Web Service tutorial using NetBeans 5.5 fails on OS X Tiger

I have tried doing this tutorial using NetBeans 5.5 with the Enterprise Pack and Visual Web extensions installed. I am able to get it to run fine on my WinXP machine configured with the same NetBeans 5.5 stuff as the Mac. I have tried it several times always with the same result. Any insight that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
The tutorial is located: http://www.netbeans.org/kb/55/websvc-jax-ws.html
Below is what is being returned in the Output window upon Run:

This problem gets solved if you do NOT provide the Java path to the installer.
e.g.
if you have Java in /usr//bin/java
make sure your PATH does not have /usr/bin....
so basically which java throw error....Then provide the JRE PATH in oraparam.ini for the installer to start ...
Give it a try...

    Hi Vivek,
    This problem occurs when Web Service provider is not reachable , it means the server which provides services to the WSDL is temporally down or not reachable . To check whether the services is reachable , you could paste the WSDL URL in your internet browser , if it opens then problem is with NWDS configuration of proxy else sever is not reachable .
    In your case problem is not with NWDS but with server as it looks that it is temprorarly down. To avoid such problem in future you could also store the WSDL file locally on your system and then can import ( obvioulsy you requires at least once to get the WSDL ) . This will help only while modelling the application to run you will require the service provider to be up and runnning
    You could use other tutorials to try AWS Model in Web Dynpro .
    regards
    Dhawal

  • About Using Ant in Web Services Tutorial 1.0.1

    I downloaded the latest version of the Java Web Services Tutorial 1.0.1 and trying to run the
    sa,ple applications from ConvertedApp.java. When I type in "ant build"(ant version is 1.4.1), I
    am gettigng the error saying
    " Usage is java [options] class ........"
    as if implying that the classname is missing somewhere!!
    Can anyone please give any clue what might go wrong here?
    (I am on Windows 2000).
    Thanks

    Hello.
    For example, build.xml is in the folder:
    d:\jwsdp_tutorial\docs\tutorial\examples\gs\build.xml
    Then write a bat-file in the same folder that looks like this:
    -------------------- BEGIN --------------------
    set JAVA_HOME=d:/j2sdk1.4.1
    set ANT_HOME=d:/jakarta-ant-1.5.1
    set CATALINA_HOME=d:/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.18
    %JAVA_HOME%/bin/java -cp %JAVA_HOME%/lib/tools.jar;%JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib/rt.jar;%JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib/jaws.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/ant.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/optional.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/xercesImpl.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/xml-apis.jar;%CATALINA_HOME%/server/lib/catalina-ant.jar -Djwsdp.home=d:/jwsdp_tutorial org.apache.tools.ant.Main -logfile build.log -buildfile build.xml
    -------------------- END --------------------
    Additionally you have to install j2sdk1.4.1, jakarta-ant-1.5.1 and jakarta-tomcat-4.1.18.

    Could you please help me with this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Azeem.

    Hi Azeem.
    Check out values specified for JAVA_HOME, PATH and CLASSPATH under environment variable. Was facing the same problem. Changed the values to point to jdk1.5 and it is working now.
    BTW.
    You don't have to uninstall jdk1.4.
    Cheers!!!

  • Could not run the bookstore1 example from the Java Web Services Tutorial

    The bookstore1 servlets example from the Java Web Services Tutorial (issue Aug 1, 2002) was built and deployed successfully by using the deploytool (following the steps described on pages 498ff of the tutorial).
    After deploying the application the Tomcat Web Application Manager shows the entry:
    /bookstore1:stopped:0:D:\Programme\Java\tomcat\jakarta-tomcat-4.1.8\work\Standalone\localhost\manager\bookstore1.war
    when entering the command: http://localhost:8080/manager/list.
    After entering the command: http://localhost:8080/manager/start?path=/bookstore1, the (uncomplete) message appears:
    FAIL - Application at context path /bookstore1 could not
    It should be noted that I was able to build and deploy the application GSApp (chapter 3 of the tutorial) successfully.

    Did you set up the database as described in
    http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.0/tutorial/doc/WebApp13.html#69868

    Hi,
    Unfortunately, your web service is failing at runtime because JDeveloper (and more specifically, the embedded OC4J) is installed in a directory whose path contains a space character. If you move JDeveloper from "Program Files" to another directory, perhaps "Program_Files", then it'll all go smoothly.
    Apologies if this causes you inconvenience.
    Regards,
    Alan.

  • Create Web Service System using WSDL URL

    Hi,
    Please help me create a Web Service System.
    Following is the test result when I perform Connection Test after creating a system
    Test Connection with Connector
      Test Details:
    The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Retrieve the default alias of the system
    2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object
      Results
    Retrieval of default alias successful
    Connection failed. Make sure that Single Sign-On is configured correctly
    Thanks,
    Atul

    Let me reiterate my problem.
    I created the System as following
    Creating System's Object:
    1) Go to System Administration
    2) Go to System Configuration
    3) Go to Portal Content on Object Based Navigation Area (Right Side Panel)
    Note:  For avoiding confusion it is recommended to create a folder in which we are creating System Object.
    4) Right Click on Portal Content, select New -> System (from Template)
    5) This action will display a new view on right side, now choose Web Service System using WSDL URL radio button from the existing templates. Click Next
    6) Give the System Name  i.e. System_WS and System Id  (which are mandatory fields) incase you want to give any brief notes about the system then give it in Description field.  Click Finish.
    8) Choose Open the object for editing Click OK.
    9) Now to create a Web Service System, we need WSDL URL.
    10) There are lots of freely available WSDL files on internet, search for any such WSDL file.
    11)  In the Properties area of system give the appropriate WSDL URL
    12) Choose System alias, from display menu and give alias as System_WS.
         This alias name will be the name of Web Service System.
    I used the following url
    http://soap.amazon.com/schemas2/AmazonWebServices.wsdl
    After the system is created,
    1) Right click on the created system> open > object
    2) Drop down for Display options is changed to Connection Tests from what it shows as object
    3) Check the check box for the test name Connection Test for Connectors
    4) Result shows that the connection failed. The error message was posted in my first question.
    Thanks,
    Atul

The policy on the server side is oracle/wss11_x509_token_with_message_protection_service_policy which I attached via the Weblogic Admin Console. To implement the client I'm trying to follow the instructions from this documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e13713/owsm_appendix.htm#WSSOV386 section "Policy Configuration Overrides for the Web Service Client" and also I'm using OEPE 11.1.1.3.0 (Eclipse 3.5.0) to develop the client. The only weblogic jar I've added to the build path is the weblogic.jar . Unfortunately, the oracle.wsm.security.util.SecurityConstants.ClientConstants interface (used in the example A-6) is not included in this jar and I have no idea what other libraries should I include in order to follow the example. I tried manualy adding other jars but without success. In fact I found one jar which includes this interface, the wsm-secpol.jar but it does not have the properties described in the documentation, so I guess it's not the right jar, and also I don't think this is the right procedure since there might be another dependent jars. So I would like to know what libraries exactly I should add to the build path (or some other procedure if you noticed I'm doing anything wrong)
    Thank you !

    Hi
    I am having the same problem almost where i wrote a client to comsume a JWS server in https. Where the server is setup to require a certificate to connect to.
    My code:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    DataBaseSyncServerImpl port = new DataBaseSyncServerImplService().getDataBaseSyncServerImplPort();
    int number1 = 20;
    int number2 = 10;
    System.out.printf("Invoking divide method(%d, %d)\n", number1, number2);
    double result = port.divide(number1, number2);
    System.out.printf("The result of dividing %d and %d is %f.\n\n", number1, number2, result);
    when run this code throw
    run:
    [java] Invoking divide method(20, 10)
    [java] Exception in thread "main" javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: HTTP transport error: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshak
    eException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCert
    PathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
    Does any one know how can I solve this problem or how can I make the client be able to use self signed certificates. Any help is greatly apprecited. Thanks

  • Failure to generate WSDL from web service when use xmlbean

    Hi, I have a web service that uses xmlbean generated by schema. The schema from 3rd party is in a separate project since it's used by another web app and ejb project. In wlw103 I have included the schema project in this web service project's Java Build Path. The web service compiles, but when I tried to generate WSDL a Error window shows and says "The WSDL cannot be generated from the web service due to unexpected runtime errors".
    The following is the detail. What do I need to do to make the xmlbean available for my web service? Thanks

  • Web Services tutorial - problems executing

    I've recently installed jdeveloper onto winXP pro from the jdev9i_902.zip download and installed to D:\jdeveloper. Following the instructions I also installed JDK1.3 to D:\jdk1.3.1_04. I ran the setup for oc4j.

    Dave

    Dave, given the messages returned indicate your configuration is looking at a j2se1.4 directory, I think that is the problem. Neither OC4J or JDeveloper are certified with JDK 1.4. I realize that you have installed 1.3 so my guess is that in following step 8 and 10 of the "Installing and Running Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE" where it says:
    8. Install the J2EE container using the following command: java jar oc4j.jar install
    10. Start the J2EE container by issuing the following command: java jar oc4j.jar Show me.
    the problem is that the commands were not prefixed with the location of your JDK 1.3 installation and by default picked up the later JDK 1.4. I think you will be able to get around it by running the commands as follows (replacing directory names by your locations):
    <jdk1.3_home>\bin\java -jar oc4j.jar -install
    <jdk1.3_home>\bin\java -jar oc4j.jar
    Your JDeveloper should be fine unless you changed its JDK to also be 1.4; by default it uses its own built-in 1.3 JDK.
    Hope this points in the right direction.

    Hi Rajesh,
    So when all was said and done, did you get the Google Web Service to work and display correctly?  The documentation (tutorial) is ok until it gets to the end (for Displaying results) then it's all but non-existent.  I tried going through the tutorial but didn't get this to work.

  • Cannot complie the example at Java Web Services Tutorial 1.3,Ch3

    Hi all,
    At the Java Web Services Tutorial 1.3 Chapter 3, there has an example but I cannot compile!
    The is the output of ant:
    C:\jwsdp-1.3\jwstutorial13\examples\gs>ant build
    Buildfile: build.xml
    BUILD FAILED
    file:C:/jwsdp-1.3/jwstutorial13/examples/common/targets.xml:1: taskdef class org.apache.catalina.ant.ListTask cannot be found
    Total time: 5 seconds
    Would you please give me an idea to solve this problem?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Ok...this is driving me nuts!!!
    I am getting the same error (blah blah blah...ListTask cannot be found) and I have looked over the forum and copied over the catalina-ant.jar file into the apache-ant/lib dir. I have also included every path I can think of in the PATH env var and CLASSPATH env var...
    PATH = C:\jwsdp-1.3\jwsdp-shared\bin;D:\pipeline\products\cygwin\bin;D:\Ant\apache-ant-1.5.4\bin;C:\jwsdp-1.3\apache-ant\bin;D:/pipeline/products/jdk;D:/lcms/products/jdk
    pipeline is where my jdk (I have two different versions because two different apps) is and the ref to D:\Ant...is for another app.
    CLASSPATH = C:\Program Files\Altova\xmlspy\XMLSpyInterface.jar;C:\jwsdp-1.3\server\lib\catalina-ant.jar;C:\jwsdp-1.3\common\lib
    ignore the XMLSpy stuff
    please help...thanks ahead of time.
