Web Service portlet using pdk documentation issue

Hi,
I have followed the instructions in
http://portalcenter.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/PDK/ARTICLES/how.to.build.web.services.portlets.html
on how to build web service portlets.
I have successfully deployed the WS portlet and can happily call my web Service (RPC style) passing a set of parameters which I have formatted using a stylesheet.
However, every time I refresh the page within portal, it recalls the WS with the previously submitted parameters. Also, if I switch between view and edit mode in portal, it again calls the WS with previously entered parameters.
Can I stop this happening either through a setting in portal or code in my Stub class. (Stub class below)
Thanks alot
Joel.

Hi Joel,
You can enable caching for your portlet. There are three types of caching you can use: expiry, validation, and invalidation-based caching. You can learn about your options in the Enhancing Portlet Performance with Caching section of the Portal Developer's Guide.

  • Web Service portlet in PDK (Urgent!!!)

    I have a .NET web service I would like to consume in the portal and present as a portlet. For several reason I do not want to use OMNI (not the least of the reasons is after 3 weeks of working with oracle tech support on a corresponding I still can’t get OMNI and WebClipping running)
    Either way, the WS consumption system with xsl/xslt controlled presentation as seen in Web Services sample provide in the PDK suits my needs a lot better.
    Now as I mentioned I have a .NET service running and well tested.
    I can indeed consume it and even apply XSL, what I can’t do however is to pass parameters to web service.
    I define portlet with something like:
    <portlet class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.DefaultPortletDefinition">
              <id>25</id>
              <name>Listings</name>
              <title>Listings Web Service Portlet</title>
              <shortTitle>Phone Listings</shortTitle>
              <description>Web Service demonstration portlet.</description>
              <timeout>100</timeout>
              <timeoutMessage>portlet timed out</timeoutMessage>
              <acceptContentType>text/html</acceptContentType>
              <renderer class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.RenderManager">
              <contentType>text/html</contentType>
              <charSet>UTF-8</charSet>
              <showPage class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.webservice.DocWebServiceRenderer">
                   <contentType>text/html</contentType>
                   <logging>true</logging>
                   <endpointURL>http://myserver.com/webservices/listings.asmx</endpointURL>
                   <soapAction>http://myserver.com/webservices/getPerson</soapAction>
                   <literal class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.webservice.LiteralXML"
                   handler="oracle.portal.provider.v2.webservice.LiteralXML$Handler">
                   <element name="getPerson">
                        <attribute name="xmlns">http://myserver.com/webservices/</attribute>
                        <element name="inputStr"
                        bind="urlParams/lname"
                        default="Yu"
                        prompt="Please enter last name"/>
                   </element>
                   </literal>
                   <escapeOutput>false</escapeOutput>
              <responseXSL>listings.xsl</responseXSL>
              </showPage>
              </renderer>
         </portlet>
    This actually seem to work and in the …_literal.xml log file I can see something like that:
    <getPerson xmlns="http://myserver.com/webservices/">
    <inputStr xmlns="http://myserver.com/webservices/">Yukh</inputStr >
    </getPerson >
    (Yukh – is what I passed as urlParam)
    The problem however is that service that should run a query with “WHERE lname LIKE ‘<inputStr>%’” returns the whole datatable rather then only those records that starts with Yukh in the lname column. In short request parameter is ignored by web service (or not passed)
    The only difference between my portlet and samples (most of which don’t work as advertised by the way) is that oracle …_literal.xml log file doesn’t have xmlns in the sub elements
    <WhoIs xmlns="http://tempuri.org/">
    <DomainName>oracle.com</DomainName>
    </WhoIs>
    (I have no idea why mine does (I define no attributes for inputStr element)
    If you have any idea what I might be missing or doing wrong please let me know!!! I’ll greatly appreciate.

    We tried using Omniportlet. It expects the resultset in ROWSET/ROW format. Our .Net Webservice doesn't return in rowset/row. We tried transforming using XSL, but even then it didn't work.
    Thanks

  • Client proxy consuming web service provider using logical port issue

    Hi All,
    I have a proxy client having a logical port (configured using  NWDS)  to consume a web service in the provider system.
    In the logical port, I have given target address, and logical port name. While moving this client proxy NWDI dev track to Q and prod,
    how do I change this target address to point to Q and prod respectively. In other words, even though I am using Visual admin to configure the destination url for the logical port, to point to Q and prod, its still referring to the dev environment provider service after moving the proxy client to Q and prod. What is the suggested approach to take care of this issue
    Thx
    mike

    I can only help from that point of view that I believe this question belongs to the forum

  • Issue with creating Web Service Client using Oracle JDeveloper

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a Web Service Client using Oracle JDeveloper. I set the Project compiler property to JRE 1.4
    When I run the web service client, it throws me bunch of errors saying:
    'Error(32,2): annotations are not supported in -source 1.4'
    I am wondering why JDeveloper is using annotations even after I set the compiler property to 1.4
    I am following this link to create the webservice client:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/webservices-forms-11g-094111.html
    Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott.

    Dear Shay,
    Thanks for your prompt response.
    You are right. JDeveloper 11g uses JDK 6 style annotations for the clients it creates. But you can change the JRE Version used at compile time by following these steps:
    1. In the Applications Navigator, right-click the Project Nanem node and select Project Properties... from the context menu.
    2. Select the Compiler node and check the Source Files and Generated Class Files dropdown lists. You may change these versions depending on the version of the JRE you are using with Forms to ensure that the compiled
    classes from JDeveloper can be read by the JRE used by Form.
    So I selected JDK version 1.4 there.
    Sorry that I did not mention that we are using Oracle Forms 10g. That is the reason I selected JDK 1.4
    Thank you.
    Scott.

  • Problem running Web Service that uses OracleXMLSave on Oracle AS 10.1.3

    I am trying to deploy a Web Service that uses OracleXMLSave. The service was built in Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and is deployed to 10gR3 AS. I have all the utitlites available from the 10g Production XML Developers Kit installed . The code compiles and generates correctly . I then deploy to an EAR file that inlcudes the applicaiton code and also all the XDK libraries . No problems so far. But when I run the app, I get an exception like the one below. It says it can't find XMLType . The funny thing is that this library (xdb.jar) and all other related libraries are there in the EAR file . In fact the class loader seems to see it because the exception says that it is there (see text below).
    I have added all the libraries from XML Developer kit like xdb.jar , xsu12.jar , etc. I have also verfieid that the files are selected in the WebServices.deploy file and also present in the EAR file . (See full list below the eror message below. ).
    It looks like for some reason the class loader can't load the class even though it seems to know that the class exists in the path.
    Been sweating on this for a while (probably staring it at too long :) and would really appreciate some help.
    This is the exception thrown when the OracleXMLSave Class is called for the first time.

    Well I got the EJB lookup working but only when I changed the Provider Url to the pre-10.1.3 format e.g. ormi://someserver:12421/someapp and used jazn.com/oc4jadmin as the username. After reading the online documentation, I didn't think this should work!
    Another issue I am having is casting a datasource returned from a JNDI lookup for a datasource. We used to do the lookup in the code and cast to an OracleDataSource. Now it is throwing a class cast exception to ManagedDataSource. Is there a quick and easy solution to this? I really don't want to have to go into the code and change this cast so it'd be great if we can get this working without changing code. This code has been working in a prod environment for two years now on 9.0.3 -> 9.0.4...

  • Web Service consumer using ABAP-PROXY

    Hello,
    I want to test Web Service consumer using ABAP-PROXY . So I do what is explain in the weblog :
    [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Snippets/WebServiceconsumerusingABAP-PROXY]
    But when I execute the programm, the message : 'No valid source context supplied'.
    But, proxy and port are ok and activate.
    Can you help me.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jitesh,
    Thanks for the link.  I checked but did not find helpful info there.
    I have managed to make it work yesterday.  Two issues were identified.
    1. The namespace in the WSDL file imported into ESR as an external definition.  I need to create the same namespace in ESR before importing the WSDL and then import the WSDL into that namespace.
    2. The authentication method.  The authentication method in the IIS configuration of the .NET web service has to be set to Basic Authentication.  Then I set logical port of the consumer proxy in the OSAMANAGER to use Basic Authentication also.  So far only the Basic Authentication works in my test scenario.
    I am closing this question.

  • 401 HTTP Response for remote web service portlet

    Hi, I am trying to configure IIS web page in ALUI as a remote web service portlet. I have used one of the help HTML pages of IIS server to configure portlet.
    http://localhost/IISHelp/iis/htm/core/iiwltop.htm
    However, I am getting 401 http response error (You are not authorized to view this page) when i view the portlet. The same URL above works fine if I open in a stand alone browser. Could any one of you help in resolving this please?
    Thanks
    Sampath

    Hi, thanks a lot for your help. I am using windows XP professional. When I set my directory security & grant anonymous access to IUSER the default help site also not coming up, i am geting 401 error.
    When I checked the option Integrated Windows Authentication, then in Internet Explorer the help pages are coming up with out asking for user name and password. I installed firefox and checked. In Firefox, a prompt was coming to fill user name and password. I filled in my local windows authentication details and the page was working.
    I provided the windows login details for the remote server in Administrator's basic acuthentication information. I was still getting the same error (401 error). Then I went to IIS, drectory security settings and checked Basic Authentication(password is sent in clear text) & unchecked Integrated Windows Authentication, the website pages in IIS were showing up in ALUI. WIth this, my problem is half solved.
    The next problem is, I have siebel analytics web application running on IIS. This website requires user name and password if i have to access any report (say). It automatically redirects to my login page. Now I do not want portal user to enter the login details again for accessing siebel reports. But since I have two authentications (now) one for IIS and one for Siebel reporting website, any one know how to configure this?
    I was trying to configure different authentication in web service that i was creating in ALUI, but siebel website authentication information I am providing in web service is overriding the IIS authentication and I am getting 401 error (initial problem). I appreciate any auggestions.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Problem creating web service client using WSM Policies

    Hello everyone,
    I'm trying to make a simple java client to a Web Service secured using a WSM 11gR1 policy (from Soa Suite 11.1.1.2.0). The policy on the server side is oracle/wss11_x509_token_with_message_protection_service_policy which I attached via the Weblogic Admin Console. To implement the client I'm trying to follow the instructions from this documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e13713/owsm_appendix.htm#WSSOV386 section "Policy Configuration Overrides for the Web Service Client" and also I'm using OEPE 11.1.1.3.0 (Eclipse 3.5.0) to develop the client. The only weblogic jar I've added to the build path is the weblogic.jar . Unfortunately, the oracle.wsm.security.util.SecurityConstants.ClientConstants interface (used in the example A-6) is not included in this jar and I have no idea what other libraries should I include in order to follow the example. I tried manualy adding other jars but without success. In fact I found one jar which includes this interface, the wsm-secpol.jar but it does not have the properties described in the documentation, so I guess it's not the right jar, and also I don't think this is the right procedure since there might be another dependent jars. So I would like to know what libraries exactly I should add to the build path (or some other procedure if you noticed I'm doing anything wrong)
    Thank you !

  • Failure to generate WSDL from web service when use xmlbean

    Hi, I have a web service that uses xmlbean generated by schema. The schema from 3rd party is in a separate project since it's used by another web app and ejb project. In wlw103 I have included the schema project in this web service project's Java Build Path. The web service compiles, but when I tried to generate WSDL a Error window shows and says "The WSDL cannot be generated from the web service due to unexpected runtime errors".
    The following is the detail. What do I need to do to make the xmlbean available for my web service? Thanks

  • Steps to expose a web service without using SR

    Hello,
    How can I expose a web service without using the service registry?  Is there some documentation for this process?

    Thanks for the response.  Although, I do not have an * in the Sender Agreement.

  • Errors creating a Web Service Proxy using Microsoft WSDL.exe tool

    I have deployed a BPEL process using JDeveloper. This process can be invoked from the BPEL console and completes as expected. I am trying to create a Web Service Proxy using the Microsoft WSDL.exe tool so that the process can be invoked from a Microsoft Word document. This process is based on the AutoLoan example in the Developer's Guide for Microsoft Office Interoperability B25781-01.
    WSDL.exe returns the following error message
    Error: There was an error processing 'http://erp.template.co.uk:8889/orabpel/default/HonorariumSmartDoc/1.0/HonorariumSmartDoc?wsdl'.
    - The document at the url http://erp.template.co.uk:8889/orabpel/default/HonorariumSmartDoc/1.0/HonorariumSmartDoc?wsdl was not recognized as a known document type. The error message from each known type may help you fix the problem:
    - Report from 'WSDL Document' is 'There is an error in XML document (19, 7).'.
    - A schema with the namespace '' has already been added.
    - Report from 'DISCO Document' is 'Discovery document at the URL http://erp.template.co.uk:8889/orabpel/default/HonorariumSmartDoc/1.0/HonorariumSmartDoc?wsdl could not be found.'.

    - Report from 'XML Schema' is 'Expected Schema root. Make sure that the root element is <schema> and the namespace is 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' for an XSD schema or 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-data' for an XDR schema. An error occurred at , (2, 2).'.

  • How to invoke a web service asynchronously using ws-addressing model?

    Hi Gurus,
    We are invoking an external web service asynchronously using Oracle Work Flow Business events using the following mechanism -
    1)Created a web service invoker event to invoke the web service.
    2)Created a subscription that invokes the web service (provided the wsdl address, operation info).
    3)Defined a subscription parameter WFBES_CALLBACK_EVENT with value pointing to a recieve event.
    4)Created a receive event(parameter value for WFBES_CALLBACK_EVENT) and a subscription that directs the response to a custom PL/SQL function to process response.
    so far so good. We were able to invoke the web service and get and process the response.
    Problem: The external web service can take upto 10 hrs to process the request. A time out of 2 hrs is set on the server hosting the external web service. So when the external web service takes more than 2 hrs to process the request and it times out and we get the following error on EBS side -
    'l_error_message:oracle.apps.fnd.wf.bes.InvokerException: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: oracle.j2ee.ws.saaj.ContentTypeException: Not a valid SOAP Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1'
    Now the external web service providers are suggesting that we are not calling their web service asynchronously and we should use ws-addressing model to do so.
    Is there a way to invoke this web service using ws-addressing model using business events or from PL/SQL or OA middle-tier?

    Bharat,
    You dont need a Business Event setup to invoke a BPEL process from PL/SQL unless you have a special case and you need to process the response from the BPEL process in a separate thread (or in background)..
    For a straight call to BPEL process from PL/SQL, here is a sample script -
    function "MYTEST0" return varchar2 AS
    soap_request varchar2(30000);
    soap_respond varchar2(30000);
    http_req utl_http.req;
    http_resp utl_http.resp;
    resp XMLType;
    i integer;
    helpStr varchar2(30000);
    BEGIN
    soap_request:= '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''UTF-8''?>
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:ns0="
    http://xmlns.oracle.com/TestWS">
    <env:Body>
    <ns0:TestWSProcessRequest>
    <ns0:input>abc</ns0:input>
    </ns0:TestWSProcessRequest>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>
    /* the BPEL process name is TestWS */
    http_req:= utl_http.begin_request
    ( 'http://hostname:7777/orabpel/default/TestWS/1.0'
    , 'POST'
    , 'HTTP/1.1'
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml');
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Length', length(soap_request));
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'SOAPAction', 'process');
    utl_http.write_text(http_req, soap_request);
    http_resp:= utl_http.get_response(http_req);
    utl_http.read_text(http_resp, soap_respond);
    utl_http.end_response(http_resp);
    resp:= XMLType.createXML(soap_respond);
    resp:= resp.extract('/soap:Envelope/soap:Body/child::node()',
    'xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"');
    helpStr := '';
    i:=0;
    loop
    helpStr := helpStr || substr(soap_respond,1+ i*255,250);
    i:= i+1;
    if i*250> length(soap_respond)

    Hi,
    The error message said
    the Permission(java.lang.RuntimePermission getClassLoader) has not been granted to USF.
    I'd follow the suggestion
    The PL/SQL to grant this is dbms_java.grant_permission( 'USF','SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'getClassLoader', '' )

  • How to retrieve the multiple rows data on PDF form in a web service method using WSDL DataConnection

    How to retrieve the multiple rows data on PDF form in a web service method using WSDL DataConnection.
    I have a multiple rows on PDF form. All rows have 4 textfields. I want to submit the multiple rows data to a method defiened in webservice.
    Unable to retrieve the data in multiple rows within webservice method.

    Hi Paul,
    I'm now able to save the retrieved xml in a hidden text field and create dynamic table, and I'm able to fill this table from the XML, but the problem is that I could not find the correct way to loop on the xml, what I'm trying to say, the table will have number of rows with the data of the first row only, so can you tell me the right way to loop on the xml!
    this is my code
    TextField1.rawValue=xmlData.document.rawValue;
    xfa.datasets.data.loadXML(TextField1.rawValue, true, false);
    for(var i=0; i<count; i++)
    xfa.form.resolveNode("form1.P1.Table1.Row1["+i+"].Num").rawValue = xfa.datasets.data.record.num.value;
    xfa.form.resolveNode("form1.P1.Table1.Row1["+i+"].Name").rawValue = xfa.datasets.data.record.name.value;
    Table1.Row1.instanceManager.addInstance(true);
    Thanks
    Hussam
