WD ABAP: selecting a tree node from program and scroll to it

Hi guys!
I am using a tree in Web Dynpro ABAP. I would like to select/highlight one node from the coding, without user interaction. Is it possible? I couldn't find any (obvious) way so far...
If it is possible, then let us go a little bit further. Suppose, that the tree grew so big, that cannot fit in the container. Suppose, that you can scroll the tree up/down to see all the nodes. Now, if you mark one tree node from the coding, is it possible somehow, that you scroll the tree automatically, so that the selected node is visible?
I am interested in any solutions within WD ABAP.
If you can only answer one of the questions, that is also appreciated!
Thanks for the help in advance.
Best regards,

Hi Thomas,
thanks for the advice, it works, I have already tried it. The tree node in the lead selection appears highlighted.
The scrolling doesn't work, though. I have tried to put the tree in a scroll container, and I have also tried it without (relying on the browser to scroll). Neither of them worked, it doesn't scroll to the selected node, it remains offscreen. Can you think of a way, to bring it automatically within the visible range? Ideas, anyone?
Actually we would like to implement a search function in the tree, and show the result within the tree (highlight the node, expand, if necessary, and bring it on the screen, if off-screen)
A negative answer is good enough for me, so that I know, that I can stop looking for a solution. Thanks in advance.
Janos

  • Programmatically selecting a Tree node

    Hi there,
    Given a TreePath object, I need to know how to programmatically select a tree node on a JTree.
    Here's the situation:
    I have a simple text editor project which has a JTree on its interface representing the local file system. The program has a SaveAs dialog box which also has a duplicate JTree as the one on the main interface (directories only). As the user selects the directory in which they wish to save the open file in the SaveAs dialog box, I need somehow to programmatically cause the JTree on the main interface to correspondingly select the same directory. How is this done?
    The whole point of this is so that I can then add a new leaf node to the tree at the specified directory location. I've tried simply setting the jTree1.setSelectionPath(...) method and even tried to call the valueChanged(...) method of the TreeSelectionListener object as you can see from the code snippet below, but none of these approaches have been successful.
    Please advise,
    Alan
    public void createLeafNode()
         jTree1.repaint();
         if(path == null)
            return;
         jTree1.setSelectionPath(path);
         //SelectionListener.valueChanged(new TreeSelectionEvent(jTree1, path, true, oldLeadPath, newLeadPath));
         //System.out.println("path is: " + path.toString());
         DefaultTreeNode parent = getTreeNode(path);
         //System.out.println("parent is " + parent.toString());
         //Create the child node
         IconData idata = new IconData(ICON_LEAF, new FileNode(new SpecialFile(ref.FileOpen)));
         DefaultTreeNode node = new DefaultTreeNode(idata);
         parent.add(node);
         //Tell the model that the tree structure has changed
         model.nodeStructureChanged(parent);
         path = path.pathByAddingChild(node);
         jTree1.scrollPathToVisible(path);
         //jTree1.repaint();

    Yes, I've tried setSelectionPath(TreePath path) numerous times, but it does nothing to select the node on the tree! You can see from the code I submitted that it is there commented out.
    Ordinarily, when you click on a node on the tree it becomes the "active" node, evident because it becomes highlighted. But when I use setSelectionPath(TreePath path) method, giving it the path it needs, the node on the tree doesn't become the "active" node, therefore, not selected! Furthermore and subsequently, the rest of the code in the method createLeafNode() doesn't add a new node to the tree in the location specified by the TreePath object!
    If you have used setSelectionPath(TreePath path) before successfully I would be interested in seeing a small sample program demonstrating its use. It would have to prove to me that you can select a node in the tree without physically clicking on any node in the tree with the mouse cursor, and add a new child node to that selected node.
    I submit to you a small test program I put together that demonstrates the "typical setup". It requires the user to physically click on a node of the tree, then click on a button that adds a new node in the location of the selected node. If you can alter this program demonstrating that you can add a new node to the tree without my having to click on any node of the tree with my cursor, then I'll assign you the Duke Dollars and be forever humbled by your programming prowess.
    Thanks for keeping on top of this thread as I've tried everything I can think of to try and make my program work. If you need to ask any questions please ask away. Perhaps there is something about my program that I've not explained yet that you're not aware of that I should have included. At this point I can't see the forest for the trees.

  • How to hide a tree node from the GUI but still keep it in the tree model?

    Hi, All
    I used a JTree in my project in which I have a DefaultTreeModel to store all the tree structure and a JTree show it on the screen. But for some reason, I want to hide some of the nodes from the user, but I don't want to remove them from the tree model because later on I still need to use them.
    I searched on the web, some people suggested method to hide the root node, but that's not appliable to my project because I want to hide some non-root nodes; Some people also suggested to collapse the parent node when there are child to hide, it is not appliable to me either, because there still some other childnodes (sibling of the node to hide) I want to show.
    How can I hide some of the tree node from the user? Thanks for any information.
    Linda

    Here's an example using a derivation of DefaultTreeModel that shows (or does not show) two types of Sneech (appologies to the good Dr Zeus) by overiding two methods on the model.
    Now, there are many things wrong with this example (using instanceof, for example), but it's pretty tight and shows one way of doing what you want.
    Note: to make it useful, you''d have to change the implementation of setShowStarBelliedSneeches() to do something more sophisticated than simply firing a structure change event on the root node. You'd want to find all the star bellied sneech nodes and call fireTreeNodesRemoved(). That way the tree would stay expanded rather than collapse as it does now.

  • Want to select a tree node Programmatically

    Hi all,
    I have a tree which is acting as a menu and by deafult which nodes are collapsed. Now what I need is I want to select a tree node(which node value or node label is known) by clicking a button. Pls help me. Bye.

    Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
    Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
    If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
    (If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Unistall hp office from programs and features in windows 7

    Can anyone tell me what to do to get a HP Officejet 6500  E709n   software to uninstall?  Nothing happens when I use the uninstall from programs and features in Windows 7 Control panel or from the HP start menu group.
    I have spent most of the day trying to fix printer instalation.
    I have done everything possible using different unistall programs.

    Hello @Coffee_18 , and welcome to the HP Forums!
    I can see you're having issues uninstalling. I'd like to help with that!
    I would recommend using the HP uninstall program to remove the software:
    Uninstalling the Printer Software
    If that doesn't work, I'd suggest running the Microsoft Fix It tool:
    Diagnose and fix printer and printing problems automatically
    Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Can't Remove Workflow Manager 1.0 from "Programs and Features"

    I'm trying to Uninstall Workflow Manager 1.0 from "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel. It was part of a failed installation on a SharePoint Server. The Service Bus, Workflow Client, and Windows Fabric all installed fine but when I try
    to uninstall "Workflow Manager 1.0" Windows Server responds with "The computer is part of a farm. To uninstall, first leave the farm either using "Leave from Farm" option in Configuration Wizard or "Remove-WFHost" cmd-let
    in PowerShell."
    The Deployment Wizard "Leave the Farm" option is not working and I subsequently deleted it. And when I try to run "Remove-WFHost" PowerShell says "The term Remove-WFHost is not recognized. . ."
    The Workflow proxy in the Service Applications of the SharePoint installation has been deleted.
    Any idea how I can remove Workflow Manager 1.0?
    I need to get rid of Workflow Manager 1.0 so that I can start the installation again and hopefully get it installed correctly. . .
    Thanks,
    Kathryn

    Hi Kathryn,
    I had that issue some time ago and the the only way I found to get rid of it was:
    Delete the Windows Registry entry KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Workflow Manager
    Try uninstalling it again.
    I hope it helps.

  • Programs missing from Programs and Features

    Hi,
    I wonder if someone can help me.
    A few weeks back i accidentally downloaded a program that wasn't from a reliable source, which in turn downloaded a bunch of junk on my computer. It was stupid of me, i'm usually really careful!
    I managed to get in and remove most of them, but then all of a sudden all but a few of my programs completely disappeared from Programs and features. Flash Player, Google Chrome, Firefox and a few other programs were the only ones hat remained. The major
    programs that were missing from the list are still working fine from what i can see, but i didn't get the chance to remove a few items of adware and they are still active on my computer and being as irritating as an STI (i'd imagine...)
    On searching online how to remove these parasites, most of the sites suggest uninstalling from Programs and Features, which i can't do because they aren't on the list! All other suggestions have not worked!
    I have tried going into safe mode (with and without networking) and setting up another user profile with admin but the list stays the same.
    I can't remember the last time i backed up (Months ago i presume)
    Any suggestions?

    Environment: Forms 9i, 9i AS
    The Folowing code is written with in POPUP MENU to get the selected tree node. It always returns 0. The samE code works fine with in any other TRIGGER. Is it Forms BUG?
    v_sel_tree := ftree.GET_TREE_SELECTION(v_item,1);

    Whether or not it is a bug you need a workaround.
    How about getting the when-tree-node-selected to set a package variable and look at its value in the pop-up menu code.

  • How to select a tree node in JSF.

    Hi All,
    Sample code for JSF components having following lines to display a tree node:
    <d:graph_treenode name="File-New" label="New 5"
    icon="folder_16_pad.gif" action="demo-test.faces"/>
    The above lines are showing that when we select the node it is invoking "demo-test.jsp". Whether it is possible to select multiple nodes similar to JTree(Swing) functionality?
    Regards,

    Hi again,
    I am sorry, I cannot help in another way than looking at the documentation, because I have currently no JDK available here. If expandPath(...) doesn't work, you can try to get all the nodes of that path and expand them from the root node downwards, perhaps that will work.

  • How to Programatically select a Tree Node ?

    Hi,
    JDV = 11.1.1.6
    I don't know about the answer yet! but the question is simple ;)
    say I'm viewing departments Info in a tree (Code , Name)
    How can I select a particular node in my tree using "Code" value as the parameter?
    Thank you ,
    Shahab

    Hi Shahab,
    Please find below a custom method to programmatically select a node during a disclose event by the user:
    public void onRowDisclosure(RowDisclosureEvent rowDisclosureEvent) {
         RichTree tree = (RichTree)rowDisclosureEvent.getSource();
         RowKeySet disclosedRows = rowDisclosureEvent.getAddedSet();
         RowKeySet selectedRows = tree.getSelectedRowKeys();
         selectedRows.clear();
         if (disclosedRows.size() == 1){
         Object disclosedNode = disclosedRows.iterator().next();
         selectedRows.add(disclosedNode);
         makeCurrent(tree, disclosedRows);
         tree.setSelectedRowKeys(selectedRows);
         AdfFacesContext adfFacesContext =
         AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
         adfFacesContext.addPartialTarget(tree.getParent());
    Hope this helps in your requirement.

  • Unable to uninstall Apple mobile device support from Programs and features using Windows 7 on PC.

    I've uninstalled all Apple software and reinstalled iTunes but everytime I try to connect my device to the PC I get a message saying to uninstall iTunes and AMDS but the AMDS is not uninstalling properly even after I've cleared iTunes from Program files and tried stop/starting AMDS through administrator tools.
    Help please.

    Others might find this process useful for issues with iTunes 11.1.4.62....
    Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
    Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
    The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • I cannot uninstall cs6 from "Programs and Features"

    I just installed the new Photoshop CC 2014, Illustrator CC 2014, and InDesign CC 2014 and I noticed that I still had CS6 apps still installed on my computer.  So i went to "Programs and Features" through control panel and noticed that none of the CS6 applications are actually listed there.  The only apps that are listed there are the previous CC apps and the new CC 2014 apps.
    Is there a reason why I'm not seeing the CS6 apps?  And how can I uninstall the CS6 apps if I can't see them in "Programs and Features"?
    Thanks.

  • How do I stop the Google Search Box from opening and scrolling down when I use the PGDN key?

    On My Home Page (Earthlink) - when I use the PGDN (or the down arrow) key to navigate - the google search box opens and scrolls down through recent searches. I really want to just scroll down the home page as I did in the past.
    How do I fix?

    Hello,
    '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
    ''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
    If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
    If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    ''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
    [[Image:Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win]]
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
    ''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
    Thank you.

  • Display Tree Nodes from LDIF

    I have to read the contents form an ldif file and display it with in a tree, in that the first dn, should be displayed as root dn, and next as child nodes with all the properties of dn.
    I displayed all the dn's but am not understanding how to take root dn and child nodes. please help me if any one know.
    Thanks,
    Raga

    Hi,
    When you delete a node and all of its children, what do you want to do with the grandchildren? If you want to set their parent_id to NULL, do that in a separate UPDATE statement first, then DELETE the original node and all its remaining descendants, as show below.
    If, when you say "children", you mean "descendants" (including
    children,
    children of children,
    children of children of children,
    and so on, to any level,
    ) then do a CONNECT BY query to find their primary keys, and DELETE everything in that list, like this:
    DELETE  subforms
    WHERE   id  IN
            SELECT  id
            FROM    subforms
            START WITH        id = :specified_id
            CONNECT BY  PRIOR id = parent_id
            );
