Web Server + Front Page

Is it possible to get Front Page or Visual InterDev to recognize the Java Web Server. I keep getting errors because of Front Page extensions not being installed.
Thanks.

I want to do this as well. I've come up with a couple of ideas.
1. Create a custom html page for /groups and/or /users where you add/create the links to the various pieces by hand
- not very friendly to manage and doesn't leverage the dynamic capabilities the current /groups and /users pages have
2. Create some custom .js that adds a class or id attribute to the list or the list elements so they can be dealt with independently. For this to be easy to manage additional information needs to be pulled from the directory (Active Directory in our case) so you can ID students separately from faculty. Then the logic would be to modify group_listing.xsl and have it generate two UL's, one with a class or id attribute of faculty and the other student and loop the respective entries into each UL. CSS can be used to expand/collapse the lists.
- this seems doable if I can only figure out how/where to have the server pull additional information from AD (if the students and faculty are flagged as such in AD). This logic wouldn't deal with staff, but that could easily be added.

  • Web Server rendering pages no in document root

    A developer approached me today with this problem. The website was displaying the intended page, but the document root had a older version of the page present.
    I moved to the "generated" directory of the website and removed the the class and java files then refreshed the page. the server is now displaying the page (jsp) that is in the document root.
    Is there anyone that can explain what is going on in this situation so that i can make the proper adjustments and pass it on to my devs?

    The web server caches content and if a JSP is compiled will serve up the compiled version until it either detects that the source JSP has been updated and recompile it again, or the content of the compiled directory is removed and it needs to be regenerated. This detection is done by checking the timestamp on the file, so if someone copies an older version of the file to the document root, it will get ignored since the timestamp is older. If you want to force a recompilation, update the timestamp of the file by using the touch command if you are on Solaris/Linux

  • Web server logging

    In Labview 8.6 real-time projects, when i go to "Web server: configuration" page of target properties, the "Use log file" checkbox is grayed and unselectable. But it wasn't with Labview 8.2 on same target. Why can't i enable logging? Everything else is working fine

    In 8.6 a new, third party, web server was included in LabVIEW in place of the old internal web server. As we were selecting the features to include in our build of the new web server, we decided that including logging by default on RT targets would be a bad idea because it would consume valuable disc space and the user may not know why.
    This was a mistake and will be fixed in a future version of LabVIEW.

    You are absolutely right, for LabVIEW 2009 scripting is activated automatically. More information about that could be found here. For LabVIEW 8.6 you'll have to follow these instructions. The above links are valid for VI scripting.

  • Configure Web Server

    Hi Everybody
    I have installed Oracle 9.2 with Worflow and HTTP service on my machine. Now I'm trying to configure my web server. The web based page should be http://server_name:port. At this URL, I get the page Oracle Enterprise manager. With the previous Oracle version I got the rigth web server configuration page.
    Can I configure my web server using Oracle Enterprise manager ?
    Cheers
    Alain

    Alain,
    It is possible to configure your web server using Oracle Enterprise Manager from 9iAS2.0.
    There is an Enterprise Manager FAQ document available via Metalink (Doc ID 201387.1).
    There is also an Oracle 9iAS Release 2 Installation FAQ available from Technet that should point you in the right direction:

  • Running a headless VI in Linux through web server

    I need to "embed" a VI in a headless Linux device running labview. Once the VI is running on the headless device I need to be able to connect to the VI through LabVIEW's web server.
    I have the web server and page all configured correctly on the device (meaning, I've been able to connect to the VI through a browser and operate it as desired). The trick is, how do I launch labview and the VI on a headless linux device? Ideally, I'd SSH into the device and launch the VI and labview through a shell script, logout of the SSH session; then I'd connect to the VI through the a browser...
    Advice?

    Figured out a way to do this remotely using SSH. Create a shell script with the following contents
    export XAUTHORITY=/home/<your username>/.Xauthority
    export DISPLAY=':0'
    nohup labview <path>/<your.vi> &
    Log in with SSH and run the above script. This launches LabVIEW in the background and allows you to exit the session without killing the VI. Once running, you can connect to the VI throught the web server using the standard method.

  • BOE R3 and VS2008 IIS Web Site Open Error Front Page Extensions Missing

    Hi,
    Can some please advise.
    We have BOE R3 deployed with TomCat.
    We have IIS for applications Development with VS 2008.
    I have added a the HowToScheduleCustom_VB to the IIS.
    When I Open the Web Site is VS 2008 I get an error Front Page Extensions Required.
    Are the Front Page Estensions required.?
    Or should we be using the Java Eclipse.?

    Are you trying to open the website on your development box (the one that has VS 2008 installed on it) or another server?  If it's on another server, you might want to check out this thread:

  • A web server in front of Sun One App 8

    Hi all, I'm trying to port a web site with jsp and servlet and j2ee applications(JMS) from tomcat&Apache to Sun one application server 8. In my old setup, Aapche acts as a front line where static images are served there, php pages and cgi stuff where tomcat is for jsp and servlets.
    So when i try to port it to sun one 8, i got a couple of problems. Sun one 8 doesnt support cgi and php, so i need a web server in front. So i'm thinking either apache or sun web server in front and funnel jsp/servlet to sun one 8. But i dont know how to integrate such setup. With apache and tomcat, theres this JK2/coyote sitting on port 8009. How do i setup a web server (maybe apache or sun one web) with sun one 8?
    Kien

    I'm looking to do the same. Has anyone done this. I'd prefer apache but willing to look at any solution.

  • Front Page Extensions on Verizon Web Space

    I want to move an MS FrontPage web from a Comcast server over to the allocated Verizon Web Space.  I have "published" the site to disk and simply need to log in to the Verizon server using FrontPage software.  However I have been unable to contact the right person to have FrontPage extensions enabled on Verizon.  Is this possible, or am I "outtaluck"?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You are in the out of luck category. Verizon effectively elminated personal web space for most uses last August when they ended FTP service, and forced all new and updated web work to be done by something called SiteBuilder. There is no support for r Front Page and FTP no longer exists for personal web space. .
    I will refrain from using the descriptions that many have for SiteBuilder. The 10mb Verizon Personal Web spae has become a very bad joke for many of us.
    Realistically if you want to have anything even vaguely resembling a real web site, you need to host it somewhere else, on either a paid host like GoDaddy, or one of the many 'free' web hosting sites.

  • When viewing documents on a Web Server, IE automatically opens a blank page and then opens the document in the default program. The blank screen should close automatically but isn't happening.

    So here is the situation, my company uses a third party scanning software, that puts documents scanned or created onto a webserver. We use a program that grants a user access to view the documents on the webserver. The user will have to log into the system
    using credentials, we have Kerberos doing this. Once the user is logged onto the system they navigate to the document they want to view or edit. So the user wants to view a .pdf file, they click the document they want, and it is supposed to open in the default
    program associated with file extension. ie: .doc would open Word, .xls would open Excel. When the document is loading in the default program Internet Explorer opens a blank page, this page is supposed to prompt the user if they want to open or save the document.
    (I changed the registry to have the files selected to automatically open without this prompt.) The blank screen generated is still staying open, this screen is supposed to close automatically after the prompt or close automatically after the document is opened.
    So when a user is looking at several documents, this floods the screen with all these blank Internet Explorer pages. This problem is only occurring for users that have Windows 7 PC's, XP users do not have this problem at all. My PC is the only one in the company
    that is Windows 7 64-bit, and working properly with the IE blank page automatically closing. I'm wondering what can be done to fix this problem, is it as simple as registering some .dll files or do I need to make a registry change? Any help would greatly be
    appreciated.

    What is the registry change exactly?  Sounds like one which is supposed to avoid the prompt.  I know
    that there used to be such a thing, before the new prompt and I know that some users think that there should be such a thing for any program but I'm not sure if that expectation is valid or not.  I think this may also be related to a concurrent change
    in the OS.  E.g. in XP we had File Types Options editor but starting in Vista that was removed.  You might get some more clues on this tack from NirSoft's FileTypesMan utility.
    The registry change that I did was to remove the open and save prompt. I will be sure to look into that. Our company
    isn't worried about the user's automatically opening the files since they are all trusted. They also do not have the ability to install anything, so if they were to download a potentially harmful file they could never install it. We monitor downloads as well,
    if they download files off the internet that aren't work related we remove their download capabilities.
    Sounds like a scenario for using ProcMon to take two traces and compare them for their essential differences.
    I talked to my boss about using this tool and he is worried about using it. I'm only an intern at my office and do not have the authority to use a program without their knowledge or consent. I will run the idea by them again and see if it's okay I use this.
    I'll maybe make some presentation about how it can help us with our problem and how much time and money it will save. Because I really want to get down to the bottom of this.
    Probably the most significant thing is going to be the Content-type that the files are being served by.
    You could use the Developer Tools, Network Capture to check on that and ProcMon could help explain what happens after that.  A related workaround to change the symptom when the Content-type is not what is expected is to disable MIME Sniffing (e.g. in
    Security options, Miscellaneous section).  In fact, perhaps that could explain your machine's difference with anyone else?  MIME Sniffing is a default, previously known as "save according to type not extension" (or some such wording).
    Okay I will be completely honest I have no idea how to use Developer Tools (F12), yes I could google it, when I tried using it on the blank pages it would never work, I also have no idea what I'm looking at. I should mention that I do not have access to
    the web server. Our programming and development side only has access to our AS400, which is where the web server is located. I do have MIME Sniffing enabled and so does everyone else. I may be wrong but, I believe it is needed in order to open the file extension
    in the correct default program, yes? I thought MIME Sniffing would see a .docx file and then find the appropriate program to open that .docx file in. I may be wrong but I know it's used somehow along these lines.

  • Display image in BSP page,images are on a web server outside of SAP

    Hi,
    I am creating a BSP page for employee profile.The page needs to show an emp picture along with other info.The images are not in the MIME repository,they are stored in a separate web server.I am able to display the page using
    <img border="0"                     src="http://.com/xyz/xyz.bmp" >
    However this is a non secured test server. If the images are on a secured server,I am assuming,an id ,pswd authentication will be required.Can I get the authentication done automatically so that the page is rendered seamlessly for the end user?
    Would SSO help if this web server is a portal server?what if the web server is not a portal server?

    Hi Manidipa,
    The Http class in SAP can also be used in passing the required authentication information to the non-SAP portal system.
    http://searchsap.techtarget.com/whitepaperPage/0,293857,sid21_gci1084087,00.html
    There is an article written by Angeli Axel which does the same. The article has got ABAP HTTP classes and methods to get and post the parameters to the non-SAP portal system.
    The same solution can be done by passing the credentials in the url. The custom solution would be to pass the required credentials in the url and the receiving application should grab those information from the url and confirm the authentication. After that it should be able to provide you the image. After getting the image it can be simply displayed in your BSP using iframe tag.
    For eg if the receiving side is in java, then the following code can be used to receive the username and password. Once you get this you can verify the validity depending on the datasource whether LDAP(MS-ADS, Sun one, Novell edirectory) or ordinary database(Oracle, MS SQL Server .. etc) is used for storing the credentials.
    try {
              String userName = request.getParameter("username");
              String password = request.getParameter("password");
              if (validateUser(userName, password)) {
                 response.sendRedirect("mainpage.jsp");
    The main page here you display the image
    } catch (Throwable t) {
    The above code should be considered as pseudo code for any server side language.
    Please let me know if this helps.
    With regards,
    Rajesh Khanna Venkatesan.

  • Best Practice for serving static files (gif, css, js) from front web server

    I am working on optimization of portal performance by moving static files (gif, css, js) to my front web server (apache) for WLP 10 portal application. I end up with moving whole "framework" folder of the portal WebContent to file system served by apache web server (the one which hosts WLS plugin pointing to my WLP cluster). I use <LocationMatch> directives for that:
    Alias /portalapp/framework "/somewhere/servedbyapache/docs/framework"
    <Directory "/somewhere/servedbyapache/docs/framework">
    <FilesMatch "\.(jsp|jspx|layout|shell|theme|xml)$">
    Order allow,deny
    Deny from all
    </FilesMatch>
    </Directory>
    <LocationMatch "/partalapp(?!/framework)">
         SetHandler weblogic-handler
         WLCookieName MYPORTAL
    </LocationMatch>
    So, now browser gets all static files from apache insted of the app server. However, there are several files from bighorn L&F, which are located in the WLP shared lib: skins/bighorn/ window.css, wsrp.css, menu.css, general.css, colors.css; skins/bighorn/borderless/window.css; skeletons/bighorn/js/ util.js, buttons.js; skeleton/bighorn/css/layout.css
    I have to merge these files into the project and physically move them into apache served file system to make mentioned above apache configuration works.
    However, this approach makes me exposed bunch of framework resources, which I do not to intend to change and they should not be change (only custom.css is the place to make custom changes to the bighorn skin). Which is obviously not very elegant solution. The other approach would be intend to create more elaborate expression for LocationMatch (I am not sure it's entirely possible giving location of these shared resources). More radical move - stop using bighorn and create totally custom L&F (skin, skeleton) - which is quire a lot of work (plus - bighorn is working just fine for us).
    I am wondering what is the "Best Practice Approach" approach recommended by Oracle/BEA - giving the fact that I want to serve all static files from my front end apache server instead fo WLS app server.
    Thanks,
    Oleg.

    Oleg,
    you might want to have a look at the official WLP performance support pattern (Metalink DocID 761001.1 ) , which contains a section about "Configuring a Fronting Web Server Serving WebLogic Portal 8.1 Static Artifacts ".
    It was written for WLP 8.1, but most of the settings / recommendations should also to WLP 10.
