Weird database related PHP issue

Basically I have a regular page that lists a bunch of
Candidates from a table :
CandidateID, Candidate
They link through to a details page on CandidateID
On the listing page, I also have a link to an Edit Candidate
Details page, using :
<a href="editCandidateEmail.php?CandidateID=<?php echo
$row_Candidates['CandidateID']; ?>"><img
src="../Images/edit7.gif" border="0" width="28px" height="18px"
/></a>
Which works just as it should. So far so good.
On my details page, I have the exact same link to the edit
deatils page, using :
<a href="editCandidateEmail.php?CandidateID=<?php echo
$row_Candidates['CandidateID']; ?>"><img
src="../Images/edit7.gif" border="0" width="28px" height="18px"
/></a>
The weird thing is that it works sometimes, but not others.
The error is :
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that
corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to
use near '' at line 1
And the URL is just missing the ID off the end of the link,
so looks like :
../editCandidateEmail.php?CandidateID=
Instead of
../editCandidateEmail.php?CandidateID=1234
The recordset is named 'Candidates', and there is a
CandidateID present.
Any clue as to what might be causing this?
Cheers.

d'oh! Figured out what was happening - there were two
recordsets on the details page, and one involved a join to another
table - so if a CandidateID wasn't present in the other look up
table, it wasn't being referenced by that recordset - so I just
changed those links to refer to the simple recordset that referred
directly to the Candidates table.

hi...
can anyone tell me how to improve the database performance??

Hi Nisha,
Welcome to SDN )
The Database performance increases by doing the following,
1. Partioning
2. Indexing
3. Archive unwanted data
4. Creating Aggregates ( Consider DB ratio and KPI ratio)
5. Check for parallelization options
6. deleting PSA requests

• Database Relation issue

Guys,
I have got one more problem.
My database relation detail
Table.field   Link Table.field
Project.JobID ==> Project_cost.JobID
Project.JobID ==> ItempurchasesLines.JobID
Project_cost.AccountNumber ==> Accounts.AccountNumber
Project_cost.AccountID ==> Item.ExpensesAccountID
Item.ItemID ==> ItempurchasesLines.ItemID
What I want now is, I want a full list of accountID in my report from Project_cost table regardless of any record available in ItempurchaseLines. ItempurchaseLines table  is linked through itemID field with Item table and Item table is linked with project_cost through field Project_cost.AccountID ==> Item.ExpensesAccountID.
Thanks
mithani

now no error but still not retrieving data from tabel ItemPurchaseLines.
below is an updated sql query
MS Access DB
SELECT `PROJECT`.`JobID`, `PROJECT`.`PROJECT_NAME`
FROM   `PROJECT` `PROJECT`
ORDER BY `PROJECT`.`JobID`
EXTERNAL JOIN PROJECT.JobID={?FACADE: ItemPurchaseLines.JobID} AND PROJECT.JobID={?MS Access DB: Project_cost.JobID}
FACADE
SELECT "ItemPurchaseLines"."TaxExclusiveTotal", "ItemPurchaseLines"."JobID"
FROM   "SCHEMA"."MYOB"."ItemPurchaseLines" "ItemPurchaseLines"
WHERE  "ItemPurchaseLines"."JobID"={?MS Access DB: PROJECT.JobID}
MS Access DB
SELECT `Project_cost`.`Type`, `Project_cost`.`EXPENSES_CODE_NUM`, `Project_cost`.`EXPENSES_Code`, `Project_cost`.`Description`, `Project_cost`.`Rate`, `Project_cost`.`AccountNumber`, `Project_cost`.`JobID`
FROM   `Project_cost` `Project_cost`
WHERE  `Project_cost`.`JobID`={?MS Access DB: PROJECT.JobID}
ORDER BY `Project_cost`.`Type`, `Project_cost`.`EXPENSES_CODE_NUM`
EXTERNAL JOIN Project_cost.AccountNumber={?FACADE: Accounts.AccountNumber}
FACADE
SELECT "Accounts"."AccountNumber"
FROM   "SCHEMA"."MYOB"."Accounts" "Accounts"
WHERE  "Accounts"."AccountNumber"={?MS Access DB: Project_cost.AccountNumber}
ItempurchaseLines table contains all purchase transaction.
My report would look something like that:
Group header 1 "JobID" from Project table
Group header 2 "Type"  from Project_cost table
Group header 3 "Project_cost.Expenses_code--Project_cost.description--
ItemPurchaseLines.TaxExclusiveTotal etc"
now I can see all expenses code, description but still not getting any purchases from ItemPurchaseLines.

• Collaboration Room iViews give error -- Database related errors -- Pls Help

Hello Everyone,
We are on EP 6.0 SP 17 (Netweaver 2004).
KMC component was installed separately (Deployed manually).
We are trying to create simple Collaboration Rooms and we are facing some issues with the same.
I am following the documentation on SAP Help for the Room Creation:
Help &#61664; SAP Netweaver 2004 &#61664; People Integration &#61664; Collaboration &#61664; Administration Guide
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1d/3d59fdaa5ebb45967ea107d3fa117a/frameset.htm
We are able to create rooms based on pre-defined templates and we are also able to add members to rooms, send/receive the invitation emails. I am able to work with Instant Messaging also.
But the problem is that some of the iViews related to Collaboration Rooms are giving errors.
1.<b> “Discussion” iView gives an error saying “You do not have access permission” (even the user has all the necessary roles assigned).</b>
Log for this error is as follows:

I tried to change the permissions of the “Discussion” iView, but it did not work either.

Are there any database related configurations required for making the Collaboration Room Discussion functionality work properly?
Are there any KM related configurations necessary other than those mentioned in the document I am referring to?
Are there any database related configurations that are required?
I would really appreciate any help in this matter. Please advise me about any ideas you may have?
Thanks,
Raj Seelam

Hello Lars,
First of all thank you for your reply.
<b>do u use Collaboration first time?</b>
Yes, we just started using Collaboration and this is our first requirement.
<b>Which roles do u have?</b>
I have all the required roles (Super Admin, Content Management, Collaboration, Collaboration Room Creation).
I know that these features are available in NW04 SP 17 without any limitations. I have reviewed SAP Notes 707730, 711093, 709354 and 946470 also.
This problem is with only a few Collaboration iViews.
I am able to create Rooms, Enter Rooms, Receive Invitation e-mails without any problem.
Any suggestions about any possible missing configurations ?
Thanks Again,
Raj

• Why database related code not wriiten in jsp's

hi all
what all resons are there for which database related code
is not written in jsp's
one thing that i know is
it's not a j2ee architecture to do so
so is it the thing that doing so hits the performance issue
thanx

Me, I'm still trying to get my head around Java 1.5, J2EE, Tomcat, JBoss, and Oracle RAC (both programming and DBAing)... My head hurts... Badly...
Back to the topic, though... I also agree with the previous posters...
I agree there are exceptions to the "no JDBC in JSP rule of thumb"- I have a JSP-based generic table browser as a tool for emergency maintenance from a (presumably) hostile network, it provides read-only access and automatic password rotation. The flexibility of having it in the JSP has saved my bacon in a crisis; when travelling, I had to talk a non-programmer through applying a code fix (damn developers, using reserved words as column name...)( I had the source on my laptop...). To get a class file fixed, I would have had to get a programmer on the phone, and get the server to reload the class which in our environment at the time required an application restart... The project I work on is about 70 man-years of work, mostly Java, and we have maybe 6 or 8 JSPs that access the DB directly...
Most of the time though, good design says that you access a particular "type" of data (table or group of tables) in the same "chunk" of code, jsp or class file. It's a lot harder to share a jsp among different invokers than it is a class file. It's also better to isolate presentation from data access.
Imagine that you have a "USER" table, with first name, last name, username, and password. You program a "login" jsp, a user "edit" jsp and an administrator "edit" jsp. Then a security audit declares that saving an unexcrypted password in the database is insecure; you now have to change evey place that can access the password. If the user object was accessed through a single Java class file, then there would be only one place to fix. Of course, it's possible to use jsp includes to simulate class files, but that's just about as much work as creating the class file to begin with, with more problems.
Another big advantage of keeping your data access out of JSPs is that you can write unit tests much more easily for the Java classes, using something like JUnit. You can have a set of tests for all your persisted data, which can be run anytime your data model changes. This makes it a lot harder for "side effect" bugs to creep into your code.

• EM 12C: Fails to detect database related targets

Hi
I have been trying to add database target on a remote host but fails to detect it as its looking into a wrong ORACLE_HOME directory how can I make it to look into the right ORACLE_HOME,
the ORACLE_HOME is already defined in .bash_profile however its reading GRID_HOME as ORACLE_HOME and fails to detect database and related targets, I have already added the cluster target and want to add database related targets for the RAC.
Thanks for your help.

Terry,
Have a look at support bulletin "Understanding Database Discovery in Enterprise Manager 12cCloud Control [ID 1400463.1]". The oracle home location is pulled from oratab which the agent needs access to ( see section "Has the database been discovered" ) for details.
Let us know if the resolves your issue.

• Oracle Apps Database severe Performance Issue

Hi Gurus,
This is regarding a severe performance issue running in our Production E-Business Suite Instance.
its an R12.1.3 setup installed with 11.2.0.1 Database. All the servers are Solaris Sparc 64 (Solaris 10)
Let me brief you about the instance first:
2 Node Application
- Main Application Server hosting web/forms/concurrent/admin servers
- iSupplier server hosting web services (placed in DMZ, used by external suppliers via Internet)
1 Node Database Server
Database Server Specs
Memory: 144G phys mem 20G total swap
- CPUs (8Px4cores, 2Px2cores)
- I/O - fiber channel hard disk (hitachi SAN Storage) - 7 DATA_TOPs (7 drives with RAID 5) - current DB size 1.6 TB
- at peak load, around 1000 concurrent forms session and 2000 web sessions.
We have been facing some serious performance issues and we raised an SR with Oracle Support.
The Support analyzed a bunch of AWR Reports we provided them and they asked us to increase the DB_CACHE from its current usage of 27G to 40G
So, we changed SGA_TARGET from 35G to 50G and PGA was increased from 35G to 40G as v$pgastat was also suggesting some lack of memory.
We made these changes last night.
Today morning we observed the following:
1. after start of office hours, we checked in the home page of EM DB Console that ADDM was showing reduced impact due to lack of SGA memory which seemed to be a good sign. Earlier it was around 25% which was now at 12%.
However, negative aspects were:
1. lot of swapping was reported by the System Administrators on the DB Server
2. High CPU Usage
3. EM DB Console showed a lot of "Concurrency Wait Class" events ...throughout the day lot of blocking sessions were reported which were making other sessions to wait.
in the AWR Report, following foreground reports were listed:
Top 5 Timed Foreground Events

This is showing "library cache lock" events as the main culprit apart from the usual suspect, the CPU.
I am attaching the AWR Report. Please let me know if  i should revert back the memory changes or is there anything else i could do.
Please help us resolving it because the performance is going worst.

• StandBy database Create/Export Issue

We have database ABC and standby database ABCSTD and they are working properly. (Archives are properly applied), They were created from the database ABC_OLD.
Issue is that the ABC_OLD database has some more changes and users continued to work on that. We didnt switch the users to the ABC. And now the ABC database has become obsolete. its around one month old database.
I just want to know. Do I need to recreate the ABC database and Standby again from ABC_OLD cold backup Or Can I take full Database Export froom ABC_OLD and Import it on the the ABC Live.
Are there any other ways.??
Regards,
Rakesh Soni.

Or Am i just overthinking on this?
Is dataguard only looking for the current and oldest log sequence?

Would you provide some details on how you’re calling this, which branch (e.g. Compiler is now known as Mxmlc on the trunk)? You need to have all libs from trunk/lib on the classpath.

      Batik-related compiler issue
I received this error calling the flex2.tools.Compiler’s main[] method.  The MXML input compiles successfully in the Flex 2 builder.  I wanted to check to see if anyone had experienced this before digging deeper into source code.

• DataBase relation tables loses in suscribers in Merge Replication

Hi all
I noticed that after cheking the database relation in the suscribers after installing the merge replication.
the relations in tables that I have in my Publisher database do not appear in the suscribers database.
Is this normal ? Do I have to define again the tables relations in the suscribers ?
Thanks in advance

• Populate Livecycle PDF from mySQL database using PHP

I'm trying to set up a database of loan agreements, where users will submit a form through Acrobat and their information will be stored in a mySQL database. Later, they can go back and download the PDF, which will be repopulated with their data in the mySQL db.
I made the form in Livecycle Designer and submit the information through HTTP POST. I can easily get the information from the form into the database...my only problem is getting that information back out into the PDF.
What would allow me to write back to the PDF, preferably using PHP? What kind of syntax would that require?
Thanks!

I have a vital form that clients fill out, which is passed to many people in the company along the workflow. The form is a Planner and we have in the following PDF, Word Doc..
Well before, the Planner.pdf was originally created in Word, since most people have access to Word.. but evolved to a PDF form created from the Word Doc via Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 w/ User Rights enabled so that the form could be filled out and saved using Adobe Reader.. which was a step better than Word.. being that it is free. But this needed to be easier and more to the point b/c some clients don't particularly like installing the latest version of Reader, even if you provide them the link. Nor do they like saving the form, filling the form, and attaching the form to send back.
My goal is to have the client fill an HTML version of the form, submit and be done with it, but everyone in the workflow be able to easily receive the filled Planner as a PDF form.
So some months ago I ran into this post Chris Trip, "Populate Livecycle PDF from mySQL database using PHP" #8, 22 Sep 2007 4:37 pm
which uses the command line Win32 pdftk.exe to merge an FDF file into an existing PDF on the remote server, and serve this to whoever.
My problem was with shared hosting and having the ability to use the Win32 pdftk.exe along with PHP which is predominantly used on Linux boxes. And we used a Linux box.
so i created the following unorthodox method, which a client fills the HTML version of the Planner, all field values are INSERTED into a table in MySQL DB, I and all filled planners that have been filled by clients to date can be viewed from a repository page where an XML file is served up of the corresponding client, but someone would have to have Acrobat Professional, to import the form data from the XML file into a blank form.. altoughh this is simple for me.. I have the PHP file already created so that when a Planner is filled and client submits. >> the an email is sent to me with a table row from the repository of the client name, #, email, and a link to d-load the XML file,
But I also have the PHP files created so that the Planner can be sent to by email to various people in the workflow with certain fileds ommitted they they do not need to see, but instead of the XML file beiong served up i need the filled PDF Planner to be served.
I can do this locally with ease on a testing server, but I am currently trying to use another host that uses cross-platform compatibility so i can use PHP and the pdftk.exe to achieve this, as that is why I am having to serve up an XML file b/c we use a Linux server for our website, and cant execute the exe.
Now that I am testing the other server (cross-platform host), just to use them to do the PDF handling (and it's only $5 per month) I am having problems with getting READ, WRITE, EXECUTE permissions..
Si guess a good question to ask is can PHP do the same procedure as the pdftk.exe, and i can eleminate it.
or how in the heck can i get this data from the DB into a blank PDF form, like i have described??

• ER - Database related facilities in Database Diagrams (procedures/objects)?

I am having a look at JDeveloper 11g Preview (11.1.1.0.0).
Our environment is (still) very much a relational environment using Oracle Forms/Reports (and Designer for analysis/design, not generation).
I am pleased to note, that materialized views can be "copied online" from a database, which was not possible in JDeveloper 10. But materialized views cannot be represented on a database diagram.
The Database Diagram tool resembles the Server Model Diagram (SMD) tool in Designer, and it is fine when comparing the two tools. What I could have found useful in Designer, in the SMD tool or otherwise, is to be able to add database functions, procedures and packages to the database diagram.
Also, representation of database types on the database diagram would be useful. This sort of "dropped out" in Designer :-}
Taking this thought at step further, it would be useful to have a diagramming tool that could represent dependencies among database objects graphically.
So, on the whole, a strengthening of the database related diagramming facilities would be appreciated.
Regards
Thomas Kirchhoff.

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for your feedback.
In the next technology preview of 11g (TP3) you will be able to represent materialized views on the diagram.
Unfortunately we cannot add functions, procedures and packages etc to the diagram.. But feedback from users like yourself is useful for future planning. When you talk of 'representation of database types' are you talking PL/SQL or the specific database (aag, XE...)
What kinds of dependencies would you like to see? We have things like view usages and we are conscious of making diagrams 'too busy'. However, we do provide the diagram annotations: attachment, dependency, link and note for you to annotate your diagrams.

• [CLOSED] Weird mysql/php issue.

Hi,
I am running an ArchLinux as my Server. It's a fresh install. I just configured nginx as my Webserver and then configured MySQL. I wanted to use phpMyAdmin as a manager. I installed it via wget and it worked fine. But all of a sudden it would not let me log in anymore. The log in screen just keeps on popping up, without any errors or anything. It tried reinstalling phpMyAdmin, I also tried the alternative chive. In chive I get the error "CDbConnection failed to open the DB connection." I really am at a loss here, has anyone else encountered a similar issue and can point me in the right direction?
Disclaimer: Please excuse my possibly poor english, as it is not my native language, also please excuse any questions that may sound noob-like, because I am quite new to Arch.

config.inc.php should be in
/etc/webapps/phpmyadmin
but the installation symlinks that file to
/usr/share/webapps/phpMyAdmin
where the installation is.
You'll have to add this directive in open_basedir @
/etc/php/:/usr/share/webapps/
Also might need an alias in
/etc/nginx/nginx.conf
What I do is symlink
ln -s /usr/share/webapps /srv/http/.webapps
/srv/http being my www directory I can visit mysite.com/.webapps/phpMyAdmin to access.
This can be a security issue, maybe allow only local access or use another mean of accessing the installation.
Also symlinking just the installation directory to a hidden directory precursed with '.' won't float, like mysite.com/.phpmyadmin

• Php/MySQL database insert record issue...

I have a php page that adds an "order" to a mysql database table (orders). One text field in the form is for tires/wheels. The description of the wheels often includes the " symbol for inches after a number....Everything submits fine, however when I look at the page that displays the orders all the data after the " symbol including the " symbol is gone... DOes anyone have any idea why this may be happening? It is requiring us to return and edit that area repeatedly. Any help is appreciated greatly. Thanks for your time.

Ok, so just to summarize so I am understanding this correctly.  You have an ordering page for tires/wheels.  A customer places an order for tires/wheels and the data is submitted successfully and this includes a symbol for measurement (in.).  But on another summary page the symbol is returning a blank value.
If this is correct we need to see:
- First, the code that is inserting the symbol to the database table in question
- Second, the query and code where you are printing the data to the screen.

• Database related issue

Hi friends,
When u enter data into database table , the value entered is the actual value but its gets converted to internal value. i need the actual value to be stored not the internal value.How to get it.....?
for correct answer points are waiting
Thanks in Advance
Naveed

Just use WRITE dbtable-field TO some_variable and you will get the value as it is entered and not as it is stored. Do not force the database to store something in external format. That will cause huge issues.
