WebCenter / BPM / UCM

Hello All!
I am new to Oracle Fusion Middleware and am hoping to find some initial guidance to get started! I'd like to utilize Webcenter to integrate repository advanced searching with UCM and document workflow with BPM.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to begin as far as tutorials for integrating these three items and/or examples I can review?
Thanks Everyone!

What exactly do you mean by "integrate repository advanced searching "?
You can build custom search components by using the RIDC API or the JCR Data controls.
There is also a BPM component to integrate UCM with BPM for the workflow. Webcenter will show an icon if the document is in a workflow and will allow the users to approve or reject a document.

It turns out, the "Intradoc ServerPort" was not set in UCM. In Enterprise Manager: Content Server: Oracle Universal Content Management: Configuration, it was blank. As soon as I set this to "4444" and restarted it fixed this error.
I'd like to thank all who contributed.

  • Webcenter BPM spaces tries to connect to localhost:8001

    Hi,
I got two 11.1.1.7 domains, one with webcenter ( discussions, portlet, spaces) together with ucm and a soa, osb bpm domain.
both got its own server and rcu ( not on 1 server ).
I followed this guide and got it BPM workspace spaces successful deployed on the wc spaces server. All soa foreign ejb links and datasources are working
    Configuring Oracle WebCenter Portal - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.7.0)
Soa/bpm is also working and also tested the identity service.
Now I want to log in to webcenter spaces and this gives me errors ( lookupuser operation of the identity service).
I used wireshark and add some extra fmw logging to the soa server and it shows the wc user is authenticated on the soa server
after  that I enabled the http logging on the webcenter server and I see that the wc spaces container ( bpm login bean) sends a http request to the localhost:8001 and not to the soa server address.
Does someone knows where I can find or change this localhost address , I already search the config domain folder and the mds database.
    Thanks

  • Antivirus scan implementation for WebCenter Space/UCM upload document

    Hi all,
I am trying to find some information how to implement the anti-virus scanning engine in integrated Oracle Content Manager (UCM) in WebCenter Spaces. More specifically, when a user uploading a document in the Document Manager portlet by clicking Upload button, the document is scanned by an anti-virus engine on the server before it saves to the document repository. This functionality can be found in most of the online email services such up Yahoo and Google Mail.
Has anyone in this forum done/investigated such anti-virus scan function?
I know this will need to dig into the Upload "event", to hookup the scanning engine. Does anyone know what jar/war file with the "upload" class or javascript controlling the Upload button?
    Thanks in advance.

To be honest, i don't think this is something you can do in webcenter itself.
UCM has a quiet good system for hooking into the default behaviour based upon events and so. I believe your answer is their.
Perhaps you can ask this question in the ECM forum below because i think it's more an content server thing than a webcenter thing.
Also, be noticed that you should check the licence of UCM if you are planning in hooking into the events of UCM. THe default licence you get with the webcenter services for UCM is a limited one were you can only use it for webcenter. I don't know if you are allowed to use other components beside the default one installed.

  • WebCenter - Spaces UCM Integration

Recently I installed WebCenter Suite . I updated Spaces Services Configuration through FMC. Connection Test went successfull. I can browse UCM thorugh Spaces but I cannot upload any folder. Spaces server logs shows exception that the users lack permission. However content server and spaces server are part of same domain. I have configured external LDAP store. I can login with external LDAP userid to spaces as well as UCM
I have provided sysadmin as user while configuring Conent Service in FMC.
    Any help ?

    Hi ,
If you are trying to upload contents using LDAP user , then check to see if the right permissions (Roles in UCM parlance) are assigned to that user . Go to UCM - <user name > - Roles and see if the correct roles are seen or not .
If it is just guest , then that indicates user not being provisioned correctly .
    Thanks

  • Siebel Correspondence - configure to use WebCenter Content (UCM)

    Hi,
Is it possible to configure Siebel Correspondence to use Oracle WebCenter Content (aka UCM)?
I can find information on using the attachments functionality but nothing on Correspondence.
Has anybody found any information on this integration and managed to get it to work?
    Regards,
    Dave

    Hi bssr
    Thanks for your reply.
I understand that i have differents commit drivers but at the end Webcenter Capture will always communicate with UCM, since you link WC with UCM to get configuration profiles, fields etc.

    Hey there,
we have a similar issue. We are having an error where our user fails to authenticate with the UCM. We have not solved this yet and have put it on the back burner for the moment. At our Client, there a batch upload operation done by a person and then the users involved simply associate the relevant files. If you do find a solution, please let us know.

  • Anyone Experience WebCenter Suite 11g ins tall with UCM on Linux?

I have been installing and facing several issues with this. It is extremely slow on weblogic server. starting weblogic server takes around 30 minutes. The deployer keeps deploying for ever. Not sure if I am doing something wrong.
Here are the steps I followed:
    1. Installed 11g Database. Bumped the processes to 350 (else rcu would not work).
    2. used rcu to create a DEV schema or webcenter, Portal and BI.
    3. Installed Weblogic Server and ran config.sh and created a domain (with no managed servers).'
    4. Installed webtier (OHS and WebCache) since WebCenter with UCM requires a HTTP Server URL (I was not sure if I could use the WebLogic Internal HTTP). and configured it. Made sure I was able to stop and star OHS.
    5. Then installed WebCenter FrameWork with UCM. Then had to extend the above created domain and added 3 Managed Servers WLS_Services, WLS_Spaces, WLS_Portlets.
    6. Tried to get Weblogic stopped and started (and it took for ever).
    7. Tried to start each of the Managed Servers and again it seemed to take for ever.
    8. Now I have a fusion control though it seems to take quite sometime to login to it or the console (especially the first time).
    9. The fusion control still shows everything down inspite of the Managed servers being up.
    10. Then I notice that the application webcenter, owc_discussions, owc_wiki all show failed state.
    11. There are several errors in the logs and constant error that keep showing up on the console (vnc).
    org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.bean.PropertyKey saveValue
    WARNING: Unserializable value:oracle.sysman.core.view.tgtctls.common.DefaultTreeModel@2d867cb for key:UINodePropertyKey[value,17]
and logs show something like this (WLS_Spaces.log - similar errors on WLS_Services etc) and several others.
in the execution of deployment request with ID '1247722801817' for task '1'. Error is: 'weblogic.management.DeploymentException: '

    and also this:

    at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:620)
    at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(SecureClassLoader.java:124)

    1. This is a dev server and has around 4GB and 2 CPU's somewhere around 2.x GHZ (I guess). I monitored the system while I noticed slowness and did not find any issues I/O or memory and all I could notice in the logs are deployment going on. I sometimes however noticed warning on Thread stuck - not sure how to tune it or optimize threads (being new to weblogic).
    2. Yes, I have tried deploying and it fails with errors again in deployment - again I probably have to read a bit about WebLogic deployments.
    3. I am not sure how to avoid configuring atleast an empty domain in step 3. Would help if you elaborate. Here is my understanding:
    a. To install webcenter with UCM, I need a running http url (address).
    b. To get a HTTP running, I need webtier installed and configured. The configuration seem to ask for a weblogic domain. In which case I have to create a weblogic domain either by running config.sh on the WEBLOGIC_HOME or through the config.sh on WEBTIER_HOME/common/bin.
That was my understanding, I understand the best way to configure is to run config.sh from the WEBCENTER_HOME.
Looks like I might have to uninstall and try reinstalling.

    ah yes...
Entering credentials are required unless you install and configure OAM... That's the only solution.
The other issue with the session is a big one... According to initial information from Oracle, what you are doing is not fully supported and only works in webCenter spaces. However this can be resolved by adding a very simple thing in the weblogic.xml
    read this post: http://yonaweb.be/enable_site_studio_features_webcenter_portal_0
it's the part at the ending about the cookie-path.
it took me a few days to resolve that issue so the above post is very valuable...

I don't really want to start with an older version of WebCenter if I can avoid it.

    Hi
Yes, that will work as well since all that we are doing is to connect Webcenter to UCM which will act as the repository .

  • Oracle Webcenter Portal and UCM Problem

hi, I'm using both applications but it seems UCM always ask authentication before viewing the checked in files to webcenter portal.
How can I view the files checked in to UCM through webcenter without UCM authentication??????????I set the files security to public.

Looks like the configuration of UCM (SSXA) is not completed in your system. Take a look at this manual http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm to understand the relationship between region definitions and placeholders. Note that Content Presenter is just a client here (it's a matter of WebCenter Content configuration).

I have a requirement in which i need to modify/update the metadata/information fields of a Profile in Oracle Webcenter Content(UCM).
I found out that this can be achieved using RIDC api, but i have little knowledge about the same.
If someone could suggest about how to retrieve and update the fields in UCM using RIDC or some other approach would be of great help.
    It's really important.Kindly help
    Regards

    Hi Jiri
Even i have thought about the same as one of the approaches, but i was a bit apprehensive about using this one.
I have few stupid queries regarding this:
1)Will it expose the production database(connection details) to the environment?Yes. If you don't like the idea of giving connection to the database to a "third-party" program, you could go from the other side - create a UCM component (some kind of scheduled job), which will be a part of UCM, but do the same. It will be a bit more complicated, but might be considered more secure.
2)Will it have any performance impact?I don't think there will be much impact - most of time, tables will be accessed in read-only mode (pulling the data out), so except few per cent of CPU and some memory it should not consume anything. Besides, you should be able to schedule upload to "quiet hours", if there are some
3)Will it still be an integration with the UCM?Well, yes. It will be integration at the database level. But honestly, as long as it works, do you care how is it called?
