What does a service assembly consist of?

My boss is looking at the feasibilities of adopting servicemix. From reading the documentation I understand that servicemix can deploy a service on-the-fly when a "service assembly" is dropped into some designated directory. So what does this "service assembly" consist of? Is it a .jar? .zip? Does it come with .xml files? Please help ... my eyes are drying out from reading off the screen. Thanks !!!

A service assembly consists of:
- zero or more service units
- a deployment descriptor, jbi.xml
all packaged up in a ZIP archive.
Each service unit is deployed to a particular JBI component, as described in the deployment descriptor.
The service assembly is used to hold in one deployable package all the service definitions needed by various components needed to compose an "application".
A service assembly is generally created using tools, which generate the jbi.xml deployment descriptor, as well as the assembly ZIP file itself. Service units are generally created by tools as well.
The service assembly is not unique to serviceMix; it is a standard feature of any JBI implementation. In general you can deploy a compliant service assembly to any JBI implementation that is appropriately configured.

what does the "other" category consist of when syncing iPhone

"Other" data is real data that you put on your phone by using the built in apps. It is not music, not videos, not pictures and not App Store app data. It is "OTHER" meaning everything that does not fall into these categories. Such as:
    email messages and attachments
    Reminders
    Calendar entries
    Contacts
    Text messages
    iMessages
    MMS messages and attachments
    Genius data
    Music cover art
Music library database index (but not the music itself)
    Operating system settings
    Safari cache
    bookmarks
    Game Center status
    Music catalog
You will find posts from people who said they recovered over 3 GB of space by just deleting old text messages.
If you want Other to be smaller you will have to keep less data on your phone; delete old MMS and texts, delete old email (especially from the "deleted" folder), clear the cache, eliminate cover art.
Sometimes "Other" includes data corruption. If you suspect this is a possibility try connecting to iTunes and click the Restore iPhone button. First restore from backup; the Other doesn't get any smaller you can Restore again and set up as New, then add your content back separately from your backup.

    Hi,
    This is Prabhuram Devar,
    A package database consists of:
/var/sadm/pkg: This is a directory containing one directory entry for every package installed on the system.

    /var/sadm/pkg/<packagename>/save/<patchid>/undo.Z for the backout packages.
/var/sadm/pkg/<packagename>/save/pspool/<packagename>: A sparse package that is used for non-global zone install.
/var/sadm/install/contents: This file has an entry for every file in the system that has been installed through a package. Entries are added or removed automatically using the binaries installf and removef.

  • What does Network Service Inactive mean?

What does Network Service Inactive mean?

Back up all data before proceeding.
Open the Network pane in System Preferences. A list of available network services appears on the left. If Wi-Fi is in the list, select it, then from the popup menu labeled with a gear icon at the bottom of the list, select
              Make Service Active
    Click Apply.
If Wi-Fi is not in the service list, click the plus-sign button at the bottom of the list, and then select Wi-Fi from the  Interface menu in the sheet that drops down. Click Create, then Apply.
If there is a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it and enter your administrator password to unlock the settings.
If the above steps don't solve the problem, continue.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with "com.apple.airport.preferences.plist" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Restart the computer and recreate your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • What does the Service Connector do, in technical terms?

    Hello,
My client is implementing SAP for the first time, and we're setting up the SAP remote support infrastructure (SNC over Internet).
The security team is concerned with the step where the Service Connector is run on a PC to open the network connection (if not already open).
I understand the Service Connector is downloading the stfk.oez file from SAP Support web site, and then executes an RFC call through the SAP Routers.
But question is - what does this RFC call actually do, technically speaking? Is it actually making some configuration changes in the SAP Routers? If so, is there any security mechanism in Service Connector preventing an unauthorized person to make a configuration change remotely on the SAP Router(s) ?
Or is the Service COnnector merely "pinging" SAP support backbone in order to "kickstart" the connection? I can't imagine why this would be required, normally you don't need to estblish a "network connection" in this way.
Or is the RFC call creating some kind of "RFC tunnel" (??) between SAP Router and SAP support backbone, that will allow SAP to access and reuse the very same RFC connection thread with their different protocols (SAP Gui, telnet, whatever...)
I've read all dokumentation at service.sap.com/access-support and e.g. related SAP notes e.g. 35010.
Nowhere is it explained what the Service Connector actually does and what is meant by "open network connection".
Another way to ask this question is:
    - In SAP Support web site only an authorized person can configure the "service connection" and define a time window when SAP can access the systems
    - Why is there a second step needed to open the "network connection", initiated from customer's PC. Why is this step required at all?
Anybody out there who can elobarate on an answer for this?
    Thanks,
    Lars

    Hi Lars,
Would the information in the link below help you?
    https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700002294272006E
From what I understand, the only thing that Service Connector does is to "give the approval and the connection parameters" to your local SAP Router to initiate a network tunnel between your local SAP Router and SAP's SAP Router.
    I hope this helps.

  • What does the other storage consist of?

My macbook is saying that the internal storage is almost full.
I would like to try and clear some of my 'Other' but i am not sure what it consists of.

OmniDiskSweeper  is a freeware program that catalogs your drive and shows what you have and how much space it uses. You may find it useful. There are other similar shareware programs that are somewhat friendlier. You may find it useful to look at some of them including WhatSize and DaisyDisk.
Keep in mind that media files (video, music, & digital photos) tend to be very large while documents tend to be rather small in the greater scheme of things. Applications run the gamut from small to gargantuan. For this reason I tend to look at media first.

  • What does customer service mean at Adobe?

I am a frustrated long time Adobe customer.  I have survived the ordeal that was Adobe Premier version 4.0 and the continuing slop being marketed as Adobe Encore.  The final straw for me was over an order last Friday the 31st.  I ordered CS4 WebStandard on-line and inadvertently left the download version selected.  After submitting the order, I realized I had made the mistake and contacted the 'tech' through the chat.  The tech said I could cancel the order, but I would first have to submit the corrected order.  So I followed the directions and submitted a second order for the boxed DVD version.  The chat person then informed me that he couldn't personally cancel the first order, I would need to contact customer service.  So after the 1/2 hour wait on the phone, I talked to customer service and 'Napoleon' told me I couldn't cancel the first order since it was immediately filled and billed.  I also couldn't cancel the second order because it was still pending.  I would either have to stop payment at my bank before the billing was submitted (not possible with my bank), or call on Monday to cancel the order after it was processed but before it was sent.  On Monday, 'Michelle' at customer service (ha-ha) informed me that they could not cancel the order once it was placed, even though the order was not shipped and showed pending on the order history, but I could return it after it arrived and then they would refund my money.  Once they authorized a return, it would take a week for the refund to process.  I asked to speak to a supervisor, but Michelle said it wouldn’t do any good.  I asked to speak to one anyways and she told me I would need to call back in an hour or two.
So it takes less than 10 seconds for Adobe to debit my bank account for an online, downloadable order, but they need a week to refund it.  They also have a policy that once they start an order, they will never stop the order, even though the request is made prior to anything being boxed or actually shipping.  Perhaps a better name for customer service would be 'You customers are suckers so don't even bother calling us unless you want to give us more money".

Adobe customer service must be evaluated by the number of calls they respond to, not whether the calls are resolved.  That leads to the call center people adopting an attitude where they can say anything as long as they can get you off the phone.  Some middle management clown can then report how effective the whole thing is to his boss.  Everyone but the customer is happy and as long as you can't talk to a supervisor, the chances of you being able to rain on the parade are extremely slim.
I'll try writing a letter directly to the CEO.  Maybe he gives a crap.  At the least, maybe I'll get a meaningless form letter and can confirm that Adobe is certified SNAFU.
