WebDav Issues (calDav, cardDav)

Good news first: I was able to connect with my webDav provider. I made one account for each service and the phone automatically grouped them together.
But they dont work as they should...
The cardDav account only fetches 25 contacts of 100+. When I create a new contact on either side it also wont show up on the other side.
calDav worked first. But it stopped fetching new entries from the server. However creating a new entry on the phone gets transmitted to the server and vice versa.
Various desktop clients work flawless with those accounts.
Anyone had similar issues or maybe an idea to solve this?
Btw: Will the field for Outlook categories ever get implemented? I am tired of getting it strippend from my data. It would also be nice to use it for automatic Groups. Even my old phone did this although it rather sucked at synchronizing.

Did set up a fresh calendar on the server and updated the contacts too.
For a short time I had all my calendar entries showing up on the phone. I could open and view them
But now most vanished again -.-
It looks like everything that has an Outlook Category assigned got filtered by the system. Which is everything except for birthdays in my Calendar. This does not what I expected from business phone...
Contacts on the Phone now made it to 46. Umlauts (ä,ö,ü) got converted in question marks in a square... (Edit: Error with umlauts was made by a different client)
After more than one year after the BB10 release, stuff like this should have been ironed out.

  • How to setup a local CalDav/CardDav server to synch calendars and contacts

    Since it is now not possible anymore to sync contacts and calendars without the cloud I would like to setup and CalDav/CardDav server in my local home (WiFi) network so that whenever my iOS devices are connected to that network calendars and contacts get synched. Is there any good resource (a step by step tutorial preferably) to learn how to do it? Will I be needing a dedicated machine for the server (I just have one iMac and many iOS devices)? Will all my devices automatically be able to sync once they are connected to the local WiFi?

    But then I would need to buy another Mac. That seems a little overklill just for a CalDav/CardDav server. Can't I just run a little service on my iMac? As stated above I have only one Mac and I probably wouldn't want to use OSX Server as my day-to-day desktop OS. Or would I?

  • CalDav CardDav contacts sync (Google or CardScan)?

    i am running iOS7/iPhone and Mavericks/MBP and Lion/Mac Pro in a small business.
    i would like to get a set of contacts in Google synced to my various devices WITH the groups/categories. right now if i do this by checking the "Contacts" box in my GMail acount in Mavericks on my laptop i get all my contacts without the categories/groups which is useless.
    does anyone know if there is a way to do this with CalDav CardDav sync? i am thinking that perhaps i can do this by uploading my contacts to Google Contacts or by somehow posting my contacts database as an export from CardScan.
    i ran across these articles which look mighty interesting.

  • Multiple CalDAV / CardDAV calendars/addressbooks sharing one account

    Hi,
    I'm trying to setup my calendars and address books on my Q10. I have multiple calendars like this
    <university server>/caldav.php/group1/calendar1
    <university server>/caldav.php/group1/calendar2
    <university server>/caldav.php/group1/addressbook1
    <university server>/caldav.php/group2/calendar1
    <university server>/caldav.php/group2/addressbook1
    etc. but they're all accessed with the same username/password. Now, when I try to set them up in my Q10, the first one I pick works, but when I try to set up a second, the phone complains that the account exists already (I assume because they share the same Mail address - none - and the OS does not notice the different servers).
    What to do?

    I tried that, plus I did some further testing and have gotten it to work now:
    CalDAV and CardDAV for the same server works out-of-the-box, probably because they are of a different type. So that takes care of the Contacts.
    If I then make different accounts just for the groups, not the individual calendars (<servername>/group instead of <servername>/group/calendar), the multiple calendars in one group are auto-detected.
    So now I have 1 CardDAV and one CalDAV account per <servername>/groupN, with the Q10 taking care of <servername>/groupN/calandar1...n on its own. Great! Thanks for your help anyway.
    One last thing: For CardDAV, the mail address is a required field. Why? I don't need it for logging in ...

  • Webdav issue Error 500...

    I've recently installed Server on OS X 10.8, but I can't get webdav working.
    After enabling webdav on some shared folder, it did work perfectly. But after I tried to secure the access only to selected users, I now get a Server error 500 and nothing appears anymore on the clients (Goodreader, Numbers on iPad, safari...).
    Of course I tried to put the proper rights back, but no luck.
    Anyone knows how to solve this issue? Or at least how to get to the proper log file (web server error logs don't show anything)...

    Launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and have a look at /var/log/apache2/ directory.  If you're still using the default names, then access_log and error_log are the files. 
    cd /var/log/apache2/
    then some of the typical commands used here are:
    ls
    cat access_log
    cat error_log
    tail -n1000 access_log
    tail -n1000 error_log
    Also use the command sudo apachectl configtest to verify that the Apache configuration file syntax is OK, though it's somewhat unlikely that's wrong.

  • Periodic errors authenticating caldav/carddav

    I'm having users from iCal and via their iPhones get periodic errors while trying to connect to our MacOS X Lion server. The caldav logs show an odd error:

    So it seems that ocacssionally, the connection to OpenDirectory simply fails. Has anyone else run into this problem? We have about 50 devices hitting this server and when it happens, iCal prompts the user saying their password is invalid and asks them to enter their password again which is subpar to say the least.

    We work-around it using what Jonathan Miller posted. Specifically:

  • WebDAV Issue [11g]

    Ok so I know I asked this before, and the solution was informative.  Yet upon learning the software our users will  be using tight integration with Microsoft Office products is not needed.  Just a simple network connection to webdev through a windows file browser is enough for what we need.  Thing is we got that working but insted of showing framework folder it is showing contribution folder and I was wondering if it is possible to change where it is pointing at so it would show framework folder?

    How are you trying to connect? with what webdav client? after winxp, it got really tricky to get windows' native explorer to function with webdav. I've always recommended people use the DIS explorer integration. if that wouldn't work, then I'd setup bitkinix for them as a service, which would override the windows native webdav integration into windows explorer. in short, I don't expect webdav to work in windows ootb w/o some third-party client.
    Also, what version of WCC are you on? if it's 11.1.1.2 or 11.1.1.3, it may be before webdav was built into frameworkfolders. I don't think FF is currently supported with portal/spaces setups, but FF should be supported for EDMS-type (i.e., plain doc mgmt) configurations. I'd have to check the docs or verify with product mgmt on that. it's hard to keep track of these details version per version.

  • WebDAV issues

    Im running Arch Linux on my pogo plug and used the instructions on this Wiki. I can connect, delete the stuff in the folder but when i try to copy something to it i get the error on WIN 7 "Cant read from source file or disk" Any ideas? Another question is what would i need to do to move the DAV folder from the /srv/http/dav to /media/External as thats where all my files are stored. The OS is stored on a 2GB usb stick and isnt suitable for storing other files.

  • Providing iCloud accounts using CalDav/CardDav

    I administer my iOS-Devices (iOS7.04 without Jailbreak) with the profile manager on an OSX Server and it works fine, but I have still one problem with the configuration
    Every iOS-Device has a main iCloud account and all iCloud programmes are activated. In addition I want to add the address book, the calendar and the tasks manager from a different iCoud account. This should happen automatically using the profile manager of the OSX Server. Therefor I generated an entry in the profile manager for the calendar with: https://calendar.icloud.com on port in 8443 and the address book using https://contacts.icloud.com also on port in 8443.
    The result is that I see the entries in the settings on the iOS-device and everything seems to be OK. But in the calendar app there is no entry for the calendar of the second iCud account. (Same in the address book and in the task app)
    What did I do wrong? or how can I provide an iCloud-account unsing the profile manager only activating address book, calendar and task manager

    Hi,
    iChat
    Lets presume that some of the "Names" you have in Mail, Contacts an Calendars refer to active AIM valid Screen Names or Jabber IDs.
    You can then select the iChat Box and that "name" will then be active in iChat.
    You can also set up names in iChat (iChat Menu > Preference > Accounts and use the + button lower left)
    These will then get added to the Mail, Contacts an Calendars panel.
    iChat will "Consult" with your Address Book (Contacts)  and display "Real Names" in the Buddy Lists rather that the Screen Name or ID the person is using.
    As Mail can also link email to those "real names" it can then also tell if that person is also On Line in iChat.
    This obviously means the person's Address card contains their email Addresses, AIM or Jabber valid Names and IDs to provide this Interlinking.

    I have numerous Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Dreamweaver 8 users
    connecting to an Apache web server using WebDAV protocol for
    content management.
    Dreamweaver MX 2004 users have absolutely no issues
    connecting and updating content using WebDaV.
    Dreamweaver 8 users face multiple issues
    -> It takes a very long time to connect to the WebDav
    server
    -> It takes a very long time to connect get/put or
    checkin/checkout
    -> Frequent timeout and permission errors
    -> Errors while trying to rename files/folders
    -> syncronize option is disabled
    I noticed that DW 8 reports this client signature
    "Contribute/3.0" while MX 2004 uses "Dreamweaver-WebDAV-SCM1.02". I
    added both these to BrowserMatch redirect-carefully settings in
    Apache.
    I saw numerous posts about WebDAV issues but I do not believe
    any of these cover this situation. Your help is appreciated

    Try disabling non microsoft startup services viz antivirus etc ( Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-servic es-windows.html ) and then try installing.
    You might also want to enable the hidden admin account ( Ref : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-adminis trator-account-on-windows-vista/ ) and then try install in this account and check.
    You can also troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5 -cs5.html.

    Have someone succeed to do that playbook works with OwnCloud ?
    OwnCloud permits to access to your addressbook or calendar from carddav and caldav.
    I have added with success my addressbook ; but no still succeed with caldav...
    For carddav, playbook doesn't load the contacts from the carddav server...
    If I create a contact from the playbook, the contact is sync with carddav server. But sometimes it doesn't work ?
    How can I force the sync from the addressbook native app playbook ?

  • Address book in Lion tries to send updates to wrong URL in carddav server

    As the title says. We have lion with address book. Out of the box.
    We have a caldav carddav server that has been used with older macs no problem, and iphones work perfectly also with the server.
    This is the problem.
    The account is set up on the address book app, and the initial connection works perfectly.
    After adding username, password and server address, the address book application finds the correct contacts at the following URL:
    /principles/users/[email protected]
    You can see this url if you go to the preferences/accounts. You cant edit the URL, which is strange, as you can in iCal (ical works perfectly BTW)
    Initial read from the server is fine.
    If we change a contact on the server, then click on the address book application, you see the spinner for a second, and the new changes can be seen.
    If you make a change on the address book, the changes are NOT reflected on the carddav server.
    Both Macbook and server on on same LAN
    Server ip address is 10.200.200.51
    The port is 8008
    The principle URL is /principals/users/[email protected] (which is shown in the address book app as correct)
    However, when the address book is changed, and it tries to update the server we see the following on the macbook logs as it is trying to update the server:
    You will notice it looks like the address book is trying to connect to a folder that does not exist on the server.

    What is interesting is that ical works perfectly (in both directions)
    Im not sure if the '%40' in the address book app for the '@' symbol is an issue??
    The server path url in address book is not editable as it does not sit in a editable field, unlike it is in ical.
    Either way, both the ical and address book find the principle URL correctly, but the address book app then uses a different url when it tries to connect to upload changes made on the address book app.
    Any help would be really appreciated!! :-) Maybe there is a way to change the URL in a settings file somewhere???

    I have a similar issue. My initial iCloud sync works fine and then when I try to merge a contact I get an error. My iCloud doesn't sync after the initial sync it seems.

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac / Synching issues

    Hi there,
    it seems that I'm not alone with 'issues' in synching Outlook for Mac 2011 with mobile devices..
    The setup I am trying to arm wrestle into submission is
    MacBook Air (brand new) Mavericks 10.9.3
    iPhone 5 iOS 7.1.1.
    Outlook 2013 (brand new)
    I've been able to succesfully import all of my email (from a previous version in windows) as well as get the contacts and the calendars imported onto Outlook for Mac, but am at my wits end to get them all talking to each other.
    Outlook won't sync to the iPhone for mail, contacts and or calendar, nor visa versa.
    I've read literally thousands of posts all suggesting this fix and that fix to no avail. I'm now reading that perhaps mavericks is not compatible with outlook synching services or outlook synching services isn't compatible with mavericks. I'm not trying to lay blame to either side as I'm simply looking for a solution.
    Any ideas?

    oh - Apple Migration Tool.... is appalling in my opinion, it did sweet bugger all.

    Minor correction. It's Outlook 2011, Outlook 2013 is the Windows version.
    Sync Basics
    CalDAV & CardDAV are protocols used by Apple, Google, Yahoo and others to sync contacts and calendars. Neither Entourage 2008 nor Outlook 2011 support CalDAV or CardDAV.
    You can no longer sync with any third-party apps running on your Mac that use Sync Services, like Entourage or Outlook.
    If you want to stick with Outlook, I suggest you look at Office 365 Exchange. Otherwise, moving to Apple Mail, Contacts and Calendar with iCloud might be a better option for you.
    Until Microsoft adds CalDAV and CardDAV support to Outlook, there is no way to sync other than get an Exchange account. It's $4/month Exchange Online.

  • Unable to add caldav/car​ddav server

    Hi,
    We purchased a z10 recently because we read it supported caldav/carddav.
    But we are unable to get it working,
    The server is functioing fine and our macs, windows, ios and androids all work fine with the current setup but our new Z10 is giving errors.
    When we connect via http we always get the error that our login details have been changed or are incorrect.
    When we c onnect via https we always get the error the server is online (default message).
    We tried adding the port to the url, we tried adding the direct path to the calendars (url/calendars/username/) but nothing seems to work. We already contacted the store where we purchased it and they suggested to take it back and offered us a new androids devices but we like the device and really want to be able to get it working. But caldav/carddav is a dealbreaker for us.
    Anyone any suggestions?
    Our caldav/carddav is using sabredav.

    First, what OS level are you on?

    It is entirely possible that if you are running an older OS level, that there are bugs in that version that have been fixed in the latest version.

  • Can no longer mount iDisk with WebDAV

    Since last night I can no longer sync my iDisk, or mount any iDisk form other users. I've read the support answer that if you get "Last sync failed" with the iDisk sync, you should run "fix permissions" and reboot.

    However, this has not helped me. I've tried this several times. This problem is specific to my intel MacBook.
    - iDisk mounting and syncing works just fine with my .Mac account on another computer.
    - I tried mounting an iDisk on another user account on this MacBook, but this didn't work either. I suspect this is a system wide thing.
    - I checked the permissions of "webdav_fs.kext" on my MacBook and my text top system, and they are identical. The desktop works still, my MacBook doesn't.
    - I also checked that this kernel extension is loaded, and the system says yes.
    - if I try to mount someone elses public iDisk folder, I get the following error message in the console:

    Ok, I tries using the command line mount_webdav command. It didn't seem to work. I got no error messages, but no volumes were mounted.
    I tried connecting to another (non-iDisk) web folder at bingodisk.com. This worked fine on my desktop, it doesn't work on the MacBook. This seems to confirm that this is a basic Finder webdav issue, not iDisk specific.
    I looked through the system preferences to try to find any appropriate *.plist files to remove/reset. I tried removing
    /Library/Prefernences/Network/com.apple.DotMacNotifications.plist
    /Library/Prefernences/com.apple.networkConfig.plist
    but this didn't do anything. Any ideas on what setting file might influence the Finder's webdav functionality?
    If I try to do a iDisk sync in the Finder, the console give me the same message as when I tried to directly mount another person's public iDisk
