Web pages image sizing

In exporting a set of images into web pages, can the individual pictures (each on its own page) be custom-sized?
I see how to size the small images in their array of rows and columns ("Fit images with:" etc), but can't see a way to size the larger images.

Yes,
Go into one of the detailed pages; you should see a 'Detail - xx Pages' area under the overview of thumbnail pages, it should show a detail page. click on that, to preview the individual image page.
Or select one of the thumbnails in the overview and press the little curved arrow in the left top corner.
Then you can choose the 'fit image within' size for the individual/detail pages
To change the quality settings:
Aperture menu -> Presets -> Web presets -> Web Detail...

I am not expert in these, but please check out the following things and see whether it would solve your issue. (All these changes can be easily rolled back in case I'm wrong :). So make note of what you do)
As per your httpd.conf, you have chosen an automatic configuration of Apache by OWCI installer itself. What it does is create an imageserver.conf file in a separate directory and these settings will be included in your httpd.conf as you can see in the first line: Include "C:/bea/alui/plumtreeconf/".
If you check the imageserver.conf in that location, you would find a line like: Alias /imageserver/ "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/". This aliases the original path "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/" to /imageserver"
To confirm whether this is done right, check the following:
1. Acces 'http://<server ip / server name / localhost >/' from your browser
This should display the Apache home page (as per your httpd.conf, it uses the default port 80; so no port number required)
2. Access 'http://<server ip>/imageserver/' from your browser
This should display the directory structure (if its not disabled) inside your 'C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/' folder. Also confirm that all the subfolders are accessible.
3. If all the above is right, it means that your imageserver settings are right. Please check your portalconfig.xml for the correct settings: For example, <setting name="HTTPPort"> should be 7001 in your case. If its something else, change it and restart Weblogic for the settings to take effect.

Web page images move up or down in pcs

I have a similar problem. Just finished my new website which looks great in Iweb but when I publish it it looks different in every browser and even worse in PCs. My website is www.davidleon.biz
The pictures, html widgets and lines seem to come up or down on the screen depending on browser and whether it is a pc or apple & it looks horrible. I updated the system to 2.0.4 and re-plublished everything but still does not make a difference. I even tried to change fonts to more PC friendly ones... Please help I need to start promoting the site asap

Did you know that different browsers interpret CSS files differently, especially when it comes to padding and margins. To make a web-site compliant in all browsers is very difficult unless you are a CSS guru (and in iWeb it is almost impossible).
You have to expect some movement with the images/text in your site, the only thing you can do is keep tweaking the design and checking in IE, FF and Safari until the changes between the 3 are minor.

Web page image quality to printer

I have an Epson cx7800 which I have aligned and cleaned the heads.
The image quality of the print from my G5 iMac to the printer is sort of like a double image of the colored text (for instance, the word DVD will be printed twice, in a blurry fashion, in red and yellow). When I just copy a page from the printer, the quality is fine. It's just the images I'm getting from the Mac to the printer that are poor.
I get this same problem when I print a CD cover from iTunes.
Is there any way I can improve these images?

You posted no system info. Therefore, I also suggest that you also cross-post in one of the "Printer Forums" of whichever OS you are using.

Partial Web Page/Image Load on iPad 3

I have an iPad 3 and on some websites I am consistantly getting only a partial page load. I have checked other iPads at the Apple store and 95% work fine, but there is still the occasional one that doesn't fully load. I can reboot the iPad and refresh several times and everything will eventually load all the way. It seems to be only on certain iPads though they have the same OS version and Safari version.
The loading issue is also inconsistant. Sometimes some images will load but others are gone. Sometimes some images load partially with a colored static look. Other times the images will load but be pixelated. Sometimes I get the blue question mark box. Sometimes images are duplicated or links are incorrectly positioned.
I cannot duplicate this issue on older iPads.
The site loads fine on MAC and PC browsers.
Are there any known issues with the iPad 3 browser that would cause this issue?

This was driving me crazy as well on my brand-new days-old iPad, particularly since it seemed to only happen to mages on our portfolio site! And I, like you, tested several other iPads at the Apple Stores and Best Buys with different results.
In my case, resetting Safari's cache through Settings helped some images but then others would display oddly. Only after contacting AppleCare and being instructed to reset the Network settings (and then clearing Safari's cache again) has the problem finally gone away, and (knock wood) hasn't reared its ugly head again.

I have tried everthing! Firefox is slow to load web pages,images,videos,

don't know if these are getting thru. it took 11 minutes for my e mail to load. then another 5 to set up a support account. REALLY!! and still no help. This is insane crazy. For three days now been doing this.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

How To Create Style Guides for Web Pages

I need to create style guides for websites. I will be provided with the assets (images and required measurements). It will be my job to create style guides using In Design.
I have never used In Design, but I am a member of Lynda and Total Training online. Neither seem to address simple style guides for websites. Both seem to address designing from scratch for print and newsletter creation.
Any links to tutorials? This seems straight-forward, but because I have never done it, I would appreciate direction.

I received a sample of what I'll be working on. Attached is one screenshot (blurred areas to conceal confidential info).
Overall, I will be given web page images (as seen below and as an original sized attachment) like screenshots.
I will be given measurements.
I will create a web style guide with text and the placement of images, and pinpoint where the objects are placed on the pages in pixels. e.g. Hero section - 80 pixels, padding - 40 pixels, etc. You can see this below in the (tiny, or see the larger attachment) text on the sides of the web page image.
The original designer also added some type of padding. You can see it below in blue at the bottom of the page. Is this the norm? How is that done?
Big Question: There are no pixels in InDesign. Are points equivalent, or should I set this (pixel notations) part up in Photoshop?

InDesign form to web page

I did a simple form in InD and put the PDF in a Freeway web page... Freeway converts the PDF image to a 72dpi jpeg.
Is it possible to get a very high quality representation of the form on the web using any InD (or Ily) export tools from this form? It's got some relatively small typesizes (9pt) on it that aren't reproducing well at all on the web page. I've included a link to the actual PDF on the web page, but I just wanted the web page image to be more legible.

Granted that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it works for me. I tried some of the others (Dreamweaver, SiteGrinder) and keep coming back because of it's simplicity and ease of creating boilerplate sites.
The customers that I have and the websites I've done require functionality more than eye candy as well as cost effectiveness.

LR2 web module: second link in web-page ???

My computer is iMac (Intel Duo) with LR2. (my login which is my email: [email protected])
My Question:
Is it possible to add the second link in a Web-page (Flash Template) to an an external Web page in addition to the included "Web or Mail Link"? I need an option to display an enlarged image of the one posted on my Web page. I have seen on many Web pages this functionality initiated by clicking the displayed Web Page image (photo) to enlarge it and another click on the enlarged image returns the image to its original size.
If the above is not possible then Is there any plug-in or software for adding extra link(s) to a LR created (Flash) Web page?

A bit more information. I just exported a gallery and looked at the gallery.xml file. There's an extract of the file below. You can see that: title="" i.e. LR is not populating that part of the code when I type a Site Title into the Site Info panel. Exporting full sized files to web pages, ideas?

I have used the Betterhtml plug-in iPhoto to create web galleries of photos that contain links to the the full-sized orginal file. This is how I share photos with my colleagues. I edit in iPhoto, post to a web page with links to full resolution files and they can download the ones they want. I want to be able to do this in Aperture. Are there any plug-ins or is there a way to do this?

for the web galleries there are thumbnail and detail pages. each of the pages lets you customize the size of the images. you could specify that the image size for the detail pages fit within a square that has a pixel dimension of the longer dimension of your originals. so, if your images are 3000x2000 pixels specify the width/height of the square to be 3000 pixels.
the only caveat is that if you've cropped any of the images which could result in, say a 2500x1800 pixel image, i think the image that Aperture outputs in that case will be up-rezzed to 3000x(whatever) pixels.
thinking some more...
another way to do it would be to manually export a folder full of thumbnail images (call the folder "thumbnails") and a folder full of full-sized images (call the folder "hi-res").
then you could write a PHP page that reads the contents of the thumbnails folder and dynamically creates image links that show the thumbnails, but link to the image files in the high-res folder. easy enough to do, if you know how to use PHP. since the PHP reads the contents of the folder and create the resulting HTML dynamically, you only need to write the PHP page once and use it over and over again. if anyone is interested in how to do this i can post sample code later.

Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
"Develop" menu will appear in the Safari menu bar

Make sure that"Disable Images" is not enabled.

When exporting files to web pages Aperture keeping losing files, so for instance, if I choose to export 600 images to a new web page, it might do 524 images but not the full 600. I've tried resetting Aperture, it's the latest version etc etc. Help please!

I have 3600 images which I need to upload as sublfolders, each with their own URL and at the moment Aperture is dropping of anything from 1 to 90 images.
This is critical as people need to see each and every on of these images online. So if a file has 600 photos in it, Aperture should make a URL with 600 full image pages. And this is what it's not doing. On small files, say 30 or so it seems to work well, it's when it gets to more than that the problem starts.
I've used Aperture in the past under previous versions and not had this problem.
Any help would be great.

Thanks for responding (as it seems as though no one else has been able to provide any insight as of yet)! Not sure if you saw my recent post, but the version of Aperture on the 2008 MacBook has been upgraded to 3.1.2 (not sure how; I bought it in 2009, but only have OS X 10.5.8... which apparently can't house 3.1.2 of Aperture, but hey, like many other anomalies i'm encountering, I'm no longer surprised!). I am unable to upgrade it any further, as it warns me that my OS X does not fit the requirements. I exported the projects as libraries; however, like I posted before, apparently these are from too old of a version for the new Aperture (3.3.1) to handle and import.
It's getting to the point where I'd almost pay to upgrade the OS X on my previous MacBook (10.5.8) to something newer in order to THEN update Aperture to a newer version; however, my previous MacBook simply cannot handle this (the specs are awful -- hence my decision to save up and upgrade to the newest MBP with Retina).
I've spent hours upon hours transferring files, libraries as projects, previews, versions, even masters (though, apparently some of them aren't accessible?) with no luck. I've rebuilt the library and reprocessed everything. And this is all after having to return one MBP already since Aperture 3.3.1 is glitch-y as it is, and froze everything for having a "managed library". So, now that I know that I have to deal with a referenced library in Aperture... I just need to actually transfer my previous library to my new one (hopefully WITH adjustments since these are years worth of photos and work).
Again, any help is appreciated. I've lost enough sleep, time, and vision health over this at this point.
Also, I know Migration Assistant is an option, I was told that it wouldn't work properly anyway because of the different operating systems, and the potential for problems.

Safari browser is not loading images in web pages..

It happens so often nowadays.. When I login to my Facebook, it wouldn't load any images, where it will all be blank..Also, few web pages are not loading in Safari, whereas it loads well in other browsers.. I am using Macbook Pro.. Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4.. Safari Veersion 5.1.7.. Has anyone faced this issue ??

This problem started a few weeks ago once every few days or so, then got more and ore frequent where now it is happening multiple times each day.
I am using Safari 6.1 on an iMac running OS 10.7.5
Random web pages (some way more than others) will not load when I go to them. Sometimes, the text of the pages will load, but no images. Sometimes the URL progress bar will go across about an inch and the screen will go to blank white (this is most often) and it will just sit there. If I leave it alone, usually the web page will finally load about 4-10 minutes later on its own.
I have talked with my ISP and we have tried the following fixes, with no positive results:
When the problem happens, I try pinging the website {using Network utilities) and it always pings just fine.
When the problem happens, I run Traceroute (using Network utilities) and email him a screen shot of the results.
I have changed my DNS numbers to OpenDNS, per his comments.
I have removed the router and plugged in direct.
I have replaced all my Cat5 cables with new Cat6 cables.
While the problem is happening, he can ping me just fine from his end.
When the problem happens, I open Firefox and go to the same site, and have the same blank results in Firefox.
When the problem happens, I can open a new Safari window and go to other sites just fine.
This morning, I had the same issues, so I left it to clear on its own. I then went to Outlook to check my email and I had two emails where the images would not load at all, just like the web pages. So I left it alone for over 20 minutes and still no loading. Then I quit Outlook, re-opened it and the images came in just fine. During that 20 minutes, the web pages loaded in Safari in the background.
I found and read a discussion about this issue ( https://discussions.apple.com/message/22125235#22125235 ) and per that conversation, I created a GUEST user account, closed out of my account and logged in as a GUEST. I then used Safari to browse the web ans while it was faster, eventually after about 30 minutes, I found a page that would not load (one of my usual suspect pages). I then sat back and let it go and after 5 minutes, the page loaded just fine.

Interesting side note . . .
After writing this (above), I clicked on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page and the screen went blank white and it sat there for more than five minutes, when it finally went through. SO, i had my problem occur while submitting my question about the problem!
