Web browser plug-in for publishing a front panel

I have a number of automated systems operating through the corporation. Support is becoming an issue. I plan on running an application on a server, the front panel will look like a 'tech support request form'. Accessed through a browser, users on the LAN will access the "form" and log in a support request. On the back end the VI will log the request to a DB and email me to alert me to the issue
Just read in an excerpt of the LTR that to accomplish this the client machines must have:
"To operate remote panels from a browser, you must first have the LabVIEW 6.1 run-time engine and browser plug-in installed on the client machine."
The runtime engine is no problem, but what , and where, is the br
owser plug-in? and will it operate with both/either Netscape / IE?

I looked through the source code on the html pages, there is some javascript detection. I'm running Win2k and IE 6 and don't have the 6.1 run-time engine on the machine and get prompted to install it.
If you view source of any of the live experiment pages search for "ftp.ni.com" and that should take you to the right place in the html for the script.
Johnathan's post mentiond that NS is only supported for versions greater than 4.7 so that might be one issue with your current setup. I'm sure there has got to be a way to detect your browser version too and then inform people that if they're using an older version they need to upgrade to view the remote panel. Of course, I said I'm sure it's possible which doesn't mean I know myself ho
w to do it ;-) I have seen it on some sites when functionality isn't available for older versions like NS 3.x
One other thing, depding on how you're going to deploy the application and how much control you have over the machines accessing the pages. If the detection is a javascript based detection then you might want to include a detection to make sure people have javascript turned on in the first place. If you think that would be useful let me know and I'll try and see if I can find something.
I'm waiting to hear back from somebody on the NS issues and to confirm the javascript working for both browsers. I'll let you know as soon as I have more information.
Best of luck,

  • Browser plug-in for ejre1.4.2

    Hi,
I tested the ejre1.4.2 on my Atmel at91sam9263 platform and it works fine in Linux. However, it does not come with browser plug-in. Unfortunately, other Jave SE embedded packages do not work with this armv5 processor. Is it possible to get a web browser plug-in to work with this ejre1.4.2? I googled for a java web plug-in and found things like icedtea-gcjwebplugin, gcjwebplugin and classpath. Anybody know whether they works with ejre?
    Many thanks,
    Derek

Hi, assuming your are referring to Jeffrey Freidl then can I just say that his plug-ins add so much more flexibility to any that might already exist in LR and I think he only expects the minimum set by Paypal as the minimum donation.
You can try them for a number of days before deciding to donate.
I did and I wouldn't be without them.

  • E71 web browser will search for WLAN connection in...

The E71 web browser will search for and present a list of WLANs whilst the phone is in offline mode without asking first. When you then select a WLAN from the list, it does ask if you wish to create a WLAN connection in offline mode. Surely it should ask before searching?

With new FW i can't set, that browser ask me.
Before new SW , browser alwasy give me an option to choose wlan connection..

  • Unable to open PDF in Web Browser and delay for printing

In my LAN, on several PCs running with Windows 7 (32 and 64 bits), I observe two problems with "Acrobat Reader XI":
    - Delays / unable to open pdf files in the web browser (Internet Explorer).
    - Delays in printing: for example it takes over 8 minutes to print a pdf file: 400kB for two pages (on different printers / models).
Here's the list of actions that I've allready tried to issue those problems:
For the Web Browser problem :
    - Repair the "Acrobat Reader XI" installation.
    - Uninstalling and Installing Acrobat Reader.
    - In the web browser, disabling and activating the add-on (Adobe PDF Reader).
    - Uninstall "Acrobat Reader XI" and install "Acrobat Reader X"
Temporary issue: downgrade to "Acrobat Reader 9", which solves the problem with the web browser.
    For the printing delay:
    - Repair the "Acrobat Reader XI" installation
    - Change the printers drivers (install Universal Drivers PCL)
    - Check the box: "Print As Image" before printing
    Any Idea ?

You can get that error if there is still an old Adobe Reader plugin in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

  • SQL*Plus vs web/browser admin interface for 10g Express

hello, I'm a newbie in Oracle. Seem like I executed the setup script using SQL*Plus successfully (the scrpt CREATE TABLE then INSERT setup data) but seems like Oracle 10g Express web/browser interface tells me the setup data has never been inserted into the tables created?!

I ran the count(1) SQL again just to check. The table is empty?! I logged into SQL*Plus AND 10g web interface using same credential dev/dev. Not sure what's happening why I can see data from SQL*Plus but not web/browser admin interface

  • Web browser log in for wifi? how to

I am required to log in through a web browser to use internet in my apt. How do I do this on my ATV after connecting to the network?
Found the network and connected fine, now it needs to log in, but I am not sure how.

the appletv does not support this, so you will not be able to connect the appletv directly to that wifi network.
your only solution is to log on to the wifi on your pc/laptop and then share it back out so that the appletv can connect to that.

Have been using Quickbooks, connecting to remote computer for years, just this month QB directs that a "Plug In" is needed from WEB-X. I download the program and can not connect to the Remote Computer?

hello, in case the plugin got missing after you've updated firefox to version 21 please try this: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''plugins.load_appdir_plugins'''. double-click it and change its value to '''true''' (a restart of the browser might be necessary afterwards for the change to take effect).
some background on the issue is explained in http://www.ghacks.net/2013/05/15/why-you-may-have-lost-access-to-plugins-or-extensions-in-firefox-21/

  • Update browser plug-in for Acrobat

Firefox 12 says my Adobe Acrobat 9.5.1.283 Plug-in needs updating, but when I click on the "Update" button it takes me to Adobe's download page for Reader X. I've read that installing Acrobat and Reader on the same machine is not recommended. When I check for updates in Acrobat it says no updates are available. How do I resolve the out-of-date Plug-in? I'm using WIN XP Pro SP3.

Firefox considers the Acrobat / Reader X plug-ins to be the latest available, since they are of the order 10.x.x.x as compared to those of 9.5.1 i.e 9.5.1.xxx.
You can safely ignore these warnings since you are at the latest version of Adobe Acrobat available.
OR you could download Reader X and make it the default PDF viewing application, which would resolve this issue for you.

  • Hiding an ActiveX container with a web browser object

I have an ActiveX container that holds a web browser object to view a remote front panel for a VI running on a RT Target.  I would like to dynamically adjust the visibility of the container on the front panel so that it is only visible when needed.

The web browser ActiveX object is a bit unique in how it is drawn on the screen. It is always on top. So this is an issue with the code in the web browser, not in LabVIEW. The best and easiest solution to your question that I have come up with is to move the ActiveX container offscreen instead of trying to make it invisible. Use the position property on the ActiveX container to programmaticaly move it. See diagram. (I'm showing both the True and False case of the Case Structure, but there should only be one Case structure in the diagram.)

  • Publishing front panels with web server

    Hello,
I'm working with LabView 7.1 and trying to publish a front panel by means of the web server.
The problem is that I'm only able to connect to the VI through the internet when both , the host and the remote are networked.
When I try with computers outside that network the browser doesn't find the webpage.
    Thank you for your help
    Lian

    You need to know:
The public IP of your router.
The private IP of your LabVIEW server.
The port used by your server.
First you need to forward the port on your router. Basically, you need to tell the router that incoming NEW connections to a certain port of the public IP of the router should get forwarded your server. (Without forwarding, the router only works for outgoing connections). Once the port is forwarded, clients located on the outside need to connect to the public IP of your router.
    Possible complications:
Your ISP might block certain incoming ports for security reasons. In this case you can configure a different port for the server.
With some routers you will not be able to connect to your server (for testing) with a client located on the same LAN via the public IP of the router. Only routers that incorporate a loopback proxy support this. What is the brand and model of your router?
    Good luck!
