Weird - Query timeout on 1 client but not on another

Hi folks
I have a really strange problem. In SSMS I run a query on machine A and it runs in under a second. I run the same query on machine B and it takes nearly 2 minutes to run. Both machines are querying the same DB. I tried it on a 3rd machine and it also
returns in under a second, so obviously the fault is with this single machine.
The table I am querying has a large file (40mb) stored in a varbinary(max) field, and the query is returning this single row... It seems to work ok on smaller files.
Any ideas appreciated....!

Make sure the following:
1. All machines have the same resource capacity. Otherwise, it is expected.
2. Look at the execution plan to confirm the index usage and for any differences
3. The data is same for all three machines.
4. The stats are updated

    The query is as follows:

  • Missing Benefit Plan in HRBEN0001 in one client but not in another.

    Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has stumbled upon this issue where your benefits configuration are identical in three clients.  I have configured two savings plans - 401K and Roth which the employee is allowed to make changes anytime.  In two DEV clients, I was able to see both savigns plan in HRBEN0001 and 401K in QA but not the Roth.  I've compared the configuration and the dates and they are correct (and identical).
I went back into QA and hired a new test employee and the Roth plan appears in HRBEN0001.  My question is: why didn't the Roth plan appeared for the employees that were previously hired.  Is there a table that needs to be activated in QA?
Your help is much appreciated!  Thanks!

    Hi Donna,
Could you please tell how did you resolve this issue as I am facing same problem. I have configured 3 pension plans which are not reflecting under HRBEN0001. Appreciate your help.

  • WDTHEMEROOT works in one client but not another

I'm looking at using the WDTHEMEROOT application parameter to set a theme. I've set it to 'sap-chrome' in our development client and that works fine when I test the application. When I log into another client on the same system, however, the WDTHEMEROOT  parameter has no effect. I'm guessing there is a setting in the first client but not in the second but I don't know what that might be. Any ideas ?
    thanks,
    Malcolm.

    Well,
I guess my excitement was shortlived. I changed the theme and did whatever the note suggested. It worked!
But then I changed it back to 'sap_chrome' and did all that the note suggested - it did not work. I am now stuck with the new incomplete theme and am  not able to change it back to what it was earlier.
    Any Help?
    Thanks,
    Sanjiv

  • Tcode in production client but not in development & quality client

I am facing this particular situation, I am seeing a particular Ztode which is in production client but not in development & quality client
Is it possible to have a tcode in production client but not in development & quality client, If yes what would be the reasons for maining in production client but not in development & quality client

It could be a local object that a person who has developer access in production created. This is unusual, but not unheard of.
Or the transaction could have been deleted in DEV and the deletion transported to QA but not PRD.

  • Airplay works for one user but not for another on the same machine

I have the problem where airplay works for one user but not for another and both users are on the same machine.  For the user where it does not work, everything appears normal, it's just that there is no sound being transmitted.  I have tried restarting the Airport express, restarting iTunes, repairing disk permissions.  Any ideas about what can be done to resolve this?

  • Can log into Yosemite server (4.0) VPN service with a Mavericks client, but not Yosemite client

    Sever Info:
Yosemite Server 4.0 running on a late 2009 Mac Mini with 8 GB RAM with vpnd service enabled
The server was upgraded to Yosemite - not clean install - this may not matter (see below)
Airport extreme router with standard VPN UDP ports for L2TP forwarded to server (500, 1701, 4500)
    Client info:
MB Air 13" early 2014 with 8 GB RAM
    Yosemite
Mavericks 10.9.5 running as a Parallels virtual machine (don't ask - I need it to run an app for work that is not yet compatible with Yosemite)
OD service is NOT running - no VPN connections ever occurred from ANY client with this service running - OD is not needed in my case fortunately
With the OD service off, I can connect via the Mavericks virtual machine just fine, but not with Yosemite. With Yosemite, the ppp connection appears to occur, but server config requests appear to fall on deaf ears (client side doesn't appear to respond) until the connection times out. Can't figure out what triggers the client response to a server config request. Client side complains about no route to host and IP addresses don't get assigned to the connection.
The connection happens successfully in an eyeblink with the Mavericks client. Same username/password/shared secret in both instances.
Tried a generated .vpnconfig from the server, this also did not work.
It's possible that it is an auth problem, but can't figure out how the process occurs or what may be going wrong. There does not seem to be an obvious way to increase the granularity of the logging such that it might give other hints - at least that I can find. I found plenty of references to VPN issues when people upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks as well as work arounds for this. I tried the most promising looking of those - no love. I reverted everything back to stock install since I could at least connect with Mavericks.
If log entries would be helpful, they are included below. I've stared at them long enough - perhaps a new set of eyes can provide a hint.
In addition, I can find no documentation regarding the VPN service in Yosemite server so as to get a clue as to whether there have been changes in racoon since Mavericks.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I would be glad to supply any other info needed for an accurate diagnosis .
    Pat

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Orai18n-mapping.jar in Instant Client, but not in JDBC Driver

    Hello,
i searched about my question, but no answer. :(
    I downloaded the complete JDBC Driver packages (*ojdbc5.jar* + ojdbc6.jar + orai18n.jar) for Oracle 11g at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc_111060.html
I downloaded the Basic + JDBC supplement packages of Instant Client of Oracle 11g at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/winsoft.html
There is a mismatch of files between 2 ways of getting the jdbc drivers. In the Instant Client version via JDBC-Supplement, the orai18n-mapping.jar is present, but not in the JDBC way.
Why is the orai18n-mapping.jar present in one way, and not the other? Is it an error? It's all about 11g version of oracle....
    Thanks
    Bruno Lavoie

Well, in my understanding, Instant client and JDBC drivers are completely different products: JDBC driver is a full-featured set of packages required to run JDBC-compatible program, i.e. it's enough to run a program in any supported Oracle environment. On the other hand, Instant client is a lightweight version, which does not include several JARs and some of them are present in different form, but it's enough for most JDBC-programs. See: orai18n.jar is a required package for correct Oracle object's VARCHARs attributes handling. It contains locale files for different languages. In orai18n-mapping.jar, there's no many of them, but I suppose it would be enough for the same task (probably they do not store locales in that JAR version, but rather build them on the fly if needed with help of DB - but I don't know for sure).

  • Abnormal, Same query get data in sql but not working on Fron-end

    Dear,
Version :Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
We have created packed in oracle database befor two months ago & was working fine, but since morning select statment in package is not working while running via application which mentioned below and raise not data found but surprising thing is that same query is getting data when we execut on sql plus return one record.
i don't know either it's abnormal behaviour or sth else becuase the same query run without changing any singl column in where_clause work in sql but not getting data while submition request through oracle application and raising not data found.
    --thankse
    Edited by: oracle0282 on Dec 29, 2011 2:20 AM

Actully when i run this query in sql it return one record on the same parameter, while when we exeucte this select in pl/sql on the same parameter oracle raise no data found error.
so i got confused the same query with same parameter retur record in sql but when we call it fron-end through packege raise 'no data found error'.
    hope you understand now.

  • Can login to OS 10.4.9 server using 10.4 client, but not with 10.3.9 client

When I try to login to OS 10.4.9 server using 10.4 client, all is fine, but not with 10.3.9 client -- what's up?
It seems that when I set the group preferences (what kind of dock the users in our elementary school see, etc.), it doesn't affect 10.4 clients, but when trying to log onto the server using a 10.3.9 client, it just runs and runs, never logging on. Have to eventually restart the client computer. If I take a user out of a group with preferences set, it's fine. So, help! Most of my computers in my lab are 10.3.9. All are bound.
    Thanks,
    Joan

    Hi Devils_Coup,
first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
It is strongly recommended to use OS 9.1 or higher. However, you do not have to buy it, just download and apply the free updates here: Mac OS 9: Available Updates.
Also make sure your firmware is up-to-date: Firmware Upgrades.
In MacOS X remember: Repair permissions before and after an update!

  • Query to find lines shipped but not invoiced

    Hi all,
Can anyone help in finding query to list all SO lines shipped but not invoiced.
    regards,

    Hi,
Can someone validate whether below query is right way to find lines shipped but not invoiced.
    select line_id,invoice_interface_status_code,flow_status_code,fulfilled_quantity,shipped_quantity
    from oe_order_lines_all
where shipped_quantity is not null --- means line is shipped
and invoice_interface_status_code != ‘YES’ -- means line is not invoiced

    SQL>
The Oracle System ID (SID) is used to uniquely identify a particular database on a system. For this reason, one cannot have more than one database with the same SID on a host.
When using RAC, all instances belonging to the same database must have unique SID's even using different hosts.
So, you must set ORACLE_SID to QRC1 where Instance 1 is running or QRC2 where Instance 2 is running.
To know where instance number is running you can get this info following steps below:
    $GRID_HOME/bin/olsnodes -n
    lnxora01        1
lnxora02        2In example above all instance created by DBCA on lnxora01 will have prefix 1 (e.g db QRC will have QRC1) and on lnxora02 will have prefix 2. (it's not a rule, because I can set manually the number of instance as I wish)
Or exists another way to find it: (on local node)
    ps -ef |grep pmon
ora_pmon_QRC1 So, to connect just set right ORACLE_SID
    eg:
    export ORACLE_SID=QRC1
    sqlplus / as sysdbaRegards,

  • DVD plays on one TV DVD player, but not on another

    I made a video for a client's 50th b-day party, and burned it with DVDSP 3.
I am using Verbatim, DatalifePlus 16x media.
It plays fine on my G5 and my TV's DVD player, as well as on my clients computer, but not on his TV's DVD player.
I am not sure what kind of equipment the DJ at his party will use, but of course I want to be confident it will work.
Anyone have issues like this, or any solutions/explanations?
    Thanks.

If I was going to wager, it sounds like the player is old.
The other items can also cause issues, sometimes high rates can cause problems, but it does not sound like that is the case with the rates you used, especially if you (?) used AC3 for the audio. Usually that would happen more if playback is poor (as oppossed to not playing at all.) Also note that some players handle dirt/scratches better than others, so some may play the disc and another may not. Of course the last thing is that it is DVD SP causing the issue. Some players have issues with how DVD SP authors a disc.
I would try burning slower (as suggessted) and try a different brand of media. If you are able to find out which machine they have you may be able to find out what it is designed to play (media -R/+R etc.) of if there are known issues with the machine. Usually older machines would work with -R if there was going to be one over the other.
    Take a look here
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Verbatim seems to be rated well. Personally I like Taiyo Yuden -R for SL and Verbatim +R for DL

  • Oracle online in one node but not on another

    Hi all,
I have Oracle 9i running in a 2 node windows 2003 cluster. When I try to move oracle from node 2 to node 1 it fails with ora-01017 invalid username or password and come online on node 2.
I noticed in the event log that in node1 it try to put the database online with user sys and privilege none, but in node 2 the event is with user sys and privilege sysdba.
Does anyone have any suggestion on what is the problem?
    Thanks,

Let me try to explain better.
I opened Windows Cluster Administration and moved the Oracle group to node 1. The group came offline and windows tried to bring it online on node 1 where the error happens and after 3 fails it returns online to node 2.
I can't say it better because I'm still learning about this.
I can't give you more information right now because I'm at home and can't access the server but tommorow i'll post the exact error and the software versions to see if it helps.
    Thanks for your time
DELLS1 is node 1 and DELLS2 is node 2 of cluster
Oracle is currently running in DELLS2 and this is what happen whe I try to move it to DELLS1
