Web application performence issues

Hi,
i developed a mutli user web application..aproxmately used by around 4000 users.i used beans for business logic and jsps for GUI servlets for redirecting to approriate jsps.in this application i used ArrayLists and
HashMaps most of the times.for decalring the beans i used jsp:useBean tags with session scope..I need some suggestions about using the arraylist and hashmaps in web application.will it effect the performence.what kind of precautions should i take for making more effective web application.
Regards,

I had a similar issue i enabled the smarttunnel checkbox, and this time i am getting different error.
Microsoft Visual Basic
Run-time error '1177'
The document name or path is not valid.
Try one or more of the following:
According to the microsoft website i should install SSL certificate on both the server and the client. Does it mean that I should install certificate on ASA and the sharepoint server?

  • Bex Web Application Designer issue: portal communication error

    hi experts,
I am working with Bex Web Application Designer in BI7. we are using SP9. When i try to use the Web template its giving below error.
The Requested operation could not be performed due to portal communication error.
its message class is RSBOPLAP and message number is 018 and description is Java System error: An unknown error occured During portal communication.
when i double click the below error details given.
    Diagnosis
An error occurred in the BI components on the SAP J2EE Engine.
    System Response
    Procedure
Contact your system administrator to have the error analyzed in detail.
    Procedure for System Administration
Start the Visual Administrator, log on to the SAP J2EE Engine and choose "<J2EE_SID>" ->"Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Viewer".
The file "defaultTrace.trc" includes detailed information about the error that occurred. In Windows, you can find this file in the Log Viewer under "Cluster <computer name>" -> "Server <server number>" -> "<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<INSTANCE>\j2ee\cluster\server<NUMBER>\log". ". In Unix, the file is located under "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<INSTANCE>/j2ee/cluster/server<NUMBER>/log".
If the file does not include enough detail about the error, you can increase the log level to obtain more information. To do this, choose "<J2EE_SID>" -> "Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Configurator". On the "Locations" tab page, choose "com" -> "sap" -> "ip" -> "bi" -> "webapplications". Using the selection list on the right side of the screen, you can increase the log level, whereby "DEBUG" represents the log level with the most information. You can save your settings by choosing the "Save" icon. The change to the log level is active immediately. Once you have successfully analyzed the error, you should set the log level back to its default value using the appropriate pushbutton; continuous writing to the log file negatively affects the overall performance of the system.
please give solutions to resolve the issue.
    regards
    vadlamudi

    hi shambhu,
thanks for the reply, yes its related to basis but they are unable to trace it out. is SP9 support Bex Report Designer and Bex WAD??

  • 1 core VS multi core in a web application: performance issue

    Hi,
I'm having trouble with a web application in a multi cpu server (w2ksp4, iis+wl9.2)
I have prepared a set of JMeter stress tests, and the application is only capable to finish 5 transactions in a multi cpu (2 cpus with 2 cores each) but if I bind the JVM of the weblogic process to only 1 core, then the application can handle more than 60 transactions without errors.
I'm in production side; developers tell me "hardware problem" but it seems more likely a poorly designed application (as per my previous experience with them)
The syntoms are lot of null pointers exceptions and threads stuck when in multi core scenario.
Althought I have not put lot of details, any of you have ever seen something similar?
If anybody needs further information please feel free to ask
    Thanks,
    Antonio

What operating system are you using?
make sure you are trying a certificated configuration JDK and OS.
Oracle Fusion Middleware Supported System Configurations
If using unix/Linux OS based you migh be hitting low entropy issue, you can add
-Djava.security.egd=file:/dev/./urandom to JAVA_OPTIONS and retest the issue

I deployed it on Tomcat 7 previously and had no problem it was very quick.
I tried changing the JVM Arguments (xms , xmx and XX:MaxPermSize) but no luck with that .
Kindly can anyone help me with this issue .

  • Web Application Deployment Issue in SOA Domain

I have a web application war file which when deployed in Weblogic 10.3.6 separately works fine.
When I deploy the same in a SOA domain (_Weblogic 10.3.6 + SOA 11.1.1.6 + OSB 11.1.1.6_), it's throwing the below error.
In both the cases I am targeting the application to the Adminserver only.

  • Office Web Application access issue over SharePoint

    Hi All,
I have installed OWA 2013 for SharePoint 2013 in a Farm and the same has been connected to the SP Farm. I'm able to access the OWA from all the SharePoint sites in the Farm, but the sites which are added to the Host header in the IIS causing this issue.
Note: All the sites are Internal and for few of the sites are IIS Host Header Mapped sites..
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

    Hi Arun,
Best is to use SharePoint ULS log viewer to check the root cause. Furthermore, please make sure that the host named site collections are accessible on OWA node itself.
    Thanks.

  • Web application designer issue

    hi expets,
i have a template which has three drop down boxes,a table and a chart, when i select only the first two i should pass the url to query1,and when i select all three then i should be able to pass the url to query2,query3,etc depending upon the value i select in the third drop down, i am passing the filter values(drop down values) as an url(url1:="<SAP_BW_URL DATA_PROVIDER='*' multi="X" FILTER_COLLAPS=' '>)and i am concatinating the filter and its values to that string for the first case.for the second one i need to pass the values to a particular query(url2:'<SAP_BW_URL DATA_PROVIDER='DATAPROVIDER1' CMD='RESET_DATA_PROVIDER' INFOCUBE='infocubexx' QUERY='query1'>)the query1 changes depending upon the value i choose from the third drop down box,eg if i chosee a value 2 it would be query2, i tried to concatinate the filter values to second url but it gives me error can u let me know how to pass the filter values to a particular query depending upon the selection.
and what is the difference between the following two:
    1):="<SAP_BW_URL DATA_PROVIDER='*' multi="X" FILTER_COLLAPS=' '>)
    2)<SAP_BW_URL DATA_PROVIDER='DATAPROVIDER1' CMD='RESET_DATA_PROVIDER' INFOCUBE='infocubexx' QUERY='query1'>).

  • ADFS 3.0 - Web Application Proxy configuration Issue

    Hi All,
We are in the process of implementing ADFS 3.0 published to the internet for o365 Federation purposes.
The setup consists of the following
    - 2 x windows 2012 R2 running ADFS 3.0 ( only one server presently installed and configured though)
    - 2 x Windows 2012 R2 Running Web Application Proxy (  only one server presently installed and configured though ).
There is an F5 Big-IP load-balancer for both internal and external interfaces and it has been configured after a lot of issues with the SNI part on the F5.
So, in short the setup is now a single server hosting ADFS 3.0 using SQL and a single WAP server, however the traffic to these servers are still going through the LB.
Now the issue is that i cannot complete the installation/configuration of the Web Application Proxy server. There is  a firewall in between our DMZ and the internal network. I can reach the internal services via the following url and telnet on port 443
to the federation service as well. (ports for 443 and 80) are opened to internal network on the load balancer ip . I can reach https://fs.domain.com/adfs/ls/idpinitiatedsignon.aspx and federationmetadata/2007-06/federationmetadata.xml location as well
from the Web APplication proxy server without any issues or certificate prompts at all.
When i do the configuration for WAP, i use the same account which was used as a service account for the ADFS service internally. If i use a local admin account, it errors out with another message stating the connection was closed.
The certificate on the internal server along with its private key was exported and has been imported on the WAP server . This is not internal CA, instead we are using DIGICERT SSL with SAN Names for enterprise registration and work folders. Hence the CA Chain
issue is ruled out and also this is not a wild card certificate.
When the wizard starts configuring, it does establish the trust with the federation service which is shown up in the event viewer with  EventID 391 within 15 seconds i get another event id 422 which states that it cannot retrieve the proxy configuration
and eventid 276 on the Federation server which states the authentication failure. this continues until the servers stops to try configuring the wizard.
I have read all the available threads on the 3.0 WAP installation /configuraiton problem and tried all the steps possible but i am still stuck with this issue.
There is one more part that i noticed on the ADFS server, that the self signed services for the token-encrypting and token decrypting are self-signed certificates. Also, in the certificates it was showing up as not trusted. and i installed them to the TRUSTED
ROOT CERTIFICATION STORE after wich i cannot see any private key showing up when viewing the certificate which means i cannot get the MANAGE PRIVATE keys option when right clicking on the cert to assign read permissions for the ADFS service account.
Should i assign the same SSL sertificate (SAN based for enterpriseregistration & Workfolders) to the token-encrypting and token-decrypting services in ADFS console or should i leave them as self signed ? I did read that self-signed is not recommended for
production environment ? If not the same certificate what are the requirements for the certificate ?
I am not sure what I am missing in the configuration that is causing this issue. The WAP servers are not part of the domain and have also ensured the time synchronization between the domain machine as well.
The service name is fs.domain.com on both the internal and external DNS ( we have domain.com as a zone in DNS internally as well ). I am able to Authenticate inside and from the WAP server when accessing the link.
Could it be a Load Balancer Configuration ? [i will try eliminating this from the configuration]
Let me know if there are any options that i can try to resolve this and get the configuration working.
    Cheers,

Does the load balancer pass the certificate session through to the ADFS server or are you offloading SSL. SSL offload does not work with WAP/ADFS integration (at least at the time of writing it does not).
Can you try through the load balancer with SSL pass through turned off please.
Also as ADFS 3.0 (Server 2012 R2) uses Server Name Indication (SNI) then any health checks that run on the load balancer must support this, so if they do not then you need to use TCP 443 checks for a listening port, as doing a standard HTTPS check will fail,
and if the load balancer fails its checks whilst you are configuring ADFS that might be a reason why it has gone offline for you (error 442 is to do with failure to swap client certificates between WAP and ADFS).
Finally, check the June update to Server 2012 R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2964735) as that has fixed some certificate issues with multiple servers for WAP and ADFS when you don't have the
2012 R2 AD schema in place.

    Hi,
Request and Response should be part of same agreement. I hope you are not confused between Acknowledgement and Response. Acknowledgement can be received in the same session (sync mode) but Response will always come in a different session and will be treated as a different document. If, for request, party A is initiator and B is responder then for response party B will be initiator and party A will be responder (as Requset and Response are two docs in case of Custom Document)
For configuring X-Path, please refer section 8.3.11 Configuring the XPath Expression for a Custom XML Document at below link -
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/integrate.1012/b19370/busact_coll.htm#sthref784
Please let us know whether you are trying to receive a response or Ack?

  • Activity log design issue in web application .. Whatabout AOP ?

    Hi guys. ..
I am working on a big web application in which there is module called activity log which actually logs most of the activities one perform in application like make a payment , defere the payment , issue the check etc. Almost all components in the application less or more use this component.
Now what is my issue is its design sucks. Every time a new activity has to added one has to add a separate class for that and make a call at a particular place in other component depending on some logic. sometime it becomes a nightmare to maintain all this.
I am sure there should be better way to do it .without making a call to this component every othere class.
I dont know much about AOP. Is AOP got some solution for that.? or any design pattern I should use to make it maintainable or simple to add new activities whenever need arise.
    Thanks
    HibernFan.

whenever need arise. You are thinking exactly the right thing. AOP is born for this sort of thing, and it addresses exactly the problem you've experienced: Move all that code that's duplicated with every new activity into the advice class.
You can do AOP if you have AspectJ or, better yet, Spring.
If not, you can think of Filters as a kind of AOP. Since this is a Web app you can write a Filter that does the logging for you.
Either way, you've nailed the idea. Good thinking.

  • Issue with member move, change or delete from Planning web application

    Hi
We need to make some basic editing (move, change or delete) of level 0 members of the cost center dimension from Planning web application instead of from essbase database outline. But everytime, we tried from the web Admininstration/Dimension drill down and did a Cut or Delete of a base member, the screen either becomes blank or hangs. And we would have to stop and restart the Planning web application server to bring it back.
Is this a bug or is there something we missed? We are using Planning 4.0.1 and essbase 7.1.1. Any advice on workaround is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
Have you tried running the planning server in the foreground from the start menu and check the output to see if there are any issues.
Also it might be worth trying to increase the java heap size, maybe you have a complex hierarchy and this is causing the heap size to max out.
Have you tried using another method to make changes to the hierarchy such as HAL ?
    Cheers
    John

  • Performance issue in web application

We have installed a web application that uploads a XML file to the server. The application is still in its nascent stage but deployed.
After analysis we found out that 50 to 100 hits take place at any point of time. We store the XML file as a blog in oracle and use Xquery to retrieve the data. The core apis used are Java Servlets and JSPs and the web server used in Apache Tomcat.
The hits for upload will increse by 500-600 at point of time.
I would like to know the following.
Is the technology used sufficient to handle the issue?
How can i handle the load balance in the server?

Use grinder or some other test tool to find out.
