What folder is the music library stored in? If all music, why 1 folder?

When I loaded music from CDs into the Library, or downloaded from the itunes store into that same library:
1.The overriding question is whether this music is always loaded into 1 file folder, specifically which one is it (\my music or is it \my music\itunes or something else), and why would it be in more than that one folder?
2. for a backup of my library - why can't I just copy that onto my external harddrive (instead of doing as article 1751 suggests which is to back up the library by consolidating the library to one folder)?
I'm just trying to understand this.

Unless you have changed something, new rips and iStore purchases go into MyMusic\iTunesFolder\iTunesMusicFolder

If you are sure all your music is in the folder we just talked about, you can skip the Consolidate step. If you have any music in other folders, due to manual activity, ripping with other programs, etc, then Consolidate will put a copy into the iTunesMusicFolder, which prevents it from getting lost when you move the library.

What version of iPhoto are you running? Assuming it's iPhoto 9 or later Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I have just upgraded from CS 6 (Dreamweaver) and now when I click on a picture on a web page in Dreamweaver it doesn't go to the folder where the photo is stored anymore. If this continues I'll have to go back to CS 6 as I have to put in alot of photos.

According to your description, you might want to check the existence of sub folder in a folder of a library using Client Object Model.

Music Library keeps reseting to ALL-ALL-ALL

I used to be able to pick an artist in my Library so that I could see what albums I have, then click back and forth between "Music" and "iTunes Store" to compare them.
I just installed update 7.3.1 (3) and now when I click back on Music the view reverts to Genre=ALL, Artist=ALL, Album=ALL.
This makes it difficult to see which albums I'm missing from an artist.

More info -
Music Library also resets to ALL-ALL-ALL when I click a playlist then back to Music. Makes it difficult to review past mix CDs when I'm trying to make a new one w/out including the same songs on it.
Also just tried this on my XP system in the office, it has the same problem.

How can I delete multiple duplicate songs at one time? I would really like to wipe out my music library and just reinstall all files. Any Help is appreciated.

Several computers sharing the music library stored on a network disk: howto

We currently have iTunes set up on a (laptop) computer. The music folder location is on a network disk (NAS). Everything has been working fine.
We recently purchased two more laptops for other family members and would like to set up the iTunes for those computers to use the same existing music folder. Is this possible? I understand that we must authorize all computers using the library to be able to play purchased music.
So far we have synced all our ipods using the one and only computer. In the future each of us will use their own laptop for syncing. Will this cause any problems regarding to the shared music library?
I guess that the playlists are stored in the itunes files, not in the music library. Due to this the playlists must be created on the new computers after the itunes installation.

You are most of the way there. The only issue will be that anything done by one machine will not be automatically updated to others. Files deleted from NAS by one machine will not be available to others anymore leading to ! next to track names if in libraries on other machines.
Files added by one machine will have to be added to the libraries of the other machines using 'add file to library' or 'add folder to library' options on menu.
Podcast subscriptions should be only files that will duplicate on NAS. Podcast subscriptions are individual to each library even if stored to same location. The files themselves well get numbered. The library will know which file to use. This allows episodes to be deleted without affecting other users.

I want to add the entire folder as there are too many individual files(songs) to add individually. It would take much too long to add each file. Sounds like the music you had on your phone was not the same music on his computer. The iPhone/iPod touch is not designed to be a storage device. When you sync with a computer that doesn't have your music, it deletes your music from your phone.
Was this music you purchased from iTunes? if so, and you are in the US, tap on itunes app, tap updates, tap purchased and tap on the cloud icon to get each song back. If you're not int he us, get iOS5 update later this week and do the same.
But you need to move your itunes library to his computer. Create a user account on his macbook pro for you. From your external drive backup, load your itunes library on it. Then sync as usual! (Don't tell me you don't have a backup for your computer!)
