WebSphere to Sap Enterprice portal high level motivational sheets

Hello,
at my current employer, we are using websphere portal, we have a lot of webapplications which are programmed in dotnet, java etc. and we wan't to convince higher management that SAP Enterprice Portal is THE way to go.
For this we need some simple sheets that illustrate how the portal system treets and attaches the applications under the portal system.
I searched on the sdn pages but wasn't able to find something like this.
Anyone got some information:
- where to get this kind of sheets on Sap help/sdn
- has some sheets about this topic
- pointers into setting up something like this
thanks in advance, points will be rewarded for helpfull answers!

Hi,
U can check with SAP .NET technologies from https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/netweaver-forums page. Search for any relevant information there.

    Hi to all gurus,
How SAP diffrentiates between high level user and low level users?? I mean if the licences are for 25 high level user and 50 lowevel users, than how SAP will categorize the high level and low level user licenses?? Is there anyway where BASIS person has to specify??

Ask your SAP Account Manager, he will be happy to explain it for you.

  • SAP Netweaver Portal - Folder structure and report publishing strategy

    Hi gurus,
I'm working on a project in which we are publishing BW reports in SAP Netweaver Portal (prior to this, we were using SAP Bex Browser) organizing it by Department (workset, 2nd lvl of navigation), Business Processes (workset, 3rd lvl of navigation) and "iview types" (transactions, queries, dashboards and so on). On 1st level we have a workset simply called "Reports".
For each PFCG role we have on BW (ABAP Server), we created a portal role and defined which of the higher navigation tiers is visible to users (delta-linking the top level navigation worksets to the portal role and setting visible accordingly) and then we assigned Portal roles to the appropriated Group (PFCG role) so all users that have access to certain PFCG role can have access to the corresponding Portal role.
    For example:
In BW (ABAP) we have a PFCG Role: Sales PMR Analysis - Administrator, which grants access to Sales Infoproviders, queries and data for PMR analysis. The user that have access to it, should be able to see:
    |Reports|
    |Sales Administration|
    v PMR Analysis
      > Web Queries
      > Transactions
      > Dashboards
      > Workbooks
In Portal we create a workset that has: "Reports" and under it, all Departments (Sales Administration, Financial, Services, Human Resources and so on) set as "not visible". We create a Portal role called PMR Analysis and add the Report/Departments workset, set Sales Administration as visible and add worksets/folders named PMR Analysis, Web queries, Transactions, etc, and all the corresponding iviews under it.
If we assign this new Portal role to the Group of the corresponding PFCG role, the user will see exactly as the example from above.
Pros: The users have a clean view of the reports he/she has access.
Cons: The users doesn't have a clear view of what is available in BW so he can request access. There might be some useful report lost in on of the hundreds of BW roles that he doesn't know it exist.
One of the options would be to grant visibility to ALL departments, business processes and iviews in Portal and let PFCG security roles control user access, but that might be confusing to have an overwhelming amount of links, making it hard to find what the user needs, specially during first access. Not to mention possible security breaches.
So, I'd like to know how other consultants are defining this kind of folder structure and report publishing strategy in Portal. Ideally we would like to be able to have:
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
I'd appreciate if you guys can share your experience on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Leandro

Cons: The users doesn't have a clear view of what is available in BW so he can request access. There might be some useful report lost in on of the hundreds of BW roles that he doesn't know it exist
This is not a refutation: your BW developers/consultants should be able to write reports, which points you in case of insufficent backend rights. EP is not designed to be familiar with ABAP security concept and cant take any influence at it.
One of the options would be to grant visibility to ALL departments, business processes and iviews in Portal and let PFCG security roles control user access, but that might be confusing to have an overwhelming amount of links, making it hard to find what the user needs, specially during first access. Yes, bad idea.
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
As you already wrote on your own, this would be not good
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
This is not covered by SAP, if you wanna provide that, develop it on your own.

  • VERY URGENT: Issue with Reconciliation against SAP Enterprise Portal

    Hi,
We are using IDM7.0 and we have SAP Enterprise Portal as a resource. The users in portal are from Active Directory.
When I am doing full reconciliation against portal, it is processing only certain accounts. The reconcilaition policy is to link accounts. It is not linking teh accounts. Moreover, these accounts are not found in UNMATCHED accounts also. I don't have any account exclusion rules or something.
I wrote a small code snippet, which does just a single account reconciliation of a particular user id. In this case the portal account is being reconciled and linked properly.
Any ideas what the issue might be?
And I have another question too.. in the schema attributes of the out-of-box SAP Portal resource adapter, I don't see any ammping entry for "accountId". Usually for other resource adapters there would be entry for accountId (e.g in AD, mapping is: accountId <---> sAMAccountName). In case of portal, do we need to explicitly set this mapping? If so what would be the right hand side name in the schema? Does the right hand side name changes from one deployment to the other? If so how to determine what attribute maps to accountId in our portal? Might this lack of accountId is causing the issue with the reconciliation?
Any leads would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    kIDMan.

Thanks for the reply. I have already set up correlation rule, account linking options for different situations like FOUND, UNASSIGNED, UNMATACHED etc. If my linking configurtaion is not correct then the fetched accounts should be atleast in the account index with situation as UNMATCHED. But that is not the case.
I am not sure if I made my problem difinition clear earlier. The problem I mentioned is not with "linking" of the accounts. The problem is IDM is detecting only some accounts. Among those set of accounts which IDM was able to fetch from portal during reconcilaition, it was able to successfully link the matching accounts to identities in IDM.
My question is, why IDM is fetching only certain accounts and not all accounts from portal resource.
As I mentioned earlier, when I run my code snippet to reconcile a single account, it reconciles successfully and links to user identity in IDM (if a matching idenity exists based on my correlation rule). But why the reconcilaition at the resource level is not able to fetch and reconcile teh same account.
Regarding the accountId attribute in the attribute schema, neither the SUN documentation nor the resource adapter configuration tells about the name of the attribute on the portal side that it should match to.
    Thanks,
    kIDMan.

  • How to Set Up SSO Between IBM WebSphere and SAP EP Using JAAS

    Hi
I have read the article on SDN called "How to Set Up SSO Between IBM WebSphere and SAP EP Using JAAS", which is also the name of my posting.
The reason why I post this is that I've tried to follow the links in the PDF to get the file WebsphereEpSsoLib.zip but I get an error 403, which tells me that the file is not there.
Does anybody know where this file went or can somebody tell me an alternative place to get this file?

  • Assign a Position in CRM to an Organization Unit at a higher level.

    Hi,
While configuring the Organizational Management in CRM 5.1, I have copied the sales areas created in ECC to CRM.
The resulting structure is a freely definable Org Unit at the top level called Sales Area (as is was created in ECC) and under that all the Sales Organizations are existing.
I need to create positions for the Sales Organizations and assign employees to these positions created.
As per our client requirement, I need to create the positions at the higher level (probably the Org unit level) and assign the employees to these positions created.
The reason for doing this is that the same employees work across different Sales Orgs.
Is it possible to create the positions at the highest level so that they can be inherited by the Sales Orgs defined below or do i need to create the positions and the employees separately for each Sales Org.
I would appreciate if you could answer at the earliest. I need to complete the configuration at the earliest.
    warm regards,
    Rohan Bhate

  • Upgrade SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0 to 7.3 - Custom coding

    Dear all,
we would like to upgrade an existing SAP NW Portal 7.0 to the latest version 7.3. The current installation contains a number of custom coded portal and Web Dynpro applications. As far as I understand SAP's upgrade guides, documents and notes:
    - Web Dynpro applications of NW 7.0 are source compatible to version 7.3 but not binary compatible and thus need to be manually migrated to the new platform. The manual migration consists of an import of the respective artifacts (DCs) to NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.3 in order to rebuild, re-archive and re-deploy the software.
    - Portal applications developed with Java 1.4.2/J2EE 1.3 (default version of SAP NW 7.0) are generally source and binary compatible to those developed with Java EE 5 (JDK 5/6) in SAP NW 7.3 and thus do not need to be manually migrated. However, the KMC-API and the UME-API used therein have been changed. In case an application uses these APIs, it is necessary to adjust the source code before rebuilding and re-deploying the application.
Is the summary presented above correct? If not, could you please point out which assumption is wrong?
Furthermore, could you please give me any details about changes regarding the portal frameworkpage? We have a highly customized frameworkpage and would like to know in how far the latter will be running on the new portal version.
Thanks for your help and best regards,
    Markus

    Hi Markus
Its been long period since last reply on your reply. In case you haven't yet solved your issues, I hope my reply would help you to some extent.
As per SAP, all those WD Java applications that were developed on NW 7.0 needs to be migrated on NW 7.3 if you plan to make further modifications (on new environment) in these applications.
For migration, all you need to do is migrate the development track, import the track into NWDS 7.3 and migrate the DCs one by one.
However in case of Portal applications, some of our custom portal applications (TLN), worked as it is on NW7.3 but some are not working even after defining new dependencies. Since some of the Classes have been removed, we are working around them.

  • How to Skip weight data from Sales order for Higher level BOM material

I have maintained a BOM at Item level with item category group LUMF.
And the higher level item is not subjected for pricing and costing. While creating the higher level Item I did not maintain weight for it. Now when I create a sales order due to the incompletion log system is asking to maintain Weight details for higher level item also.
But I donu2019t want to maintain weight for that item nor I want to remove net weight and gross wt from incompletion log.
While creating higher level material with material type FERT and I have maintained LUMF and all things are normal. Also tell me do I need to select any different material type or do I need to go for different settings ?
I hope my query is clear. Please ask if query is not clear.
    Please Guruu2019s suggest me.

    Hi ,
I do not know what a reference charactersitcs is,but there are all independant characeristics in terms of their values.
A guess it is because the VC data is changed after the sales order is created, the updated VC data is displayed properly only in VA02 or VA03 but other function modules fail to display the updated VC data.
I understand there is a relationship of instance -between sales order object and VC data object-which we need to update and then see the latest data.
Please let me know if anyone has debgged VA03 to know how the standard SAP program retrieves VC data in a sales order.
    Thank you,

  • SUS - Added Data Type Enhancement and Higher level Proxies are not active

    Hello,
I've added a field to our current data type enhancement Z_Purchase_Order_Item.  Once I regenerate the proxy on the enhancement and activate it the field appears as it should in the high level items that use the enhancement (PurchaseOrderRequest_In).  But those proxies have become inactive and when I try to activate them I get this message:
Interface II_BBPX1_SUS_PO was repaired before the Modification Assistant was enabled.
All Modification Assistant functions only apply to future modifications, not to those already
    undertaken.  This means:
-The modification overview only displays future modifications.
-When resetting to the standard, the system will reset all objects to their current version, since
the actual standard can no longer be identified by the Modification Assistant.
-Support for adjustment after an upgrade will only be available for future modifications.
Modifications that already exist must be re-made manually using version management.
    The next message says:
Object can only be created in SAP package.
Then the status bar shows "Proxy Activated".  But when I close and reopen the proxy I see that it is once again inactive.
Does any know what I need to do to activate this proxy?
    Thanks,
    Matt

In SPROXY you can open your proxy and then view the Activation Log under the GoTo menu.  The log will explain better what the problems might be.  In my case I needed to activate another data type enhancement first.
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • Settlement Run on Higher Level WBS

    Hello Experts,
Scenarios is that I need to run settlement on 2nd Level WBSE where I have assigned asset class but my activities are linked on 3rd OR 4th Level WBS Elements due to the requirement of detailed level project planning. Cost is posted against lower level WBS Elements and settlement is to be run on higher level WBS Element.
Can I roll up the cost from lower level WBS to Higher level WBS so that settlement can be run against the asset class assigned with higher level WBS Element
Please advise. Thanking you in anticipation...
    Warm Regards

    Hi,
You can perform this kind of settlement in two ways based on different conditions:
    1. If there is only one asset to be created from project, then instead of hierarchical settlement you can use the line item settlement to the same asset maintained in the settlement rule of superior WBS, by using settlement strategy as in customization as ( Settlement rule generation: account assignment category........4)  Copy rule from superior object. So that settlement of all the object will be done to the same asset.
    2. Otherwise, if you want to have the settlment to the same asset of your project structure in hierarchy, then you can use SAP note number 211324, to have Settlement rule generation: account assignment category as 05 (Superior WBS element), in the customization of settlement strategy.
I hope this should help you.

  • Cumulation of lower level item prices to higher level items

    Hi,
We have a specific requirement that we use high-level materials that is not relevant for pricing and lower level items connected to higher-level item that are RA and billing relevant. How do we modify the pricing procedure to cumulate (roll-up) the lower level items to higher level item which is not price relevant but statistical value should be updated at this level for billing purpose.
We want to achieve this using/modifying only pricing procedure and not via user exit..
Request SAP experts to provide some inputs to this issue..
    BR/Rajasekhar

    Hi rajsekhar
But generally if you want to transfer the cost of the sub item to  main item then you can  check the box Cumulative cost in copy control VTFL . But your requirement is quite opposite .So you need to go to assign a New Reqt / Alt calc type  to the cond type , telling that the header item cost which is not relevant for pricing has to be transferred to sub item .So you need to integrate with the ABAP'er to give inputs to him and giving our requirement also

    Hi
SAP R3 is used for logistics of a organization, human resources, purchases and production, fianance, management, materials management.
when bsuiness process is automated by SAPr3 it will reduces time, so less time consuming, faster, high quality when compared to manual business process, when your client also use same environment it will reduce the data migration and data missing, data synchronization,to rectify this lot of human resorces reqd and more time consuming for data migration
so when compared to diffrent environments sap>oracle extra mainatning same environment lesess the time, improves data quality and efficiency less man power.

  • High level manager Accessing Appraisal in Objective Setting & Appraisals

    Hello,
Can anyone please suggest me how the
    1. Next High Level Managers (all the way upto CEO), can access the appraisal of an employee from the portal.
    2. Also how the manager can access the appraisals of his previous employees, when the manager is transfered?
In my previous project, when I was using ECC5.0, I have addresed all these requirements by creating custom copies of "manager status overview pages" of HAP_Document.
In my current project, I am using ECC6.0 and we do not want any customizations.
Is there any configurable way for these requirements?
    Thank you & Regards
    Raghu

In the new PMP world, the manager can access the appraisals of his previous employees, when this manager is added as a Part Appraiser to the transferred employee's document.

  • APO DP: Disaggregation to product&plant level from higher levels.

    Hi.
We do demand planning on groups of products and for country/region in general, we have around 48.000 CVC's in our current setup. It works very well.
A new situation has arisen where we need to have the forecast split down to product and plant level.
As is we simply don't have the information at this level of granularity.
I don't see how we can add for instance product to our setup, we have around 20.000 products so the number of CVC's in DP would become massive if we did this.
I was thinking that perhaps something could be done by exporting the relevant key figures to a new DP setup with fewer characteristics (to keep the number of CVC's down) via some infocubes, perhaps some disaggregation could be done via some tables and the BW update rules. This still leaves the issue of how to get the figures properly disaggregated to plant and product though.
Does anyone have experiences on how to get the figures split to lower levels from DP when you're planning on a higher level?

    Simon,
One approach as you mentioned can be creating Z Table where in you set up disaggregation proportion from product group level to product level or product location level.
    Product Group X  100       Product A@loc1 10
                                          Product B@loc1 90
Download your planning area data into infocube C and then use BW routines to convert the data from group in infocube C to lower level refereing Z Table....into another infocube..
SAP also provides such standard functionality of spliting the aggregate Demand plan to detailed level
SNP plan..through functionality like location slit or product split.
Essential you will be using same concept in yor BW solution or you may also want to consider the
release your DP to SNP planning area its as solution of diaggregation of data  to lower level.

  • Integration of SAP enterprise portal with ATG dynamo platform

This is more an architectural question.
There is an existing web application running on the ATG 5.x/6.x B2C platform that takes orders from dealers for a retailer. It integrates with a SAP system using proprietary integration mechanisms. This is the existing architecture.
There is a idea to use the SAP netweaver platform, specifically the SAP enterprise portal that will integrate with the ATG dynamo platform.
ATG 6.2 and above allows integration in 2 ways :
    1) Use web services
    2) Integration framework using JMS/RPC etc
[Pl. see the ATG documentation www.atg.com/support]
I have been reading thru number of articles on SAP netweaver and looking for multiple options for the above integration.
    My theoretical understanding is:
    a) Develop a connector to the ATG platform using connector framework and invoke a web service on the ATG platform that expose the business logic built on the ATG platform
    b) Does SAP XI come into picture if the portal tries to create a business process out of one single application.
    c) Are there any other options?
I'm completely new to the SAP netweaver platform but have a good idea on SOA.
Any help or inputs on this will be highly appreciated.

    Hello,
I can give you a suggestion from the Connector framework point of view. We are currently developing a generic webservice connector which will enable to create content using CF, which will be sent as WS requests for function execution. The connector is planned to be released for New-York 7.1 Netweaver branch. For the mean time I can suggest, as you did, to develop your CF connector which will connect to ATG exposed WS.
    Best Regards,
    Ran
