Web service in Mac OS X server - Tiger

How to enable web service? From the server admin panel, it indicates web service is not running and I can't start it as it is grayed out.
Please advise

Hi,
I'm looking for a solution to the grayed out issue myself, but I do have a workaround for you.
Use "sudo apachectl" to start/stop/restart etc the web service when Server Admin has it grayed out and/or says "service unavailable". You will have to edit the httpd.conf and sites files (in /etc/httpd/ ) to set up your configuration -- linux experience helps here.
Follow up here if you find a solution to the grayed out issue and can resume using Server Admin for this.
Hope this helps.

  • Web service deployment on oracle app server, need help

    Hi All..,
When I deploy a web service on the Oracle Application Server (10.1.3.3) the WSDL that is generated from JDeveloper and package with the EAR file is overwritten at deployment time. The parameter names for the method calls for the web service are change from actually parameter names to generic ones. For example, “amount” is changed to “param0” or “vendorId” is changed to “param1”. Is there a way to not let this happen ??
    TIA

  • Lion: Connecting to legacy (pre-Lion) AFP services - and Mac OS X (server)

After upgrading to MacOS X Lion, it was discovered that it was not possible to logon to Novell-shares and NAS-boxes (e.g. Qnap).
Here is a recipe that has been tested OK with the following combinations:
    * Mac OS X Lion -> Novell shares
    * Mac OS X Lion -> Mac OS X 10.5 server
    * Mac OS X Lion -> Mac OS X Lion
Please note that the command-lines themselves must not have CR/NL-characters. Copy the commands to a text-editor and remove format-inserted CR/NL-characters.
Another note: Your logon will be less secure with these changes. Later when e.g. Novell and/or your NAS-box support native Lion-logon, then please remove the AppleShareClient-parameter changes again with the first block.
    Recipe:
The following block can be skipped if you have not previously changed AppleShareClient-parameters:
    sudo -s
    chmod o+w /Library/Preferences
    cd  /Library/Preferences/
    rm com.apple.AppleShareClient.plist*
    ! Restart
The following block makes it possible to logon to: (1) Novell-shares (2) Pre Lion Mac-OS-X-volumes - and possibly non-native Lion logon NAS-shares:
    sudo -s
    chmod o+w /Library/Preferences
    defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleShareClient afp_host_prefs_version -int 1
    ! Restart
You now have to logon a real account (non-guest) on another Mac OS X Lion volume
to catalyst a creation of AppleShareClient-files. (See Apple-support-link) (Is this necessary?)
    ! instead?:
    /bin/sleep 60
    chmod o+w /Library/Preferences
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleShareClient afp_disabled_uams -array "Cleartxt Passwrd" "MS2.0" "2-Way Randnum exchange"
    defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleShareClient afp_disabled_uams -array "DHX2"
    defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleShareClient afp_disabled_uams -array "DHCAST128"
    chmod o-w /Library/Preferences
    PS:
Possibly all volume-links may be deletes and recreated to use the new logon-parameters?

If that does not help, if you could provide me with the following information it would help me out. First, who is your ISP( Internet Service Provider, i.e. Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, ect.)? Second, who is the maker of your router? Lastly, what is the model number and firmware version of your router?

The sample shows siteid (all lower case)

  • Web service proxy - how to use server side in/out objects

We have logic in oracle database. We have pl/sql api with oracle object types as in/out parameters. On server side we have pojo classes with method to convert from/to sql structs, arrays.
pl/sql apis are exposed as web services.
When I create web service proxy, all required pojo classes are created from wsdl on client side.
Currently we are also writting client part of the code(where we also have oracle database and we want to reuse server pojos). Server pojo classes are in separate jar file and used also on a client side.
Is it possible to tell jdeveloper when creating web service proxy, to not create client side pojos, exception classes, ... , but use those from jar file.
Currently I just copy server pojo over generated client ones, make some modifications and it works. But each time I regenerate web service proxy I have to do this step manually.

best is to wrap the generated WS proxy in a JavaBean. This way you can create the exception handling once and apply it to all uses of the WS proxy by overriding the generated code

  • Web Services connection to MS Exchange Server 2007

    Hi everyone,
I try to use the web services of MS Exchange Server 2007 within ABAP. I found the he WSDL file under https://<dns name of exchange server>/EWS/Services.wsdl.
I already tried to create the proxy object under SE80 -> create web service -> consume service, but it ends with an error. I also downloaded the WSDL file and tried to use local instead of the URL to the WSDL file, but I also get several errors.
Have anyone did that before? If there is somebody out there, I would appreciate if we can share our knowledge.
    Thanks in advance,
    Marcel

    Hi together,
first of all thank you very much for your replies, the document is very interessting for the integration of OWA into portal. I will try that later.
I also thought that this should be like consuming a web service and I tried to create that proxy class that Thomas Jung has described in his weblogs and in detail in his ABAP - Next Generation book.
When I try to create the Proxy object I get the error message:
HTTP error (return code 0, message "")
If I try to create the proxy object via local file (I have downloaded the wsdl xml file from the exchange)
then I get several errors, mixed in english and german (I am logged on with english language):

    Exception occurred in library handler
Exception occurred in communication framework:Error in File Upload:

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
Sorry... I don't have an answer to your question... :(
However, I just started trying to figure out the FedEx Web Service stuff. So far, I haven't gotten very far. I've got AXIS and some ShippingService code downloaded but can't seem to figure out how to implement or test it... or any service. Have you found or got any basic Java code that connects to the endpoint and sends a request?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    thanks, brian

    Please forgive the lengthy message!

    --Steve

    Steve,
The 500 error is what we get back from the target server.
This is probably not a bug since I don't think that MII has ever supported the SOAP-Fault node to build the response XML.

  • Web Services Requirements on Oracle Application Server 10g

Is there any special requirements for deploying Web Services to Oracle Application Server 10g? I can deploy a Hello World Web Service to Oracle 9i 9.0.3 (OC4J + Web Cache) without UDDI but if I try to deploy to Oracle Application Server 10g (OC4J + Web Cache) it does not recognize it as a Web Service? Is UDDI now required for Web Services on 10g?

No. Not only it isn't certified, but it is also impossible to run forms compiled with the 11g compiler with the 10g runtime. For 11g there is a install bundle for the developer suite / application server.
    cheers

  • Web Services using MAC Dreamweaver

I have been asked to develop a web site UI that
needs to retrieve data from calls to web services developed by a
third party. Adobe provide a very useful tutorial on how to this
for Windows based development but as an 'artist' I use Dreamweaver
on a MAC OS X system and the tutorial does not seem relevent ?
So, anyone out there point me to how how consume web services
using Dreamweaver for the MAC ??? Any coding I have to do will
    probably be in C#.

  • Can I install OS X Server for Leopard on Macs running non-server Tiger?

I need to install OS X Server on a small business network of 5 Macs and 2 pc's. I need to run Mac software on the pc's using Aqua and need to use the pc's to run software that won't run on the Macs.
All my Macs run 10.4.11 (non-server), so what I need to know is will I be able to buy and install OS X Server (Leopard)? Or do I need to buy OS X Server (Tiger)?
And if I can use the Leopard Server version, can I also install it on my Macs at home that don't connect to the work network?
    Thanks, Ted

    I'm a little confused here.
I need to run Mac software on the pc's using Aqua
Running Mac OS X Server on the Macs won't help here. You can't run Mac software on a PC. The best you can do is screen-share (so the PC can run software that lets it see and control the Mac's screen), but you don't need Mac OS X Server for that.
All my Macs run 10.4.11 (non-server), so what I need to know is will I be able to buy and install OS X Server (Leopard)? Or do I need to buy OS X Server (Tiger)?
You can't but Mac OS X Server 10.4 at all now. It's been EOL for a year or more (I forget when Leopard was released now). Your only option is to buy Leopard Server.
As to whether you can install Leopard Server, that depends on the hardware you're running. If it meets (or exceeds) the minimum specifications for Mac OS X Server then yes, you can install it. Whether it will solve your goals depends on quite what those goals are.
And if I can use the Leopard Server version, can I also install it on my Macs at home that don't connect to the work network?
You can install it on any system you're licensed for. Since each copy of Mac OS X Server is licensed for a single system only, you'll need to buy additional licenses for your machine(s) at home.
