the gray apple screen with the gray spinning wheel and then it just shuts off. What could be my problem? Are their any solutions?

Welcome to Apple Discussions, though I suspect the circumstances could be better!
It's not unusual for 'bad RAM' to cause a system to fail to boot, but the disturbing feature of your problem is that when the previous memory is reinserted, the system continues to fail. What makes it worse is that you describe the system shutting off after failing to boot - that is not a common symptom of something simple like bad memory, and may mean that in the initial upgrade, something was damaged or dislodged, or not reconnected correctly.
I would open up the system again, and disassemble it sufficiently that you can reseat the original RAM which was working correctly prior to the upgrade, then check that everything is connected correctly internally, and the CPU heatsink is firmly attached. If that doesn't result in the system working, or at least in different symptoms such as being stuck on the grey screen but no longer shutting down, then I would look for an Apple store in the area and make an appointment at the genius bar for them to have a look - that would not bear a cost in the first instance for them to give their opinion.

    The next step for you:
Check the running processes via cmd line (pdshow -brief).
Check that all processes are running as expected.  If they are then take a look at what is keeping ports open on your box (netstat -anob).  From above, the reason may be an application occupying a port LMS needs.  Also check the Windows error logs.

  • Kdm won't start after xorg7 upgrade

I can run startx and things startup okay (except no background color in icewm on desktop), but I can't get kdm to start.  My /etc/inittab is configured correctly and hasn't changed.
    Any ideas?
    Darin

Did you upgrade to KDE 3.5.1 at the same time as upgrading to Xorg 7? Maybe try a different mirror if your present mirror hasn't been updated yet with the new KDE version, that should fix your KDM problem.
A temporary solution could be to make a symlink pointing from /usr/X11R6/bin/X to /usr/bin/X (ln -sf /usr/bin/X /usr/X11R6/bin/X , remember to create the /bin directory in X11R6 if it isn't there)

  • G4 with 10.2.1 (or maybe 10.3.9) won't start after software upgrade

A little history...bought this PowerBook G4 new from Fry's (no + testimonials will be provided!!!). Since machine was floor model they did a clean install of 10.2.1. Discs they gave me were not the same OS version, however. The computer did work until an out-of-the-blue Kernel crash a year later while on vacation (suddenly wouldn't recognize anything USB). Fry's sent it to Apple. It was returned with 10.3.9 on it and 10.2.7 disk. When I upgraded my scanner software (w/o trashing the previous version of the software which was for system 9.2), the computer worked until I turned it off. I've since purchased $129 Disk Genius, tried every command-S, option key, fsck -fy, reset the PRAM and, who knows what else). When I had the Disk Genius in I was able to go into the disk utility and repair the permissions, etc. Then I guess I did the ultimate no-no...tried to reinstall a lower system than was now on the computer (since the only disk I had was for 10.2). The computer, through all of this starts up (well, not really)...it chimes...and then the little dial (not rainbow one) just goes around and around and around. Any ideas anyone? Thanks so much!
    PowerBook G4 15" 1GHZ Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hi, 411Shirley - 10.2.7 was a transitional software release from early October, 2003 that only shipped with three Mac models I am aware of: the 1 GHz 15" PowerBook; the 1.33GHz 17" PowerBook and a particular G5 tower. The machines that shipped with this version of OS X cannot boot from any earlier versions of the OS, and this version of OS X was not available to users of other Mac models. These users could only update from 10.2.6 to 10.2.8.
The 15" Aluminum PowerBook looks like this:
There was also a 15" 1GHz Titanium PowerBook (TiBook) which looked like this:
The TiBook was a dual-boot machine. That means that it could be booted into both OS 9 and OS X. It shipped with OS 9.2.1 and OS 10.2 preinstalled.
If the machine you bought came with 10.2.1 preinstalled, then you have a TiBook, and this machine cannot run 10.2.7. You will be able to install a system from the original disc(s), and upgrade to 10.2.8, however.
To reinstall 10.2.1 (or whatever version of OS X is contained on the original discs that came with your computer), you will need to boot from that disc, erase and reformat your hard drive and install 10.2.1. You will not be able to install OS X 10.3 or OS X 10.4 without purchasing them as retail packages.

  • [SOLVED] Gnome 3 won't start after kernel upgrade

I have upgraded to kernel 3.0, and now I am getting the following error when I try to start gdm:
    ** (gdm-binary:936): WARNING **: Failed to acquire org.gnome.DisplayManager
** (gdm0binary:936): WARNING **: Could not acquire name: bailing out
Can anybody explain what the deal is?

theseus, thank you for the reply. I thought you can only start gnome using some kind of display manager. If I understood you correctly, I did 'telinit 5' and then 'startx' with the folowing results:
    INIT: Switching to runlevel: 5
INIT: cannot execute "/usr/bin/xdm" <---- This line repeats 10 times
INIT: ID "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
But when I did 'who -r' I got this:
    run-level 5 2011-08-16 02:26 last = 4
So I tried to start X wich resulted in the following:

Also, arch is installed in a virtual box, so I didn't install any video drivers like nvidia.
    Thanks

spiritwalker, please do not post pictures of this large size: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … s_and_Code
In this specific case you could have made use the log files in /var/log and posted the relevant info in [ code ] tags.
Besides, this way you will get used to work with logs, which is mandatory in Arch, imo.
