WebLogic on Linux...

Hello,
I am interested in knowing the status of WebLogic on Linux. I've heard
there are some problems with multi-threading on Linux, limiting the
performance of WebLogic. Any truth to this?
Are many people using it?

visor,
Your classpath looks alright. Have you modified your weblogic.policy to
match your environment? Specifically the "grant CodeBase" stuff.
Also, so that there are no problems with permissions, I created a linux
account named 'weblogic' and installed WLS under the 'weblogic' account.
Who is the owner of /local1 and subdirectories?
Give me yell if u still have problems.

I am trying to use WebLogic 5.1 with RedHat Linux 6.1 (kernel = 2.2.12-10)
but unable to.
I have tried several different JVMs but to no success. Here is what I am
seeing. If you could let me know if this looks familiar to you I'd
appreciate it (btw, Blackdown JDK 1.2.2_FCS has native threads)

Any ideas Rob on when the Linux Performance Pack will be part of the
official WL distro? I am using the perf pack right now ... but remember
that possibly benign exception when garbage collecting (though it doesnt
seemt to affect WLS)

Some of the Linux JVMs are still using green threads. If you don't
require Java2, IBM's 118 for Linux is a pretty good JVM, and it uses
native threads.
Are many people using it?
I do not know how many people have deployed production WLS sites on
Linux.
Personally, I develop WLS on Linux, and it runs very well.

    Thanks because JDK 1.3 is not supported with WLS 5.1. See:
    http://www.weblogic.com/platforms/index.html
    However, WLS 6.0 supports JDK 1.3 since the JDK is already bundled with WLS
    6.0.

  • Where to download Weblogic for linux 64

    Hi,
    Can you please provide me with the link to download Weblogic for linux 64.
    Regards

    Hi ebitar,
    afaik, there is no version of WebLogic 10.3 that is just for 64-bit Linux. You would need to install a 64-bit JVM and then download the generic weblogic installer from http://download.oracle.com/otn/bea/weblogic/server103/server103_generic.jar (I.e. the link located under the HP column of the download page).
    Someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

  • Using native libraries in web application (weblogic on linux)

    I have a problem with loading native libraries for use with my web application. Where do I have to put them in order for the server to see them? The same app on windows runs perfectly fine, because it has no problems finding the dll files.
              So far I have tried modifying the weblogic startup scripts, to include the library in LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable. I've also tried modifying the security policy just in case, but I don't think it's the case, because like I said, the app ran fine on windows without messing with the policies. So, any ideas, how I could load the libraries?
              The system is a WebLogic 8.1SP4 installed on Linux i386 using JRockit JVM, the native library in question is JAI 1.1.3-alpha native acceleration library.
              PS. if it's in the wrong group, please direct me to the correct one.

  • Connecting to TimesTen using DataSource in WebLogic on Linux

    We are trying to use weblogic 9.2 to connect to TimesTen7.0, both are on Linux.
    We have installed Oracle 10g client and then installed TimesTen 7.0 Client on the Linux server hosting weblogic.
    Created Client DSN in /var/TimesTen/sys.odbc.ini file as follows:
    [ODBC Data Sources]
    TTclientMaster=TimesTen 7.0 Client Driver
    [TTclientMaster]
    TTC_SERVER="TTServerHostName"
    TTC_SERVER_DSN=TTmaster
    When we are trying to create DataSource in weblogic Admin console it does not show up TTClient Driver in the list.
    We tried setting up using "Others" for driver and databasetype but then it asks for databasename which we don't have since TT uses DSN.
    We are looking for any pointers or references that can explain how to configure weblogic to use TimesTen using TT 7.0 client DSN.

    If you have access to a copy of TimesTen 6.0 you can look in the AppServer Configuration Guide (appsrv.pdf) that was shipped with that release. This guide is currently being rewritten and so is not yet available for 7.0.
    If you can't get hold of a copy, e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send it to you.

  • Help! Unable to Start - weblogic.policy - (Linux) and WLS 5.1

    Does this hold true for NT as well? The comments in the weblogic.policy file read:
    // If WebLogic is not installed in a root directory, you must only
    // list the first component of the path in the "file:" URL. This is
    // because of a bug in JavaSoft JDK 1.2.1. For example, if you
    // install WebLogic in the "c:/test/weblogic" directory, the first
    // two lines below must be:
    // grant codeBase "file:/c:/test/-" {
    // permission java.io.FilePermission "c:${/}test${/}weblogic${/}-", "read,write,delete,execute";
    However, when I use the similar file structure:
    grant codeBase "file:/c:/bea/-" {
    permission java.io.FilePermission "c:${/}bea${/}wlserver6.0sp1${/}lib${/}-",
    "read,write,delete,execute";
    I receive the same error and WebLogic Server will not start up.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Access a dll file for an oracle adf app deployed on weblogic on linux box

    Hi:
    My department is trying to move an oracle adf application from oracle application server to weblogic 10.3 application server. After trying for a few weeks, everything looks fine except that the application is not able to access a dll file. For this adf application we use a dll file which is a C program to allow us to grab ip address and mac address for every user's computer for security reason. On our oracle application server on a linux box, everything is fine and the application is able to use access the dll fine. Technically, it is how the dll work. In our login.jspx, we declare a object:
    <OBJECT id="objMacAddr" height="0" width="0" classid="CLSID:D69161F0-C2BB-4212-9B67-62B908A07726" codebase="RMacAddress.dll#Version=1,0,0,1">
    when the user access our web application, the browser grab the dll file from the server while loading the page and a java script function in the page uses the dll file to grab the ip address and mac address for user's computer.
    It works on oracle application server. However, it does not work on Weblogic 10.3 server. Does anyone have similar experience? We have been told by oracle support that Weblogic 10.3 server does not recognize the dll file at all. One thing I don't understand is that both our oracle application and weblogic 10.3 are on linux box. Why dll works on oralce application server but not on weblogic 10.3 server? This issue has bothered us for quite a few weeks already. I just hope that anyone on this forum gives us some kind of hint or direction.
    Thanks,
    Jack

    Also,
    I checked the "monitoring" window of my datasource on weblogic server and saw that there are no failed database connections. So, the problem of a broken database connectivity can be ruled out.

  • How to start WebLogic in Linux?

    Could you tell me how to start WebLogic 5.1 in KDE?
    Best Regards,

    You need to open up a terminal session (Try xterm).
    Change the directory to wherever you installed Weblogic (/home/Weblogic/) or
    something along those lines. (cd is the command that you want)
    Run the scripts located in that directory as specified in the Unix
    documentation.
