What do you do if Creative CloudApp Mgr says it is installed but you can access the program locally?

We just signed up for Creative Cloud for my daughter's multimedia class...some programs are working but Illustrator shows as "installed" in Adobe Application Manager but it is not installed on her mac.  Of course she needs to use it all weekend for a project due Monday.  This has been a horrific experience...not a good birthday present at all.  Any suggestions?

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and let AAM reinstall the programs properly.

    Several points here:
    1. Although there is some compatibility between Numbers and Excel files, I doubt very much that "the idea of Numbers is to make it like Excel." The two applications share some similarities, but also have several differences.
    2. Your Question is unanswerable in this forum. Apple does not generally reveal future development plans or schedules for its applications, and anyone with knowledge of those plans will be bound by a non-disclosure agreement.
    3. "You need to" implies a feature request. If you want to request that a feature be added to a future version of Numbers, that request is better made directly to Apple, via the Feedback channel, than here, where the readers and responders are all users of the software, not developers. From the application menu (the "Numbers" menu in Numbers), choose Provide Numbers Feedback, then make your request for a feature to be added to Numbers.
    Meantime, if you absolutely need the macros capabilities of MS Excel, try one of the Office clones—OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice, or NeoOffice, which may offer macro support, or use the Mac version of Excel itself.

  • Adobe App Mgr on Mountain Lion says Acrobat X installed, but I can't find it?

    I have a Mac Pro early 2009 running OS 10.81.  I originally downloaded Acrobat X Pro as part of my Creartive Cloud subscription.  Then it worked as well as the other Apps I installed.  However, when I had a computer disk problem and used Time Machine to restore things, Acrobat X Pro seems to have disappeared.  It is no longer listed under Finder Applications.  The Adobe Application Manager says it is installed so I can't redownload it. 
    There is an "Acrobat X Pro" under Utilities/Adobe Installers/ but not an "Uninstall Adobe Acrobat X Pro" listed as all my installed applications have.  If I double click the "Acrobat X Pro" listing under "Adobe Installers,"  I get a window titled Uninstall Options and one line saying " -- Suite Shar ded Configuration CS6  3.2 MB" and a "Remove Preferences" check box.  However the Uninstall button is greyed out and unusable whether or not I check the remove preferences box.
    Is there any way to "uninstall" the phantom Acrobat or otherwise get things back to normal?

    Time machine restores can be tricky.  Likely your best option is to remove your Adobe Creative Applications, run the cleaner tool - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html, and reinstall.

    Does the iPod connect to other networks?
    Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?

    I do wish the cloud standard price changes to 29.99 a month for all users so everyone gets a chance to enjoy the cloud.

    I just downloaded CC, and still have all my CS6 apps as backup. Bridge CC (64-bit) is showing the same unacceptable performance I had with CS6 version. Can't believe that Adobe is so inept. I did fix the CS6 version but I forget how I did it.  CS6 version of Bridge is near instantaneous. And it's not a matter of building the cache. It takes the program forever just to respond to a simple mouse click in the menu bar.
    Photoshop CC crashed my machine, whereas CS6 version runs perfectly. Afraid to download any further apps. 
    Adobe 11 failed to install because it think's prior version of the that program is still on the computer. I never installed Acrobat 11 on this machine. Just Acrobat 10, which also got the stupid 30-day "refuse to start" bug, so I'm using Acrobat 9.5 which works flawlessly.  Funny how the newer the code from Adobe, the worse it gets for its customers.
    I'm using Win 7 Pro, 16GB mem, Nvidia 2800M video card on Thinkpad with i7-920XM chip.

    The CC does not needs any serial number, it is based on Adobe ID.

    The one I have now has the same problems. WiFi is working however 4G not at all. Apple what can I do? What are you doing for the thausands of German Apple fans who have bought a IPad4G and can not use it. We need a solution NOW. I´m working with this tool and need to be able to rely on it.

    Mac doesn't boot
    Can you hear the fans and hard drive and see the white boot screen? Flashing question mark? The circle just runs and nothing happens? Only black screen and nothing else? These can be very helpful to diagnose the source of the problem. [1]
    Flashing question mark [2]: This is usually a sign of a failed hard drive. This indicates that boot up volume can not be found.
    Black screen: This is usually a sign of a failed logic board. There is no single reason for this and this may be caused by failed GPU, screen, CPU or RAM.
    Circle of death/no circle/blue screen: This is usually a sign of a hard drive failure. This may NOT be a dead hard drive, just broken permissions or something
    Gray screen/Apple logo/spinning gear or globe/prohibitory sign/folder with flashing question mark [3]: This could be a sign of faulty hardware but more likely a software issue, i.e. broken permissions, failed software update, etc.

    What to do
    First, hold down the option key (also known as the alt key) just after you've pressed the power button. This should show all the available options to boot from, so if you have Windows installed through Bootcamp or a disk in your SuperDrive, you should be able to see them along with your OS X drive/partition. Select the OS X partition with arrow keys and press enter. Startup key combinations
    If that doesn't help continue doing the steps from below:
    1. SMC reset [4]. Shut down and unplug all cables including power cord for at least 30 seconds and then plug in power cord and keyboard/mouse.
    2. PRAM reset [5]. Hold down option, command, P and R while booting. Start it when you hear the sound and don't let go before it reboots.
    3. Safe boot [6]. Hold down shift while booting to boot into safe mode. If this works, open Disk Utility from Utilities and repair your permissions and verify the disk
    4. Hardware test [7]. Insert the install disk (disk 1 in Mac which shipped with OS X 10.5.4 or earlier, disk 2 if shipped with OS X 10.5.5 or newer) and hold down "D" before the grey boot screen opens. Follow on screen instructions
    5. Boot from install disk. Boot from the disk that came with your Mac. Hold C while booting. Select Disk Utility from top bar and repair permissions and verify the disk. Reboot normally and see if it works now.
    6. Boot from another Mac (Firewire target disk mode). Connect the machines with a Firewire cable. Power on your Mac and press T. Select the other Mac's hard drive. Download the current OS X combo update. Run the combo update installer and select the drive that won't boot as the destination.
    7. "Repair" OS X. Boot from the install disk as in point 5. and reinstall OS X. This should NOT erase any data, just replaces the system files which may have caused your booting problem. Now install the latest combo update for OS X and repair permissions on your drive with Disk Utility.
    7.1. Install OS X into an external hard drive and then boot from it [8] and try to copy your data from the hard drive before proceeding. If you have done a backup recently, you don't have to do this.
    8. Restore OS X from Time Machine backup. Boot from the disk that came with your Mac and choose the Time Machine restore option. This step will lose any changes made since your last backup but the system and your data will be put back to exactly as it was on that date.
    8.1 Reinstall OS X. Boot from the install disk as in point 5. and select Disk Utility again. Now erase the whole hard drive and install OS X again. If you had a Time Machine backup and step 7 worked you don't have to do this.

    Who is the carrier the iPhone is carrier locked with?
    If the carrier has a blacklist for lost/stolen cell phones, it would be the carrier you need to contact.

  • What frustrates you when using the "Administrator Word Bench"? (RSA1)

    Hi All,
    As a developer and user of the "Administrator Workbench (RSA1)" ... what feature makes you mumble under your breath in frustration?
    Problem: When deleting PSA requests, the dialog box does not have a u201CSelect Allu201D button. It was easy to manually clean up the PSA requests in the older AWB.
    Solution: You have several choices, neither of them is ideal and both are not as good as having a u201CSelect Allu201D button. You can either select each row/requests individually or change screens and create a temporary process chain/variant in transaction RSPC to do it.
    Problem: The u201CTransport Connection Wizardu201D functionality is a memory hog that spends a lot of time processing iterative, nested loops which means even a decent hardware capable desktop slows down and makes selecting/ticking individual nodes/objects to be gathered into a transport request a slow and un-necessary time consuming activity.
    Solution: You can stop the slowdown from occurring by collapsing the branches as you go. There is a very noticeable difference in speed if you minimise the number of open branches at any given point in time. This allows you to gather many simular objects in one cycle and then proceed to analyse them all at once by navigating the object tree one branch at a time.
    The question is only for BW Developers and Administrators who spend a fair amount of time in transaction RSA1.
    Please, politely vent your frustration at even the smallest thing.

    You need to put some time aside and remove the unused objects from the system. Usually the development system is the worst as many objects are activated but never used and never transported.
    This activity is best done in reverse to the order in which you would have activated the content.

    I would suggest a 2 phase approach to doing this.
    (1) The $TMP objects. Try once for all objects that allow you to delete them without a transport request. Take note of the objects that have previously been transported as you would be wise to do further impact analysis in the Test and Production systems before committing to deleting them from Development and transporting the deletion. For each of the previously transported objects do a quick where-used search in the Test and Production systems to confirm that it is truly not being used. The issue we are trying to avoid is that we can never know what other developers might have broken in development (accidentally) without realising and then you come along and transport an object deletion that was ok (not related) in development but is still being used in Test/Production.
    (2) Using the above list of previously transported objects, try transporting the deletion of only 1 type of object per week or per official transport cycle for move to Production. This will allow you to clean up the system with out consuming too much noticeable time from other more important activities. It will also reduce the risk of getting something wrong because boring, monotonous tasks like this one (clean up) it is too easy to get distracted and accidentally transport active objects that you did not mean to.
    Now do a clean up of unused DataSources in any source system connected to BW.
    This includes DataSources for the "Myself" DataMart where BW talks to itself.

    I don't know what version of iMovie you are using, nor the Mac OS X version (that's always helpful when posting questions).
    However, usually when iMovie has the type of problem you mention, it's advisable to firstly trash the preference file. Here's how to go about it for iMovie '11 on Mountain Lion (similar methods apply for other versions):
    Go to your Home folder <your user name>/Library/Preferences (NOT the Library folder at the top level in Macintosh HD). Similar to Lion, on Mountain Lion (10.8.3), the Home Library folder will be hidden (unlike pre-Lion OS X versions). To access it, click and hold down Go in the Finder menu bar, then press and hold down the Option key on the keyboard - the Library folder will appear in the drop down list. Slide the pointer down to Library and, as you release the pointer, the folder will open in Finder. Now you can navigate to the Preferences folder.
    In your user Library/Preferences folder, locate a file named "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist". With iMovie closed, drag this file to the Desktop. When next opened, iMovie will create a fresh preference file with the default settings (this happens in the background as iMovie is loading).
    If iMovie now opens and appears to be working properly, you can change the default settings in the menu item "IMovie > Preferences", as desired. Also, it's now safe to drag the old preference file to the Trash. Trashing the file will not harm any existing Events or Projects.
    Note that these instructions are for iMovie '11 (currently version 9.0.9). For users on earlier versions, the preference file has a different but similar name. For example, for iMovie '09 (that's version 8.0.6) the file is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Earlier versions may or may not have a number in the name, for example, "com.apple.iMovie.plist"
    If this doesn't fix the problem with iMovie crashing, please come back as I have another possible solution to offer.
