Web Service Demo at JavaOne

Is there any chance that the Web Service Demo to be shown at JavaOne be
available for download? I'm interested in looking under the covers of how
the applet communicates with the WebLogic server using xmlp/soap or
apache-soap.
Thanks,
Frank

Looks like its available from 3rd june.

• Need Suggestion to build a simple web service demo

I'm planning to build a demo using java packages JAX* for my team using my workstation and another standalone box.
I got a Sun One Web Services Platform DVD from JavaOne, but it only support Win200 or XP, too bad our company still using Win NT SP6.
I only need a very simple web service that will bring data from server DB. I knew I can download the JWSDP1.2, but there is no tutorial right now. And I have tried JWSDP1.1 but not really understand what it is doing(because only Hello world service is working). I need to do some modification to change the default server port from 80 to 81, and I need to modified localhost to [my-machine-name] so that the other machine can talk to the JWSDP server.
My question is how can I build up a web service demo really easy and quick and what tool should I used, any suggestion will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Henry

1. Use XML Spy Enterprise edition editor.
2. Goto www.xmethods.com, select service you want to create demo of.
3. Get its WSDL url.
4. In XML Spy SOAP menu there is a command 'create new soap request'. Press that, enter the WSDL url. You will get a SOAP request.
5. Edit SOAP request parameters. Type parameters of your choice.
6. Press 'send request to server'. You will get SOAP response. It will contain result from the requested method.
7. Paste that response inside a JSP.
8. Write a local method which will return same response (remote method's return value) that came from remote web service.
9. Paste that method inside abovementioned JSP. Replace static response in that JSP with the response generated by local method. The method parameters will come from client's SOAP request. Parse SOAP request to get request parameters. (As it's your demo, you know the data types of the parameters).
10. Host that JSP on any Servlet/JSP engine.
That makes your Web Service.
You can use any package like Aapche SOAP, AXIS or JAX-RPC to generate a SOAP client. Use the URL of JSP(step 10) as "endpoint".
Note: Indside JSP make sure that there in no endline and carriage return character. Otherwise it won't be a valid SOAP response.
Good luck.

• Web Services demo - Webpage cannot be displayed

Hello,
I would like to run the example webpages in the Web Services demo project (http://ftp.ni.com/pub/devzone/tut/webservicedemo.zip), but none of the three pages can be displayed in internet explorer.
I have completed every step in the included Readme document, no problem occured when building and deploying the two examples. Also the System Webserver and Applications Webserver are enabled.
Please can anyone help me solve this issue?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Marco

Hi,
For those who ecountered the same problem: I figured it out how to fix it:
Try to add the port number of your Application webserver next to localhost in the URL. Like http://localhost:8080/Math/Sum/1/3.

• Error when running P6 web services Demo

Hi All,
I am trying to run P6 web services demo application, p6 web services server is running, however I get this error when running the demo application:
org.apache.cxf.service.factory.ServiceConstructionException: Failed to create service.
Appreciate if someone can help me to resolve it.
Thanks in advance

If you are getting this error, then you are most likely compiling your code with a different JVM than what is shipped with the application server. Oracle9iAS Release 2 (9.0.2) uses the JDK1.3.1. I got this error when I compiled the code with JDK1.4.0_01.

• OC4J Web Service Demo

I am in the process of evaluating 9ias' web service support.
I downloaded 9ias (developer's preview oc4j_extended.zip - 19MB). Installation was smooth and I was able to get it up running.
However, I couldn't find any web service example from the welcome page (there are only 2 category of test samples: JSP and Servlets). So I looked into the folders and found out the web service demos in $ORA\j2ee\home\demo\web_services\java_services.
I got an error when deployed the web service archive file by running step 3 in readme.txt -
Error: javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: java.io.EOFException: Disconnected; nested except
ion is:
java.io.EOFException: Disconnected
Please advise.
Thanks

Try using rmi default port number:23798
Ex.: java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost_09:23791...

• Web Services Demo (OTNMobileWrapper) not works

I tested in my own database environment and also at my account on htmldb.oracle.com.
- Wheather service works fine
- Amazon works fine
- OTNMobileWrapper did not
I believe the URL and the Action are wrong!
(the Urls in Wheather and Amazon I can call in the browser directly, the Url from OTNMobileWrapper was not found).

yeah, i see what you mean regarding that "OTN Message Service" option in our web services demo. further inspection by a teammate reveals that more than a few of these OTN Live Web Services appear to not be working. i'm currently checking around to see what the deal is with that, but from an html db perspective, though, you should already know what you need to know: it is possible to call web services from within your html db applications. this particular one in our example appears to currently be unavailable (if you do feel it's our "URL and action", btw, please do send that info to [email protected]), but calls to the more stable ones like amazon, for instance, always work.
hope this helps,
raj

• Problem running web service demo 10gR2 form

Hi all,
I have downloaded the Oracle Forms 10gR2 Demos from OTN and I have the problem while running WEBSERVICES form. When I am trying to change value of the currency drop down list to call web services I am getting Java exception with the message “msg=connection refused”.
However I verified the installation of web services http://127.0.0.1:8889/demowebservice/Forms90CurrencyConverter
and its working fine.
Any suggestion will be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I am not an expert on web services, but I believe this message indicates that the server you are trying to connect to (local machine) refuses to talk to you. The reason why can be many.

• JMS Web Services in latest OC4J 9.0.3

What is interesting is the WSDL and proxy appear to have been generated successfully. Even the jmsws2.ear and mdb_service2.jar files appear generated ok. But the web.xml is missing so perhaps this is where it died. Any clues as to what might be wrong ... are changes required in the config.xml file driving the WebServicesAssembly tool?
Thanks for any help.

Went a little further ... given the assembly error seemed to occur on the last step creating the proxy.jar file, I simply skipped over it and did the deployment (changed the build.xml to continue assembly upon failure). This seemed reasonable as all the ear and war files where there; the only missing piece appeared to be the proxy.jar.
The deployment of the service was successful and I downloaded the proxy.jar file from the OC4J instance which in turn allowed me to compile the Web service client. Things were looking up here.
However, when I ran the service I got an error indicating the wrong number of arguments to the underlying queues. Given it got through to the database, I assume my configuration is set up correctly but it is a little hard to debug from here. Here is the error I got (note tried on 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 database):

• JDeveloper "Web Services" tutorial new version needed

Hi everybody,
I'm studying web services now.
I've tried to follow "Publishing, Consuming, Deploying and Testing Web Services" JDeveloper tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/tutorials/9050/mvcmodel_webservices_tut.html), but I've failed. Tutorial seems to be too old. I've got problems with generating web service and so on... This "End2End" web service demo (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/viewlets/10g/WS_End2End_Demo_viewlet_swf.html) is too old as well...
Are there any more web service tutorials (preferrably online) for JDeveloper 10.1.3 except "building simple application"?

I tried to follow "Building a JAX-RPC Web Service" (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/unitedloan/unitedloan.html#p) tutorial, but I've got problems with steps 2,3,4.
Step 2 output: "Could not canonicalize 'P?↕' (The filename, directory name, or volume label synt
ax is incorrect). From system property java.library.path.
Enter an admin password to use:"
I enter password "welcome" as it is said in tutorial, but then step 3 causes problems.
Step 3 output: "Could not canonicalize 'P?↕' (The filename, directory name, or volume label synt
ax is incorrect). From system property java.library.path.
05/08/16 09:24:05 *** (CRITICAL) Tue Aug 16 09:24:05 EEST 2005 [Thread[OC4J Launcher,5,main]] setConfig
java.lang.InstantiationException: jms.xml: port 9127 already in use.
05/08/16 09:24:05 Error starting JMS-Server: jms.xml: port 9127 already in use."
Step 4 fails because "test connection" fails.

• Error running Web Services in DEMO : User is not Authorized error

Hi all,
We created a Web Service in our DEMO installation of ERP9 Tools 8.97, Database Local SSE (User - DEMO, Password-DEMO). The Web Service is using JDE Vanilla BSFN - B0100021 - Formatted Address and created through JDeveloper using JDE BSSV tool.
When we are running the Web Service (TestCustomWebService) from JDeveloper (Right Click and Run) it is providng an url (http://moequbal:8988/context-root-JP55HOL/TestCustomWebServiceSoapHttpPort) and when we are pasting the URL in the browser and entering a valid value in the Input field and pressiing the 'Invoke' Button, the following Error pops up -
"<env:Envelope
xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:ns0="http://oracle.e1.bssv.JP55HOL/types/">
<env:Body>
<env:Fault>
<faultcode>env:Server</faultcode>
<faultstring>Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handling request: oracle.e1.bssvfoundation.exception.E1AuthorizationException: User is not authorized to invoke this published business service)</faultstring>
</env:Fault>
</env:Body>
</env:Envelope>"
Please help.
Thanks,
Tufan

I can confirm that the lab and BSSV functionaly works in DEMO, I have it working nicely. However, I dont think you can deploy this to a Business Services server. I haven't tried as yet. but you can test all the published BSSV via jDeveloper to verify that you have the correct code. It starts O4CJ and web services locally and brings up an input web page to enter the AN8, the data outputs to XML.
Tip:
1) Make sure that you have an entry in the P00950 security workbench. .
2) make sure that you select the BSSV item (i.e CustomAddressManager) and select 'set to publish' available (this only appears on checkin) when you check the object in. Make sure that you have entries in the F98601, 602, 603 tables in Object Librarian
3) Open P00950 select published bssv, click on the grid line (1st column) in the grid form of W00950X click the searchlight, in W00950U hit find you must see your published BSSV in here.
if not you go back to step 2. You must 'set to publish' for the bssv i.e CustomAddressManager object. Otherwise you will not be able to see in the W00950U form.
4) Repeat for the 2nd column and Make sure you select the 'Secure by Method' this will take you to W00950Y form and you must select your bssv and select the 'Allow Execute' on the bottom of the form.
Once you have these in place then you will not get the 'Not authorized' error messages.

• Using Web Services with JD Edwards 9.1 DEMO

Hi everyone,
Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I have been trying to enable the Business Services for the last few days without success.
What I did so far:
- Downloaded and installed JD Edwards Enterprise One Demo 910
- Downloaded and installed the Server Manager
I am able to run the Solutions Explorer, Enterprise One, Enterprise Manager(EM) and Server Manager(SM), but in EM I see no Web Services and in SM I don't see the BSSV Server running.
Could anyone give me some directions of how to make the Web Services work?
Regards,
Luiz

Hi,
you have very few chance to run bssv on demo installation.
You need to deploy the BSSV Server, build and deploy a BSSV pkg, and so on.
The best way to play with BSSV is to run a full JDE version in a couple of virtual machine.
Regards.

• Error running demo PL/SQL consuming web services

I downloaded and installed the code from:
http://technet.oracle.com/tech/webservices/htdocs/samples/dbwebservice/DBWebServices_PLSQL.html
on Oracle 9i version 2 (on both Windows and Solaris).
But I got the following error running the local time
demo:
ORA-29273: HTTP request failed
ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1022
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
ORA-06512: at "XN.DEMO_SOAP", line 72
ORA-06512: at "XN.TIME_SERVICE", line 13
ORA-06512: at line 2
The error occurs on this line:
http_req := utl_http.begin_request(url, 'POST','HTTP/1.0');
Can anybody tell me what I do wrong? Thanks a lot!
Also, is there any alternative ways to consume web services
using PL/SQL only? Many thanks!
Henry X.

Mike,
Thanks so much for your help. I tried your code just now.
