Wet54g

I have problems setting up my network bridge i am trying to connect a wrt350n And a wrt150N with a wet54G. The only traffic between the two will be internet acsess. So i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to set it up?
Right now i am running everything on default.

Sorry i did not get your issue ..... let me know in brief the kind of setting you required ....

  • How do I use my WET54g with a wireless system that asks for username & password

Hotels and other systems let you use theiur wireless for a fee.  You go onto your wireless laptop, and it automatically goes to a page where you pay and sign up (or it asks for a username and password), once that is done, you can use the network.
How do I allow my WET54g to know this password information, and work on the network?
    thanks
    Michael

The WET54g allows you to accept a wireless signal and connect it to a wired hub.  I want to intercept the wireless signal and use it on my hub.
I know I can use one computer if I connect to the signal using my laptop's wireless card, but I want the WET54g to accept the signal.
For example, currently at my office, I use the WET54g to intercept a wireless signal from the front of my building, to the back of my building about 300ft away (this way I didnt have to run wires).  The WET54g then is hooked up to a hub/switch where I have a bunch of other computers/servers.  Everything from the front of my building and back of the building are joined using this WET54g.  The WET54g is set up to find the signal from the front of my building, and therefore it works fine.
I want to use the hotel signal, the same way, except there is no way to enter in the username/password into the WET54g, or maybe there is..  Does this make sense to you?

  • WET54G v3.1 Will not accept the default password for web setup

    The setup:
1 2WIRE wireless router for AT&T DSL connection
1 wireless laptop, online and good to go
1 desktop, too far from router to connect with an ethernet cable, this computer does not have wi-fi
1 new WET54G v3.1, trying to setup as a wireless-ethernet bridge to get the wired desktop on the network and online
I have set up the desktop with static IP: 192.168.1.1; Subnet 255.255.255.0; Gateway 192.168.1.226.  The WET54G is directly connected to the desktop.  I open Internet Explorer and go to 192.168.1.226.  After entering the password "admin" and leaving the username blank, the login prompt simply reappears as if the password is incorrect.  I have reset the WET54G to factory defaults numerous times (held the reset button for over 30 seconds).  It simply will not accept the password.
Any suggestions?  I tried live chat but the chat window was so slow and buggy that both times it seemed we were about to make progress the window would freeze up or refresh entirely and disconnect me.  Extremely frustrating to say the least.
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi brickmonkey,
Sorry for taking so long to get back on this.  We left for a long vacation and I got ridiculously busy when we got back.  ANyway I just spent some time working on this and wanted to report back.  Still didn't get it to work.
Got into the 2Wire and wrote down it's settings:
    Router Address: 192.168.1.254
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: (???) I did not see this under the summary page, but it was on the internet connection details page., it's a 151.x.x.x number, which the WET54G was not happy to accept as the default gateway.  It gave me the error "DUT and Gateway cannot locate in different subnet."  Also, on that internet connection details page, an additional subnet mask of 255.255.255.255 was listed, but I'm guessing 255.255.255.0 is the correct one to use, right?
Because it wouldn't accept that 151.x.x.x address, I can't get any farther.  I did notice when setting up the SSID and security to match that of the 2WIRE, the channel was fixed at 6 and the dropdown was disabled.  I changed the 2WIRE from 1 to 6 in case that was an issue.  The WET54G is in Infrastructure mode, as the guide you linked to indicated.
Any thoughts with this new info?
Thanks again for your help with this,
    Sean

  • Web-based utility will not load on new wet54g ethernet bridge

I just got a WET54g ethernet bridge to connect my bluray player to my existing network (wrt54gs router).  I cannot get the setup cd to recognize the bridge connected to the laptop or the router.  I thought that it would be no problem, just use web-based set-up.  When attempting to access 192.168.1.226 I have to enter the password three times and then a blank page is loaded.  Chat support ended up getting disconnected, so no luck there.  Supposedly some of the steps chat wallked me through updated the firmware through ftp download, but I feel like nothing was done since you can't access the set-up page. Any suggestions are welcome.  I'm running vista if that helps.

Start it from Scratch...Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your WET54G(ethernet bridge), wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your WET54G(ethernet bridge)...Follow the link here to re-configure the WET54G(ethernet bridge)...Also under the configuration type select Static IP Address : For IP Address enter : 192.168.1.226, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 and save the settings...
After doing these you can unplug the Ethernet Bridge from the router and power cycle your router and the ethernet bridge both...Connect your ethernet bridge to your bluray player and test for active connection...

  • How to enable Channel 13 on WET54g

I am using it in Europe and need to enable channel 13 so I can connect to a network on this channel.  I vaguely remember being told this was done by accessing a hidden setup page.  Can anyone tell me how to enable channel 13 on a WET54g V3.1?

    >> Generally, devices bought in the U.S. can only be used in the U.S.
This seems to me like poor and outdated policy. It reminds of times when you could not take a laptop to Europe because the power supply was only for 110 V.  Most manufacturers have moved to simplifying things for the customer and for themselves by making models more universal.
    >> Flashing other firmware may brick the device. You can never rule that out.
    >> Flashing European firmware should not cause problems.
    >> Possibly it won't accept it but usually hardware versions between countries are identical.
You say it should "not cause problems" but "may brick the device". I would consider a bricking the device to be a "problem".  I guess I can interpret it to mean that damage is unlikely but possible.  It gives me pause as I do not want to risk bricking it.
The device label says it is WET54g V 3.1  At the US site http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/bridges/WET54G the choice for hardware version only goes up to V 3.0. Puzzling.
At the European site http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-eu/support/bridges/WET54G/download I found support for version 3.1. Interesting and puzzling since my 3.1 is American.
There, in the EU site, I found a file named WET54Gv3_1_v2d16.zip which contains two files:
    - wet54gv3_v2d16_us_20091027.img
    - wet54gv3_v2d16_ce_20091027.img
There is no explanation in the release notes of which one to use. The names differ only in two characters: us/ce.  I would assume "us" is for USA but what would "ce" be? I was expecting something like "uk" or "eu".  I am guessing the ce version is for Europe but I want to be sure before I start messing.  I have never flashed anything and I have no idea of the degree of risk involved.
You can reload it with this firmware wet54gv3_v2d16_ce_20091027.img.

  • WET54G v3.1 problems

We are using WET54G’s as clients in a community WiFi distribution system. From the ADSL connection there is a 4 km point to point link up to a relay before working another 2 to 4 km across a valley. The point to point and access point are Cisco Aironet 1300 series and are currently running 20 WET54G with serial numbers in the range BDY20…, BDY30…, BDY40…. But when we get to serial number BDY41… they refuse to connect. The firmware was 2.03 and have tried upgrading to 2.07 and down to 1.08
I have 5 units with the same problem so it doesn’t seem to be just a faulty unit.
    Anyone know what happened between BDY40 & 41 ?

No, we spent about a month trying. During this time we used a WRT v5 running DD-WRT and a WRT54GL running OpenWRT to get us out of a hole. We were so pleased with the results, we have stayed with the WRT54GL and DD-WRT. For us, a useful feature of DD-WRT was the ability to reduce Tx power when using a high gain antenna and keep legal. All our pre v3.1 are operating without a problem, the 3.1's were sold off.

  • WET54G to connect a WRT54G and WAP54G?

I currently live in western Uganda where we have set up a wireless network to share a satellite ISP connection (between houses separated by about 100 meters).
The system has been previously configured as follows (the ISP requires that we use their set of Static IPaddresses).
Our old system looked like this (and this wireless network has worked for us for about 5 years!)
    WAP54G (call it #1)
WAP54G  v.2  (call it #2)  - this one is connected to the satellite gateway via Ethernet 8-port Linksys switch
     WAP54G ( #1)
    IP Address  172.16.148.204
    Subnet 255.255.255.224
    Gateway   172.16.148.193
    Mode: AP
    Channel - 6
    SSID: CCRouter
    WAP54G (#2)
    IP address 172.16.148.199
    Subnet mask 255.255.255.255.224
    gateway 172.16.148.193
    Mode: Client
    channel 6
    SSID: CCRouter
The WAP54G #1 allowed us to disconnect the standard small rear antennas and connect large external parabolic antennas (via coaxial cables) which could be roof mounted and allow distant houses to catch the broadcasted wireless signal.
In a rainstorm, the WAP54G#1 died.
So, all we have now is a WRT54G which does not have disconnect-able rear antennas.  We do have , however, a WET54G Ethernet bridge.
The WET54G has a connector which will allow us to connect to a roof-mountable unidirectional rod antenna via coax cable.  The WET54G can connect to the WRT54G via Ethernet cable.
The current settings are as follows:
    1
     IP address 172.16.148.204
     Subnet 255.255.255.224
     Gateway 172.16.148.193
    Mode: AP
    Channel - 6
    SSID - CCRouter
    2
     IP Address: 172.16.148.199
     Subnet 255.255.255.224
    Gateway 172.16.148.193
    Mode: Client
    Channel 6
    SSID CCRouter
(connected to the satellite gateway via the Ethernet 8port switch)
    BRIDGE
    172.16.148.212
      255.255.255.255.224
    gateway 172.16.148.193
    channel 6
    SSID CCRouter
    Mode infrastructure
BUT THIS IS NOT WORKING.  The WRT54G (#1) can connect to the Internet (through the Client) when in CLOSE Range to the Client (WAP54G #2), but the Bridge does not seem connected to the Client WAP (the Ethernet light on the Bridge is constant indicating that the Ethernet connection is OK, but the Wireless light does not blink (no connection)..
    Thoughts?
    Thank you.

Are you able to go online when you connect the computer to the bridge directly...?
On which port you have connected the bridge to the router..? It should be on the Ethernet port.

  • WRT54GS router to WET54G bridge question, bridge connect to a wired router?

    Hello Everyone,
I have a Wireless-G LAN set up using a WRT54GS router.  The existing wireless devices on the LAN are 2 PCs, a TiVo unit (using the TiVo wireless adapter), and 2 WET54G wireless bridges.  One bridge connects by ethernet wire to a LAN printer.  The other bridge connects by ethernet wire to a Sony BDP-S550 Blu-Ray player.
The security is WPA2-AES.  so far all of that works OK, believe it or not, though I grew a lot older making it happen.
Now here's what I'd like to do: I'd like to add another wired LAN device where the second WET54G bridge connects to the Blu-Ray player.  The bridge only has one ethernet wire connection, so I have to come up with some other way to get the two devices connected to the wireless LAN.
I have two other LinkSys devices kicking around here that I can use.  One is a BEFSR41 wired Router.  The other is a WAP54G wireless Access Point.   If I can use one or both of those somehow, I won't have to buy another device.  That's the agenda so far.
Right now it looks like this:
WRT54GS Router wireless to WET54G Bridge wire to WAN input of BEFSR41 Router wires to the two LAN devices.
I'm having trouble making this work, assuming it can even be done.  Can I get this config to work, or do I have to add the Access Point where the bridge is now, or.... ?
    Thanks for your time,
    Big Al Mintaka
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You already have a network working with your existing devices. What you are trying to include in your network is possible and can be done. Instead of connecting the cable from the WET54G to the WAN port on the router, connect the cable the LAN port on the router. Disable the DHCP  and change the lan ip in the range of your existing network. It should work.

  • WET54G + AX + HP 120nr + NetDisk

Finally, I got a NetDisk (NDAS). For some strange reason, it didn't work with my Linksys WET54G wireless eithernet bridge. The good news is, it's plug-and-play with my remote AirPort Express base station. I was hoping to use the WET54G with the NetDisk. Anyway, I'm happy with the AX/NDAS pairing.
So, the WET54G is hooked up to my network printer i.e. HP Designjet 120nr
I have no problems printing to the printer with my MBP either in Mac OS X and Windows XP via Bonjour.
On my PPC mac mini, I could add the hp 120nr via Bonjour. But I can never seem to print to it. I can't even bring out the web configuration. Yes, I assigned the printer with a static IP address. I tried IPP printing and LPD but they can't seem to detect the correct driver like Bonjour.
    What could be the issue?
    Help?
    Thanks,

Okay, these two threads are for references of what I'm yakking about.

  • WET54G Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge

    Hi,
My plan is this: I have an existing wireless network, router by Siemens. I have bought the WET54G wireless network bridge, because I have an ethernet  network camera which I want to include in my wireless network. So, it's camera => cable => WET54G => wireless => router => internet. I then want to access the camera from my computer (wirelessly)
I wire the WET54G to the router and I am able to access it and configure it to connect to my wireless network. I can do that with WPA and infrastructure OR WEP and ad-hoc network. I use the standard static IP address, which I specify in the router's settings.
Problem 1:  Once the WET54G is not connected by cable, it does connect to the wireless network, but I can't access it anymore under the static IP, no chance to change any further settings. I played around with advanced settings, but nothing worked.
Problem 2: When I connect the camera via cable to the WET54G, the LED on the camera shows that it is online, but I can't see the camera anywhere on the network. When I connect the camera directly to the router, it works perfectly, I also use a static IP.  I tried to connect an older laptop, not wireless, to the WET54G, it does not connect to the existign wireless network. via the WET54G. I tried MAC cloning, ad-hoc networks, nothing works.
What do I need to do to connect a non-wireless device to my existing wireless network via the WET54G bridge and how can I access the bridge once it's connected wirelessly ?
    Many thanks.
    Mike

First thing which you need to check if the Wireless MAC filter on your Router is Enable Or Disable.
If you disable the Wireless MAC filter on your Router and still it doesn't work then i think you need to upgrade the firmware of your Router. Download the firmware from the Linksys Website for WET and upgrade it. Once the firmware upgrade is completed successfully then you need to reset WET and re-configure all the settings on WET again.

  • WET54G locking up - requires reset / reboot

    Hello all
We use (10) WET54Gs at separate locations to provide network connectivity to our copiers.  All of the units are V2 with the latest updates.  Each WET54G will lock up after random period of time, usually a few weeks, and then require a reset/reboot to reestablish  communication.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Have any suggestions on a fix?
I would think this is a hardware of firmware problem since they have a perfect track record of 10 out of 10 units repeatedly locking up.
    Thanks

Well i dont think all the 10 units of WET54G will have the same problem. May be you must try to check the settings of your wireless router, if required try to upgrade the firmware of your Router.

  • WET54G does not seem to make WRT300N signal better

    Greetings,
A friend of mine is using a WRT300N, firmware v0.93.3, as his router for both wireless and wired connections. The signal does not reach the other side of his house for whatever reason. The router is less than 25 feet from the other side of the house but the signal does not reach, so he purchased a WET54G. I set it up for him, while it was hardwired to one of the computers, then I unplugged it and moved it about 15 feet or so away from the WRT300N and kept it wireless. It does not seem to make the signal any better at the other side of the house. I went into the WET54G's settings and performed the Site Survey, selected the WRT300N's SSID and everything seemed to connect just fine. Is there anything else to this? What else could I try to make this signal better? I feel that there is probably some obstacles in the way of the signal, like an electrical breaker room and an air conditioning unit, as well as some dry wall, but I didn't think that would make a big deal. Anyway, here is some pertinent information about the devices, maybe my settings are just not right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also any recommendations on antenna's would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.
    WET54G:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Message Edited by MeGGa on 04-21-200705:44 PM

I am a little confused by your post.  Are you using the WET to receive a wireless connection from the WRT300N, or are you trying to use the WET to retransmit the wireless signal, and thereby increase your wireless range?   The WET is designed only to receive a signal, then pass it along an ethernet wire to the computer's ethernet port.
The WET54G is set to an improper fixed LAN IP address.  Fixed (static) LAN IP addresses must be OUTSIDE the DHCP server range.  Your DHCP server range is 192.168.0.100  thru 192.168.0.109.    I would suggest you set your WET to 192.168.0.226  (similar to its default), unless you have another device at that address.  At least get it out of your DHCP server range.   Because 192.168.0.226 is automatically recognized as a fixed LAN IP address, you do not need to make a "DHCP Reservation" for it.    Additionally, the gateway on the WET should be the same as the WRT300N's address, 192.168.0.1
I'm not sure why you are getting such a poor wireless range.  However, there is no reason to expect the WET54G to have any more range than an ordinary wireless g card, unless you have put a high gain antena on it, like the HGA7S.
Your WRT300N would be expected to have its best range if the computer that you were connecting to used a Linksys wireless N adapter.
Also, make sure your WRT300N is properly located.  Try to minimize the obstructions between the router and computer.  Make sure the router is placed in an open area, and several feet up off the floor.   Do not place it behind your computer monitor, or with other obstructions around it.  The antennas should be verticle.  I am not sure of how to position that square antenna - perhaps twisting it to the right or left might help.
Make sure the WRT300N has a unique SSID.  Do not use "linksys".  Do not use any SSID that your neighbors are using.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, Bluetooth (including Bluetooth game controllers), microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, and your neighbor's wireless network. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, you might want to try separating your own channels.  I see you are using 3 and 5.   Maybe further apart would help.
    Hope this helps.

  • Linksys WET54G problem

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Linksys WET54G ethernet bridge.
Every time I set it up and then try and use it I don't get a connection.
    This is my setup
iMac Snow G3 600MHz running OSX 10.2.8 connected via ethernet to
Linksys WET54G ethernet bridge which connects to
BT Voyager 2091 wireless modem router.
I can set the network connection preferences so I can get to the Linksys WET54G setup page and can see my wireless network.
When I close that browser and then change the network connection preferences to set the IP address using DHCP then I can't connect.
The Mac keeps assigning itself an IP address.
The WET54G does work OK - I'm writing this using a Win2000 PC connected to it.
Why does the iMac assign itself an IP address instead of using one from the modem/router?
    Any help appreciated.
    Regards
    Jeremy Young

    Hi,
Well here I am replying to my own post, just in case it help someone else in the future
I did get this combo to work:
I used a static IP address in the WET54 - something like 192.168.1.60
Then I use a static IP address in the Mac - something like 192.168.1.65
I also added the router IP address as the gateway - 192.168.1.1
And finally I added the DNS server from my router - I found this by going to the router setup and selecting manual DNS - and copying the numbers there.
Now everything is OK and I can surf without wires!

  • WET54G V3.1 wireless bridge JTAG restore

Hello! Few days before I bought a "died" WET54G and I'm committed to bring it back to life. The seller guy said he failed the flashing. The main problem that the WB restarts five seconds after the power led stopped blinking. 30 sec factory reset does not help. After about 20-30 reboot it stops, looks like it works but cannot reach, cannot ping ect. After disassemble I found an amount of pin holes probably for JTAG. Where can I find anything about it (schematics any documentation how to do it) Thanks for the answers.

First of all check the firmware version in the bridge. Before accessing the WET54G’s web-based setup page, make sure the Ethernet Bridge is powered ON and that it’s wired to one of the Ethernet ports on the router (1, 2, 3 or 4). Make sure you have already installed the Wireless-G Ethernet Setup Wizard inside your computer with your installation CD that is provided along with the product before you can access the web-based setup page.
Here is the link to access the setup page of the Bridge: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=6bf4ec9e5c6e44618af5f50f91c49c59_4894.xml&pid=80&r...
If the firmware is old then download the latest firmware from the link: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/bridges/WET54G and upgrade it. After upgrading the firmware reset the bridge and then check the light status.
As well as try to ping the ip address of the bridge.
