Weblogic Log Files

Hi,
Can anybody explain What is the difference between server.log and server.out files?
Thenks for your help.

Hi,
Just adding to Rene,
The server.log records information about events such as the startup and shutdown of servers, the deployment of new applications, or the failure of one or more subsystems. The messages include information about the time and date of the event as well as the ID of the user who initiated the event.

  • What's wrong with the weblogic.log file?

Currently we got a problem and don't know what it means -
our weblogic.log file grows very fast by generating huge amount of logs like:
    ####<Feb 18, 2003 10:29:13 AM CST> <Info> <DGCserver> <awhq7232.whq.ual.com> <ECSserver>
    <ExecuteThread: '13' for queue: 'default'> <> <> <000000> <Tried to renew lease
    on lost reference: '1160'>
I counted and found that weblogic.log adds in at least 50 such logs per minute
and its size imcreases about 20M per day. But the application still work normally.
Could you experts help us on the following questions:
    - Why WebLogic Container generates so many "Info" kind of logs?
    - Could we config the WebLogic Server to avoid such "Info" kind of logs being
    written into weblogic.log file?
    Thank you very much!
    Bill Yuan

It is harmless - it means that by the time server got to process lease
renewal message object is already gone.
You may want to check with support - I think there was a fix which supressed
    this message.

  • How to view weblogic log files from a browser

    Hi,
I am running WebLogic Server 7.03 on Solaris 8.
I have one Admin and multiple Managed servers running.
Each creates its own log file.
Is there anyway I can access this log files from the browser ?
In Apache, you can create a link from htdocs dir to the logs dir
and then view the log files from the browser. Is there a similar
    mechanism in Weblogic server.
A quick response is well appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

If you are on a unix system you can do something similar by making an open
directory webapp with symbolic links to the weblogic log directories. I suggest
that you protect that webapp with administration access only.

  • How to configure weblogic log file?

    HI
How do i configure Weblogic server log file to log weblogic related information as well as my application?
I need to maintain one log file for weblogic and my application.
    Thanks,

Then glassfish instance is either not configured yet or installed somewhere else. Try looking under your user's home directory like C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\glassfish\domains\domain1\logs

    Hi,
Open up admin console. Expand "Servers" node to view servers in domain.
Right click on a server (or select Logging/ General tab) and select "view
    server log".

one on my W2K laptop and an AS400
When a nosuchmethod error is logged on my W2K webserver
    I get the method name.
When the same error is generated on my AS400 webserver it does not.
Is there a way to get it to show up in the AS400 weblogic.log
    thanks in advance

  • Debug info to log file

    G'day,
I have jsp which I am attempting to write some debug info to the log
              using out.println(...) java statement.
My question is how do I make it go to the weblogic log file as opposed
              to my html page ?
              Any help would be appreciated.
              Cheers

Why can't you use ServletContext.log()? I've been using that all the
              time.

  • Disabling logging to weblogic.log during startup of WLS

    Hello,
Does anybody know how to disable logging to the weblogic.log file during startup
    of WLS (v5.1.0).
Specifically I would like to hide parameters such as username and password that
show up as clear text for example when a database pool is created.
    Thanks,
    Murtaza.

Hi under WLS5.1.0, you can not do it.
    thanks

  • Which log file contains System.err output?

If I start weblogic using startWebLogic.cmd then output sent to System.err gets
output to the console window that opens up. However, if I instead start weblogic
as a service, nothing sent to System.err gets output to the weblogic.log file.
    Where does it go?

    Hi there,
My message was borne of 2 days frustration out of nearly a year of smooth operations with Oracle App Server. Unfortunately I let my mouth (or fingers) run off with those frustrations and made a post that was innappropriate and un-necessary and like every bad workman I blamed my tools.
My apologies for that. Having found where the OPMN logs are stored (and it's pretty obvious to anyone who isn't seeing through a red mist!) I have now fixed my issue pretty quickly.
Thanks for your patience glin - OAS and JDev together have in this past year have served me well and as you say are in general pretty straight forward to use. (My frustration was due to J2EE ClassLoaders, they always cause me some kind of headache somewhere!)
    Best Regards,
    Happy Holidays!

  • Pb with weblogic.log

To debug our application, we inserted many System.out.println() in our
servlets/jsp. The problem is that, whereas they appear in the
weblogic-launch-window, they don't in the weblogic.log file. Is there a
property to change in order to get these messages?

I am also lookign which log file "System.out.println's" are going to. Please give details as to what we need to do to see these messages and which log file to go to.
