How to call the webservice inside BPM?
How to do the wsdl file configuration/import and etc.

Hi Sara,
You have to do the configurations for wsdl in ID when u configure the communication channel.
There your BPM acts as a business service(sender/receiver).
As far as, mapping of the message structure is concerned you have to create a MM if required and tht is similar to a normal scenario.
In BPM u just have to insert tht mapping object in between the place holder interfaces.

Dear All,
A simple BRM ruleset is created and published as a webservice. The WSDL is available at NWA ->SOA Management-> Application and Scenario Communication-> Single Service Administration.
The webservice test in WSNAVIGATOR provides the expected results.
In the BPM process flow, an automated activity has been created for the webservice call. This activity contains the 'Service Interface' and 'Service Reference' of the imported WSDL.
Issue:
When the process is started, the BRM webservice call results in error. The error is not visible in the log but the process flow shows a green symbol on the automatic activity, thereby indicating that the webservice call does not end and the process remains in 'In progress' state.
Can you please provide your inputs?

Webservice call by BPM from XI

Hi all,
        I want to do a SOAP(WebService) to idoc scenario where the webservice should not invoke itself rather the webservice should be invoked by the XI.
The requirement is like this --
There should be a BPM that will poll for the Webservice data after a certain time.
Otherwise its a SOAP to idoc scenario.
Please give me suggestion on the BPM to be designed.

   In order to initiate the BPM use a file reciever.
   BPM design
    Recieve step(abstract asynchronous) for file
      Send step(abstract synchronous) for the web service call
       transformation step(mapping between web service response and Idoc)
   Send step(abstract asynchronous) for idoc

How to call a webservice proxy from BPM application?

Hi All,
Consider a case where I want to use external webservice in my BPM application. What is the best approach to achieve this.
1) What if I create a web service proxy and wants to use in the BPM app. How can I use this?
2) Which component do I need to use "Web Service" component or "Third Party Adapter" component from the component pallette?
3) If I use directly the wsdl in the "Web Service" component will it cause any issues in the future.
I searched in the net and the docs, but it didnt find the proper solutions for this.
Please provide your comments on this.

First of all a java proxy would not help much here - there is no use for that in SOA suite especially when it comes to using the JCA adapters. Instead reference the WSDL directly in SOA suite but there is a caveat - see my response below

Yes there are lots of issues referencing a WSDL directly. Instead upload the WSDL reference to SOA-MDS and then use the oramds:// reference to the WSDL. This will ensure the composite does not break when the WSDL is not available. JDeveloper also goes into a tizzy when the WSDL is not up.

Regarding Connection Time Out issue in Webservice call to database.

All the webservices are configured corectly in External Resources of Process Administrator. Now, the issue is that whenever we are trying to execute the service with good amount of load on OBPM Process Admin Engine, it is throwing the following exception-
"Exception:java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect"
We are unable to find the root cause of the issue as the webservices call is still throwing the above exception.
Please provide some resolution as soon as possible.

Just to be sure, we're talking about a client process in BPM accessing an ILOG web service or a DB web service, right? Is this DB web service something custom built?
Be aware that certain things can run inside the workspace and not the engine. You almost have to work at making this happen. The easiest way is to make this happen is to invoke a BPM object method from within a BPM object presentation or JSP. If you do have this situation open the BPM object method and click on properties and check the box run on server side.
I can't think of anything that wouldn't scale for connections to Web Services in an engine. I'd be looking at tuning your ILog Web services. Perhaps it can't keep up and the engine gets a timeout. How often does this happen? The engine should retry the automatic until is works. But it tries 3 or so times, it gives up. This retry is configurable.

Scenario: MATMAS request inside BPM

HI,
we are using the following scenario: BOMMAT IDOC -> XI BPM -> lot of MATMAS IDOCs.
I have to check a materialnumber in the SAP R/3 Applikation System(Sender) for a special Item inside the BPM.
Exampel:
The BOMMAT IDoc is filled with materialnumber 119911. Now i have to get (either outside or inside the BPM) maybe via RFC ? special information about this item from the R/3 sender system (not XI). With this information i can go ahead inside the BPM transformation.
Any ideas/scenarious ?

You can go for either RFC Lookups where you will be sending a MATMAS request to R3 system and it will response the details from R3 system or you can go for the scenario like IDOC-> RFC request and RFC response-> IDOC

Web Service call to BPM to call another Web Service - all synch

HI all,
I have a webservice call to GetDocument from external system. In BPM I like to call another ws (SearchDocument) to retrieve metadata, which I need to complete the first GetDocument webservice. All synch if possible.
Any idea how to achieve this with (or mayby without) BPM ??

My first WS call is to get a document..but because I need to add some metadata in order to have a succesful call I need to call another WS first to the same system to get the required metadata. Then I need to use this metadata to complete the first - GetDocument- call....
Hope this clarifies the scenario...
Is it maybe possible to do this another way..in sequence..using response data to populate another ws call ??

BPM process calling another BPM process synchronously

Hi,
When have a BPM (SCENARIO_1) that receives a request.
The BPM makes a SYNC call to another BPM (SCENARIO_2_SYNC_SEND). The second BPM should return the sync response to the first BPM. The second BPM has been implemented as a SYNC/ASYNC bridge. .........This scenario is NOT working.
We have independently tested the second BPM and can confirm that it works correctly and as expected when it is NOT called by another BPM.
design steps of BPM
1. BPM (SCENARIO_1)
           start -> receive(async) - >send(sync - calls 2nd BPM) -> stop
2. BPM (SCENARIO_2_SYNC_SEND). (this BPM is invoked by first BPM (SCENARIO_1)
            start ->receive(sync -open SA bridge) ->send(sync - calls webService) ->send(closes SA bridge)
Is SAP PI supports synchronous call from one BPM to another BPM???

we also done the BPM calling another BPM asynchronousl;y, which is working fine.
In this case, I designed BPM like follows (as initially mentioned)
1. BPM (SCENARIO_1)
start -> receive(async) - >send(sync - calls 2nd BPM) -> stop
Note : In 'send' step, I selected 'Create New Transaction'.......if I don't select this property then system dumping without invoking the second BPM, When I select this property the second BPM is invoked after the 1st BPM completes i.e it waits for CHECK_FOR_ASYNC_RESPONSE_TIMEOUT (default value 60 secs) to elapse. during this time an entry in the outbound queue (smq2) appears
2. BPM (SCENARIO_2_SYNC_SEND). (this BPM is invoked by first BPM (SCENARIO_1)
start ->receive(sync -open SA bridge) ->send(sync - calls webService) ->send(closes SA bridge)
how do we check whether it using more than one queue??
we have only looked at smq1 & smq2.
We see an entry in SMQ2 which stays there for the timeout period of the first BPM.
It seems as if the second bpm doesnt see it until the first BPM closes.
I might think this is appropriate behaviour to stop the engine processing the same message more than once which would explain the behaviour we are seeing. However this would mean PI would not support BPM synchronously calling BPM which is what we are trying to determine if it is supported.
We cant find any documentation saying this is possible and alot of documentation indicates workarounds.
Have you ever seen this scenario implemented.

There is no problem in getting the response from webservice, the problem is the BPM which calls webservice itself invoked after the timeout of first BPM.

Webservice call to IDOC can be synchronous ?

Hi Friends ,
I would like to use XI exposed Webservice Call to SO create IDOC.Can we get the response as SO Number . As i know that IDOC is asynchronous but is there anyother way to make in synchronous ?
I have tried with BAPI it is working fine . But we need to work with IDOC as synchronus . Any input will be appreciated .

hi,
you can check the idoc creation and acknowledgments using Ale audit.
You have to use bpm for your scenario Since Idocs are always Asynchronous.

Third Party WebService call: SOAP Lookup vs SOAP Adapter Scenario.

Hello Experts,
What are the pros and cons of using SOAP Look up in Message Mapping for webService call.
Previously my scenario was a standard SOAP Adapter Scenario. But it had BPM, so I have designed it via SOAP look up in Message Map to avoid BPM.
I want to know what are the merits and demerits (In terms of Performance - Payload size:Runtime, Maintanence, Configurability,etc) of using SOAP Look up instead of standard SOAP Scenario.

SOAP Look-ups are very much possible and performance wise also its preferrable as compare to BPM.
Its pretty much simple and easy way to handle it with UDFs.
The performance could also depend upon what kind of things you need to achive or replacing with BPM.
If you will be dealing with too many resources in BPM then that creates the performance overloaded issues.
UDFs also have the performance problems nased on the payload size but very minimal.

Endeca webservice call from different Application.

I am trying to call the Endeca (v2.2.2) Webservice, using the client generated class file from the wsdl file (conversation.wsdl) and pass the query to get the result. Steps so far did
•     Use apache cxf codegen plugin 2.7.0 to generate the client classes using the above wsdl.
•     Written junit test case for client class and send the query to server. I can connect to the server but getting back the ConversationFault: Sequence has length 0 but must have length 1
•     The only method I can use to call from the client is conversationPort.query(request), which is generated by cxf wd12java
•     Following is the line of code from the client class

Webservice call from PCo; FaultException: Authorization fail

Hi,
I am making a ME Webservice call from PCo.
I have configured Destination System, added a service in Configuration tab.
Using 'Test request message', i tested the call with all required inputs, the object is created in ME system.
When the same service is triggered from PLC > PCo, the call fails and i see the following message in Log tab.
UserName/password is correct..
All the required systems are running.
Log:

Hello Shridhar, I guess you can use use different user for authentication and user data inside XML request.
In MII, I have used MESYS for authentication and other user name inside the request XML. But you need to make sure user name inside XML has ME_Integrator role.
