Webi schedule failure

I have a webi report against BW data using BICS connection which is scheduled to run every week. The schedule fails with the error" while trying to invoke the method com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.provider.selector.IProviderInfoObject.getName() of an object loaded from field com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.consumer.impl.selector.InfoObject.providerInfoObject of an object loaded from local variable 'this' " but completes successfully when scheduled with "run now" option.
The report itself takes 15-20 min to run.
I have tried changing the timeout parameters.
Has anyone else faced similar issue??

Yes, we have split our APS. The request time out paremeter is set on the DSL BRIDGE APS which has the following services
DSL Bridge Service
Security Token Service
TraceLog Service
WebIntelligence Monitoring Service
and also on the web Intelligence Processing server which has these services
Information Engine Service
Single Sign-On Service
TraceLOg Service
Web Intelligence Common Service
Web Intelligence Core Service
Web Intelligence Processing Service
The value is set to 7200000. Let me know if this helps.

Sending an email to the user if the WEBi scheduling failed in CMC

Hello Everyone,
Current scenario :
I am scheduling WEBi report through CMC and the report is going to end user email as an excel attachment.
Desired Functionality :
What happens is if the scheduling fails due to some reason. The email does not go to the end user on a particular date and then he complaints.
What i need here an email sending option that if the WEBi scheduling has been failed in CMC an email should go to the user saying : " The WEBi scheduling has failed. The team is working on it " . (This is just a sample message)
So the idea is to send an email to the user when the WEBi scheduling fails in the CMC. How to achieve this ?

Hi Ashutosh,
You can send an alert email to a group when the schedule fails to run by choosing the "A job has failed to run" option under notification.
You can see this option only if you schedule the report through CMC.

Error: Component failed to run due to a Object Package scheduling failure

BusinessObjects XI R2 SP 5, FP 5.1
I am trying to schedule a group of reports (crystal reports) via a package where the output destination is to an email. At the event of execution of the scheduled time for the package; the package fails with the error: Component failed to run due to a Object Package scheduling failure. (Note: When scheduled individually it is successful and it was copied to the package from its original location, so there is no mistake in parameters or ODBC connections)
When we go to the history and within the instance, we see that some of the reports have the status as success and some are failed with the same error message. Even though some of the reports are made to fail at the event of 'NO DATA'; what I do not understand is that how come some of the other reports (which contains data and which works when trying to run manually or scheduled individually) are failing.
I would understand something is wrong when the entire package fails which is not the case here as say of 50 reports, 5 are successful and the rest fails with the same error.

Lync 2013 Web Scheduler SMTP Server for invitations - non-exchange env

We cannot get the Lync 2013 Web Scheduler to send email invites to anyone even after configuring the SMTP server for both the external and internal sites on our one and only front-end (we did the super simple same box install for testing
purposes). Yes we have done an IISReset;) Has the SMTP server configuration process for the now built-in Lync 2013 Web Scheduler changed since the add-on Lync 2010 Web Scheduler?
BTW, unless we haven't search for the right phrase(s), it seems there is ZERO documentation about configuring this for 2013 - only for 2010.

[BO 4.0] Webi scheduling issue

Hi,
We are using Business Objects 4.0. i have a webi report that uses SAP BW as source. We are using DF to create universes for these webi report. In DF Admin tool, we have manually mapped the RFC connection to programID field. While scheduling this webi report, scheduling fails with the following reason,
Database error: [Data Federator Driver] [Server] [Connector 'RC_SalesAw'] Connection failure: com.sap.conn.jco.JCoException: (103) RFC_ERROR_LOGON_FAILURE: Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attempts on 172.16.8.135 sysnr 01. (IES 10901)
Note that we are providing the corrrect user name / password for these users.
Please provide your inputs on this issue.

despite your assurances, it clearly indicates that the logon string provided for the relational BW connection is not authenticating correctly..
Whilst your BO logon may be correct, i would encourage you to check all the credentials used elsewhere in this connectivity
Does this same universe refresh correctly when running webi in ad-hoc mode? i.e. not scheduling?
If Yes - i'd recommend you log a Support message.

Strange issue with WEBI schedule Report

I have a strange issue with schedule WEBI reports, a schedule report runs for Hours , i reschedule it again by deleting the instance and the schedule report never got succeed even after running for hours.
Any idea???

Hi Manoj,
1. Try to put some filters in the report and then run the report. if it takes less time, then probably your query is fetching very large data.
2. MDX query error may be the reason , this error come when a query runs endless, please try running the query 2-3 times, or when load on server is less.

Webi scheduling error in BO 4.0 SP04 after security patch updates in windows server 2008 R2

We are getting below error in BO 4.0 SP04 Web Intelligence report scheduling after security patch updates in windows server 2008 R2
while trying to invoke the method com.businessobjects.sdk.core.server.IServer.getServerContext() of an object returned from com.businessobjects.rebean.wi.impl.services.DocumentInstanceManagementServiceImpl.getServer(com.businessobjects.sdk.core.context.IContext, com.businessobjects.rebean.wi.model.engine.IDocumentInstance)
We have reverted back security patch but still giving above scheduling problem in BO 4.0 SP04 WebI and we can view and refresh report.
Is there any way to fix the scheduling problem in BO 4.0 SP04 WebI?

Webi scheduling to destinations error

Hi,
I'm trying to schedule a Webi report to export to a shared folder. I'm using BOXIr2 SP4 in a Windows environment.
We schedule a lot of Crystal reports to destinations and in order to do this each time we need a new destination we get our Securities Access Team to give our BOXI account access to the relevant folder.
This is the first time we have tried to export a Webi report and we keep getting the error 'destination file error. CrystalEnterprise.DiskUnmanaged: Access is denied', even when we try to export to a folder we know the Crystal reports are successfully exporting to.
What extra access do Webi reports need in order to be successfully exported to a folder? The 'unmanaged disk' destination is enabled for our webi jobservers and I have the correct rights to schedule to destinations from the BOXI folder of reports.

Have found the answer - the webi job server was running under the local system account not the proper network account that the crystal job server was running under.

As per SAP Note - 1432731, this issue is targeted to be fixed in SP5. The proposed workaround is:
- restart CMS, then the Adaptive Job Server(s) and WebI Processing Server(s).
For some Production environment that may be an issue.
However, I also tested following workaround which seemed to have worked:
1. launched the Instance Manager and checked how many Pending instances objects were displayed for a single report.
There were too many (about 1,595)
2. Used the Query Builder and delete those Pending instances
Having applied this workaround, most of recurring reports completed successfully.

Excel unable to read WEBI schedule download excel file

Hi experts,
We use BO central management's instance manager to schedule download a report as excel format in our ftp share folder.
And the download did run successfully and an icon of the file been shown as excel format in ftp folder.
while we use excel 2007 to open the file, excel pop out the message of unable to read the file.
it is saying the excel found unreadbale content in report. Do you want to recover the contens of this workbook? if you trust the source of this workbook, click yes. after applied the yes, excel stil pop out the message of unable to read the file.
the general tab in excel been uncheck the "ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), but result still shown unable to read.
The whole set of report can be run in WEBI and using save report to my computer as excel without any issues.
WEBI been setup as refresh on open.
Any clues?

Did you create a PivotTable report in the file? As your description, the HTML format could be used correctly in Excel 2007. Did you get the other error message?
Such as,Unable to read file.
When you click OK, you receive the following error message:
Errors were detected in '<var>filename</var>.xls', but Microsoft Excel was able to open the file by making the repairs listed below. Save the file to make these repairs permanent.
PivotTable report '<var>report_name</var>' on '[<var>filename</var>.xls]worksheet_name' was discarded due to integrity problems.
Please try to use the workaround:
Turn off AutoRecovery when you work with any workbooks.Click Excel button>Excel options>Save>Uncheck AutoRecovery
Following this, if the issue exists, I recommend you fix the issue the following KB：

PROBLEM OPENING WEBI Scheduled Instance scheduled as Excel (larg size)

I am scheduling a webi report in Excel format.The size of this report exceeds 65K.When I try to open it using openDocument url it hangs.This could not be done even with BO SDK java.

Which product version are you using? The amount of rows doesn't matter as much as the physical size of the file. How large is this file you're trying to open? Can you view the instance from InfoView or CMC instead of OpenDocument? If the size is too large for the appserver to handle, then neither OpenDoc, InfoView or CMC may work.

So are you opening it using OpenDocument URL or the BusinessObjects Enterprise SDK? You appear to refer to both.
If OpenDocument URL, then there's no SDK control over that, so you may want to ask over at the BusinessObjects Enterprise Admin forum.

Maintain a Webi schedule outside of BOE

My requirement is this:
A single parameterised webi document needs to link to instances of itself, passing in parameters to input prompts from parent to child. In order to aid performance, the intention is to schedule the document so that an instance exists for each parameter value and using the appropriate opendoc syntax the corresponding pre-canned instance is opened rather than having to refresh the document from the DB.
However, my problem arises because there are several hundred values that need to be fed into the prompt i.e. resulting in several hundred scheduled instances of the report. As I understand it, this scheduling where prompt values change has to be done manually in BOE.
Does anyone know of a way to automate this? Perhaps keeping the schedule in an Excel document and importing it?
