WebCenter Content | Batch Loader

Hi All,
We have to checkin 1 million (approx) scanned document in WebCenter Content 11g.
We are planning to use WebCenter Content Batch Loader feature for this.
Is there any limitation with Batch Loader in terms of volume, performance.
Also is there any guideline available for Batch loader best practises.
Thanks in advance !
~ Piyush

Assuming you are saving the files to a file system rather than in the database be sure to understand how metadata spreads content out in the file system. Performance of the hardware can degrade significantly if you have too many files in a folder.
When using Batchloader on scanned images i commonly set dAccount = year/month/day of the document creation or scan or anything that helped spread out the content.
Also I found working with batches of 10,000 at a time to be a good number and would run multiple batches at the same time.
Turn the indexer off before you start and on again when you finish then do a reindex with a fairly large batch size, 2500 seemed a good number for me, though with scanned images this wont matter as much.
Batchloader worked great.

  • Into which folder the files will be loaded in WebCenter Content by Batch loader utility

    Hi,
    For performing file operations like insert, update, delete etc in bulk, we use the batch loader utility in WebCenter Content.
    However, what is the parameter to specify into which folder in repository the documents get uploaded or deleted etc.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi ,
    If using Contribution folders then the parameter xCollectionID .
    If using Framework Folders then it would be fFolderGUID.

  • Best practice guide for Batch Load utility in Oracle UCM.

    Hi,
    Is there any best practice guide for Oracle UCM Batch Loader utility.
    We are looking for information regarding batch size in terms of number and size of contents. Also is there any loading time standards considering the contents are uploaded in filesystem where filestore provider is configured?
    Thanks,
    Krishnendu

    Hi ,
    There are no specific set of steps / practices for batch loading contents to ucm . It would be very much dependent on how many contents does the user have to load to UCM and how well the server is configured in terms of performance .
    You can get more details from the following documentation link : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21043_01/doc.1111/e10792/c02_settings009.htm

  • IStore Images Batch Load Issue

    Hello All,
    We have been working on setting up a Batch load for product images for our iStore and have run into an issue. First off, this is more of a batch association since we are using already existing items.
    The issue we are having is that we are using APPS.IBE_LOGICALCONTENT_GRP.SAVE_DELETE_LGL_CTNT API to tie the images to the items. The process runs without error, but on inspection of the iStore page, the link to the image is bad causing no image to be displayed. Going through the iStore Admin and checking the Catalog / Content everything looks fine.
    If I remove the association to the content for the item, apply the change, then re-associate the content and apply, everything works fine. So, it would appear that the content is not the issue. We will be loading 1000+ image associations, so having to manually fix each one is not a very good option.
    After creating the Item - Content association, is there another API or something else that needs to be run so that the image correctly shows up on the iStore?
    Thanks
    Kyle

    1. Did you try using save_logical_content API.
    2. Did you verify the table IBE_DSP_OBJ_LGL_CTNT, IBE_DSP_LGL_PHYS_MAP. If data exists, Please send me an email to [email protected]
    Thanks

    thx Jiri for your response but issue has been resolved. Actually earlier everything was working fine but all of sudden that day it stopped working. If you see the exceptions where it was referring "libJniNativeOsUtils.so" was 64 bit and when i replaced that with 32 bit, it started working.
    It really surprises me why and how it got changed but and how everything was working earlier :)
    thx anyways.

  • WebCenter Content - Redaction

    Hi everyone,
    We have a requirement to redact all credit card/bank details from all documents that reside in our WebCenter Content repository.
    We have a few million scanned documents that are are stored as tiffs and these documents are in many different formats - including handwritten letters from customers who have included their credit card details....
    We also need to redact new scanned documents going forward. Unfortunately we cannot redact at the point of scanning as there is a requirement to see the bank details for the first 5-10 days once scanned.
    Therefore, ideally, our solution would be a batch redaction process that essentially redacts documents that have not already been redacted. We do not want to keep any trace of the original document (including metadata) which contains the bank details.
    I hope that makes sense. What I would like to know is:
    1. Has anyone done this before? If so what software/approach was used
    2. I have looked at AutoVue but it doesn't appear (I may be wrong) to fulfil the above requirements
    3. Is there a product that can identify bank details on unstructured documents?
    Many thanks for you help!

    Is this question identical to "Autovue Redaction for UCM Feasibility" that you posted a day before?
    And If not, what is the difference between the two?
    Thanks
    George

  • 10gR3 -- Validate Standard and batch loader

    Team,
    We have created a component using ValidateStandard filter to create content id according to our bussiness logic. When we import content using batch loader looks like validateStandard is not working. Is it not possible to use validateStandard while using Batchloader? Let me know your views.
    regards,
    deepak

    You could always use idccommand to load batches (then you can choose your own service, like a normal checkin service that doesn't skip over a few steps so it picks up on your filter).
    It is described pretty well in this blog: http://blogs.oracle.com/kyle/2010/10/ucm_batch_load_content_workflow.html
    Good luck

  • Batch Load Skip Files

    I have a strange case of file being skipped when I am doing a batch load. We are loading historical data from Dec-2010 to Aug-2012. Data is split into one file per periode(month). What happens when I run the batch load script is that all files load perfectly, expect files containing data from May (2011 & 2012) and October (2011).
    I have tried to run a batch with only the files from May and October and then batch process skips completly.
    Is there any setting that might have been set that can cause this behavior or anything else that I should examine. Any help or clue will be much appreciated.

    File name convention is kept and the content of the file are good, if I change May-2011 to Apr-2011 and thereby load May's data into April it works just fine. Have also tried renaming Apr-2011 file to May-2011 and then it is skipped as well. Manual import of the files that are skipped works wihtout problem.
    When running just the files that are being skipped, I had the script write the count of files in the batch collection and that part of the process picks up the correct number of files, in this case 3, but then they are skipped in the batch execute step.
    Can this have something to do with Metadata setting in HFM? Problem started after Metadata was changed in HFM and thus we had to load all historical data again. Before that it loaded fine to May and October. At least I don't remember having this problem before.

  • Batch Loader - CSV to HDA/XML utlities?

    Can anyone recommend a way to move CSV files that contain document information/custom metadata to be imported into the UCM Batch Loader HDA format? I've seen a few post out on the web that use RegEx replacement as a possible scenario.
    Mostly this one:
    http://stellentexperts.blogspot.com/2009/08/content-migration-how-did-we-get.html
    I was wondering if anybody had other ideas/scripts/utilities to accomplish this task as it seems like it would be something encountered more often than not when doing migrations from another system to UCM.

  • How to show a splashscreen in a FLASH AIR game while content is loading

    Hi,
    I've seen some games take some time to load (something completely reasonalbe and normal). So I guess it would be really interesting to have a way to show a splash screen while the content is loading.
    Any common aproach to face this problem?
    Thks.

    The solution is generally to break up the operation that is taking a long time into smaller chunks. If for example, you have a long loop executing, then AIR never gets a chance to update the screen (or respond to the OS messages).
    The first step is to identify what part of the process is taking such a long time.
    See http://senocular.com/flash/tutorials/asyncoperations/ for a good explanation.
    And to put up a progress bar, you have to do this anyway, otherwise the progress bar will never get updated, either.

  • Databind method call returns null in WebCenter Content Filter

    Hi,
    I have inherited some code that has an issue and I'm new to WebCenter Content and the Filters that can be added. We have a FileNameFilter class that starts off with the code
    public class CWEFileNameFilter implements FilterImplementor {
        public CWEFileNameFilter() {
            super();
        public int doFilter(Workspace workspace, DataBinder dataBinder,
                            ExecutionContext executionContext) throws DataException {
            String service = dataBinder.getLocal("IdcService");
    However, service sometimes comes back null and then the filter throws a NPE.
    My questions are:
    1) Can anyone explain what dataBinder.getLocal("IdcService"); is doing and why it could come back as null
    2) Can anyone provide any links to documentation that explains Filters and a bit more about the DataBinder object as the JavaDoc isn't much help.
    Thanks
    Marc

    Hi Marc,
    Below code will give service name for which filter is implemented  from LocalData
    String service = dataBinder.getLocal("IdcService");
    for example below
    http://localhost:16200/cs/idcplg?IdcService=DOC_INFO_BY_NAME&dDocName=1111111&IsJava
    This will print entire response data including localdata and results which are created as part of service execution. Below is snippet
    <?hda version="11.1.1.8.0PSU-2015-04-01 00:14:53Z-r126309" jcharset="UTF8" encoding="utf-8"?>
    @Properties LocalData
    DocUrl=https://localhost:16200/cs/weblayout/groups/secure/documents/test/mhdk/mjg1/1111111.pdf
    IdcService=DOC_INFO_BY_NAME
    so String service = dataBinder.getLocal("IdcService"); will be service ="DOC_INFO_BY_NAME".
    Below blog will give some idea about filter but best place to learn or start is "The Definitive Guide to Stellent Content Server Development" by Brian Huff
    http://www.redstonecontentsolutions.com/technical-blog/ucm-service-handlers-and-javafilters
    Also i would recommend reading "WebCenter Content Services Reference Guide"

  • Issue  in Configuring Oracle WebCenter Content: Records

    HI,
    I have an issue in Configuring Oracle WebCenter Content: Records
    In "Records Management Setup Checklist"
         Checked-in Audit Entries Default Metadata
         Checked-in Screening Reports Default Metadata
         Checked-in Reservation Default Metadata
    Am not able to select the category/folder in the default check-in form for the above, and i don't see anything in the drop down also
    When i click on the Browse button of above 3..
    see Retention Schedule & favorite Schedule
    But am not able to select any of those.
    AnyOne faced this issue, pls help..
    Thanks!!!!

    The Oracle webcenter content: Records system will enable the retention schedule but it won't create any default retention category. If you want apply retention to a content then first you have to create the retention category and the disposition rule. Once you create the retention category then it will be listed under Retention Schedule. In your case complete the default configuration without applying retention, once you create retention you can apply that to those contents.
    Browse Content --> Retention Schedules --> Create Retention Category
    HTH..
    Regards,
    Manoj
