Webcenter Spaces Search Customization

Hi All,
1) In Spaces PS3, the user can setup preferences where he/she can specify which services to include in the search. Is there an Administrator setting to control this site-wide (possibly without allowing users to override restrictions)?
2) Can the search be setup such that the results (People results, tag results, etc.) are restricted to the Space where the search is executed? For e.g. if I have Space A and Space B and the user performs a search for a string "adam" on Space A then the search results should only list those users with adam in their name and are members of Space A.
3) Does someone know where I can find the complete API documentation for WebCenter Framework? The doc - "Oracle Fusion Middleware Java API Reference for Oracle WebCenter 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)" - doesn't contain doco for the Search API classes like SearchServiceAPIFactory, SearchServiceAPI, SearchOptions, etc.

In addition to above, I tried adding the Webcenter Search-view taskflow into a simple Webcenter Portal application.
The search returns no results. I had expected the search to be able to find the pages on the portal or the registered users at the least.
I followed the instructions here - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_search.htm#CBHEHJHI - to setup the Webcenter Search adapters. That didn't help either

WebCenter Space Layout and Customization problems

Hi all,
I am new in Webcenter Space and I wonder is there anyway to do the following tasks:
1) Change the alignment of the left most side bar label (default is align right)
2) Remove the picture for user profile
Also I found that the left side bar item cannot get refreshed/updated after changing settings in personalization page (such as show and hide pages)
I have searched in OTN and there is no similar solution, any pointer is highly appreciated. Thanks

You can publish your customized portlet in the catalog. For this, you have to create a Mashup from the WC Administration > Mashup, add portlet on this mashup from catalog, customize it and then add this mashup in catalog from WC Administration --> Catalog. You will find all these mashups in Taskflows section of Catalog.
Using this approach, you cannot personalize your portlet.

I want exact name of API in webcenter spaces which provudes name of all people who are registered in spaces.
when we want to invite people we clicks tab for search in spaces and it gives list of all the names.
we also have taskflow/API for profile search in webcneter but as developer i want to know what are those api and where do I find them.
what all function can be performend for search of people in spaces

I have been playing around with user information lately as well and user information is not completely stored within a Spaces but through Oracle Identity Store. It will depend on you specific environment configuration but youcould query against your LDAP.

Customization WebCenter Space Portlet

Hi ;
I am using webcenter portlet in my WebCenter Space project. But, that's don't enough for project. I need to customizing this portlet. (And maybe publish as a my task flow component in my catalog) For example, document list viewer component. How can i do this?

You can publish your customized portlet in the catalog. Webcenter Spaces internal error page and session timeout page customization

Hi
On what basis is an internal error page shown in webcenter spaces? What triggers it?
Is it possible to customize the internal error page that shows up on webcenter spaces?
Or atleast redirect to a custom error page on any exception occured?
Is there any other way to handle it?
Also, how to customize the session timeout page? Is it possible?
There seems to be a servlet being called for session timeout display i dont see any page being redirected to.
Environment details: Webcenter Spaces 11.1.1.6
Help needed on this asap please.

Hi,
I was experiencing the same problem with customizing the session timeout page. I found out that you can set a custom webcenter attribute in the webcenter-config.xml called "wcSessionTimeoutURL" which overrides the default servlet response and redirects the the specified path.
In my example, I created a business role page, set it to be publically accessible, then used the Red Samurai MDS Cleaner taskflow to modify the custom attributes in webcenter-config.xml in the following way:

How to customize the Webcenter Spaces

Can someone please tell me if Oracle WebCenter 11g Spaces Demo at

is customized out-of-the-box Webcenter Spaces or is it a custom Webcenter application. How exactly the Avitek RFP group space is designed in the same demo is it a custom application. How can I customize the out-of-the-box Webcenter Spaces to have the same look & Feel and functionality as it's shown in the demo.

Hi I tried the following for testing the different templates by appending the wc.chromeLevel manually in the URL. Any idea how do I make any one as a defualt setting. Or lets say if I have multiple gropu spaces and want to use different wc.chromeLevel for each group space etc where can I configure that as currently I manually go and change the URL. Or is it possible to have these settings based on the user roles etc. e.g. if Admin logs-in he sees everything but if some other user logs-in he sees something different. I am not able to find any documentation arround these any help is appreciated. Here is what I tried but I end-up manually changing the URL. As doing so it does shows the different

What I usually do is check the element in the browser's developer tools - for e.g. Chrome's "Inspect Element". This way I can identify the id of the element in the ADF Faces source file (.jsff).
In the folderViewer case the element id was "cilhelp" and the tag in the .jsff is below

How can I incorporate new backing beans into a Webcenter Spaces Server?

I am using the WebCenterSpaces application in Customization Developer Role to make changes to some taskflows for a customer. In order to implement a desired change in the Nav Model for the customer, I had to write 3 very small backing beans. They compiled fine, the taskflow let me add them as managed beans. It even new about these backing beans, presumably because I compiled them. I made changes to the .jsff file to use them and that worked fine. However the metadata.mar created when I deploy the application does not have these new classes, so they will not get put into the WC_Spaces server when I use WLST to import the metadata. Can anybody tell me how to get new backing beans into WebCenter Spaces?
I cant be the only one who has had to do this.

I don't know if you can import as part of the metadata import but an alternative will be to create a shared library out of your java classes and referencing the shared lib in spaces.

Error Messages in a WebCenter Spaces Components

Dears,
we deployed a custom component for check the quota for the folder before add any new item (we deployed it on UCM 11g),
the component is working properly from UCM side, so when override the quota for the folder the error message "you can't add the file because...." appeared.
but when we test the same process from WebCenter Spaces side by using the document manager component for the same folder to add new files the error message "Untitled error" appeared when override the quota, so how i can fetch the same message from UCM to view it in WebCenter Spaces when we override the quota.
please help me if anyone know how we can solve this problem, or if anyone know how we can customize the error messages that appear from component.

The error is raised via an exception:
throw new ServiceException(msg);
(where msg contains the text of the exception, something like: Folder UCM 11g Manuals Quota Violation Used:72.0MB Max:72.0MB File: 15.0KB)
In UCM the check is bound to a check-in filter, which prevents check-in should the quota be exceeded.
My guess is that either Document Management task flow, or WebCenter Framework has its own exception-handling mechanism, which replaces the text from the UCM component.

Webcenter Spaces-Annoucements pop up window background color change

I am using oracle webcenter 11g PS3.
I am using ANNOUNCEMENT task flow in my webcenter spaces application, there i can make some UI based changes but i need to change the background color of POP UP window when i click on any announcement subject to view complete announcement and any way to customize some properties in announcements. please help. I am changing the lightblue background (#F5F7F9) of the portal by downloading the theme
and the unzip the portal.zip and then the default.properties:
parPrtlBodyBackground=\#F5F7F9
parDocumentBackgroundColor=\#F5F7F9
Change the values to the required background color.

You will need to write code of your own. A good starting point is here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/apirefs.1111/e15995/toc.htm (search for the class SpacesManager, method getUserSpacesNamesList)
Note that most likely you will not want to display all spaces, unless you are absolutely sure that the list will not exceed some reasonable amount in all cases - otherwise, it might be quite user-unfriendly.

Webcenter Spaces integration with Lotus Calendar, Sametime, Quickr

I'm working on a project which involves building an intranet Portal and the customer has Lotus 8.5 which wants to integrate in the Webcenter Spaces 11g "portal". More precisely they want to have in their portal the lotus calendar portlet, lotus mail portlet,lotus notes portlet, lotus sametime portlet ..etc. I found an old documentation and sample of this kind of portlets developed by Oracle but they don't work because of some errors when they try to retrieve the Lotus configuration. I tried to find the authors of this documentation, or perhaps who developed the portlets and ask them if they can adapt the portlets for an integration between Webcenter Suite and Lotus Notes 8.5. First of all let me thank you Brad, for taking the time to answer, it's very nice of you. After I read you post I spent a couple of hours searching for the installer of the recommended "WebLogic Portlets for Groupware Integration". After searching everywhere I could possible search : OTN, E-Delivery, Metalink, ias.us.oracle.com I could not find the installer of this portlets. In the Installation Guide it says : " 2. Download the software from the Oracle Software Downloads site. " - there is nothing related to Portlets for Groupware on OTN.
Now, I'm ashame but I have to give up, I guess perhaps this portlets for groupware integration are bundeled into some kit with a different name, I don't know, believe me I tried to find them, I searched the documentation but with no luck.
I would be very thankful if you can point me to the installer of this portlets. Thank you very much again !

Certain Lists Display and All Lists Display in Webcenter Space

Hi All Experts,
I am trying to find a way to display certain lists from Lists Service as well as all lists from Lists Service. The reason being is we are going to have a lot of projects to be tracked by using Lists Service in Webcenter space, then we want to display different set of lists (projects items) in separate tables for different initiatives and then ultimately one table to display all lists (all projects items) for all initiatives.
If there is a tag function for each list, then we can group all the related lists by using tags. However, I don't think we are able to tag a list so this is not possible. Now, I am not sure how can I display group lists accordingly. Also, I am not sure how can I display all lists in one table easily (ie. List Name, Assigned to Person, Open/Closed).
I tried to think of a scalable way to handle a lot of projects by using Lists Service. However, if you have any other solution, please feel free to recommend me.

Hi,
Lists are not designed to be used with API(s), because it's a WebCenter Spaces only feature, but you can ofcourse put them under each other by surrounding them all with a movable box, but if you want something more customizable, and more business oriented, I'd suggest building your own custom lists using taskflows

Uploading large documents on webcenter spaces

Hi everybody,
I want to upload large documents into webcenter spaces but documents taskflow doesn't accept documents which size are more than 2MB.
(No constraint found in uploading documents directly to UCM)
How can I proceed ???
