Weblogic 10.0 and Weblogic 8.1.5 - StreamCorruptedException

Is anyone else having any these issues? We are running one Weblogic 8.1.5 server using JSE 1.4. We are running another Weblogic 10.0 server using JSE 6. We host a 2.1 EJB on the WLS 8.1.5 server. We try to call the RemoteEJB from the WLS 10.0 server and get a StreamCorruptedException (can not marshall Weblogic class AuthenticatedUserImpl, or something like that). Pretty simple scenario. Is this a JSE problem? Is this a WLS problem?
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello Serge,
You need to check your tnsnames.ora file. You need to very that the service name you are using on the NT client is really connecting you to the linux server.
The Oracle docs cover how to set it up.

Yes theres a difference, these domains wont have Portal needed resources configured
Use the domain configuration wizard and you can create a new Portal domain or extend an existing one to add all the portal features.. look at edocs.bea.com for more info

How to run weblogic 8.1 and weblogic 9.2 simultaneously

I have data service platform installed on Weblogic 8.1 platform and Aqualogic service bus installed with Weblogic 9.2.And I want to start both the servers at the same time.
I have configured Weblogic server 8.1 domain to listen on 7771 port while weblogic 9.2 server domain is listening on 7001.However when I start both the server then one server starts and others server fail to start and in prompt following error message is displayed :
ERROR:Transport error 202:bind failed:Address already in use["transport.c",L41]
ERROR:JDWD Transport dt_socket failed to inintialized TRANSPORT_INIT<510>["debugInit.c",L500]
JDWD exit error JVMTI_ERROR_INTERNAL<113>:No transport inintialized

Can you show us the full error message? I don't know of anything in WLS that uses port 202 by default. It's a privileged port as well which makes it even more unusual.

Communicating between Weblogic 8.1 and Weblogic 10.3

I have a requirement where in I need to access Queues in Weblogic 10.3 from Weblogic 8.1 and viceversa.
Weblogic 8.1 :
This has a proxy/web application that needs to put request to a Queue exposed in weblogic 10.3
And will again poll for a Response Queue in weblogic 10.3
Is it feasible, knowing the fact that jdk version in 8.1 is 1.4 & Jdk version is 1.6 in 8.1 ?
Can we lookup for Queue defined in 8.1 in Weblogic 10.3 ? Can we use JMS adapter in 10.3 for acheiving this.

When i tried to create InitalContext object on Weblogic 9.1 It gives me following error.
"javax.naming.CommunicationException [Root exception is weblogic.socket.UnrecoverableConnectException: [Login f

The EJB is deployed on Weblogic 6.1 and client deployed on Weblogic 9.1 trying to access that EJB.
Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

WebLogic 9.2 and weblogic.policy file

I'm using weblogic.policy file while starting weblogic.
After adding it to JAVA_OPTIONS in startWebLogic.cmd I've got AccessControlException, and I'have to grant this persmision to all:
permission java.util.PropertyPermission "debug.properties", "read";
permission java.util.PropertyPermission "netuix.logger.implementation", "read";
permission java.util.PropertyPermission "netuix.formatter.implementation", "read";
permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "accessDeclaredMembers";
permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "weblogic.kernelPermission";
permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "setContextClassLoader";
This is not all permissions which I have to grant.
While I'm tring to run my deployed application I've got
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission D:\serwery\bea\jrockit90_150_04\jre\lib\managementapi.jar read).
So which permission I have to give (I don't want to add this permissions to all, so the question is where this permissions have to be added).
I think that this permissions should be granted to Servlets, as it is written on page

but resource path "file:/weblogic/application/defaults/Web" seems strange to me - there is nothing like this in Weblogic 9.2"
I also add this grant:

If you are going to publish the policy file in the Web Service archive, the policy XML file must be located in either the META-INF/policies or WEB-INF/policies directory of the EJB JAR file (for EJB implemented Web Services) or WAR file (for Java class implemented Web Services), respectively.
Can you make sure the policy file is in there?

Weblogic 6.1 to Weblogic 9.2 : Migration Issue

We have migrated our application from weblogic 6.1 to weblogic 9.2
However there is one difference while handling unicode data in weblogic 6.1 and weblogic 9.2
Difference is:
In weblogic 6.1, When user inputs unicode string in JSP, it is sent to servlet as it is, meaning there is not entity conversion.
While in Weblogic 9.2, When user inputs unicode String in JSP, it is sent to servlet in html numeric entity format.
This is creating issues because Weblogic 6.1 enters this unicode data in informix database as it is meaning with out any conversion.
Whereas, Weblogic 9.2 converts the unicode data in html numeric entity form, and this form is saved in database.
So the problem is, when a user tries to retrieve the multi lingual string saved in database using Weblogic 6.1, he is not able to view it correctly.
Where as if the user tries to retrieve the multi lingual string saved in database using Weblogic 9.2, he is able to view it correctly.
Did anybody faced this issue before? I mean what should be the right approach to solve this problem?
1. Can we instruct Weblogic 9.2, not to convert the multi lingual string in html numeric entity form.
2. Since the jsp expects html numeric entity form for displaying data, it is not able to display the multi lingual data properly. Can we instruct the jsp, not to expect html numeric entity, so that it display multi lingual data properly.

We have done some more analysis for the above issue:
Our application is deployed on two different weblogic servers as mentioned in the first post i.e Weblogic 6.1 and weblogic 9.2.
One thing that we notice is:
Application that is deployed on Weblogic 6.1, enters the multi lingual data as entered by the user i.e it does not do any encoding of the data.
Where as application deployed on weblogic 9.2 stored the data in encoded format.
So while we can see the multi lingual data correctly on Weblogic 9.2 for the data enetered using this server.
But since the data enetered using Weblogic 6.1 is stored as it is, it is not displayed correctly on Weblogic 9.2.
For Example :
Suppose the multi lingual string entered is : Уважаемые Господа
So with application deployed on Weblogic 6.1 server it would be stored as : Уважаемые Господа
while with application deployed on Weblogic 9.2 it would be stored as : &# 1059;&# 1074;а&# 1078;&# 1072;&# 1077;&# 1084;&# 1099;&# 1077; &# 1043;&# 1086;&# 1089;&# 1087;&# 1086;&# 1076;&# 1072;
Actually there is no space between &# and the numbers but since it was not displaying properly i had to put space in between.
So when we view string which is added by application deployed on WLs 6.1, on Weblogic 9.2 it is not getting displayed properly.
Hope this piece of information helps in providing solution.

Before going for weblogic 6.0 i would like to know like what are the additional
features available (when used as a webserver)in weblogic 6.0 compared to 5.1

Issue in bringing up CRS on ATG 10.1.1 with MySQL and Weblogic 10.3

I am trying to bring up Commerce Reference Store as part of my evaluation using MySQL (bundled with ATG) and WebLogic 10.3.
I followed the ATG Documentation on CRS with WebLogic and MySQL and I could not proceed because of the below error log. I keep getting error in OnlineCreateServerInstanceTask of CIM. I believe it should be some configuration problem, but could not think of any.
As part of the installation, I use C:\jdk1.6.0_25. I verified my weblogic server is up through the admin console. I started MySQL before running the eval batch. Apart from starting MySQL server, I did not make any datasource/database configuration changes for ATG. I have not run any other scripts to configure MySQL too.

How do I configure weblogic 10.3 to eclipse[indigo]?
1.Change Eclipse memory settings by updating the properties of eclipse.ini file -Xmx768m -Xms256m
2.Make sure this configuration (-Dsun.lang.ClassLoader.allowArraySyntax=true) is there, if not add it and save the file.
3.Make sure you have configured your Weblogic server in "Development" mode. If node done, please change the configuration.
4.Start Eclipse
5.Go to Window -> Preferences -> Server -> Installed Runtimes -> Add
6.In the dialog "New Server Runtime", there is a link "Download additional server adapters". Click it, and Eclipse will search on the Internet for additional server adapters. When it's done, select “Oracle Web Logic Server Tools” (or more appropriate one, if you get one) and install it.
7.Alternate to step 5, you can add http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/oepe/galileo as updated site in Eclipse and install the Eclipse pack from Oracle.
8.Restart your Eclipse after installation.
9.Open server view as Window ->Open View -> Others -> Server ->Servers
10.Right click on the pane, and select new server
11.In the next screen, select your JRE e.g. JRE 1.5 and Weblogic installation directory e.g. C:\bea\weblogic.

I got the below response from Oracle support, and I'm trying to see where this Servers tab is. I see a servers tab in preference, but I don't think that's what they mean because there's no domain item.. Any idea?
Basically, OEPE connects to weblogic domain through admin server. When you create a new server in OEPE, you only choose domain instead of individual servers, and that server created maps to domain's admin server.
If you want to deploy the application developed in OEPE to managed servers or cluster, you could try the following:
1) browse to Servers tab
2) right click on the domain
3) choose 'Properties'
4) choose 'WebLogic' -> 'Publishing' -> 'Advanced'
5) move disired target from left to right

I am using Coherence as a cache for my weblogic application. I use a Message Driven Bean that receive a message, write something in Coherence and then write an other message in a result queue.
I want all this operations to be fully transactional. To do this I try to use the Coherence Container Integration with JCA (see http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH33UG/Transactions%2C+Locks+and+Concurrency).
My first problem here is to install the rar file in weblogic. I try in weblogic version 10 and 8.1 (my coherence version is 3.2) and I got the following errors :

Are you sure this is correct? During the prepare phase I would have expected the
changes to have been made persistent (durable within the grid) but not immediately
visible on at least another node within the cluster assuming Coherence is using the
grid itself as a transaction log service.What I wrote is how the TransactionMap API documentation describes it.
I believe, the idea behind it is that the commit phase writes data to the underlying cache with putAll and removeAll operations which are supposed to be fail-safe and are not waiting for any other threads if the client owns the locks for the entries, even in case of cluster node failures.
With the transaction consistency and isolation verified in prepare() and all relevant locks owned, there is no transactional reason why the commit could fail. The only possible causes of failure are disastrous conditions or errors in write-through cache store operations preventing success of the putAll/remove operations (or coding errors in serialization/deserialization/indexed-methods).
If not then how would Coherence ensure the commit would be successfully executed
after a voting to commit during the prepare phase even in the event of a failure
occurring before commit. The TransactionMap 2PC is not supposed to be interleaved with other 2PC operations. It is supposed to work only above the Coherence caches (actually you can add one 1PC operation between the TransactionMap prepare()-s and TransactionMap commit()-s, if you implement CacheFactory.commitTransactionCollection manually).
Full XA is not supported over the caches by Coherence.
The XA-related stuff I mentioned is when you use the Coherence CacheAdapter to enlist Coherence caches under a JTA transaction. However in this case the caches together act as a 1PC resource (JCA LocalTransaction mode) from the JTA TransactionManager-s point of view and you do not see anything from it being internally 2PC.
In this case, the JTA transaction 2PC operation proceeds as follows:
1. All real XA resources enlisted to the JTA transaction are prepared. After this point all JDBC changes over an XA-driver JDBC connection are flushed to the database, so all locks to be acquired are acquired.
2. If all were prepared successfully, then the transactional caches enlisted under the JCA Adapter are committed together with code equivalent to CacheFactory.commitTransactionCollection(). The transactional caches are practically TransactionMap-s wrapped in two or three layer of wrapper objects.
3. If the CacheFactory.commitTransactionCollection() succeeded, then all the XA resources enlisted to the JTA transaction are committed. All JDBC locks are released only at this point.
Why I mentioned XA and locks and TRANSACTION_EXTERNAL in this thread at all is that if you modified equivalent entries in Coherence to what you modified in XA JDBC, then you don't in fact need to lock those entries in Coherence, because equivalent locks with a broader lifetime are existing in the database. TRANSACTION_EXTERNAL allows you to do just that.

in a Jboss 4.0.2 and Weblogic 8.1. Very simple app with JSF.
The error seems to be in application.xml. Maybe because xml schema.
It is a bug? Are there a workround?

How to change location for config files in WLS6.0 (like weblogic.home and weblogic.system.home in 5.1)

Hi,
I would like to point weblogic to a directory NOT under c:\bea\... for it's configuration.
I used to do this on WLS 5.1 by setting:
weblogic.home=/weblogic and weblogic.system.home=/projects/wlsconfig
This way my config was NOT coupled to the weblogic install.
I want to do the same thing, and have the config directory located in /projects/domainconfig
for example.
weblogic.system.home etc doesn't seem to do anything. The
only variable that does anything is bea.home, but I need weblogic to find it's
libs etc in /bea, but ONLY the config should be elsewhere.
Any help would be great.

From SP1 and beyond, you can use
-Dweblogic.RootDirectory=<dirname>
* The property for specifying configuration location:
* The directory name of the domain from which to load the specified
* configuration. The default is ".".
* -Dweblogic.RootDirectory=<dirname>

Apache httpd.conf and Weblogic server integration.

Dear friends,
I am seeing a strange problem in my Apache and weblogic integration work.
In the Apache httpd.conf file, under mod_weblogic.c module, if i dont turn DebugConfigInfo ON then my system is not working properly. always hitting with http 404 error. can you please explain why this is required and if required is it mandatory to turn it ON ?
when i read in weblogic docs, its mentioned as to turn it OFF for security reasons. But if i make it as OFF then my website is not working properly.
Here is the conents of mod_weblogic.c module in my httpd.conf file.

I donot have the complete httpd.conf with me right now but you have to follow the following steps:
1) Compile Apache with ssl module included
2) Instead of Port 80 change the port to 443 at global level or at virtual directory level
3) If u want to redirect the traffic on port 80 to port 443 then also include mod_rewrite module while compiliing apache and write a rule to redirect the traffic from port 80 to 443
