What can't Verizon just be truthful to it's customers

Last night I had again one of the sales person lie about the product. My bill right now is 121 and some change. I was first lied to when they talked me into going to the 75/35 speed and my bill went from 121 to 167...so much for the 15.00 increase. I canceled that and they talked me into going to the 50/25 for only 10.oo. I asked if he could send me a email stating the increase of only 10.00 byt he said he couldn't. Verizon also has it locked out so you can't do a copy and paste...wonder why????? Anyway I told the sa;es person I didn't want to do over 131.00, and he stated it shouldn't. So this morning I get this email from Verizon, as you can see below it was more like a 25.00 increase not a 10.00 increase. Proof is in the puddin by what other customers are stating and they also have in black and white about the so called 10.00 increase for faster speed. It is more like a 20.00 to 40.00 increase. my bill went from 121 to 148....is my math wrong here or what..view below >>>

You're obviously not alone, hey_moe. This is apparently quite a standard practice. I am a long time and mostly satisfied FiOS customer. I was lied to both times I "signed" up for service. (And no, I don't mean I misunderstood.) My last experience was when I called Verizon to remove some movie channels. I stated that we were canceling them because we were already paying too much for our package and we didn't need them. The agent took that opportunity to review our account to see if he could save us any money. He said that he could save us at least 5-10 dollars a month if we upgraded to the Extreme channel package and Digital Voice. That sounded too good to be true, so we spent the better part of a half hour going line by line over the bill to make sure that he was correct. He kept repeating these lines over and over:
You'll be paying less than you are now.
You'll be getting more channels.
You won't lose any of your current services.
If you don't like it, you can cancel within 30 days and return to your previous package.
Sounded great. What did we have to lose?
Within 24 hours our MRDVR function stopped working. We figured it would return. It didn't. We called in. Found out that one of the main ways the agent had "saved" us money was canceling that service, even though we had specifically asked that question. We looked up online and saw that our estimated new bill was not 5-10 dollars less, but $15 more/month. That's not what we had agreed to. So 3 days after changing, we demanded to be switched back. Verizon's response was, "Sorry, your old plan isn't offered anymore. We can't switch you back."
Yes, livid doesn't begin to describe. It took several calls, many hours, and everything short of cussing the poor agents out to reach an acceptable compromise. So, no, your story doesn't surprise me in the least.

  • Why can't verizon tell the truth and fix my DSL for over a week

    On the 10th of January, I contacted Verizon Tech to let them know I had no DSL (the phone had previously been out, but I had had DSL).  They told me to wait an hour and restart the modem.  I did that to no avail.  I continued contacting them and they kept telling me there was an outage or the problem was my modem or such.  I tried to tell them that whatever repair they made, disconnected my DSL.  They sent a new modem, they sent a technician on Thursday -- still nothing -- called and was told they were replacing the PSA and it would be up by Saturday -- called Saturday, was told the replacement part did not function and they had a new part which would fix it by Monday.  Called Sunday, was told problem was fixed on Saturday (but I still had no internet) Then they said, it was being investigated by a team in the Central office and it should be on by tomorrow -- specifically checking circuit to Central Office.    Still today, no Internet (as I predicted would happen -- it's a holiday and I cannot get answers) and when I called, they want to send another Techinician TOMORROW to investigate.  It has been 4 days since the last Tech came, it was 4 days from the date I initially called before they sent a Tech -- now they want to send a DSL tech rather than a "phone tech".
    I truly believe they are trying to get me off of DSL since they don't want people on it (you cannot get back on it once off) because they want everyone to be on their EXPENSIVE FIOS system that costs over $50 a month versus my little $39 a month.  Of course, then they'll want me to get phone and TV to "bundle" and save $ -- which means my phone doesn't work during power outages after a few hours.
    How do you get to speak to someone in authority over service rather than people who are going by a book that says, "check to make sure the modem is plugged in" as though it is your first time using the system you have been on since 2005?  Why is the corporate office of Verizon hiding?  Where are the Vice Presidents and Manager to take charge and get things done -- out spending their HUGE Bonuses?

    I feel your pain. I had a technician come out twice, my moden replaced 3 times, and now my monthly cost has gone up but my internet speeds are not much improved.

    I already had an iPad(1) and its full contents (not only the purchased items, applications from Apple, but my all own pics, videos, songs etc.) is normally syncronized with an authorized PC (Windows) computer.
    Now,  I've bought a new MacBook Air computer, and want to sell my PC. But I don't know how to transfer (or syncronize) all of the contents from my previous iTunes on PC to the new one on the Mac.
    When I connected my iPad to my new MacBook Air, I promted, if I want to change authorization of my iPad to the MacBook.
    But also got a warning, that the new iTunes will delete from my iPad all my previously syncronized items, pics, videos and music, with the previously authorized  iTunes on the previous computer, expect the saved pics from the net.
    What can I do just like that, simply  to keep all my previous contents on my iPad, but have a new authorisation and a right syncronization, without data loss with the new  iTunes on my new Mac?

    Here are some instructions that I have posted several times that may be helpful to you as they have been to others. You can simply ignore anything that does not apply or that you have already done.
    As Alan stated above - transferring the iTunes library is the best first step. If you can transfer the iTunes library to the Mac, most of this will be unecessary for you to do.
    Very Important ....
    1. Authorize the computer.
    2. Turn off auto sync in iTunes
    3. Transfer purchases

    The following was copied from this thread. This is essentially what you want to accomplish.

    1) Without connecting your iPad to your new computer, start iTunes. Click on iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your computer and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your computer, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
    If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
    Read this thread and the support links as well. There are apps that you can purchase that will allow you to transfer photos from the iPad to your computer. Look at Photo Transfer App in the App store and you can search for others as well.

    The unlock of ANY device is accomplished BETWEEN the wireless server and apple. PLEASE understand that without the wireless carrier agreeing that it is in their best interest to unlock your device they will NOT unlock the device.  If the device has met all critirum AND you are the registered owner of the device there should be NO REASON why the wireless carrier will not unlock the device. But please appreciate the fact that in this security laden world we live in each and EVERY business errs on the side of the customer whenever there is an issue of protecting said customer.

    Apple doesn't call its portable machines 'notebooks' instead of 'laptops' for nothing - using a MacBook Pro in your lap can cause some burns on your skin, poor ventilation, etc. So use it on a hard flat surface - not your lap, pillows, bedclothes, etc.
    As for burning a hole in your screen, you'll have to revisit the Apple Store and see how much they would charge for a new screen. It's likely to be a bit expensive.
    And if you've Safari set to re-open tabs when you restart, you can disable this feature -> Safari-Preferences-General.

    If you're on windows try the following:
    This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
    1. Quit itunes
    2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
    3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
    4. press ENTER
    5. Reboot your machine
    6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync
    7. Good luck

    I had this happen back in December/January. I sold my MBP that I used to subscribe to iTunes Match back in December. In January, I bought a used MB and tried to use iTunes Match on it. I was told I had to wait nearly two months to use it on the new computer. I waited and was finally able to use it in the new computer.\
    Sadly, this has more to do with the content providers (Record lables / movie studios) than it has to do with Apple impsoing the restrictions.

    I have just opened what i think is a fake email. It said please see attached copy of the original invoice. It then Had a single zip file beneath the text.

    Highlight the movie, go to iTunes menu ADVANCED and select create iPad and AppleTV version.
