WebService - RFC - WebService Scenario

Hello All,
I have the following scenario:
An external program wants to send customer data to R/3. in R/3 I have to run an RFC that creates a customer with this data and return the new customer number back to the external program. The external program will be using a web service for communicating. I have done a lot of XI but never Web Service.
1. Can I do this synchronously without BPM or do I need a "proxy" RFC for the response?
2. I guess I have to prepare a wsdl with the "define web service" tool in the integration builder. What do I do with this file? Do I have to deploy it? where? how?
3. If I can do it synchronously with RFC, do I need to define a message interface for the RFC?
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Yoni

Hi Yoni,
1. Can I do this synchronously without BPM or do I need a "proxy" RFC for the response?
Yes, you dont need BPM
2. I guess I have to prepare a wsdl with the "define web service" tool in the integration builder. What do I do with this file? Do I have to deploy it? where? how?
Import WSDL from WebService or create an outbound interface
3. If I can do it synchronously with RFC, do I need to define a message interface for the RFC?
No, you can import the RFC from R/3. It will be used as inbound interface.

Udo

  • Webservice to webservice scenario

    Dear Experts,
    Could you please help me in solving the below queries
    In SOAP TO SOAP Scenario Sender is one WSDL and Receiver is another WSDL,after completing Scenario we can generate a WSDL from XI Configuration->Define Webservices, if we test the WSDL then only the Data is getting transferred from Sender to Reciever.
    Queries
    My question is Without using XI System generated WSDL is there any way to trigger the Sender to send the data to Reciever
    Another query is if it is Possible only with XI WSDL then how to trigger the Sender (SAP and NON-SAP)

    I am not sure whether i get your question but Altova xml spy is a xmlpath and webservice tool which allows you to generate soap requests from your machine-
    follow the webservice to webservice tutorial at saptechnical
    The way it works is that the external webservice which is trying to access data from sap must connect to the xi webservice first, this service will have importing params and exporting params-
    external soap request -> Xi soap--> rfc/webservice of function module
    and then in return its vice versa- so your xi works as a middleware, it receives the request from external systems etc- and forwards it, it is not generating anything on its own-
    this is for the scenario where an external system needs to start the event and get something back- synchronous
    Now the case is when you wish to generate the starter event within sap- the starter event would be triggered through SPROXY- create  a rfc or etc and then generate the wsdl for it- Not create the define web service from the utilities within the repository-
    Sproxy allows you start the event and is based on the http adapter- alternatively like i said, you would have to use the webservice creation from utilities within SE37-I hope that clears up your question?

  • Error after import external webservice(RFC) wsdl url to Process Composer

    Hi all,
    I try to use RFC webservice in my BPM as below:
    1. Expose RFC as webservice using CAF (import external service RFC and then create application service use this external service)
    2. Define Destination in NWA.
    3. Create a Process Composer project, and import the external webservice(RFC) wsdl file as service interface in the project.
    After importing, i get error : the port type specified for the ...binding is undefined. Check port type name and ensure it is defined.
    If i import another external service, not RFC (such as business object), there is no error.
    My system is NWCE 7.11

    Hi,
    I agree with Ganesh. Try to use SOAP UI to call your service URL to see if it's working.
    You can find a tool called TCPGateway in the attachment section of the SOAP Adapter FAQ note 856597. Please see tcpgw.zip for more details. Use it on Client side to see the complete HTTP response from PI for more info. If it does not help, try to compare your HTTP request and request generated by SOAP UI if they are created the same way. Especially HTTP header parameters like Content-Type.
    Let us know if you find the problem.

  • Need help in webservice to JDBC scenario

    Hi All,
    My scenario is a synchronous webservice to JDBC scenario. The SOAP request contains two fields one is ID & the other field is Date which is an optional field. I need to perform a SELECT statement on JDBC based on ID & Date. SOAP request will always contain ID field & Date may or maynot be there in the request. If Date present then search should be based on ID & Date , if Date not present search should be based on ID only. How to achieve this with the help of standard JDBC reciever structure or is there any other way to achieve this?
    Thanks
    Navin

    You can create your target structure as shown below and check the existence of DATE field in the source(using standard function "Exists" ) and then only create the target DATE node.
    <StatementName>
              <dbTableName action=u201DSELECTu201D>

  • How To Develop a Simple WebService App XI Scenarios

    Hi,
    How can I develop A simple Webservice for any scenario, for example, if am doing File to file scenario, and i want to develop a Webservice for the same scenario,
    I think in ID we have an option Under Tools "Define Webservice" where in we can use wsdl format of the message interfaces.
    How should i proceed to develop the Webservice?
    Regards,
    Varun

    Hi Varun,
    After creating the wsdl file u can deploy using MS visual studio.
    Follow the steps and run the scenario.
    use it in a Client Program in .NET : (assuming Maths as the WSDL and Webserice name)
    1.) Place maths.wsdl in C:/Sample/ folder
    2.) Open Visual studio command prompt using the Start Menu
            Start->Programs->Microsoft Visual Studio 2005->Visual Studio Tools->Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt
    3.) In the Command prompt go to that directory
        > C:
        > CD\
        > CD Sample
        > wsdl maths.wsdl /out:"c:\sample"
    4.) The previous step will create a file called Maths.cs , go to that folder and confirm this
    5.) Open Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, open the Client application where this webservice needs to be called
    6.) If your Client application is a web application, the see if the website has a folder called "App_Code"
        If not then create this folder. Right Click on this folder and click on "Add Existing Item"
    7.) Browse to C:/sample and select the Maths.cs file
    8.) If your client is a Desktop application , just add this file in a similar manner to the project(no need of creating any folder)
    9.) After the file gets added, open Maths.cs file
    10.) Add a namespace to it for convinience
            eg:
                namespace SAP
       This should come before the Class Declaration and close it after the class
        eg: See the red lines
        namespace SAP
        /// <remarks/>
        [System.CodeDom.Compiler.GeneratedCodeAttribute("wsdl", "2.0.50727.42")]
        [System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThroughAttribute()]
        [System.ComponentModel.DesignerCategoryAttribute("code")]
        [System.Web.Services.WebServiceBindingAttribute(Name = "Equi_get_NotifBinding", Namespace = "http://Equipment_Get_Notifications")]
        public partial class Equi_get_NotifService : System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol
          functions....
    11.) Save the Maths.cs file
    12.) Open the Webform or windows form code where this webserive will be called
    13.) The webservice will now be available here under the SAP namespace
            so when u type "SAP." u will get all the classes in it.
            Add credential in this code as shown below
        eg:
        private void GetNotifications()
            try
                SAP.Equi_get_NotifService ser1 = new SAP.Equi_get_NotifService();       //This is the Webserive Proxy class
                SAP.Equi_get_Notif_Request req = new SAP.Equi_get_Notif_Request();      //Request Class
                req.Equipment = SAPID;
                req.Date = Calendar1.SelectedDate;
                System.Net.CredentialCache ch = new System.Net.CredentialCache();                                    //Adding Credentials for authentication on webservice server
                System.Net.NetworkCredential cr = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("xisuper", "infotech");
                ch.Add(new Uri(ser1.Url), "Basic", cr);
                ser1.Credentials = ch;                // Assing this Credential to the ProxyClass.Credentials property as shown here
                SAP.Equi_get_Notif_ResponseNotifications[] res = ser1.Equi_get_Notif(req);        //Call the webservice, res is the responce object
                GridView1.DataSource = res;
                GridView1.DataBind();
            catch (Exception ex)
                Response.Write(ex.Message);

    Is it possible to consume an RFC webservice in NWDS 7.0.9. Please provide me with the steps for the same.

    Runtime server local path should be:
    /usr/sap/EDH/JC04/j2ee/ -- if your WSDL is saved in a local path with only one folder say /wsdl/ then the WSDL should be located there as well as what the tutorial is said. So, in this case it should be:

  • Two way Asynchronous business process for Webservice to JDBC scenario

    Hi Experts,
    For the webservice to JDBC scenario, I have to use two way Asynchronous business process. Is it possible?
    Scenario : Webservice to JDBC -> Async Call
    JDBC to Webservice -> Async Call
    I have already done with two way Synchronous. Here I would like to know about only Async call. Please provide your suggestions.
    Is it recommended to use Async call when we have Synchronous option?
    For the above requirement I have to create two separate services and in BPM, I have to call one by one..Is it correct?
    Regards
    Sara
    Edited by: Sara D on Dec 18, 2007 8:05 AM

    hi sara,
    yes it is possible.
    In receiver channel JDBC we have a special parameter "Exactly Once Handling " which is to assure async incoming data to be written only once to avoid redundancy.
    Although Synchronous is "Best Effort" but it is considered to be "Worst Case". We can use Sync but try to use Async as much as possible to ensure system performance.
    Ques : For the above requirement I have to create two separate services and in BPM, I have to call one by one..Is it correct?
    yup you have to create two services and you are following right path but this scenario should be in two steps seperately.

  • Webservice - RFC

    Hello,
    I would like to establish a web service that is able to call the RFC BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 and send back the created DIS number. How have to look the integration process like?
    I created a file->rfc->file process with a integration process like :
    Receiver : async (from source file)
    Sender :   synchronous (to rfc and back)
    Sender :   async (to destination file)
    But how to for the Webservice -> RFC process? Like this:
    receiver : synchronous (from web service and back)
    sender   : synchronous (to rfc and back)
    Is this correct? Or must the receiver be asynchronous?
    If so, do I have to include an additional sender step at the end??
    Thanks

    Once again a inventory:
    Design:

    Message-Types:
    MT_Input - takes information from webservice
    MT_output- repsonse from bapi to webservice
    message-interface
    MI_RFC_CALL_SYNC_OUT - outbound for webservice
    do I need a second one here?
    Message-Mapping
    Webservice_to_RFC - maps infos from MT_input message to bapi
    RFC_to_Webservice - maps bapi.response to MT_output
    Interface-Mapping
    IM_Webservice_RFC - maps request and response
    RFC:
    BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 - imported BAPI
    Config:
    ========
    communication channel
    Send_SOAP - input for soap messages
    receiver_RFC - for connection with SAP
    Do I forget anything? With this I got a checked
    flag, but no document is created.
    Could it be that the original BAPI only runs test mode
    and I need a wrapper to execute it?????
    thanks

  • What are all the advantages of JDBC, RFC, WebService Lookups

    Hi Friends,
    Please tell me advantages and Disadvantages of JDBC, RFC, Webservice Lookups.
    Thanks in Advancs.

    Example: PI 7.1 comes with JDBC and RFC Lookup.  During mapping we might have requirement to do validation or create logic based on the reference values in the table or SAP backend.  In this standpoint, we do JDBC and RFC Lookup. Earlier, we used to do coding in UDF or java mapping to achieve this. Now, we have it as a lookup graphical function.
    Webservice Lookup is again the same idea. but we dont have lookup graphical function. We still need to do UDF coding to achieve this.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/44/749dd812dd3676e10000000a114a6b/content.htm
    /people/jin.shin/blog/2008/02/15/sap-pi-71-mapping-enhancements-series-graphical-support-for-jdbc-and-rfc-lookups
    Disadvantage:
    If your soap message is larger size, dont do webservice lookup in UDF coding. It has maintanence issues.
    Parameterized mapping along with Integrated configuration is not currently possibe both in PI 7.1 and EHP1.
