(WD ABAP) TreeByNestingTableColumn in ALV?

To anybody who can answer this:
Is it possible to have a TreeByNestingTableColumn in the ALV? And if it is, can someone provide code as to how this is possible?

Hi Christopher,
Unfortunately, this is not possible. I am afraid you need to switch to using the table ui element directly or to refrain from using a hierarchical column.

  • Is "Enter" the only way to let an ABAP OO editable ALV know data's changed?

    In the past two years, I've coded numerous ABAP OO editable ALV's, and once Uwe set me straight about how ti use the canned "handle data changed" methods,. it's been very straightforward.
    But here's my question.
    I have a modal dialog box in a MIGO dialog exit (yes, there is one although it's in a very odd function group - XQSM.)
    In the modal dialog box, I have an editable ALV and an OK pushbutton underneath it.
    If the user enters data into the ALV and then presses OK immediately afterwards (without pressing ENTER first), the ALV doesn't recognize that data has been entered.  So the underlying itab winds up empty.
    What is the right way to handle this?
    Is there a way of forcing the ALV to do its thing from within the PAI that handles the OK pushbutton?
    At my last client, the customers were willing to live with this as a training issue - tell the users to hit ENTER at least once before pressing OK.
    But surely, SAP must have something else in mind here that I'm not yet aware of.

  • WDA: TreeByNestingTableColumn and ALV in webdynpro for ABAP

    1) I am trying to implement a tree with nested structure and multiple columns. I am using RecursionNode in the context and UI element TreeByNestingTableColumn. I am not able to figure out how to make a distinction between the key and parent key. In TreeByKeyTableColumn, we use key and parent key to differentiate. Is there any link which explains how to implement TreeByNestingTableColumn in Webdynpro for ABAP? (I got a link for webdynpro for java though).
    2) Can ALV be used to implement a tree structure instead of using Table with TreeByNestingTableColumn or TreeByKeyTableColumn? Then I would be readily able to use ALV features like sort etc. If it can be used is there any link which explains how to do it in Webdynpro for ABAP?

    I can answer the first point. If you use a recursive node and TreeByNestingTableColumn, there is no need to have a rowKey and parentRowKey, since the recursion with the context already defines the hierarchy. As far as I know someone posted a blog that explains how to use the TreeByNestingTableColumn in Web Dynpro Java. I don't have the link available, but this blog would be good place to start. The implementation in WDA and WDJ is pretty much the same here.

  • ABAP Custom Report (ALV Format) in Background Processing

    I am not the hardcore ABAP Person. But want to know about the detail fact of the ABAP Custome Reports. The question is can we do the background processing for the ABAP Custome Report in ALV Format.
    If Yes ..do we require to have any additional Function/code to get the spool in ALV Format. I saw the comments that the output will look like the mess.
    Please share your comment or any useful documenation on this. We are in ECC 6.0

    You can use alv's in background using docking containers, but the display wont be interactive. If you search the forum you will see tons of threads which talk about running ALV's in background.
    For the output to be interactive, you can run the report in foreground and do the data processing in background.

    Can someone give me a document for ABAP Dialog programming(module pool) and ALV - but i need Step by Step example ,with sreenshots and explanations.
    In general any ABAP, STEP BY STEP hands on examples - Smartform, Sapscrips, Report, BDC will be highly appreciated.
    I only need hands on examples please - regular Abap courses does not work because they dont have examples.
    Please help ASAP.

  • An ABAP report with ALV in EP6

    I have a report done in ABAP R/3, selection screen and ALV.
    now, I have to put it in EP. I allready search in the forum and I found these options:
    1- Create a Transaction iView, but the problem is that is not showed in the browser of portal, right ?
    2- Create a BSP, and create a BSP iView, but this option is showed "nicely" in the EP ?
    3- I wanna know if it´s easy create a report with the tool Visual Composer.
    4- There is another option besides usign Web Dynpro Java ?
    Any info about these options would be very appreciated.

    Creating and deploying an application for displaying ABAP R/3 report using Visual Composer is quite easy as no coding involves.
    Also u can create the same using Web Dynpro, but for that u have to configure SLD in J2ee, get the model in Web Dynpro and requires a bit of coding.
    So the best solution is to go for VC.

  • ABAP Web Dynpro, ALV, Cardinality 0..n, Remove Select/Deselect All

    Hi Everyone
    I am developing a new application using ABAP Web Dynpro. I am using ALV. I want to give the user the option to select either 0 or multiple rows in the ALV grid. However, I want to hide the standard Select All/Deselect All push button that appears in the top left hand corner. This is because we do not want the user to simply select all and then click on a pushbutton to complete the process. If they wish to do this, they must manually select each item first of all. Anyone have any ideas? I've looked at the underlying ABAP classes for WD4A, but cannot find a method to do this.

  • ABAP Web Dynpro ALV: event for "tabel selection menu" needed

    Hi all,
    we need to react on the "table selection menue" control in our ALV grids. We found, that event "lead_select" is triggerd, if single lines are selected and if "delete selection" from the table selection menu is used.
    But if the "select all" item is used, the event is not triggered.
    Is there another event we can use? Does anybody know a sensible workaround for this problem?

    In the function module interface, you can specify only
    fields of a specific type and length under "IS_VARIANT".
    Although the currently specified field
    "GS_LAYOUT" is the correct type, its length is incorrect.

    well gs_layout is a probably global structure anyway. its declared by you.
    just declare from the same type as the import/tables parameter layout from your FM/Method.

    Can somebody tell me how to create ALVs in SAP 4.7 or mySAP(ECC);
       - - From TC SQ02 - Create infoset, not able to link different tables. from <i><b>"Data Source"</b></i> tab <b>'Table join using basis table'</b>, we are trying to call predefined tables, but the transaction terminates to run time error, error is:
    <i><b>"the current application triggered a termination with a short dump"</b></i>
       - - If from <i><b>"Data Source"</b></i> tab <b>'Direct read of table'</b>, then also it terminated while we call the other tables to generate reports when we join/ insert it.

    1) To install the SAPGUI:
    Download the SAPgui for Windows installer
    Logon as administrator or with a user account with administrator rights.
    Before the installation begins, shut down any other programs that are running.
    Double click on the SAPgui4.7 icon
    Follow the instructions
    At the end of the installation, click on Finish to leave the installer program. After the installation completes, "Restart" your computer.
    2) If you need to create a ALV report, there are a number of ways to do that. The simplest way that I know of is to use the FM, 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'.
    The code would be something like this:

         we are migrating the report programs from 4.7 to ECC...some of the reports am getting ABAP dump like this.....INCORRECT VALUE IN THE DYNAMIC TABLE.....if i comment the sort portion in grid display or list display  function module..output is coming please guided me in this...we are not upgrading..just migrating all the reports to ECC server..
