WebElements in JRC?

Hi all,
We have our own custom webapp running under JBoss and delivering some Crystal Reports thru a viewer based on JRC. Some of my reports developpers would like to add WebElements function in some reports and I'm first of all wondering if WebElemens  could be enable in the JRC so that it would work in my webapp in JBoss.
Thanks for your help, regards,
Nicolas

You can refer to those links for information about the WebElements:

  • WebElements in CR4E?

    <p>Looking around the Diamond site, I found the WebElements. The only instructions for installing them seem to be with the other CR tools. Can these widgets be used in CR4E? How do you install them?</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Thanks, </p><p> </p><p>Steve </p>

    <p>In theory they should work with CR4E as well. Rob is right in suggesting that the most common use case is to share the custom functions on the repository, however this is not a requirement. You can create custom functions with CR4E, so you should be able to create the same web elements custom functions. </p><p>I did look at this a few months back and was able to get it working, except for one function which calls an OpenDoc viewer. OpenDoc is the generic viewer our Enterprise platform uses to serve up reports. References to OpenDoc would need to be changed to handle the JRC.</p><p>Let me take a look at this over the holidays and get back to you, but essentially it should work. </p><p>Regards,<br />Sean Johnson (CR4E Product Manager) <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.eclipseplugincentral.com/Web_Links-index-req-ratelink-lid-639.html">Rate this plugin @ Eclipse Plugin Central</a>          </p>

  • Unable to load database connector - using JRC w/report connecting to Oracle

    A simple Java program was created to test a Crystal Report using JRC. The Java program is a thick-client Swing desktop application (modified from an example of crxi_r2_migrating_rdc_to_jrc.pdf). The program failed to execute the report with the following error:
    Unable to load database connector u2018com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.driverImpl.DriverLoader'
    It might be something simple to correct the problem, but I am not able to find related answers in the documentation and from the forum.
    CR version is XI R2. The Java program was compiled and run using jdk1.4.2_13. Oracle is 10.2.
    Do I have to use JDBC? or the CR Oracle driver will do? What needs to be setup? If I use JDBC, what do I need to setup (I tried to following the links in the forums or other documentation, but most of the links to http://support.businessobjects.com/.... are broken - i.e. re-route to the SAP support page but not directly linked to the articles)
    When the report JRCTestReport.rpt was saved with the option "Save Data With Report", it works fine. So the problem is only with Oracle database driver, the other jars are fine.
    In the report JRCTestReport.rpt the database properties are:
           DatabaseDLL             crdb_oralce.dll
           Password
           Server                        myTestDB
           Trusted_Connection    False
           User ID                      MyUser
    The crdb_oracle.dll is located at:
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\bin
    Files are stored in the following tree structure:

  • Not properly displayed report in JRC but in CR designer

    Hi,
    The report has two XML data sources and data are displayed in a Table. Table is designed with multiple column feature. When I run this report in CR designer preview it works fine. But When I run it in JRC, data are displayed on the report. But not in the expected format. Totally different than the CR designer preview.
    We are using Crystal report 2008.
    Can you tell me the cause/ solution for this problem?
    Thanks,
    Makesh

    Is it possible for you to post the screenshots of the report viewed in CR designer and through JRC?

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
    A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

  • JRC Export to Text like Crystal Report Designer Export

    We need to Export report to Text like Crystal Report Designer Export using JRC. Is this possible? I see export ReportExportFormat CSV, PDF and RTF only. These exports are working, But I need plain text that looks like Text export of Crystal Reports Designer. I see this working in RAS 2008. What I can do to get this with JRC. I am using Crystal Reports 2008 to design reports.
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards
    Raveendra
    Clarification

    Thank you Jitin.
    What could be solution to this problem?
    If still I want to go with JRC, Can I write some Java code to perform this export?
    I see TextExportFormatOptions and its not working.
    If I want to export automatically to text format, what other choices are there?
    Basically I need to execute report and generate text file automatically. Text file should look like Crystal Report Designer Exported Text file.
    Thank you for your time.
    Regards,
    Raveendra

  • JRC (upg. to CR4E) - Report w Subreport - Oracle DB -  Null Pointer Excepti

    Hi
    We have a Crystal Designer/Developer Version 11.5.10.1263. We develop reports using this.
    Most of the reports have SQL Command mode design with JNDI/JDBC connection. It gets deployed with our Web application. And during runtime, when users access these reports from our web application, we typically use Java Reporting Component with Crystal Report Viewer SDK to open and display the report to the user.
    Besides other issues, current problem I am having is:
    I have a sub-report in my report. I am connecting to Oracle database. If this sub-report does not return any rows, I was getting a Null Pointer Exception. This seems to be a known bug. This happened to us when we had just the above mentioned components.
    We recently upgraded just the JAR libraries to the ones packaged in CR4E (Crystal Reports For Eclipse) - initially to get more exporting capability.This upgrade gets us past the Null Pointer Exception issue.
    Now, I am getting an error like "Unexpected database connector error". Please see the exception stack trace below if needed. Since we are a product and this display is specific to one out of about 100 different clients; with all the time we spent on making this report stuff work against this oracle DB client, we had finally ended up creating the display in JSP into our general product just for one of about 100 clients. Client must be the Lucky one...As a developer, I felt really frustrated.
    One note:- SQL Server DB works perfect.
    Other thing - Do we need to change any API calls after upgrading the JARS from standard JRC/Viewer to CR4E package?

    I have exactly the same problem. Had posted it on the forum last week, but haven't received any response yet. I just file a single support case ($195) with SAP.  If I hear anything useful back, will keep you posted. Please let me know if you are able to resolve the problem.
    In my case, I can get my report to work with a single subreport.  When I put multiple subreports, I get the same error as you are currently getting.
    Check if your report has any special section formatting (conditional suppression etc).  Try to remove those to see if it helps at all.

  • JRC 2: Performance Problem

    Hi.
    Our reporting component used JRC 1.x before we upgraded to JRC 2.x. We got two issues after upgrading.
    First issue I solved already with a workaround which I published on stackoverflow.com. (1) Does anyone knows where I will find the issue management system to report this issue?
    Second issue occurs big performance problem within our project. We opened a report with 6 subreports (which includes 1 upto 3 tables) in 2-4 seconds using JRC 1. If we will open same report using JRC 2, we wait upto 60 seconds.
    This methods requires more time with JRC 2 comparing to JRC 1:
    ReportClientDocument#open(String, int);
    SubreportController#setTableLocation(String, ITable, ITable)
    DatabaseController#setTableLocation(ITable, ITable)
    Each invocation of one of these methods requires 2-4 seconds.
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards
    Thomas

  • Performance issue with Business Objects Java JRC API in CRXI R2 version

    A report is developed using java JRC API in CR XI release 2. When I generate the report in the designer, it took less than 5 seconds to display the results in crystal report viewer inside the designer. But in the QA environment, when I generate the same report from the application, it takes almost 1 to 1.5 minutes to display the same results in PDF. I also noticed that if the dataset contains bigger volume of data, then the reports are taking even longer almost 15 to 20 minutes.
    While generating the report from the application, I noticed that most of time is taken during the execution of the com.crystaldecisions.report.web.viewer.ReportExportControl Object method as shown in following line of code
    exportControl.processHttpRequest(request, response, context, null)
    We thought the delay in exporting the report to PDF might be the layout of the report and data conversion to PDF for such a bigger volume of data.
    Then we investigated the issue and experimented quickly to generate the same report with same result set data from the application using XML, XSL and converted the output XSL-FO to PDF using Apache FOP (Formatting Objects Processor) implementation. The time taken to export the report to PDF is less than 6 seconds. By doing this experiment, it is proved that the issue is not with conversion of data to PDF but it is the performance problem with Business Objects Java JRC API in CR XI R2.
    In this regard, I searched for the above issue in the SAP community Network Forums -> Crystal Reports and Xcelsius -> Java Development -> Crystal Reports. But I did not find any answers or solutions for this kind of issue in the forums.
    Any suggestion, hint in this matter is very much appreciated.

    Ted, The setReportAppServer problem is resolved. Now I could able to generate the report with hardcoded values in the SQLs in just 6 seconds where as the same report was generated in CRXI R2 in 1 minute 15 seconds as mentioned in the earlier message.
    But, our exisiting application passes the parameter values to the SQLs embedded in the report. For some reason the parameters are not being passed to the report and the report displays only the labels without data.
    As per the crj 12 samples codes, the code is written as shown below.
    1. Created ReportClient Document
    2. SetReportAppServer
    3. Open the report
    4. Getting DatabaseController and switching the database connection at runtime
    5. Then setting the parameters as detailed below
    ParameteFields parameterFieldController = reportClientDoc.getDataDefController().getParameterFieldController();
    parameterFieldController.setCurrentValue("", "paramname",paramvalue);
    parameterFieldController.setCurrentValue("", "paramname",paramavalue);
    byteArrayInputStream = (ByteArrayInputStream)reportClientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
    6. Streaming the report to the browser
    Why the parematers are not being passed to the report?  Do I need to follow the order of setting these parameters?  Did I miss any line of code for setting Params using  crj 12?
    Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

  • WebElements: WEAutoRefresh not working in report

    I'm using this webElement to provide automatic refresh for a Crystal Report (using version 2013).  The server is set up for html pass-through, and webelements has been deployed on the server.  I'm testing on a simple report, without sub-reports, but the official report contains 3 sub-reports.  We need the refresh to occur in the original view, that will be resized for a wallboard monitor, and thereafter will not have any interaction.
    The code for the WEAutoRefresh formula field is:
    Stringvar path:= WETargetPath("rpt", "CUID", "ASp9t6WlwPtIsjmArf4Anpk", "");
    Stringvar autoref:= WEAutoRefresh(15, path);
    The behavior I get when running the report in server view mode is: another Chrome window comes up on the first refresh, but it's empty and untitled.
    And, this was the same behavior using the "Name" ID-Type, and report name instead of CUID.
    Thanks!

    hi Roger,
    can you please try the following:
    1) in your webelements functions > Other directory, right click on the WEAutoRefresh function and choose to disconnect it from the repository (if it's not already disconnected)
    2) replace the code with the code at the very bottom of this reply
    3) save the function and also save it to your repository so that it doesn't get overwritten with the older code
    4) change your formula so that it does not use a target / path...i.e. it's just something like
         WEAutoRefresh(15,'')
    here's the code below...
    // WEAutoRefresh 4.0 last revision December 22, 2011 by Arefe Dalvandi
    Function (numbervar RefreshInterval, stringvar path)
    stringvar output; numbervar platformnum:= WEPlatform;
    RefreshInterval := RefreshInterval*1000;
    output:= output +WEWindowUtilities();
    output := output+
    '<script>'+
    'var wprops=""; var wname="";'+
    (if instr(path, "weIframe") > 0 then
    'function refreshIframe(){'+
    'getTarWin('+chr(39)+path+chr(39)+',wname,wprops); '+
    'setTimeout("refreshIframe()", '+ totext(RefreshInterval, "0", 0)+');}'+
    'setTimeout("refreshIframe()", '+ totext(RefreshInterval, "0", 0)+')'
    else
    'setTimeout("getTarWin('+chr(39)+path+chr(39)+',wname,wprops)", '+ totext(RefreshInterval, "0", 0)+'); ')+
    '</script>';

  • Unable to modify Report using JRC alone

    Hi
    I am trying to modify the report generated thru Crystal reports 2008 programmatically using JRC.
    I dont see any API in com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.DataDefController to modify filters,groups,parameters,sort objects and summaries.
    I could find Controller API to modify the above in com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application package part of RAS SDK which requires RAS to be installed.
    WIll it be possible to modify report using JRC alone?
    because when i use com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument class to open a report, it thorws
    ReportSDKServerException: There is no server specified exception.
    and i am not sure what need to set for ReportClientDocument.setReportAppServer()

    I am not sure how to resolve this issue.
    I have even created a new rpt file. I am getting the same exception/

  • WebElements - Unable to edit WEPlatform

    Hi,
    I am new to WebElements and wanted to have a look at the functions to see how I can use in my reporting suite.
    I am using CR11 and seem to be unable to edit the WEPlatform element to select the Crystal Reports version that I use.
    I notice when I open the WebElements 246.rpt that it advises me that the report was written in a later version of Crystal.
    Is this why I cannot edit the WEPlatform element ? If so how can I obtain a version of the web elements thjat will work with my Crystal version ?
    Any help will be great.
    Cheers,
    Matt

    hi Matt,
    the users guide isn't really clear on this...i will make sure that this gets changed for the next release.
    as webelements are Custom Functions you have to disconnect them from your repository to edit them. if you right click on the platform function and choose disconnect from repository then you can edit the function to match your platform.
    once you've changed the function, you can add it back into your repository overwriting the existing one...that way when you  build a new report using webelements you don't have to keep changing the platform function each time.

  • Performance issue using webelements and crystal

    We have 2 reports named, u201CDAMAGE_REPORTSu201D AND u201CTDI_CHARTu201D
    DAMAGE_REPORTS
    There are 13 dynamic or static Prompts created using Webelements .After clicking on submit button(using
    webelement)  by selecting the prompt values, TDI_CHART report will get opened below the u201CDAMAGE_REPORTSu201D report.
    TDI_CHART
    TDI_CHART created using free-hand SQL which contains 2 commands
            1. Command-SQL is created based on two categories.
                  Trend -Trend By Month ,Trend By Quarter,Trend By Week
                   Non-Trend- Current Month ,Current Year to Date,Last Year to Date,Current Quarter,Last
                                 Quarter,Current Week,Last Week,Last Month,Last Year Total
                 Charts,Cross-tabs and table information is coming from this Query
           2.Image count-contains number of images information based on the prompt selection and it acts as a
                  URL(opendocument) in the report to open TDI_THUMBNAIL report to display the thumbnail images.
    Report information
    TDI_CHART Report contains 8 charts,4 cross-tabs, summary information showing in table format(Detail
           section) and2 open document links(1.For image count 2.Export to excel(which shows the detail information
            of summary table)
    Description
    If the selection is Non-Trend Value from the Time period parameter , corresponding Chart will be shown along   with table information.(Table information is only required for Non-Trend Values).
    If the Selection is Trend Value from the Time period parameter,the corresponding cross tab and chart will be shown and others will get suppressed.
    Problem Area
    After the prompt selection from u201CDamage_Reportsu201D, TDI_CHART report is taking around 1min 30 sec to show the chart and table or cross-tab.
    In Database when we execute the above queries, it comes in 12 secs but whereas in reports it takes 1min 30 sec,can you guide us some steps to bring down this time?

    hello Mufiza,
    copy the url created at the step "After the prompt selection from u201CDamage_Reports".
    paste this url into a new browser window and press enter.
    what is the time to return this report?...this time should also be 1.5 minutes.
    it sounds like you are using 2 commands in the same report. this will often cause performance issues, just like linking two stored procedures together or linking two disparate datasources together.
    this would not be an issue related to webelements but related to the design of your target report.
