WD Book live duo, Probleme beim Kopieren (Fehler 59...), Firmware-Update nicht möglich

Seit eineinhalb Jahren benutze ich das WD Book duo
Seriennummer WUZ234702481
My Book Live Duo-Firmware
Version:
MyBookLiveDuo 02.43.03-022 : Core F/W
Letztes Update:
Mo 01 Apr 2013 19:02:17 CEST

  • My Book Live Duo Remote Access

I currently have an iMac and use Time Machine to back up my desktop to a My Book Live Duo External Drive.
My Book Live is supposed to allow for remote access to files. When I click on WD2go app, I can see the public shares as well as the Time Machine Share. However, when I try to see the files in the Time Machine Share remotely, I don't have files that can be accessed.
I know the back up is successful because I can see the files on the external drive when I am on the desktop. Does Time Machine put the backup files in a certain format such that I can't see them remotely on my iphone or ipad.
I also have a Windows desktop that also backsup to My Book Live Duo. I use the WD Smarware to backup that desktop. Unlike the Time Machine backup, I have no problem see and accessing the files backed up through WD Smartware.
Has anyone else experienced this problem??

I'm seeing the same pattern; Updated my system to 02.43.10-048 (from 02.11.09-053) and got a message with just ??? in Event Title and Description and nothing in the event code. An hour later I get a message about temp returning to normal (event code 2003). Everything was fine for about 30 hours, then I got ??? messages every 30 minutes followed by an event code 2003 for about 4 hours (middle of the night, no activity on the drive) yesterday I started to get a series of these with a scattering of notices of successful firmware updates (and corresponding reboots) with no change in the firmware version. We turned off auto-update. Just adding data to the thread at this point, the system is at home and I'm in the office so I can't do any real investigation on it.

  • My Book Live Duo 02.43.10-048 overheating warning gone

Hi, I updated to the latest version ( http://community.wd.com/t5/My-Book-Live-Duo/New-Release-My-Book-Live-Duo-Firmware-Version-02-43-10-048-6-22/td-p/880844 ) and whereas before I received e-mails when the unit was overheating, now I don't. I noticed that the front LED was red and shut it down. No warning e-mail was sent and normally two or three e-mails should be sent warning about overheating before it reaches this stage. Warning e-mails are sent for other conditions (intermittent network or system restart) are sent properly so it's not a case of misconfiguration or e-mails suddenly not getting through. In the firmware version previous to this one the event title and event description had a set of question marks instead of proper descriptive text but at least it was sending something saying something was wrong, which turned out to be the overheating warning. This warning is necessary as I live in a hot climate, even rolling back to the previous imperfect warning would be useful to me. Is there any way to log in via SSH and do something like fixing or starting a temperature monitoring process? Thanks, Dan.

  • Time Machine restore from WD my book live duo

Dear all and especially anyone out there who may be able to help me.
I have a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion, a WD mybook live duo 3/6tb on the LAN, all wired.
It has been backing up through Time Machine fine until my MacBook crashed earlier this week so I have a fairly
recent snapshot of my MacBook before the crash.
I wanted to restore, after a Hard Disk erase which seemed necessary, from Time Machine but I couldn't make it work
as it kept asking me for user names and passwords of the NAS (which I entered of course) only
to result in error meesages saying the 'share' didn't exist. (Despite the fact that it does immediately
recognise the backup and location on the NAS.)
WD support advised me to first reinstall OSX ML and then use the regular Time Machine
    functionality to restore my Mac.
    - there is no option to fully restore your Mac through the wonderful TimeMachine time travel
functionality. I tried to restore my Macintosh HD back to a recent time point but that resulted in
nothing much (or nothing at all, I don't know). I don't see my old stuff, I still see a kind of vanilla
    OSX ML installation.
    - using the restore functionality (CMD-R during startup) and the time machine restore option,
results in the same nagging for names and passwords and error messages that the share
    doesn't exist.
WD support couldn't tell me what the share name (and possibly password) would be for where it stores Time Machine backup
files (it doesn't show up in the list of shares when you look in the WD dashboard) and that makes sense to me as when you
tell Time Machine to use the NAS, it doesn't ask you for anything in terms of shares or passwords either.
So here I am: with probably a very good and recent complete backup at my disposal but no way of restoring it to my Mac.
So all I had and trusted to Time Machine is lost.
Is anyone out here who can help me? Anyone with a similar experience and hopefully solution? (That I can understand....I am a Mac user! :-) )
    I would be enormously grateful!
    Greetings from Amsterdam,
    Eric

Hello Eric, not sure if this helps or is exactly what you are looking for as I am unfamiliar with the NAS issue you have.  However, I recently restored my computer from Mavericks back to Snow Leopard using my WD mybook.  At first I was unable to use the WD mybook for restore, as is was not recognized by the computer after the menu came up from pressing "command R" during start up.  I attributed this to the WD software requiring a password to access the drive.  This is the same password that you (anyone who owns a WD mybook) have to supply each time you want to use time machine to back up files.  There is a simple remedy I found.  You need to go to your applcations and select "WD SmartWare," type in your password, then select the "Settings" tab at the upper right hand conner.  Then select "Set up drive."  On the right side of the window there is the "Set Security Options," sign in using your password in the box displayed under "password," then select "Remove Security."  The last step would be to save the security setting, and you are all set to use your WD mybook without a password for full system restoration.  So when you restart your computer and hold (or as I found press many times) the "command R" to access the restore window at start up, you can select restore from time machine, and have your WD mybook now appear in the timemachine device window, as the device is not password protected anymore.  Once your computer is restored you can follow the same steps outlined above to reinstate your password for your WD mybook.  Best of luck,
    Marc

  • Any fix for MacPro Fan problem caused by the last firmware update?

    Hi,
My macPro's fans have been going balistic on restart from sleep mode ever since I loaded that last firmware update that was supposed to address the MacPro fan control.
Any word on a fix... Is this overspeed damaging my hardware?

It is a bug in the firmware update because my MacPro never acted this way before the update was loaded...
Many have reported the problem... and some have not experienced it... Go figure.
Logic says this is not a bug. A bug with the firmware update would be universally felt, no exceptions. Firmware doesn't change its format out of the blue when it chooses to. What it does say is there are some Mac Pros that for whatever reason are not getting sufficient cooling in their position on the desk/floor, or the climate they are being used in. Since Apple does not publish the temperature limits internally for its machine, the best thing is to report this problem to AppleCare, even if the hardware test comes out negative.

  • Linksys WRT54 G V1.1 - Problems with SBC DSL after firmware update

I have a Linksys WRT54G version 1.1. I also have AT&T SBC Yahoo! DSL with the SpeedStream 5100 DSL modem.
It previously had the original firmware, as I never updated it. Last night I updated the firmware. It was successful. However ever since I have not been able to successfully connect to my SBC DSL.
I set it to PPPOE and used my SBC username and password to connect but it would not connect. Router name, domain name, host name and the new field called "service name" were all left blank previously....so I do not think anything changed there. I talked to the SBC technical support and the lady had no information to give me regarding any of those fields because the router was 3rd party....she gave me the Linksys number but how are they supposed to know any of SBC's specific information?  Anyway I figured I mind as well post here instead of waiting in line for an on-line Linksys technical advisor.
There were also new added options in the updated firmware version like "advanced settings" I believe it is called....since the firmware update the "router" was set to be a hub instead of a router....so I changed it to router. Then I was able to go to status and finally be able to connect. Prior to that it was giving me an error saying it was not able to obtain an IP address from the server.
Although I was able to connect to the SBC DSL service through the router I am still unable to actually get an internet connection. Cannot receive weather through weatherbug or access websites through IE7. For the time being I disconnected the router and have the modem hooked directly to my desktop. This works OK temporarily but I'd love to get the router up and running again so I could use my wireless laptop as well as the increased security that the router provides.
If you can think of something I am forgetting or doing wrong with this new firmware update let me know. There are a bunch more options and settings than the original firmware that I am not really familiar with. Thank you in advance!

With most AT&T systems, the modem does your PPPoE login.  The Linksys router should not repeat this login.  Instead, in the WRT54G, the "Internet Connection Type" should be set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).  This is the factory default setting.
Additionally, after a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
So, to fix your system, do the following:
First, reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, then power down your network, then wire the ethernet port on the 5100 to the Internet port on the WRT54G.  Leave one computer wired to a LAN port on the WRT54G.  Power up your network.  It should work.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router might be dead.  Report back with this problem.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, report back with this problem.
If you need additional help, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • Intel Mini has problem with Mail/internet after firmware update (0.1)

    Hello there.
I'm not sure, but I think my Intel Mini has gone bonkers after a firmware update (Mac mini-SMC-firmware-updater (1.0)
What happend is, that connecting to (both of) my two Gmail and Tiscali accounts is not working anymore. (no connection through gate 995)
I did not change anything in the accountsetup.
But now I notice that even my torrents (oops) can't connect anymore.
I think this all took place after the firmware update.
On Dutch sites I do not seem to get any useable answers, so I thought it be wise to go a bit more international.
Could anyone help me out on this one?
    Cheers.
    Marco

    Wizzard,
Having the same problem here.  After updating the firmware the wireless connection to the network is unstable.  After rebooting the laptop most of the time I get "Low or no connectivity" message.  Sometimes it connects and dies after a few minutes.  And sometimes it connects and stays connected until shut down.
What do you mean by "u have to reset it for 30 seconds and then reconfigure it"?  Do you mean you actually have to reset the router to default settings and reconfigure, or just power down and bring it back up?
    Thanks,
    Stas

  • OS X MAVERICKS 10.9.1, Late 2013 iMac i7 and Western Digital 4TB  My Book Live Duo External Drive

How do I properly configure the external hard drive and Time Machine (TM) to be sure that TM backup are performed properly and the backups can be used to either restore my iMac fully or certain files can be restored in the future, if required.
I would like to know the drivers and software I need to install on the iMac to support the external hard drive, step by step instructions for correctly setting up the external drive would be useful.  Should I use the external drive as RAID 0 ( the drive is actually two-2TB drives in a case), or use its 4TB capacity without RAID?
Additionally, is there a way to test the restoration of files from the external drive to the iMac.  I do not want to render the iMac to an unusable state.

Be aware that Western Digital drives have had issues with Mavericks. http://wd-mavericks-data-loss.com/#!
I would format using Apple's Disk Utility rather than the drive software.

  • My Book Live Duo appears to have died. How do I determine what failed

Drive is making a squealing noise. Seems to make a noise with or without the drives.I cannot access the drive over the network. I have attempted to reinstall the software and find the drive with the search utility. The indicator light starts blue and then turns to amber. Do I need to purchase a new enclosure? What are my options? How can I test the drives without investing in another enclosure. I have 2 2TB drives setup in a mirror RAID configuration. Can't imagine both are bad.

If it's making an audible noise with no drives inserted, the enclosure has a failing component somewhere.   There's no moving parts in the enclosure (no fan, etc.) Is it too old for a warranty claim?

KompletterNeuinstallation
Welche Ideen habt ihr noch? Bin echt am verzweifeln...
    Viele Grüße

Sorry, I don't speak/read German very well. I know you are having some sort of problem with a "blue screen". I suggest you boot from your MacOS system DVD and repair permissions. You may have a problem with your disk drive.

  • Problems to connect WLC after Firmware Update

I have two WLC 4100, which just updated to the latest Software Version 3.2.193.5.
Everything works fine, except I have problems connecting to the configuration Website.
    I have the following situation:
My client is connected in VLAN A, there is also a Dynamic Interface configured in that VLAN A. The Management IP is configured in VLAN B. The Vlans are routed and gateways and so on are correct.
The WLC is Layer 3 Mode.
With the older software release I could connect to Interface IP in VLAn A or the Management IP in Vlan B.
Now with the new software I cannot login on the interface IP on VLAN A anymore. Furthermore the Management IP on VLAN B is only "available" after I tried to connect to the interface IP on VLAN A.
Otherwise the Management IP does not even answer to a ping.
I am not quiet sure if this is a feature or a bug. Anyway it is very annoying
Hopefully somebody has a solution or at least the same issue, so I do not feel so alone ;-)
    Thanks for your support

I've seen something like this, too, on the WiSM when I had to enable telnet (ick) to run the LWAPP upgrade utility. It would not answer telnet on the maintenance port addresses (it even was nice enough to say so with a message) until after I had successfully telnetted to the corresponding management address. After that, it worked and I was able to run the upgrade utility. Same thing happened twice with two separate machines using the same address (at different times), so it's probably ARP related. Very strange. Don't know what to make of it.

  • Problems with E71 and fearing firmware update

Hello, I currently have a Nokia E71 with phone software version 200.21.118 Installed and here are the following problems that i am facing
I cant install or run java apps anymore and whenever im trying to open a secure page on the internet my phoine locks up
also im having other problems with a few other apps locking up when they go online.
I thought that maybe updating the software will fix the problem
the fear that i have is i payed $700AU for this phone and im scared that updating it would make things worse or fatal
    can someone help?
    Thanks

I fixed it!  After calling Apple support, we tried every kind of reboot you can think of:
    command-option-P-R
    Command-option-R
    Shift key down
    unplug
unplug and hold in start button for 30 seconds
Nothing worked.  So I was going to take it in to the "Genius" bar, but I tried one more thing.  I unplugged everything from the Mac - monitors, USB, ethernet, everything.  Rebooted and waited for a minute.  I then plugged one of my monitors in and voilá!  the progress bar was there.  So there you go - good luck!

  • WRT54Gv5 wireless problems after 1.02.7 firmware update

The wireless fails, but the wired connection is OK. Here's what I think is happening. The Wireless Network Name (SSID) becomes "linksys", although the web interface continues to show the custom name I had before the upgrade. When I change it, the web interface shows the new name, but it remains "linksys" in reality. I think this what is going on, because I can change the security I see in available networks for "linksys", though it is a little hard to diagnose because another router in the building is already called "linksys". Anyway, I was able to change the listing of "linksys" from "unsecured" to "WPA2", while the web interface continued to show the new name.
Following advice here, I did a hard reset on the router, which fixed it. But the next day we had the same problem. There had been a power cycle overnight, but now cycling the power, I cannot recreate the problem.
The release notes for this firmware say to make sure all wireless clients are disconnected before upgrading. So I disabled wirless before upgrading, the first time. The second time, I left wireless on and just checked there were no clients in the LAN table. Maybe it will hold this time. Other parameters I'm considering are: WPA instead of WPA2, based on a thread here, and otherwise using default settings, such as the 198.168.1.1 address, the default router name "WRT54G", and no logging. Obviously, we can't use "linksys" as the SSID.
Linksys used to be solid. Here's hoping they release a better firmware.

Hard-reset the router for 1 minute and configure it from the scratch...On the setup page, first of all change the router password under Administration tab...Now,under the Wireless tab,Change the SSID to unique name,Change the Wireless Channel to 11-2.462.Under the Advanced Wireless Settings...Change the Beacon Interval to 50,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Problems after wireless router (WRT310n) firmware update.

I updated the firmware on my wireless router (wrt310n) yesterday and now I am having major issues connecting my laptop to it via wireless.  After the update, I reset the router as well as unplugged the power source.  Once the update and everything was reset, I re-entered all my settings and set the computers back up using the LELA.  I go to change the laptop to wireless and it says it can't connect to it.  I did the LELA update on the laptop thinking that would fix it, but it didn't help.  However, the whole time I am able to connect to the router using a ethernet cable.  I turned off all of the encryption settings, firewalls, and broadcasted my SSID.  I searched this forum for some help and one topic suggested somethings, which I did, and I was able to connect wirelessly with the encryption.  I thought I was done and set-up, until later that evening.  I turned the computer back on only to see the same problem again.  I decided to deal with it the next day (today) by uninstalling LELA and just using Windows to configure my wireless settings.  As soon as I uninstalled LELA, entered the key into the Windows program, it worked like a charm.  Until tonight, when I turned on the computer.  Now I'm connecting to the network wirelessly, but it says "Limited or no connectivity."  Acting like there is no encryption key entered.  I go to "View Wireless Networks" and it says "WIndows cannot configure connection.  If you have another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software."  The thing is, I don't have another program on here to manage a wireless connection.  Sorry for the long post.  I figured if I didn't type everything out, people would have just asked me questions.  I had no problems with this router until I did the update yesterday.  If it can't be fixed, is there a way to revert back to the old firmware?  Thanks in advance.

Well you should adjust the Wireless Settings on your router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Before you attempt to connect to your wireless network you should first check your Programs menu if there is any Wireless Program(like 'Intel Proset' , 'Dell Wireless WLAN' , or anything that gives you a clue of a Wireless Program/Utility/Software)...You should use the Wireless Utility/Software(if any) to connect to your wireless network and not the Windows default Wireless Program to avoid any conflicts...
