WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.DB_To_Client crashes on Linux with SP2

Hi there,
I'm using the command WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.DB_To_Client and it crashes on Linux Application Server 10.1.2.2.0.
It's working on Linux Server 10.1.2.0.2 and also on Windows.10.1.2.2.0!!!
Any ideas or experiences?

i use in Forms this function to Downlaod BLOBs
Webutil_File_Transfer.DB_To_Client

In the BLOB are German letters inside ü, ä, ö ..
Result on two Clients:
at the first client the result looks good
On the other Client I’m missing the German letters.
Why the transfer is different? What has to do with the client?
BLOB's are binary files !!!
I just despair.

Yes, but did you add a characterset definition to your XML file, and does the data stored in the XML match this characterset?
If you have e.g.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>But the data in the blob is actually UTF-8 encoded you have a Characterset-Problem, as the XML parser will treat your (UTF-8 data) as windows-1252 data...

Dynamic Images not showing on BOXIR3 with SP2 (Linux redhat installation)

Hi Guys,
We recently upgraded our BOXI R2 installation to BOXIR3 with SP2 (Linux redhat platform), and we noticed that all our reports icons/logos have just disappeared.
What we are trying to do is just to load an image in an OLE Object, the image is referenced by an URL (that is passed through as a parameter).
We built a very simple testReport.rpt with an OLE Object that has an image URL in it, still it doen't work.
Notes:
1 The CrystalReport 2008 where the simple test report is built shows the icon/iamge correctly. However.
2- CMC and InfoVIew do not show the image.
3- What I just noticed today is that when I go to CMC/folders/folderxyz//testReport.rpt double click go to Default Settings/Thumbnail the image is there (if I tick Show report thumbnail).
Any help would be very appreciated (I am just stack).

When we try to run a report in Web Intelligence it gives a following error and at the same time the Web Intelligence Report Server crashes in a new installation. u201CYour Web Intelligence session has timed out. Log out and log in again to InfoView. (Error: WIJ 77778)u201D We restarted web intelligence server and tried to run the report again but the result was same We also created new Web Intelligence server but it also crashed then we installed fixpack2.4 by referring to the forum topic http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?t=64343 We tried reinstalling the linux, BOXIR2 with SP2+ Fixpack 2.4 and iODBC Connector and My SQL Connector but result is the same. We have installed BOXIR2 with SP2 + fixpack 2.4 on Linux ES4 We have iODBC Connector 3.52.6 and My SQL connector 3.51.23 BO reporsitory is running on My SQL 4.1.3 report data source is on My SQL 5.0.45

Compare Linux with Solaris

We have tested the I/O performance on Intel-Solaris 7.0 and Intel-RedHat Linux.
We found that Intel-Linux has much better performance than Intel-Solaris.
Now, we are thinking to install Oracle 8i on Intel-Linux.
However, before we make this decision, we would like to hear more opinions about
the advantages and disadvantages of running Oracle on these two different
operating systems. We'll appreciate, if you can give me your opinions.

This from experience of running large-db ecommerce site on intel linux with redhat 6.1, oracle 805 and 8i, with some java functions, intermedia, time-series module, 4 different servers on aolserver 2.33 and aolserver 3.0 on 1 machine: it's stable.
I never had a crash, and no locking or restarting due to either aolserver or oracle.
With a few minor modifications in linux to support some enterprise functions (raw devices, async io) linux on intel with oracle is almost ready to kick sun's ass. (at least on the 1 to 8 cpu server market)

Can not change the field property - 10gR2 reports crashing on Linux :(

All I want to do, is to change one field's property from NUMBER to DATE in the property palette. It does not allow me to do it (not east like forms). I can not change the field property - 10gR2 reports keep crashing on Linux :(
I don't know if this is a Linux specific iDS issue, or a generic one.
What are the proper steps to change one field (in my query, the field name is ptime, it was defined as a number field originally, and now I need to change it to DATE and apply the proper format mask). The matching database field definition was modified from number to date.

nop, did not change anything in the select statement at all. Just selected the related query under the data model (in the navigator), then selected the related query from within the property panel, connected to the db, then from the related navigor menu selected compile all, when the related query was highlighted (selected). Then I saved it, checked the groups, and bingo - the datatype was changed from number to date. Then I went to the related object under the page layout and applied the format mask (that was another funny story). And it worked. It is not as flexible as the forms for sure - pain in the a.. And I still don't know why Reports Builder keeps crashing on Linux - have no problems with Forms Developer on Linux at all. It is a certified RH platform with all the required libs, rpms, etc installed. I am certain it is not an installation issue. Maybe I should check Metalink and apply if an iDS 10gR2 patch exists for reports.

Win XP Pro with SP2 all-in-one CD? Ok?

Deciding on my OS. Is XP Pro with SP2 all on the same CD and ok call or no?
My Setup is MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and AMD64 3000+.
WIN XP Pro with SP2 on the same CD? Or should I go with XP Pro alone and add SP2 later with the option to remove it if I have problems?

No one that i've heard about if installing from slipstreamed sp2 cd.
The only ones with problems i've noticed is peps that have all kind of software and drivers installed pre sp2 upgrade .
And the upgrade goes bad caused by unidentified installed software and/or drivers that crash with the A64 combined with sp2 DEP technology.

Coloring a strictly typedefd FP control crashes LV (Linux)

I thought something that macroscopic would just qualify for a CAR, but my local AE replied "post on forum". Well, here it is. Anyone else sees it, or is it just me?

Attempting to color a strictly typedefd FP control crashes LV (linux)
Steps to Reproduce
create a custom control, e.g. with a numeric
make it strict typedef
create a new VI
drag the icon of the custom control from its window corner to the FP of the new VI
select the paintbrush on the Tools palette
click anywhere on the control on the VI FP as if to color it
LV crashes with:
LabVIEW caught fatal signal
12.0.1 - Received SIGSEGV
Reason: address not mapped to object
Attempt to reference address: 0x0xe2e2e6
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
on stderr.
Perfectly reproducible on two different systems.
Software Details: LabVIEW Base Development System 2012 SP1 and 2014 SP1
Operating System: Ubuntu 14.04 (ok, not officially supported, but)

While this does not explain the crash, it does tell you that you cannot do that. From the LV help:
Strict Type Definitions
A strict type definition forces everything about an instance to be identical to the strict type definition, except the caption, label, description, tip strip, and default value. As with type definitions, the data type of a strict type definition remains the same everywhere you use the strict type definition. Strict type definitions also define other values, such as range checking on numeric controls and the item names in ring controls. The only VI Server properties available for strict type definitions are those that affect the appearance of the control or indicator, such as Visible, Disabled, Key Focus, Blinking, Position, and Bounds."
You cannot change the color of a strict typedef. If you need to cahnge the color, use the standard (non-strict) typedef.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Java running under linux with crontab

I'm having a problem:
i want to run a java program under linux with crontab.
my classes are in a directory and aren't in a package. i run em by invoking ./start which is a small script that i wrote. The script is in the same dir as the classes and invokes java by "java Main >>logjava.txt " but this doesn't seem to work all i get is an empty logfile
i need to run the program every day at 0800 so i inserted the following in crontab:
0 8 * 1-5 /var/"path"/start > logjava (where path is the path to the classes dir)
if i run the cmdline from anywhere on the prompt i get the result i want. I think it's because the cron runs it from the root dir thus making java unable to find the classes
Any suggestions would be welcome. or can some1 tell me how to make linux executables from the java (i usually use jsmooth for the windows exe)

You can execute several commands in the process started by cron. You separate them using semicolons.
Have you tried a cron entry like this:
0 8 * 1-5 cd /var/"path";pwd;echo $PATH; ./start > logjavaOr, you may need to make sure the process started by cron gets the same environment as your interactive shells do, by explicitly loading your setup or .login scripts:
0 8 * 1-5 . $HOME/.setup;cd /var/"path";pwd;echo $PATH; ./start > logjava

Oracle10g Installation problem on Linux with DHCP IP

I am new to Oracle Products, I have tried to install Oracle 10G on Linux with DHCP IP.
I got the following warning while installing even though I have loopback interface configured.
Checking Network Configuration requirements ...
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned.
Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned public IP addresses. However, the primary network interface on the system should be configured with a static IP address in order for the Oracle Software to function properly. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.
Please help me in resolving this problem or Can I ignore this message?

This warning means it is not recommended to install Oracle 10g on a DHCP assigned IP address. It could work, but you won't be able to configure Enterprise Manager, since this tool requires a fixed IP address. If possible, have the IP address fixed.

SharePoint 2010 has no supportability statement for Server 2012 R2. I would not use it until Microsoft releases a supportability statement.
Even it has no supportability for server 2012, but sharepoint 2010 running fine in my server 2012 test environment

10g Grid (RAC) on Linux with ASM and OCR?

I was trying to install 10g on Linux with ASM. The docs are not terribly clear on this, but I'd like to have the Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) on one of my four ASM disks, rather than dedicate space to OCFS. I have 4 18.2 GB drives setup with ASM now. Is there a way to do this?
I guess the other thing I could do is to cut the ASM disks into two partitions. One, say 200MB and the other the rest. I'd put OCFS for OCR on the 200MB partition on one of the disks. The large partition on each of the rest of the disks would be dedicated to ASM.
What am I missing? I feel it must be something obvious. I'd rather have the OCR on the ASM, so that I don't have to deal with it...

Hi.
There shouldn't be a problem with this provided you use a 32-bit OS on the 64 bit machine. RAC doesn't care about the chipset, so long as the same OS is used, but I don't thinkit will support one node on 32 bit and one on 64 bit, since they are actually separate distributions.
Of course, I've never tried it so I can't be sure :)
