WebI report - Report filters question

All,
please help me in understanding if it's possible to have a report filter containing all the possibile values for the dimension it refers to, so that changing the value in this filter, the query is refreshed and shows data according to the new selection.
E.g. In a WebI report I have a table with columns DEPARTMENT, SALES_VALUE and a prompt for "MONTH", so that data in the report are referred to a single month. If I insert the MONTH dimension as a report filter, the drop down list shows only the month selected in the prompt.
My question: is it possible having MONTH query filter drop down list containing all months (not only the month selected in the prompt), so that I can refresh data in the report changing selection in this list?  I mean, In the moment I choose another MONTH from the drop down list associated to the report filter, the report should refresh data (re-launch queries) according to the new month.

Hi,
It is not possible to have the data for all the months if you are having a prompt on month and selecting only 1 in it as an input.
If you want the use of report filter then you have to remove prompt from the report as it will always bring the data for
a single month. You can remove the prompt and can have the filter at the report level, so that when you refresh the query for
the 1st time then whole 12 month of data will be available and then you will be able to select the months from the
drop down and will be able to see the monthly data without need to refresh again.

    In BO XI 3.1 Web-I report is taking lot of time to refresh when any changes are made in edit query mode on the filters.
    When the query is runned for the first time it runs well, but if we make any changes in the filters pane, it is taking lots of time to refresh, and when we cancel the query web-i server is not releasing the server resources (CPU, Memory)
    Did anyone face this kind of a problem, and resolved it.

    why do you need 100K rows in your reports? Is there a way to consolidate/aggregate your data on the database?
    Comparing sqlplus and BOBJ is a little bit unfair. Let me explain you why:
    sqlplus starts displaying data after the query returns the first results. I am sure that if you measure the time that sqlplus needs to display ALL rows, this should be way more than just 10 secs.
    On the other hand BOBJ will display something as soon as the first page can be created. Depending on the way your report is structured, it may be the case that the WebI server should first get ALL rows in order to be able to display the first page of your report. This is for example the case if you let the total number of pages being displayed or if you display total sums already at the header of your report or if you have added a chart based on your data also in the header of your report. Of course, after the first call the report will be cached (and thus fast to be displayed) until you change again the parameters values for your query.
    Since you do not display (or do you use this function in a variable or a formula, maybe?) the total number of pages in your report, I can only assume that you either trying to display total sums (or other kinds of aggregated values) or a chart in the first page of your report. Can you confirm this?

    i am new to web anlysis reports, can we create reports without data in cube in web analysis?( reports templete would be visible without data in cube) because when i tried to create report, i got data is not available after putting all dimensions in rows, column and filters. Can you please anser to this basic question?

    No, as only intersections with data are returned in the reports. You'll need data to see the reports generate.
    Web Analysis is very much a dynamic analysis tool, unlike FR, which has mostly static content (in the form of headers, columns and rows.
    You could probably add data to one member across all dimensions (for example the value 1) and then fix on that member for the report testing.

    I am currently attempting to get the Site Web Analytics reports to work in SharePoint Foundation.  However, there seems to be little available information regarding this.  What is necessary for this to display a report?  To start with, what
    SharePoint & Windows services and SharePoint service applications need to be started?  We use SQL Authentication for the content database because all the databases are in a different domain.
    Any information someone can shed would be helpful.
    Currently, when I navigate to the page it states "A web analytics report is not available for this site.  Usage processing may be disabled on this server or the usage data for this site has not been processed yet."  I have looked up this
    information on the net, but nearly all information applies to SharePoint Server.  I need help setting this up with SharePoint Foundation.

    Ahhh, I had a feeling that was a problem.
    I had similar issues after installing SP1 so I could have some of the new features, like the storage report back for sites, and deleted sites going into the recycle bin. However, I had read that I *had* to install the June 30 CU as well, which may have been
    a mistake. Because after installing both and running a psconfigui, it made things as flaky as they were during the beta.
    It took my good, stable, trustworthy and solid SPF install and made it unstable. Managed Accounts started acting weird, permissions were odd, BDC service crapped out, user code errors, the works. Bummed me out. I basically blew out the server, did a fresh
    install and restored from a farm backup (actually a full then differential, gotta love scheduling backups). Mind you, I could afford to do that, and I simply don't mess around with bad updates.
    (I also found a post that said that if you have SP1 installed, a common error is if you delete a list, then delete the site, you can restore the site from recycle bin, but the list that was deleted from that site earlier cannot be restored-- so to avoid/fix
    that problem, install the August CU... it's always something...)
    Do you have backups of your farm pre-updates, preferably both, but at least the CU? Maybe you can do a restore on a virtual machine to see if it fixes your issues?
    Also, here's another question. After you installed SP1 and the August CU, did you do a psconfigUI.exe (or at the command line, psconfig.exe)? It might be good and bad that you didn't (if you didn't). The way to check to see if you didn't is check the database
    statuses (review database status under Upgrade and Patch Management in Central Admin). The statuses will say that the databases can be/should be updated if you didn't run psconfig. That means that SharePoint has updated, but the databases in SQL haven't.
    Maybe you can make a copy of those databases, and try to attach those databases to a pre-update (sp1 and CU) SharePoint Foundation server to see if web analytics work there again. Although, if I am understanding correctly, some changes can occur on databases
    during updates, but they're not complete til psconfig is run. But hey, it's worth a shot.
    Or you can use psconfigui.exe (or psconfig.exe if you want to use the command line) to update the databases and see if that fixes the problem.
    I'm sorry again about your issues if they are update related. It is so frustrating to think you are trying to stay up to date on your server, being a good admin, and instead it breaks important things without apology or way to fix it (since cumulative updates

  • SharePoint 2010: Scheduled Web Analytics Reports workflow is not sending ANY email

    Hello,
    I've a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise farm. I setup a Scheduled Web Analytics Reports workflow in a site collection with different web analytics reports options checked. So far I've not got ANY email. When I went to Site Workflows, I'm seeing that the workflow
    is running. When I click on Completed status, I see below outcome in the Workflow History section:
    "Email sent but reports with no data were not attached."
    And I see below information in the Workflow History list:
    "Attached are the daily Web Analytics reports for 1/7/2015 through 1/7/2015 for SharePoint Site Collection
    http://server/team/site scheduled by workflow "SharePoint Site Web Analytics Reports". "
    I am able to generate the reports manually by going to Site Collection Web Analytics Reports, but I want to schedule them. The problem is I'm not getting ANY email in my inbox. What am I missing here? Are the emails getting filtered by Outlook or workflow
    is not sending emails at all?
    Please help! This is getting frustrated.

    Hi Ashish,
    Based on your description, my understanding is that the email is not sent from the Scheduled Web Analytics Reports workflow.
    I recommend to the things below:
    1. Check if the Outgoing email has been configured for the web application where you run the Scheduled Web Analytics Reports workflow.
    In Central Administration > Application management > Manage web applications > select the corresponding web application > click General Settings in the ribbon and select Outgoing E-mail.
    2. Make sure that your account has email address configured.

  • Error on running reports with filters/security

    Hi,    I am trying to run a report with filters/security defined via Business View.  When I run the report as administrator, I am able to view successfully.  However, when I login as test/dummy account which filters my parameters, I am getting such error - "A request was cancelled.  The necessary security privileges could not be verified.  This indicates a problem with the security server."  Appreciate all the help I can get.Thank you,Michelle

    According to your description that you are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2, after migration you got some error like “The Uri string is too long” which only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions, right?
    Usually, the issue can be caused when you try to pass some parameters that cause the URL length to exceed 65,520 characters for a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services (SSRS 2012), you cannot render the report, and you may receive the following error
    message:
    The value of parameter 'param' is not valid. (rsInvalidParameter).Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long.
    This is an known issue and already have the hotfix SQL Server 2012 Service Pack1 Cumulative Update 9 (CU9) as you know, you can try to reinstall this hotfix to fixed this issue:

  • No data in web analytics report after moving to new server

    Hi,
    I have a Sharepoint 2010 portal, we need to move that portal to a new server.
    For this, I took the backup of the Web Analytics Reporting db and Staging db and restored them in the SQL of new server. Then, I created new Web Analytics Service Application on the new server with reference to the restored databases.
    Now, when I go to check Web Analytics report, there is no data in it.
    Is this because the url of my portal is now changed? Will I be able to get all my data when I change the AAM of new server to the old portal's url?

    I wonder if Data exists starting from the date of finishing moving. If not, then please make sure Web Analytic is working in your environment.
    You could also check ULS log for relevant error information.

  • How to Set up the User POV in Web Analysis report

    Hi , I am new to create the Hyperion Web Analysis report.
    I am trying to set up the user POV. I have followed the document and did the below steps.
    1. I went to User preference -> OLAP Server -->checked the BOX "Save Filters only for POV".
    2. selected the layout and in options checked the Use user POV.
    after that I have opened the report in HTML. nothing got prompted.
    When I opened the Financial report, It will prompt user to select the year, period, entity, etc... I need the same way in Web Analysis also.
    I have selected Accounts in rows, Entity, Year, Period in columns , rest all i kept in Filters.
    Could some one please help me how user can get prompted to select the members from dimensions.

    What you have in Webanalysis is POV and PV
    Applying Point of View (POV)
    Selecting Personal Variables
    You can also look at Oracle - Hyperion Labs......: WebAnalysis - how to show the current user's report when he logs in to see how PV can be leveraged.
    There is no prompt option in WebAnalysis

  • Drill Down and Drill UP on Web Analysis Report

    Hi all,
    I have a question regarding Drill down and Drill up on Web Analysis Report.
    The situation is the following:
    I've created a report with some account parent elements in row. The dimension account has a multiple hierarchy.
    I need to drill down on the child of these elements keeping the parente on top and so i've selected the option "Selected Member First".
    The drill down it's ok for the first drill to go on the next level but when i drill down once more to go on the next level of the selected member hierarchy the drill move this level out hierarchy.
    Can someone help me on this point?
    After that i've drilled just to the last level when i drill up on these elements to return on the previous level i note that in the report happens a strange thing:
    The Drill Up works fine but on the report appears another elements which is the same parent with anothe code/alias of another hierarchy instead of the Selected member.
    On this i've noted tha this 2 different parente have the same elements...I think that the children of the selected memeber can be shared members....Can be this the problem?

    If I take only one parent member the drill up works fine but if i take all 2 memeber as above and i decide to drill up on one of the two element occur that the drill work for the two elements at the same time.

    Can be a problem due to shared memebers?

    I realized that I can put a block in WebI and then I can pull that in excel alongside of static header, after putting the question.
    My interest to know whether it is by design in XI 3.0 or it is an issue. But by the replies it seems to me like it is by design.
    @Anis: I can't go for header as part of Body. Because this report is viewed in Web by many other users. I can't have separate report for Live office, it is a restriction for me. If I use the header in body, it wont look good I guess.

    In DIAdem REPORT, the 4th panel of the left hand side, you create multi-page reports from 2D&3D graphs, tables, pictures and texts.
    When you save this templete is stores into an XML based file formate that DIAdem reads called TDR. This is so you can resue these templates with what ever dataset you want.
    However you also have the choice from the file menu in DIAdem REPORT (4th panel) to export to an HTML report.
    After you have desinged you template, and are displaying data, select "HTML Export" from the file menu in DIAdem REPORT. This will save your file in a format that is compatible with web browsers.

    When I run a query for web inteeligence documnet I receive a wrong result. But when I run the same SQL query in SQL analyzer of MS SQL server I get correct result.
    e.g. I get the same value of measure object against different dimension in web inteeligence report but I get correct values of measure when I run the query in query analyzer on SQl server
    Pl guide me to get correct result in Webi

    Are you copying and pasting the query from WebI into SQL Server? Seems a bit odd, as the SQL should be sent to SQL Server to run...
    I would check the report level settings, such as filters, or what have you... also check that there aren't more than one SQL query being run in WebI that you haven't noticed...

    I am new to this forum, i am not sure whether i have asked the question to the right group our not.
    Here is my question,
    I have a situation where in i have to add a logo for each company based on the selection of the company name.
    The things which I have done:
    For that i have stored all the company logo as bmp file in the server. I have created an object in the universe to fetch that information(url) from the table but while preparing the Web intelligence report, i am getting the logo as a url. Even after changing the format to "image url"
    could anyone give me a solution for this?

    to add an image to the Webi
    1) add your images in this folder" C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Images" in a jpg format  lets say " myimage.jpg"
    2) add a free standing cell to the web report.
    3) in the properties of this cell , go to background image , click custom , write the name of the image "myimgae.jpg" by default it will wirte to you "boimg://myimage.jpg" and it will show you your image in the box
    4) configure the properties of the image like, position and border, etc.

  • Report data filters depending on user

    I have web intelligence report returning data grouped by departments. Is it possible to filter report data by department for user logged in depending on user's department?

    This can be achieved in 3 ways:
    1. In Web Intelligence
    Providing you have a table in your database that holds username and department you create a webi report where you select "Dept. Username", "Department" and all other objects you require for your report.
    - Run the Query
    - Create a new variable called CurrentUser => Formula: =CurrentUser()
    - Create a new variable called "Department Filter" => Formula: =If([CurrentUser] = "Dept. Username" ; "Yes" ; "No")
    - Create a new report filter: Department Filter = "Yes"
    This will only return the deprtment for the user that is currently logged on to BO.
    2. On universe level you could use access restrictions to achieve this
    3. If you require to schedule the report, you could create a group for each department and assign this group to a profile that filters on department.

    These default mandatory variables/ prompts  are not seen in web i report

    Did you create an OSS message for this too? It is good to have these things under close observation.
    And which version are you on XI3.1 or BI4.0?
    For 3.1, only variables in the filter section (left pane) and are input ready will get generated as prompts in the universe.
    You can check this very directly by looking at the generated filters (hidden, mandatory on universe).
    For 4.0, When you create a WebI report on the BEx query, the prompts do pop up?
    So all ready for input, whether mandatory or optional are visible?
    Then you run the query, create your webI report and try to use it and the prompts for the BEx variables are not shown.
    If this is the case then you have the problem that the default values are 'saved' on the first execution and cannot be changed later on (because they cannot be purged, WebI just treats the prompt as 'answered' and it will not ask for it again.
    Planned to be delivered with patch 2.5 (not available yet) the behavior will be slightly changed, when you purge the data from a WebI document, it will also clear the defaults, thus triggering the prompting again...
