Web Center Services - Wiki (WebCenter 11g)

I have succesfully completed all the installations for web center 11g . But when i log into weblogic admin console i find that the owc_wiki does not have a test point url . Also in the comments it says "None of the targets for this Deployment are running. No test points possible." What should be done so that i get the test point url for wiki .

Hi,
I have the same problem while I am trying to create and deploy my own ejb3 webservices.
The webservices are ejb3 @Stateless beans and they are located in a separate jar file. The jar is a part of a bigger ear application that uses ejb2, too. The application is deployed successfully, the ejb3 webservices are listed in weblogicv console (under the application ear deployment), but when I try to test the service, I get the following message:
"None of the targets for this Deployment are running. No test points possible"
I figured out that clearing the ear file so as only the ejb3 jar is left inside, in most cases solves the issue - webservices get activated. But it is not deterministic.
What could I do wrong?

  • How to disable People Connection services in WebCenter 11g Spaces

    Hi everyone,
    We have installed and configured WebCenter 11g (11.1.1.2.0). People Connection is installed by default. One of the requirements is to disable the People Connection service in our customer's production environment.
    Is there anyway to disable the People Connection Tab or part of the services such as Connections, Activity Stream and Feedback?
    Thanks in advance.
    Johnny

    Did you try this...
    Login to WebCenter spaces as and Administrator (weblogic), navigate to >> Administration >> Security >> Roles Tab.
    There you can check/uncheck People Connections. From the window it states, "Application roles determine what users can see and do in WebCenter Spaces. Select or clear the check boxes to configure role permissions or click Create Role to define a new application role. The Spaces-User role is the default role assignment for any user who logs in to WebCenter Spaces. The Public-User role represents any user who is not logged in."
    If you uncheck it for the Public-user and Spaces-User role, your users should not be able to use People Connections.

  • New to Web Center Spaces and Webcenter

    Hi,
    Can i someone explain me when to use webcenter spaces is it a substitute to build application using webcenter in JDev ? I feel the tasks that are mentioned in Developers guide for Webcenter and the user guide for webcenter Spaces are same (ver 11.1.1.1.5).
    Thanks

    It all depends on the requirements.
    Spaces is a collaborative environment that is ready made and can be extendible by custom development.
    Webcenter portal is a template in JDeveloper for building a portal.
    Now, when to use what...
    There are some requirements that should tell you what to use.
    For example when one of the requirements is allowing the possiblity to build microsites, then use spaces. No doubt about it. In webCenter portal (jdev) you can't allow the users to build microsites or seperate group spaces without needing to code a lot of code. This is exactly what spaces is inteded for. Devide the portal into sections where each section have their own set of resources, security, users, pages and so on.
    When a personal space is required so users can build their own dashboard. use spaces. This requirement can be build by using the webcenter portal in jdev but it will be very hard.
    These are just a few differences between spaces and portal.
    Normally when you require a lot of flexibility and major customizations are required, than webcenter portal should be used.

  • Web Center and Document Services

    I have a WebCenter question for which I was hoping to get some help.
    I’m developing a ADF application where I’m adding WebCenter document services to look at a local file system as the content store. Everything works fine except if the file is a movie or audio file. When this happens I get a variety of results depending on the browser and device.
    When I browse to a file and I hit the download link for the file, if it is music or video it only works on Firefox and Safari. It doesn’t work on IE at all. I just get a bunch of gibberish on the screen. It also doesn’t work from any mobile device browser (IPad, IPhone, Droid).
    Again, this is only when the file is music or video. Everything else is working and it works totally fine (even for music files) on Firefox and Safari.
    What do you think. Is there an official list of supported file types for the Document Services on WebCenter?

    I didn't write the code for the download link. I'm using the "Document Manager" service which is an out-of-the-box ADF Task flow included when you download the web-center services.

  • How to use WebCenter Spaces 11g 2.0 Services in WebCenter Interaction 10gR3

    Hi,
    Can someone explain how to use WebCenter 11g Web 2.0 Services in WebCenter Interaction 10gR3. I have installed Webcenter 11g Spaces. I also have Webcenter Interaction 10gR3 installed. Wanted to find out how can I make use of 11g web 2.0 services i.e. wiki,blog,discussions etc. in WCI 10gR3. How can I configure those services in 10gR3.
    As reading oracle notes it says there is a seemless integration of Web 2.0 11g Services in WCI 10gR3 but can't find any steps, tutorials or examples on how to do that. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi
    1. Looks like you created a Clustered Domain, means one Admin Server and another managed server may be for WebCenter stuff.
    2. Did AdminServer started properly and did you give correct username and password that you entered while creating the domain.
    3. While starting the managed server with the command you gave, you need to provide username and password. Did you give the exact username and password. Because the error clearly says invalid username/password like Authentication failed.
    4. NOW, by any chance did you Configured any external LDAP AD to this domain. If yes, try to make the default Authenticator as the first Authenticator by changing the order of authenticators. Also make sure that all Authenticators flags are set as SUFFICIENT OR OPTIONAL. For SOA, right now there is a limitation like Weblogic cannot look into multiple authenticators. It can have only one authenticator alive at a time. There is a workaround though. But see if this is the issue on your side.
    Thanks

  • Web Center Links Service

    I am working on a Fusion Application that has the following requirements:
    1. Links between Fusion Business Objects. For example, link a Fusion Srevice Request Object to another Fusion Service Request Object or to a Fusion "Solution" object.
    2. Link from WebCenter resources to Fusion Business Object. For example, link a a Web Center discussion thread to Fusion Service Request object.
    3. Link from fusion Business Object to WebCenter resources. For example, link a Fusion Service Request object to a Web Center discussion thread.
    Can WebCenter Links service meet all the 3 requirements above? Based on the WC guide shown below, it seems that Fusion Buiness Object (i.e. a Service Request VO) can NOT be a link "to" target for the Links Service.
    http://fmwdocs.us.oracle.com/doclibs/fmw/E10285_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_relationship.htm#CEGBJBCC

    For what it is worth: that is my impression as well as experience to. At least the add link dialog does not allow you to select a custom Business Object. You may be able to customize the taskflow that contains that dialog in order to add such functionality. And you may be able to directly access the underlying Links data store through a dialog of your own making.
    Good luck!

  • Installing Web center suite 11g on Mac OS

    Hi All,
    did anybody tried to install Web center suite 11g on Mac Os snow leopard? I have modified runInstaller bash file to run installer on Mac but all in vain. I have tried to put PLATFORMID=Linux and changed CMDDIR, but now it's cant run runInstaller from Linux directory "cannot execute binary file"
    May be anybody have any idea to install.
    Thank'x in advance
    Shamim

    Inside the owfm_wc_generic_11.1.1.4.0_disk1_1of1/Disk1/install folder there is the "runInstaller" script which builds the appropriate command line options to execute the appropriate "runInstaller" binary stored within platform-specific sub-folders. (eg. owfm_wc_generic_11.1.1.4.0_disk1_1of1/Disk1/install/linux64/runInstaller)
    Non of these binaries work on OS X, and I wouldn't expect them to. Too bad the WC installer is a compiled binary instead of java code like the WLS or JDev installs.
    As for always using VMs, I normally agree. Exceptions to the "rule" seem appropriate when that service is to be shared across multiple VMs and/or workstation-based development IDEs. This is why I run a DB (Oracle 10g express) and LDAP server (OpenDS) directly on OS X. This way I can really run JDev and WC portal development locally (minus UCM, etc...) without having to spin-up a VM every single time.

  • Drag-and-drop in Web Center 11g

    I'm running the Avitek sample portal on JDev 11.1.1.3 with Web Center on integrated WLS.
    Is it possible to enable drag-and-drop of portlets within the page layout - by an end-user?
    I understood this was a feature available in Web Center and not in WLPortal - so has anyone got this working?

    Webcenter supports drag and dropping of portlets out of the box. You don't need to do anything special to enable drag and drop of portlets.
    The only requirement there is, is that users are logged in and they have granted personlization rights.

  • Data entry form to submit to a web Service using webcenter

    Currently using Jdev 11.1.1.3, but have potential to upgrade to 11.1.1.4 or 5
    Most examples I see in the docs is using web services in webcenter is to display data but I need to pass data to a web service to process the data.
    Considering ways to show on a webcenter page a data entry form to send the entered data to a web service. Potential ways:
    1. Use Omniportlet that is based on a web service and define for each of the fields a parameter mapped to a displayed field. Submit the data to the web service to be processed.
    2. Use ADF syntax to create a web service proxy. Create a form with the needed fields, code a managed bean that uses the proxy code to submit the entered data in the form. Place the form on the webCenter page, but the webcenter already have a <af:form>, so a partialSubmit and autoSubmit set to "true" might be needed.
    Haven't used either and would greatly appreciate ideas and suggestions.
    Thanks

    With the omniportlet, you'll also have to test the form and so on :)
    My suggestion is indead an extra step but it is more flexible than just creation a DC from a WSDL. I already have done some implementation in Webcenter for web services and i started by just using the DC from a WSDL but soon i noticed that i needed more flexibility. That's why i suggest to create a proxy and create your own layer in front of it. This way you can easily control what you expose to your DC and do some initializations were needed. It offers a great deal of flexibility. That's why i suggest using the proxy + dc instead of wsdl + dc.
    When you should decide for migrating to Webcenter PS3, you can even expose datacontrols to your resource catalog. This way you can create your DC in JDeveloper and allow the business users to put the data controls on the page. a realy nice feature.

  • Deployment of JSR-109 Web Services on Weblogic 11g (OAS migration)

    Hi.
    I'm being part of an ongoing migration effort from Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 to WebLogic 11g (10.3.6). Some of the OAS applications use old JSR-109 Web Services, where each service has the following components:
    - A SEI interface that extends java.rmi.Remote and declares the service methods, which throw java.rmi.RemoteException (e.g. ServiceSEI)
    - A service implementation POJO that implements the SEI interface (e.g. ServiceImpl)
    - A [Service]-config.xml file that declares the service and relates name, namespaces, packages, interface and implementation (e.g. Service-config.xml)
    - A declaration of the service implementation POJO as a servlet (with mapping) in web.xml (docs says it doesn't have to be technically a servlet)
    - A webservices.xml file that defines the service and references the mapping file.
    - A [Service]-mapping.xml file that defines the WS-Java mappings.
    All the artifacts look right according the old documentation:
    - Programming Web Services for WebLogic Server, Creating a J2EE Web Service Manually: http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/wls/docs92/webserv/jsr109.html
    - Web Services for J2EE 1.0 Final Release Spec: http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/jcp/websvcs-1.0-fr-spec-oth-JSpec/
    The Web Services work OK in OAS. When I try to deploy any of the application that contain one of that services to WebLogic, I get the following Exception:
    <BEA-101216> <Servlet: "WSServlet_Procesos" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "/webapp".

    I obviously though the EAR package given to me was incomplete, lacking the ClassNotFound related class, but the package was OK, and is exactly the same that deploys without problems in OAS.
    The ClassNotFound related class is referenced in the <java-xml-type-mapping> element of the [Service]-mapping.xml file, e.g.:
    <java-xml-type-mapping>
    <java-type>co.com.acme.services.ServiceSEI_serviceOperation_ResponseStruct</java-type>
    <root-type-qname xmlns:typeNS="urn:Service/types">typeNS:serviceOperationResponse</root-type-qname>
    <qname-scope>complexType</qname-scope>
    <variable-mapping>
    <java-variable-name>result</java-variable-name>
    <xml-element-name>result</xml-element-name>
    </variable-mapping>
    </java-xml-type-mapping>
    I searched the OAs installation deployment dirs looking for the missing class and found it was present in a Jar called deployment-cache.jar. According OC4J related documentation, this Jar es auto-generated at deployment time.
    Weblogic 11g documentation says that kind of Web Services will continue to run, without any changes, on version 10.3.x of WebLogic Server because the associated Web services run time is still supported in this release, although it is deprecated and will be removed from the product in future releases (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13760/upgrade.htm). I know the right estrategy is migrate the Web Services, but right now my client needs to deploy and use them as they are. I think WL recognizes my service since internally is calling a "Deploytime109MappingHelper" class.
    ¿Is there any way I can deploy that kind of services to Weblogic 11g? ¿I'm I missing some required step?
    As a workaround, I included the OAS generated deployment-cache.jar into the EAR to deploy in Weblogic 11g and the app deploys without errors, but I see this is not a nice solution.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Esteban

    Hi. The [Service]-mapping.xml file is a standard "JAX-RPC mapping file" according the JSR-109 spec and WebLogic 9.2 doc ([1],[2]). That's the file that references the class. Here's a fragment:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
    <java-wsdl-mapping xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.1" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://www.ibm.com/webservices/xsd/j2ee_jaxrpc_mapping_1_1.xsd">
    <package-mapping>
    <package-type>co.com.acme.services</package-type>
    <namespaceURI>urn:Service/types</namespaceURI>
    </package-mapping>
    <package-mapping>
    <package-type>co.com.acme.services</package-type>
    <namespaceURI>urn:Services/wsdl</namespaceURI>
    </package-mapping>
    <java-xml-type-mapping>
    <java-type>co.com.acme.services.ServiceSEI_serviceOperation_RequestStruct</java-type>
    <root-type-qname xmlns:typeNS="urn:Service/types">typeNS:serviceOperation</root-type-qname>
    <qname-scope>complexType</qname-scope>
    <variable-mapping>
    <java-variable-name>String_1</java-variable-name>
    <xml-element-name>String_1</xml-element-name>
    </variable-mapping>
    </java-xml-type-mapping>
    I'll take a look at the ant task.
    Thank you very much.

  • How To associate a default Template with an asset in web center sites 11g

    In previous versions we could associate a template with an asset, in the edit mode of the asset and that template would be used to render that asset when previewed.
    How can we do that in Web center Sites 11 g so that we don't have to select it again and again.

    You should still have that option, in the Contributor UI when you edit or inspect an asset beneath the asset name is a drop-down box to select the default Template for this asset.

  • Oracle Web Center Suite and Oracle Portal

    1)What is Oracle Portal and why it is used?
    2)What is Oracle Web Center Suite and why it is used?
    3)What is the difference between Oracle Portal and Oracle Web Center Suite?

    1) Oracle Portal is the Portal product that was deployed together with the application server before weblogic server. It is still used a lot for corporate intra and extranets. It is mosly used for intranets and extranets. When you bought the licence for the application server you automaticly had the licence for Oracle Portal. That's why it is so popular.
    Oracle portal is not realy standard based. You mostly will create portlets with PL/SQL or PDK and not realy use the JSR168 standard.
    No with Oracle Portal 11g you can consume JSR168 portlets using WSRP.
    2) Oracle WebCenter suite is the next strategical choose of oracle in portal software. Webcenter is an enterprise 2.0 portal environment while oracle portal is more web 1.5 and has limited web 2.0 stuff. Oracle Portal comes with a complete UI for the user to use to create websites and groups but webcenter is more a framework to incoorporate enterprise 2.0 features into your own fusion web application. Webcenter suite comes with Webcenter spaces. THis is a complete UI to create collaborative websites.
    Webcenter framework is a powerfull framework to create complete enterprise 2.0 sites.
    3) The difference... Oracle Portal is an old product and will not be developt anymore. I've heard portal 11g will be the last version meaning support will stop at 2014. Webcenter is a new product to create state of the art enterprise 2.0 websites.
    Oracle portals is not build on standard and is not realy standardbased meaning is you develop portlets for portal you will not be able to use them in other portals.
    Webcenter on the other hand is completly standard based. It is JSR168 compliant and in the near future it will also support JSR286.
    Oracle portal is PL/SQL based while webcenter is completly java based, based upon the ADF framework from oracle.
    Because WebCenter is based upon the ADF framework you can use the complete ADF framework for your application. For example consuming webservices are very easy in webcenter. If you are using a service oriented architecture you will have lots and lots of work to integrate it with portal. With webcenter this is peace of cake.
    Hope this helps you :)
