What display do I have CCFL or LED? T400 1440x900

I have a T400 with a 1440x900 display (according to device manager).  Unfortunately I scuffed the screen and I would like to repalce it.  My screen has the Matte finish, not glossy.  How do I tell if I have a CCFL or LED screen?  I searched the forum and I don't find any information on how I can tell.  Thanks.

    For the "Arangements" option to appear, the external display must be turned on with the correct input selected and connected to the computer.  Then close system prefs, reopen, go to "Display" and "Arrangement" will be along the top.

    Hello, I have un Ipod classic of 160GB. On my itunes it displays that I have 113gb of other that occupies my memories! what is this other and how I get rid of it?

    "Other" is the measure of used space on the iPod not taken up by Audio, Video & Photos. This includes the iPod's library and artwork plus any files you may have copied to your iPod in disk mode. The overhead for the library & artwork data is typically 1-2% of the size of the media, e.g. for 1Gb of Audio & Video expect to have around 15mb of "Other". This information is needed for the iPod's operation and cannot be removed.
    If you have significantly larger amounts of "Other", not related to files you've intentionally placed on the iPod, then these are probably disconnected copies of your media files or iPod libraries left over from failed sync operations. The only way to recover the space is to do a full restore.
    If you have copies of all your media in your iTunes library this isn't a problem, but if you've been manually managing the content then you might need to try to recover the files from it first. See this post by forum regular Zevoneer on transferring files from the iPod to your computer. Some of the tools rely on the iPod having a healthy library however the manual method mentioned towards the end of the post should work regardless.

  • CCFL vs LED & Glassy vs Matte

    Is there some difference in the way CCFL vs LED & Glassy vs Matte work? I mean I understand the technology and all the specifications regarding their integration into Apple products. What I am more concerned with is the human interaction with the terms I mention above.
    So for the last week I have been working on an Apple 30" Cinema Display. I have been using it for 8-10 hours per day. With the occasional break I felt very comfortable using it.
    Today I switched over to an iMac 27" and after about 30 minutes of use I could feel some constant adjustment of my eyes. I also noticed some strain in my eyes and a minor headache.
    Now I am using these units in the same exact room where there are no windows or lights directly interfering with the monitors. Therefore this is not a concern.
    Could it be the way these two different technologies work? What about matte and LED? is it the glassy and the glossy behind it? Any input on how the refresh rates work on the LED units vs CCFL?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    One thing I would check is just the brightness. The 24" has the potential to be a lot brighter than a 30", especially an older vintage 30". So I would start with that. Try taking the 24" way down in brightness and see if that helps.
    I doubt the gloss vs. matte is a factor given your work environment of no windows and no interfering lights in the room you work in.
    There is another difference between CCFLs and LEDs in the way they operate at less than full brightness. Both are strobed as a means of dimming, but LEDs have virtually no capacitance, electrically speaking, which means they can be switched on and off really fast. The transition to off-time is somewhat smoothed or lengthened by phosphor decay time, but the on-time transition is not. The strobing is at a very high frequency, typically 360 to 400 Hz, which is generally considered beyond the range of normal perception, but it does seem to affect a fraction of the user population in a negative way of some sorts. I have heard of people reporting headaches, dizziness and nausea. Or sometimes just eye fatigue.
    It kind of reminds me of motion sickness in a way. By that I mean, we all have the same basic inner ear structure, just as we all have similar eyes. Yet what happens between the actual sense organ and the brain is what really determines how a person reacts to certain stimuli. Some people are very susceptible to motion sickness and some are not.
    Something similar appears to be going on with LED backlight flicker. Fortunately it seems a very small part of the population is troubled by LED backlighting. But that's not very helpful or comforting information if you happen to be one of the people that is.

  • What display settings do i need to change to use hdmi cable with macbook pro

    what display settings do i need to change to what tv and display my macbook pro with hdmi cable connected to computer.

    Well, if it's 1080p TV, then go into System Preferences > Displays.
    Sometimes you have to click on detect displays & a PreferencePane should appear on each display device for you to change the resolution.
    Also decide if you want it mirrored, or extended. And also move the display to the correct position for extended so you are moving the mouse in the direction of the 2nd display being the TV.
    Option + F1 = Brings Display preferences up immediately.
    Command + F1 or F2 = from memory that's the shortcut to switch back & forth between mirroring & extended.

    I am having problems launching the standalone version of Lightroom 6 after I have gone through the install and activation process? Lightroom starts to open but "hangs" before any photos in the catalgue are displayed. I have contacted the chat support twice but they have not been able to fix the problem.

    I went through the activation process yesterday and shut down my PC when I went to bed last evening. When I got up this morning and turned my PC on and then started Lightrom 6 (I upgraded from version 5) it started to launch but then just hung and became "not responsive". I I then uninstalled and then reinstalled the product today but the same thing happened. What is weird is that when I install from the standalone file I downloaded when I purchased the upgrade it looks like it's downloading the software again over the Internet? I have been having these problems for the last four or five days. I have contacted the chat support folks twice and they were able to get it working but whatever they did did not last as the problem reappeared again once the PC was shut down and then started up again.

  • What Display Gamma - 1.8 or 2.2?

    Hi,
    I'd like to hear from all you guys using Aperture, what Display Gamma do you use on your Mac (in System Preferences > Displays > Color)? All Macs still seem to ship with the gamma set to 1.8, but a lot of people seem to suggest changing it to 2.2.

    Except for WebKit-based browser (ie, Safari (Mac/Win), Omniweb, Shira) no current browser knows anything about CM and will ignore embedded profiles.
    But, if the images are always viewed in CM-aware applications, the difference between gamma 1.8 and 2.2 does not really matter too much. It still have some effect, as will the brightness setting of the respective monitor and color temperature setting and even more the room lighting.
    Calibrating your monitor and using CM-applications are the most important step, setting your gamma to 2.2, the temperature to 6500K (or even better native, which will be close to 6500K for LCDs), the brightness to ~120 cd are additional steps to standardize and optimize the viewing conditions. Having a neutral, rather dim room lighting is another important factor. Having a strongly colored wall in front of you, will noticeably shift your perception of colors.

  • What VIs do not have block diagram?

    Hi,
    I'm studying for CLAD and theres a question in the CLAD Topics details about what VI do not have block diagram?. I read in help that polymorphic VIs don´t have Diagram Block or Front Panel ( Labview help / Creating Sub_VIs). However, I can see that if I make double click in  a polymorphic VI, for example,  Read Key.vi or DAQmx Timing.vi they have front panel, moreover, they have a diagram block, so I am missing about that......
        I know too that VI express do no have diagram block or front panel, the have a configure window. If I select open the front panel option,  the VI express changes to Sub-VI and I have access to front panel or block diagram. So I think VIs express are those VIs that do not have diagram block. Am I right?
     Anyway, there a doc or paper that give me information about this topic?
    Thanks for the anwsers....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The fact that controls have the .ctl extension does not mean that they are not a VI. You could rename a .ctl file to have a .vi or .caribbean extension and it would still work the same.
    LabVIEW considers them to be VIs and displays then in the All VIs in Memory property and other places.
    Incidentally, looking at the help for the VI Type property shows the following:
    Indicates the type of VI. Invalid VI type, Standard VI, Control VI, Global VI, Polymorphic VI, Configuration VI, SubSystem, Facade VI, Method VI. LabVIEW returns the invalid VI type value for invalid VI references.
    LabVIEW returns the SubSystem value for subVIs for the LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module that you can place only on a simulation diagram.
    The Configuration VI type is not supported.
    The last two are both used for XControls and both have diagrams.
    Try to take over the world!

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • What options do I have if Best Buy doesn't honor what they sold you . . .

    This is my first time ever to post, but I am at wits end and hoping for help from the community. I have been trying to resolve this issue for 6 months. Here's my situation.
    My daugher is on her grandparents Verizon plan. Let's name her line B. I am autherized to purchase on the account. My daugher's phone was lost and she needed another one for security reasons. I called around to the Best Buys that we'd be near while travling and found one close by with the phone she wanted. The representative was excellent. Very very helpful and went the extra mile. He told me all about the edge program and how we were only going to pay an extra $10 a month for 2 years because we'd receive a $25 monthly credit. Then after 2 years we could surender the phone just pay taxes and upgrade the phone. The Best Buy representive called for apporval to make sure he could use a upgrade from line A for my daughter line B and still receive the edge. So he double checked to make sure everything would be seemless. This occured Oct 24, 2014. After the first bill it was all but seemless!!
    So in November I went to Best Buy, they sent me to Verizon, I went to Verizon, they sent me to Best Buy, Best Buy sent me to another Verizon and spoke to a supervisor. I was shown the error in Best Buys transaction. Best Buy upgraded line A to the edge but since there was no smartphone attached to line A, we did not recieve the $25 credit. Verizon sent me back to Best Buy and said Best Buy need to honor what they sold me. I went back to Best Buy close to my home. That Best Buy told me only the Best Buy I bought it from could help me. I had to call them because they are 5 hours and 6 minutes from my home. It took a few more calls before I spoke the mobile manager and he was going to investigate. Then it was the holidays and he didn't get back to me. I completely understood,. I called he and he said he hadn't forgotten me. Finally in December he told me he met with Ashley the Verison's Best Buy representive. According to him a Best Buy mobile supervision they would going to credit the account $50 for Novemeber and December. After that point we'd see the $25 edge credit. He said he'd forward me the email. I never recieved the email. I drove the 5 hours and 6 minutes to the store and he was off that day, but left a message for him to call me and please forward the email. No phone call, no forward email. So I called again, he was on vacation and wouldn't be in until after his vacation mid January. I was hopeful, but no credit on the bill in Jan 2105. I spoke to him again after his vacation and he promised to forward the email from Verison. Now it is Feb, still nothing, no email, no credit, no follow-up. I drive back there and had to speak the a store Manger, because the mobile manager has now been promoted to another area and he is off that day. The manager assures me the promoted moblie manager will contact me. But he doesn't. I call the store manger and he has the promoted mobile manager call finally me. The promoted mobile manager asks me for a copy of the bill. Fine, I get it to him. I'll have to fax it or mail it, but I would get it to him. Then the bill comes in with a $50 credit!!! Yay, I think they have it resolved, nope. April bill comes in no $25 edge credit.
    I call the new mobile manager, poor soul, he doesn't know the situation. He took my information and meet with Ashley from Verizon. He calls me back, wow, he calls me back!!! I am so thankful. Then he starts talking about Best Buy in the third person! He doesn't know what "they" told me. When I bought the phone "they" put it on line A, then "they" transferred it to line B.  He's referring to his Best Buy representative in the third person. Talking about me buying the phone's contract for $600 plus dollars. I started to see red. So I ended oiur conversation to collect myself and called him back. Poor buy! Next conversation he explains that I need to put a smart phone on line A. I can buy a new one, use an old one, whatever, but line A needs a verison smart phone on it. He doesn't know why the promoted mobile manager didn't tell me this before. But since he didn't I'm out at least $150 that no one is willing to refund me. If I give line A the iPhone from line B, I won't have a phone for line B, unless I have one or buy a new one. He was kind enough to agree this was no fault of my own, but that of the Best Buy representive sold me the first time and the promoted mobile manager for not communicating the situation. So this is Best Buy's solution - grandpa who never wants more than his ancient flip phone has to get my daughers iPhone, my daugher get no phone or I have to buy one, and I'm out at least $150 (or more depending on how long this takes to resolve). I didn't even ask but I am sure the iPhone at some point must be surendered. The store manager is aware of the situation and he will call me tomorrow, or will he????
    So, do I just accept that they made a mistake, they can't honor their deal because it is a contract with Verison and I have to pay for it? I feel helpless and frustrated. We're under contract for another 2 years.

    Hello nvtrev,
    It can be difficult to keep track of all of your belongings while traveling, and it is discouraging to hear your daughter may have lost her phone during travel. While things certainly seemed to have gone awry, I’m glad to hear that your initial experience purchasing a new phone for your daughter was pleasant.
    When our customers come to us for phone purchases, they should trust that we are able to communicate with their carrier’s systems to process a phone purchase seamlessly. It certainly seems that we may have missed something during your upgrade, causing you to miss out on the billing credit and that you’ve put forth a valiant effort to try to find a resolution to this issue.
    As I am sadly not equipped to personally take a closer look into this issue, could you please share with me the store location and any first names of managers you have been working with regarding these concerns? With the store location and manager names, I would be delighted to reach out to the store’s leadership to better research this experience to see what options we may have for you.
    I look forward to your correspondence!

    We got a new Apple TV for Christmas and it works wonderful. However, my question is this. We are on a satelitte internet system and our bandwidth is limited. Can anyone tell me what effect it will have on using up my 10 megs of bandwidth? If I run over the 10 mgs, the service either slows way down until it is reset on the first of the next month or I have to purchase additional bandwidth and it can get expensive.
    Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    If you only have a 10MB limit on the Internet connection you might as well not have Internet access and certainly should not attempt to stream anything.
    If the limit is 10GB, then you will need to be careful with streaming as most video is 1-3GB for a one hour show.
