Website content dynamically?

I have my first client and am offering my services for free
since I need the experience, but don’t want to get stuck
having to update or maintain the site for him. So I want to build a
site where his product images and text can be easily updated by the
client simply by editing a text doc or replacing an image file. I
am guessing that the way to do this is to have the text and images
as dynamic instead of static. The problem is I have not done a
dynamic website before. So what is the easiest method to build such
a site? My other problem is my server does not allow for php or
anything unless I upgrade, so I am thinking I will need to
upgrade.

How to make my Flash content dynamic in HTML5 output?

Is it possible for an AIR application to get the content dynamically from server in Android?

To give you people the context we will be developing Hybrid application using HTML5 and PhoneGap which will be published on Android and iOS platforms.
I want to know if an AIR application in android can get the content dynamically from the server. If yes, then how part comes into picture?

Yes, an AIR app on android (or iOS) can communicate with a server in several ways.

I was thinking of buying the WD MyCloud box and your words of wisedom inspired me to take a risk, getting one of these for myself. It's always a gamble buying new technology bits and hoping it will do, what you expect it to do.
First thing I did was connect the WD MyCloud to my network (entrirely 1 Gb network capable ports - including router).I updated the firmware to the latest via the network connection, which was reasonably quick to update.
Everything worked perfectly, straight from go, the 3 Tb of data I had on my former Seagate GoFlex (manually connected to a SATA port on my P.C) only took a few hours to completely copy across. I tried transferring the wholelot across via the Seagate GoFlex 100mB/s ethernet port, but that was horrendously slow.
I loved the way I could get access to this device, via the internet, (wd2go.com) to the files stored on my WD MyCloud (at home). It indeed acted as a "Cloud" device for me as I could map the connection to a network drive on my P.C and then
copy files across to my P.C (wherever I am) - Just drag and drop from explorer and it's pretty quick to transfer across as well.
I just wanted to say this box is fanatastic and I am very happy with it. I know there have been a few critics out therewho haven't had good things to say, but I think they need to make sure everything fits the criteria for successful results,
which this device is well capable of producing. I had the experience of using a Seagate GoFlex device and that took a while before I got things working reasonably
well for me. It's good to have a device that now well exceeds the capability of this former device.
Very happy with this WD MyCloud and my experiences with it.

WPC / Show iViews in Website Content ROLE Based?

Hi,
i have a Question. Is it possible to show on a Website Content on Role based Design?
What i want is:
Create a Website with Content and iViews (URL to goole e.g.)
When a user opens the Site over the Navigation i want that a user that has the Role "google" see the google Startsite in that Website. If the User have NO Google Role.. he should not see the iview in the Content Area..
Is this possible?

Since the anonymous user is not having any roles , the internal content can not be accessed. There are many restrictions for anonymous users .

I need to include Adobe Acrobat converter - whether it's an add-on or plugin - so that I could convert the website content to PDF.

On Internet Explorer, there is an Adobe Acrobat icon which would allow the website's content to be converted to a PDF document. While I tried to import all features from IE to Firefox, that feature did not appear. That is so important to me that despite all advantages of Firefox I had to go back to IE.

I don't know whether anyone has created a PDF button for Firefox. What I do is print to PDF. After using Preview to confirm that it will fit, I print to a PDF printer driver. If you have Adobe Acrobat installed, this may show up among your printers as Distiller.
If you don't have Adobe Acrobat, there are a number of third party PDF printer drivers (free and paid) to choose from.

Is it possible to move/copy my website content to a new template?

I only learned the basic of Dreamweaver back in 2005, having completed a course in Dreamweaver MX 2004. This was the only way I knew of designing websites, so I created my first website using tables without using pre-designed templates or CSS. As a result, my site is NOT user friendly and is difficult to navigate for most visitors. I would like to copy all my contant to a new pre-designed template without all the major painstaking hassle of going through it to make fixing links, anchors etc. Are there any easy options? First, thoroughly read the F1 Help Section on DW Templates to understand how they work.
In a nutshell, you would:
Put your sitewide headers, footers, navigation and links to external CSS into your main Template.dwt file.
Add Editable Regions for content that will change from page to page.
Preview template in browsers.
Validate your code & fix reported errors.
CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
HTML - http://validator.w3.org/
When you're completely satisfied with your template, Save and Close Template.
Go to File > New page from Template & hit Create.
Save this child page as index.html.
Repeat steps 6 & 7 for all other site pages.
Open your Template and add links to your navigation menu.
Save Template and populate changes to child pages.
Upload child pages to your server.
Repeat steps 10 & 11 each time you make changes to your main Template.

Website content not showing correctly (as in preview).

I have just set my website live but noticed that it is not sclaing to fit the content corectly in the browser window (as it is showing correctly in my Muse preview). I am using business catalyst to host. It is as if the content is being stretched further past the browser limit then it needs to. I have struggled to get my content to fit to 100% width so I finally got some adobe chat help last night and the guy told me to load my background image directly into the browser and set it "to fill". In preview it looks and fits perfectly, but once it is published to BC the image is distorted and stretched out and some of the content it missing e.g. the copyright disclaimer I have at the bottom of each page.

Are you sure you uploaded to the correct directory?
Usually, you need a root directory set to something like docs, public, webs or the like.
If your root folder is empty on your Remote Server Settings, you may have uploaded it to the directory level above your actual site root.
On the opposite side of that coin, if you have a folder within your local site folder that has the same name as your root directory, you would have one too many directories. Your root folder locally can have any name and is not actually uploaded, you just transfer contents of your local root to your server root. So if you have a public (or any other name) folder within your local site folder and uploaded, your site would be at www.yoursite.com/rootfolder rather than www.yoursite.com
EDIT: There are other possibilities too, could you post a link to your site so we can take a look?

Flash Websites - content panel

Hi There
I am new to flash and am looking for a tutorial which will help me create a specific end product. I am trying to make a flash website (which i have the designs for) which will have links down the right hand side, but when the link is clicked a content panel apears in the middle of the screen with the correct text in it and maybe a link to download a PDF, there will be a few links down the right hand of the screen and therefore different content for each link. the site will only consit of 1 page and the only thing which will change is this content panel which is centralised.
Any help would be very appreciated.

I don't know of any specific tutorials for what you want to build, but it sounds like you should be able to create each section as a movieclip and use the buttons to make the current section invisible and the called section visible. What you might try doing to get started is to use Google and search for code related to whatever version of actionscript you'll be using in terms of making buttons work.

head content & dynamic metadata with APEX?

Most government and public sector work now mandates the inclusion of various forms of metadata located in the page header, such as [Dublin Core|http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc5013.txt], keywords and PICS information. Usually this information is included as name/value pairs using [<meta>|http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/global.html#h-7.4.4.2] elements.
I wondered what techniques are being used in APEX to inject this (and other) information into the page header, when it needs to be determined dynamically from parameter values and retrieved from the database?
In a recent Oracle Portal project this proved less straightforward than hoped. Convinced things would prove easier in APEX I've considered 3 approaches so far:
1. If the elements are fixed for the page, the metadata elements can of course simply be typed into the page HTML Header (why doesn't Portal have this?!)
2. With a small number of fixed elements with dynamic content, include e.g. <meta name="keywords" value="&KEYWORDS." /> elements in the HTML Header or page template header, and generate the substitution value using application items and computations.
3. For a variable number of elements or other more complex scenarios, move the </head> tag into the page template body ([still find the division of the page template definition baffling|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1289074&#1289074]) and put a region position placeholder (e.g. #REGION_POSITION_04#) before </head>. A template-less PL/SQL Dynamic Content region can now be set at this display point to call whatever PL/SQL is necessary to inject elements using htp.meta or htp.p.

Just discovered #REGION_POSITION_04# is substituted in the page definition header area. Said I found that confusing...

I am used to do that all the time at www.spesadove.it where i generate the title, the page description, the keywords basing on the content of certain database tables. See an example here:

In short, i set the value of certain items in before header computations, then i retrieve the value inside meta tags by using substitution strings like &P0_KEYWORDS. or &P0_TITLE.

Website content does not display in browser

On the BlackBerry 9630 web browser users are no longer able to view content in our internal website. After browsing to the website they only get the background and a small image along the top then no more content displays. If I view the html source all the content exists, it just doesn't show. This site was working without a problem a few weeks ago and the website hasn't changed in months.
I've tried clearing the cache, tried it on a new install, multiple users. Deployed the website to a test web server with similar settings. Always the same thing. Note that if I load this up using the smartphone simulator I have no problems.
This website uses window integrated authentication, master pages, and Microsoft's Ajax.
If I make a page that has content outside of an ajax updated area the content outside of the ajax panel but the content inside the panel or in the Telerik "ajaxified" content is invisible.
I need this to work, where can I go from here?
Edit: Now it's different, maybe tested wrong. No content shows up on my test page if I add an ajaxpanel to part of it but everything exists if I view source. Same behavior in simulator but works fine in standard browsers. Main website still works fine in simulator though.

Works fine here in Windows 7 IE9.
There are two tiny errors in the html (stray </p> and </a> tags) but they shouldn't break it.
Are you sure it isn't a caching issue?
In IE9, hit F12 then Ctrl + R then Yes and refresh the page.

IE Active Content + Dynamically Loaded Swfs...any help?

I've recently become aware of the whole IE active content
problem and I followed the tutorial at

to adjust my html files accordingly. However I have one site

which loads several swfs dynamically. However in IE none of the
swfs will start loading until you click on one of the markers
which, unfortunately locks the user into a zoomed in view with no
way of exiting until the external file finishes loading. Can anyone
provide any suggestion on how I can get around this? Should I load
the clips in a different fashion or can it be resolved by adding
something to the HTML? I'm a recent grad trying to finish up my
portfolio and this is really holding me back. Many thanks for any
suggestions.

Existing website content

I have made a website (in a program called Coffeecup, basically a standard HTML editor) some time ago on my Windows PC. That site is comfortabley hosted on a UNIX server. I now works with a MAC and need to work on it again. i do not want to use Windows on my MAC anymore, because I want to become a MAC-Man. Can I simply get this website in my iWEB to work on it with that and use some kind of content management from within IWEB and how do I import the file in iWEB. Everytime I start iWEB it keeps offering me the templates as it assumes I have not made a site yet.....

iWeb cannot import any site so you will have to re-build your site in iWeb if you want to use it without running Windows on your Mac.

Being redirected to random websites/content not permitted in my post!

First things first - when I tried to post this query I got a message saying that I had included content which was not permitted. I'm wondering if it's to do with my overall problem which is that I have managed to pick up some kind of virus (I know Macs aren't supposed to get viruses but it's the only word I can think of) that's redirecting me to random websites - but not just when I'm in Safari/Firefox, when I'm in the middle of inserting information into a post, or anything online. For example, when I had to select a category below for the query, I ended up being directed to the Mackeeper site!
So something has got hold of my ability to access websites. I tried clearing the cache but that didn't make any difference. I then looked up how to clear the DNS cache and tried that, but with no luck.
I'm tearing my hair out now, so any help would be appreciated.
In case I can't update info below, I'm running Yosemite on a MacAir and use Safari as my main browser but as the problem also occurred in Firefox I'm guessing it's deeper than just cookies!
