Weird wsdl quirk in IE

I've got a list of categories that I display. When the user
selects a category it calls a webservice to fetch the results for
that category, pretty straightforward. We see some odd behavior in
IE when you click the categories in quick succession one after the
other (however I disable the selector after each click until the
result returns so you cant go super click happy, each call takes
1-3 secs to return)...sometimes it returns no results. Its a
totally sporadic error, it probably only occurs once every 20-25
times and we've only been able to produce it in IE (both 6 and 7),
never in FF. I ran fiddler to try to diagnose the problem and
here's what I found.
Each webservice call is by necessity two calls, the discovery
call that fetches the wsdl and the method call where you call your
actual webservice method and get your results back. On the calls
that fail the wsdl call never goes thru which explains why we get
no results. But I'm not getting any errors either, I have an event
handler where I try to trap the error like this:
service.addEventListener( FaultEvent.FAULT, gotoError );
but nothing...this sounds like a flash player issue in
IE...anyone ever experienced this or can an Adobe guru chime in?
thanx

From the plug-in developer guide.. are you doing the following ??
========
To strongly enforce the version update, it is recommended that the applet deployer use the cache_version attribute.
If cache_version is used, applet caching will be updated if the cache_version for the cache_archive is larger than the one stored locally in the applet cache. Note that the version number is used for triggering an update; there is no actual version number attached to the .jar file on the web server. In fact, unless version is used to trigger an update, it is possible the applet on the web server could be updated without the applet in cache_archive.
Using cache_version eliminates the need to connect to the web server to obtain "Modification-Date" and "Content-Length" of the cache_archive. In most cases this will speed up performance.

  • Weird WSDL

    I made a CFC that runs great locally. But when I try to
    publish it as a web service I get this weird error
    If the requested WSDL document can't be retrieved or it is
    dynamically generated, it is likely that the target web service has
    programming errors.
    Fatal Error: URI=null Line=5: Comment must start with
    "<!--".
    When I look at the webservice (eg. myService.cfc?wsdl) It
    shows this line jammed inside the wsdl file :
    <!-- WSDL created by Macromedia ColdFusion MX version
    7,0,1,116466
    Why would my helpful CF server start inserting comments? Is
    this a version problem?

    Here's how I was able to resolve my issue. I was calling my
    cfc that lives on a machine running the development version of
    ColdFusion from another test server. It turned out I had reached
    the two client access limit. I cleared this up by rebooting my
    developer machine everything works fine. Not sure if this helps
    with your problem.

  • Weird keyboard quirks since installing Lion

    Ever since installing Lion, my keyboard has been acting weird.
    I can't quite figure out what's going on. So far, I've just discovered a few weird things, like:
    I can't use left shift to capitalize T, though it can capitalize every other letter, and I can capitalize it with right shift. What?
    Normally I use cmd-shift-[ or cmd-shift-] to switch through tabs in Google Chrome. I can't use the right cmd to activate this, and I can only use it to select the previous tab, with [. Also tried adding cmd-shift-] as a shortcut in sys prefs, but it won't accept it.
    The sys prefs F1-12 behavior preference is flipped from what it should be.
    I'm sure there will be more, but that's just what I've discovered so far. There are no hardware issues with any keys. Restarting doesn't help. I'm totally baffled.

    @willadler,
    Check to see if this issue is occuring system-wide by creating a test account (System Preferences > Users & Groups).  After creating a new account and logging in as that new user, does the issue still occur?  If so, then it might be a system-wide Login Item, so try Safe Boot to be sure, however, if the keyboard works fine in that new user account, then try the following:
    • Delete (or Move) the following files from your home folder:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist.lockfile
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist.lockfile
    • Logout and log back in for the changes to take effect, and test the keyboard (NOTE: deleting the above files will reset much of the customizations you have made in System Preferences, so I'd recommend Moving them to the Desktop in case you need to restore them)

  • Can't install Tiger on Yikes - kind of weird

    I've had people trying to help me with this over at macosx.com, and so far no luck. Maybe you guys can figure this one out.
    I have a Yikes G4, 512MB RAM, 40GB hardrive, DVD-ROM, right now running OS 9.2.2. I've run everything from OS 8.6 through 10.2.8 on this computer. I'm trying to install Tiger, but I'm having a problem.
    When I put the Tiger disk in, I get the "resart to install" dialog box. I hit the restart button, the computer restarts, gives the normal chime, then nothing. Black screen, I can see it access the DVD drive for a few seconds, then it just sits there. The computer is on, it doesn't shut down, but it never gets to the point where the moniter comes on.
    If I restart and hold the C key, same thng happens, black screen. The computer will not finish booting unless I restart and get the Tiger DVD out of the drive before the computer looks for it. Then it boots from the hard drive normally. Can't hold Option key for Startup Manager, not supported on the Yikes. Can't use Startup Disk Control panel to choose Tiger, same thing happens, black screen. Can't use Target Disk Mode, not supported on Yikes.
    The DVD drive is a stock Apple DVD-ROM originally out of a Sawtooth model. The Yikes will boot from an OS 9 CD, and just for the heck of it, I tried my Jaguar grey system specific DVD from my TiBook, and it boots with that DVD no problem, too. It PLAYS the Tiger DVD no problem, just will not boot from it.
    Here's what I've tried so far, not necessarily in this order:
    1. Reset PMU.
    2. Reset PRAM.
    3. Removed Apple factory stock Adaptec 2930 SCSI card.
    4. Removed 3rd party RAM, stole Apple stock 256MB stick out of Sawtooth to bring it back up to 512MB.
    5. Checked for firmware updates, Yikes doesn't need one.
    6. Unplugged ethernet.
    7. Unplugged everything but moniter, keyboard, mouse.
    8. Checked hard drive with Disk Utility from OS 9 and Jaguar disks, drive appears okay.
    I tried different DVDs in different computers to make sure they do work. Yikes will boot from Jaguar DVD and OS 9 CD, so it is a bootable drive. Tiger DVD will boot (and install, family pack) from DVD both the TiBook and the Sawtooth, so my Tiger disk seems fine. It is the retail (universal) black Tiger DVD.
    I can't find this specific problem in the knowledge base or searching the forums. And I seem to have stumped the folks over at macosx.com. Anybody have any ideas that I haven't tried yet?
    TiBook 1Ghz, 1GB RAM Matshita UJ-845S 8x Dual Layer; Sawtooth w/1.2 GHz owc upgrade, Yikes, etc.   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi TMM,
    The Tiger DVD is the black boxed retail universal version. It's not a grey system-specific version. (However, the Yikes will boot from a grey system-specific DVD for my TiBook. Go figure).
    I knew for OS X I didn't need a firmware upgrade, but someone suggested that maybe there could be an older upgrade (this computer came with OS 8.6). I didn't find anything like that.
    This Mac meets all the requirements for Tiger. All external devices and ethernet have been disconnected. Removed all third party RAMI just . I even removed the stock PCI SCSI card factory installed by Apple. Everything else is stock. No other cards, no processor upgrades. (However, I have a heavily modded Sawtooth that boots to this Tiger DVD no problem. Three hard drives, one of them running from an ATA PCI card, 5 port USB PCI card, 16x Dual Layer DVD burner, and OWC 1.3GHz processor upgrade...go figure again.)
    I just ran out yesterday and got a new battery to see if that would help. Reset PMU and PRAM again after it was installed, no difference.
    I'm pretty familiar with the installation instructions, but I've gone back over them just in case. There's no mention of anything like this. Like I said before, this seems to have stumped the folks over at macosx.com, too. I'm beginning to think there's some weird little quirk in this particular machine.
    Thanks for trying, though!

  • Playing real instruments

    When I connect my electric guitar to my MBP via the input jack on the left hand side I cannot hear the amp simulation until after recording and only during playback. In other words, I have to imagine what the guitar sounds like while playing and hope that im doing it right. I have connected the guitar directly to the computer as well as connection through my Fender amp with the same results. I want to know if there is a way to hear my instrument play in Garage Band during the actual recording. I would like to be able to connect the guitar through the amp as I have better control over the sound than using the simulators in GB. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

    I have been where you are, and i love that you use the same method i do, it is so cheap. (you are just using a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter right? i got mine at radio shack for less than 5 dollars.)
    and there is good news, you don't need a special unit for this. there are a few things you have to do.
    first, make sure you have "monitor" turned on. it is on the right of the screen.
    it is in the box above the details area where you change effect parameters.
    then on the input, make sure you have channel 1 selected. channel 1 is mono and if it isnt selected then all the sound is on the left headphone or speaker and it is really annoying. (maybe you already know this, or you like the sound on the left, but just in case)
    when you are using this method, and also depending on how powerful of a system you have, there will be a pretty noticeable lag (or latency as they call it) from the time at which you are playing your guitar to the moment you hear it being played back on your system. any effects you are using worsens this. but the good thing is that garage band sometimes will forget about that. it really just goes in and out, but a great way to ensure really fast latency is dedicating your system to garageband, and dedicating garageband to one track.
    another thing... if you create the track and then just turn the monitor on, usually it wont work. you have to record for a few seconds, stop, and then you will hear your monitor.
    this should solve your problems as far as hearing what you are recording.
    but let me mention some other things, just to help you through the process of learning GB.
    garage band is really finicky. for example, if you have 2 tracks with matrix reverb playing at the same time it creates a very loud static noise. one day i discovered that if you lock one of the tracks this solves the problem because it isolates it and the effects aren't, for lack of a better term, bouncing off each other.
    these weird little quirks are throughout garage band's programming. there are always things you have to just figure out in garage band, i guarantee there isn't a section in the manual about using a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter.
    good luck with garage band my friend, and if you have more questions feel free to ask, i logged on today to ask a question of my own so im still an idiot.

  • Question about bluetooth and iPhone

    I want to play my songs on my Bluetooth. Technically I can, when I'm on the phone, if I access my iPod, the songs will then play on my Bluetooth (drowning out the person talking). But if I can listen to music on the bluetooth then, why not all the time? I can't hear the other person when it's playing, so that's not good. Well sometimes. Obviously I have some people I don't like hearing go on and on and on and on, which is how I found this feature out in the first place, LOL.
    Anyway, anyone know how this is accomplishable? Or is it just another instance of a weird iPhone quirk. Like having a landscape key board for the internet, but not for text messaging?

    when one connects a wires headset it it mutes the internal speaker
    when one connects a bluetooth headset it mutes the internal speaker and any wired connected headsets

  • Printing issues in CS4

    We recently upgraded to CS4 from CS2 (Mac 10.5.7), and we've noticed a weird printing quirk that has never occured before. On two different Macs in our art dept, we have the occasional problem with files that were sent to one printer ending up on another. For example, our film outputter is run through a RIP program on a PC with 4 units. I just sent four files to Unit 2; two of the four files ended up on Unit 3. A coworker sent a file to Unit 3, and it ended up on a laser printer totally unassociated with the RIP. Neither of us ever experienced this problem running CS2. Also, for what it's worth, my coworker is running is software on Mac 10.5.5, so I don't think it has anything to do with any Apple updates.
    We upgraded a couple weeks ago, but only just started utlizing the multiple artboards. I considered this as a cause (in some fashion), but some of the files I've sent had just a single artboard (also, this problem just started occurring within the last few days).
    Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you work around it?

    Yeah, as you'll see in that other thread, this affected us here with CS3 running on 10.4.x  I'm disappointed to hear it's still happening in CS4...
    It happened quite a bit when we first moved to CS3, but seems to have mostly gone away on it's own.  My cube neighbor says that he had it happen about a month ago, but other than that, I don't think it's happened other than that in the past 6 months.
    Is there anything unique about the files that it's happening with?

  • Weird quirk about java / swing

    I have a class that extends JComponent but is still abstract (I added some abstract methods to this class). The weird thing is that I get a warning about not having a serialize ID defined! Anyone else think that's kind of a bug / quirk?

    It says "use serialVersionUID from JDK 1.0.2 for interoperability" If you want to supress the warning use annotation
    Now the reason behind this is that your class is implementing java.io.Serializable if you do not want your class to be serializable then remove this market interface otherwise you can do the following to supress the warning
    @SuppressWarnings( "serial" )public class Main implements Serializable {If you don't define it ("private static long serialVersionUID"), then, whenever the class is serialised / deserialised a serialVersionUID will be generated, and if the serialising generation does not match the deserialising generation,which will be generated from that JVM's version of the Class, the deserialisation will fail, even if the Class definitions where compatible. When we say the class is compatible which means the class has not been changed.
    I hope this make sense to you. If not please let me know.
    BTW, this is not a Swing question but rather annotation question. Can the moderator please remove this post. Thanks

  • Weird Finder Window quirk

    This is a new one. Woke my computer up from sleep with a Finder window in List view and the headings (Name, Date Modified, Size, Kind) appear in bold, something I've never seen before. They weren't that way last night when I went to sleep!
    And I would love to upload the screenshot I have, but the system won't let me. Hope that's descriptions clear enough.
    Any thoughts? Because this looks ugly right now.

    The sudo atsutil databases -remove command seemed to work then, two days ago, I'm running Time Machine and I got two different results when I opened up new windows. Attached are the screen shots!
    As you can see, at one point BOTH sets of headings were in bold, then 20 minutes later only ONE set of headings was in bold.
    It's just weird. Not causing any problems, just weird.

  • Weird problem with Axis in JBoss accessing WSDL

    Hi
    for an application, Axis web services are used and everything is running inside JBoss 4.0.2. The WSDL file is dynamically generated by Axis and clients are set up to get this WSDL file from the Service before making a call.
    Clients are making web service calls to the application and everything runs perfectly. However, after some time an error occurs which causes the WSDL file not being available any more. According to the error messages it looks like it can not find some classes, and looking at the Axis code (AxisServlet.java:226) this is where the PrintWriter is instantiated - which is not any special but usual Java class.
    The only solution so far is to restart the JBoss, after which the WSDL is available again.
    This behavior I can not understand - any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Using Insert/Images Objects/Navigation Bar - weird quirks

    DW CS4
    When I go to the above path in DW to add a navigation bar and add a few elements, the code produced seems fine (I'm talking strictyl about the sentence case of the code - all lowercase). Now if I go to Modify/Navigation Bar to add a few more elements, the additional code is now in a different case (it's in sentense case - first letter capital). For example:
    When I first insert a navigation bar, some resulting code is
    onmouseover="MM_nbGroup('over','home','','',1)"
    but when I go to modify the navigation bar, the additional code added now becomes
    onMouseOver="MM_nbGroup('over','galleries','','',1)"
    I know how to quickly find/replace to fix this, but this is just weird to me why DW would use two different sentence cases. Is that just a function of the software, or is there some setting I'm missing to make sure ALL code is in lowercase? I already have my default tag case <lowercase>
    Test it out yourself and let me know if anyone gets the same results or knows why this is happening.
    Thanks...
    I just noticed something else... on initial creation, the code includes id="", but when I modify/add to the nav bar, there is no id="" included (I have to manually add that code)... what the crap is going on??

    Unicode is the character set encoding -- not the same as DTD.
    I can't recreate your experience with DW on Windows Vista.
    Here's the code I get from DW -- same as before and after editing the menu...

  • Weird quirk

    In early 2013, I bought a refurbished late-2012 iMac (the latest model) from Apple direct. The iMac naturally ships with Apple's bluetooth-wireless keyboard and "magic mouse". The magic mouse's quirks were a little too much for me. I set it aside and purchased an Apple Trackpad.
    I have noticed something strange since I installed the Trackpad. I do not recall this problem before.
    I will be typing in a sentence or phrase (doesn't matter which app I'm using) and suddenly the cursor will jump to another line or paragraph. If I don't catch it right away and keep typing, I'll have part of one sentence mixed in with another.
    I have never experienced this before.
    I find both the Magic Mouse and the Trackpad will each very quickly drain a pair of Eneloops. Of course, I do alot of scrolling and other gestures.
    Is there something wrong? What can I do about it?

    Firstly check if you have any other electronic devices, mice, telephone base stations etc in the vicinity.  They (it) may be causing interference.   You haven't said how long is the drain period.   Here are a few notes I have put together on batteries and expectations.
    Whether you use regular or rechargeable batteries you should buy the best. Discounted or unbranded batteries are more likely to give a depleted performance and may be of irregular size, often leading to connection problems.   Apple’s own brand, Eneloop and Energiser appear to be the best.
    Rechargeable batteries for the standard Magic mouse are unlikely to exceed eighteen days before needing a recharge although the mouse itself can be a limiting factor.   I have seen reports that some Logitech mice vastly exceed this.    Apple may suggest more in their sales blurb but this is a realistic expectation.   The benefit (if you are organised) is that you can always have charged batteries available.   Regular batteries will give you between 25 and 35 days before they need to be replaced.
    Note.  Never mix old and new batteries or rechargeable and regular.
    Both the above are based on my personal experience, not shutting down my machine and using it for around four hours per day.   Note.   Monitors do not always faithfully report battery strength, particularly with rechargeable ones.
    When checking your mouse or keyboard batteries ...
    Turn off the device.
    Remove the batteries,
    Clean the terminals both inside the battery compartment and on the batteries themselves.
    Replace or renew both batteries.
    Turn on the device.   You should get a blinking green light if the device is paired.
    Click the mouse to activate it.  The green light becomes steady.

  • PL/SQL web services - WSDL file generation weirdness

    Hi there,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 to generate web services from PL/SQL packages.
    I noticed a strange behavior regarding the generated xmlns mappings in the WSDL file. Sometimes it is generated like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <wsdl:definitions
         name="CSOHSServices"
         targetNamespace="http://apps/CSOHSServices.wsdl"
         xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"
         xmlns:tns="http://apps/CSOHSServices.wsdl"
         xmlns:tns0="http://apps/CSOHSServices.wsdl/types/"
        >
        <wsdl:message name="CSOHSServices_getAssetsIwResponse">
            <wsdl:part name="result" type="tns0:XxpoCsoHsAssetRecUserArray"/>  <==== HERE
        </wsdl:message>
    ...Then, if I re-generate the web service, without changing anything, it is generated like this:
        <wsdl:message name="CSOHSServices_getAssetsIwResponse">
            <wsdl:part name="result" type="tns:XxpoCsoHsAssetRecUserArray"/>  <==== HERE
        </wsdl:message>
    Note that instead of tns0 the type attribute now points to tns.
    I have other code that relies on the xmlns mappings and I have to keep changing it to reflect what is generated. This is driving me crazy!
    Any explanation why this happens and/or how to fix it so the WSDL is always generated the same way?
    Thanks
    Luis

    Thanks for your answer, Timo.
    After briefly googling the term ojdeploy I found out that it is a utility for "building and deploying applications via the command line without starting JDeveloper" - exactly what I need actually.
    What I have just tried is to create a build.xml from my project. It worked. In build.xml I found information like compile java source file and copy to a certain directory. I have already seen similar information in .jpr and .jws (how a WAR is created, what are the names of deployment descriptors, how the war is packaged to EAR and so on).
    But the starting point of my development are not the java sources but a pl/sql package -> the java sources and deployment descriptors are created by Jdev like described in the first post. Still, I haven't found an ant task for creating java and deployment descriptor from pl/sql package (don't know if it works also with pl/sql sources?).
    (1) Could you please provide a hint where to search for all ant tasks shipped with jdev? Or I rather expect that those ant tasks are generated depending on user input...
    (2) Is there an ant task for the function pl/sql to java like described in the first post? Just noticed that in jdev 11.1.2.3 the name of the dialog differs that in the first post -> first post referencing 11.1.1.6. In 11.1.2.3 the name is "Publish as JAX-RPC Web Service..." when right-clicking on a DB package.
    (3) If there is no such ant task and jdev is doing the magic internally via a java class, is it a way to call such a function via console? I assume a shipped jar needs to be unzipped...
    Thanks in advance for any hint.
    Kind regards,
    Anton

  • Weird quirk with PHP

    So I made an address book using PHP and DW8. Something
    strange happens when I enter an individuals name in. The persons
    last name is "Anderson" but I found that I only need to enter
    "Anders" for this error to occur:
    Joe AndersPHP Notice: Undefined variable: row_companies in
    c:\inetpub\wwwroot\contacts\details.php on line 155
    I have no problems with the dozensof other names and
    companies I have entered but this one gives me the issue. Any
    ideas?

    It means that your script is trying to use a variable called
    $row_companies. Without knowing the rest of your script, it's
    only a
    guess, but since "Joe Anders" doesn't exist, you're probably
    getting an
    empty recordset.

  • Weird quirk in itunes, scanning through a song..

    when iTunes is in full screen mode if you hold down the forward button it scans through the song just fine, but when you have the mini player displayed, when you hold the forward button it scans for about a second then goes to playing normal. It wont scan through a song.
    Has anyone else experienced this, or can anyone verify this?
