WebDynpro Application is Using POWL Table

Hello Expert,
I have a query. We have a Standard Webdynpro application "HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI" which is using a POWL component . The output table in screen comes.
We have a requirement we need to add some extra columns to the table and also need to hide some existing columns.
As far as I know we can achieve this by changing the POWL query. But i am not able to find which query is being used for this application.
Please help me!

I understand that " If I need to add extra columns to my table in this "HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI_MSS" application I have to add those in the structure HAP_T_WD_DOCUMENTS and to populate those columns we need to add code in IF_POWL_FEEDERGET_OBJECT_DEFINITION and IF_POWL_FEEDERGET_OBJECT methods. And If I have a column with radio button then I have to define the action in IF_POWL_FEEDER~GET_ACTIONS method.
Please let me know if I am wrong anywhere in my understanding.
Also I think we can the existing columns from the POWL table without any coding via admin personalization.
And I am not able to see the link for change query when I am executing the application in admin mode.
Please suggest.

Problem in Running a Webdynpro Application Which uses itext.jar

Hi,
I have created a Webdynpro DC which uses a DC called xxx_lib which contains the external JAR Files. (itext.jar etc)
This JAR file is in my library path as well.
I have added the lib_dc as used DC under the webdynpro DC.
The Compilation and build went fine without any error. But when in run the Application Under ---> Content Administration --> Webdynpro , I am getting the following Error.
The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/lowagie/text/Element
Failed to create delegate .....
(Hint: Is the corresponding DC deployed correctly? Does the DC contain the component?)
Please let me know if somebody knows the solution.

I have to call a webdynpro application in an external window using the application name. Please note that no iViews are created out of the application which i am going to call.
I have DC1 and DC2 and from the Comp Controlller of DC1 , i need to invoke the application in DC2.

Problem acessing webdynpro applications deployed using SDM

Dear All,
We have two seperate boxes for ECC 5.0 and (WEBAS + EP).
I am trying to run ESS and MSS on portal.
I downloaded BP for ESS/MSS 100(for souce cose) and ESS/MSS 60.1(iview and other content) both.
I deployed them both through SDM.
I maintained all required JCo connection with ECC system as my target system.
I maintained SAP_WEBDYNPRO_XSS system as my WAS system.
I can see ESS/MSS roles and pages etc in portal.
Also in webdynpro content administration i can see all deployed service i.e. ess/ar/pdata etc.
When i select any of the service, and drip down to application node, i get error
"Failed to find classpath for sap.com/ess~ben"
or whatever service i select.
when i run the application i get attached error.
if you have any clue.. what is missing?

in ESS deployment there was some error for ess/tra
and other component ess/tra/*
no idea that will cause this issues. check the log in SDM.

Creation of tables using JDBC or SQLJ in webdynpro application

Hi,
I am trying to create tables in javadictionary(MaxDB)using my WebDynpro application.I tried creating tables using SQLJ and JDBC.But I was not able to do it.I can select and insert data into already created tables.
Whwn I tried creating a table using JDBC I encountered the following exception.
com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: The SQL statement "CREATE TABLE TMP_DEPID (DEPID varchar(10) NOT NULL,DEPNAME VARCHAR(25))" contains the syntax error[s]: Open SQL syntax error: CREATE ... TABLE is not supported
SQL syntax error: "VARCHAR" is a reserved keyword and cannot be used as an unquoted identifier
Does this mean that creating tables is not supported?
Can anyone help me in this matter?

Hi Pradeep,
Yes, OpenSQL does not support creation of tables. But why would you need to create tables at runtime?! The natural way is to create the model at design time of your application, i.e. with the Java DataDictionary.
However, if for any reason you really need to create database tables at runtime, you can achieve this by using a non-OpenSQL datasource, e.g. you could create a VendorSQL one and use it to obtain JDBC connections in your app. See also http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c0/3ad4d5cdc66447a188b582aad537d3/frameset.htm.

Webdynpro applications

Hi ,
I am beginner as developer . I need to know if the webdynpro applications can use the portal database (wiich is oraqcle) or the database at the backend has to be neccessarily an R3 server .If they can use the portal database then let's say that I have to create a table in the portal database how do I do that ?
Also as I am aware that webdynpro applications can be directly deployed on portal through NWDS . But I also know that they can be sca or sda files which can be deployed using SDM . How do I make an sca file out of a webdynpro applications or if they are automatically made then where will I find the sca file correspoding to my webdynpro application ?

Problem when running a WebDynpro application

Webdynpro Application slowness

Hi everyone,
I am working in Netweaver 7.0
I have a webdynpro application which uses ARFC in order to execute a BAPI model object connected to the Action handler of a button.
The response, after the button is clicked for the firsttime , is taking a long time.
But once the response has been shown, the subsequent execution of the model object takes very less time.
Why is this difference?
Is there anything we can do to improve this ?

The following comments I will make is based on my experience.
As per your hyperlink, you would be right. Having "many" FM's per "Model" would be "best practice", but I think this takes into consideration only connection pooling.
In the real-world, this leads to inflated Models, barely re-usable, very 'costly' in Development Time, Build Time and Deployment Time. A fine tuning of JCO Connections is usually better than follow that (again, this is my opinion as a software developer).
Another thing you should be aware of is how the underlying layer works (JCO). If the Model has never been used (Not Cached!) it will take expensive time to build the metadata and modeldata into the destinations. As a 'work-around', (I've never did this, I'm not even sure if this would work) is to create a J2EE Application and 'read' the whole thing at server startup.
Also, be sure to be "caching" both destinations, this is a good 'performance' improvement.

You wouldnt require a Developer Studio to run you
application.But you would require it to deploy (if are
using the JDI ,atleast to perform an Activation).
However you can launch the application once deployed
through the Web Dynpro Content Administrator

The deployed applications are present on the
lefthandside. They can be expanded to drill down to the
Application and the press Run

I am able to upload tab delimited text file and populate the table using the below code but not able to do the same with .xls file. Pls let me know if I need to use a different function module for upload excel file.

Can anyone guide me how to uplode the .xlsx or ..xls formatted excel file using abap webdynpro without converting it to .txt file. Because my client requirement is only to upload the excel file. because to convert the .xlsx flie to .txt file it will be time taking and cost expanssive. Another requirement is suppose today i have create a application for uploading a file which has 8 columns and 10 rows. suppose tomorrow the client will make some changes in that flat file means the client will add 2 extra columns and 10 more columns in that fil. and will upload that file. Then the new file will be display on the browser or old file. but my requirement is to display the new file in browser.
Can anyone kindly help to solve my problem. I am completely fresher in this field and I need to do it as soon as possible. Please help to solve the problem.

I am quite new to Webdynpro and am actually trying to develop a new webdynpro application that calls in some existing BI queries and displays the chart/table as per the query.

Unable to fetch database table from webdynpro application

I have a Webdynpro application trying to fetch data from the database table. I have used the following code to get the connection to the database and execute the sql statement.

I logged into the database using user superdba in sqlcli, and created the table "INV_CUSTOMER". I am trying to run this application in my sneak preview java installation which comes with maxdb 7.6. But when I run the app, it always throws up the error:
The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "INV_CUSTOMER"" contains the semantics error[s]: - 1:15 - the table or view >>INV_CUSTOMER<< does not exist
I am new to this concept, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
It seems to me like there is more than one issue here. Let me try and help you out with some details.
1.) If you have created the Dictionary project and the code in your original post is not giving you problems then it's good. However, the problem of the data disappearing from your Java Dictionary seems little bit wierd. You need to ensure that you are not running any "delete" command and ensure that the select statement (of it has and conditions) is correct.
2.) As far as where the tables actually reside: When you create the Dictionary tables in a Dictionary Project- this will actually create a script that will be run on the server that has an installed database (like Oracle, MSSQL Server or MaxDB, UDB). This means that the dictionary tables are just an abstraction of actual database tables.
In order to ensure that you are not deleting the data - debug your Web Dynpro Application or EJB so that you can go through it step by step and see whether all the database statements are correct. Sometimes you may not get an SQL error due to a NullPointer in the dynamic queries as well - so keep a check on that as well.
If you require a more detailed solution - please give us a small piece of code that we can analyse.

How to use call transaction stmt from webdynpro application

Can I use call transaction 'tcode' in my webdynpro application, I have tried in my application but i am getting short dump saying
Error analysis+
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.The exception, which is assigned to class'CX_SY_SEND_DYNPRO_NO_RECEIVER', was not caught and therefore caused a runtime error. The reason for the exception is: During background processing, the system attempted to send a screen to a user. Current screen: "SAPLMGMM " 0060.
I haven't used any more statements in my application am sure from my application side everything perfect. but I have seen a screen shot
with SAP screen in webbrowser.
Please help me out if you are not clear abt my doubt please ask me for clear idea.

Since you can't use the call transaction command in web dynpros components, I suggest you to create a report and fill a BDC table on this and use the call transaction in this report.
So, in your web dynpro component you can use a command SUBMIT to create a job in background.
