What format to input $currentdate(datetime) Global Variable in Data Services Management Console?

What is the correct input format for the datetime Global Variable in Data Services Management Console?
I've tried several formats and keep getting a syntax error.
The DSMC is Version: 14.0.3.451
I'm a new user and learning as I go.

Place the global variable value in single quotes '2014.12.04 12:00:00'

I want to update the folder path\\infra\finance\production\sales\Metadata\ALL_Metadata_SALES.xls to \\Home\BIData\finance\production\sales\Metadata\ALL_Metadata_SALES.xls
when i investigated WF_Metadata_files i saw there is a global called INPUT_DIR i assume I have to change the path there. I tried to find old directory in the batch job but i cant find it and even When i give value to global variable it is still pointing to old path.
Can anybody please help me.

If having specified the value in the global variable it is still pointing to the old path there can be a couple of scenarios applicable
1. There is a different global varaiable being used for the file path
2. The filepath is hardcoded in the file-format or Excel file definition despite the declaration of the global variable.
Are you getting this error when running a dataflow within this workflow or in a script? It will be better to run the workflow in debug mode and look through the stages to find out where exactly in the workflow it fails.

I am currently developing in Data Services 12.2.
I am trying to dynamically populate the List Owner information in the option tabs of the USA Regulatory Address Cleanse by using global variables. It populates the 3553 with the variable name instead of the value assigned.
According to the Technical Manual, it is possible to use global variables in Data Quality Address Cleanse transforms:
However, you can use substitution parameters in all places where global variables are supported, for example:
Query transform WHERE clauses
Mappings
SQL transform SQL statement identifiers
Flat-file options
User-defined transforms
Address cleanse transform options
Matching thresholds
Does anyone know if it is possible to use global variables in the option tab of the Address Cleanse; if so, can you describe how it is done?

"global" variables for data slices

Hello experts,
Can someone tell me how to create a global variable which can be set for all user of a planning application?
I want to use this variable to be used by one or two users, so that they can lock the planning data by setting the variable. The variable will be used in a data slice and by changing the value of the variable, they are also able to change the range of the data slice. I thought that I found the solution, but in the end I remembered that variables are user specific and therefore has to be set for each user.
I hope that one of you has a solution (not using STS) for this problem.

I see your point and i hope this can help you.
Create a Variable of type exit which get the values for data freezing.
For example: Calmonth.
then in the Function Module, derive Calmonth making the Select from a custom table. give the rights to the two user to maintain the table for lock and unlock the planning.
Based on entries on the tables, then you can have the value for Calmonth. based on it you freeze or unfreeze the data.
of course you can use any Characteristic.
for example:
you want to freezee from 01.2005 to 10.1005. pass these values to the variable making a select from the custome table (Zfreezing) where you maintain 01.2005 to 10.2005.
if you need then to reopen the planning, then cahnge the values in the tables and consequentely to the variables.
the user can maintain entries in the tables.
When you create the table assign an authorization group and then create a role with it and assing these the two users.

In BW side, about BW variable enhancement, i alway writing code in CMOD EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001/INCLUDE ZXRSRU01.
when have many peoples change this exit, will have appear some management issues, such as when have a person changing this exit, i can't chang it. and request management also have management.
Do you know which BADI can do it and replace CMOD's exit? Please advise.

I will be traveling for 5 weeks in Turkey and I will like to be able to use my iPhone to make emergency calls and maybe be able to get 3G coverage for navigation and information purposes.

Unfortunately my iPhone is locked to Telcel, and I just got an special voice plan for Turkey from them at about $4 USD per minute, which been expensive, it's about half of what the charge would be without it.

We have installed the Datas Services 4.2 with a matching SAP BO 4.1 Installation
The Repositories are hosted on a MS SQL Server 2012R2.
The System is a Windows 2012 R2 Server
Within a Repository I try to define an ExcelWorkbook.
Within this Definition I need a
Format name,
the Directory where the Excelfile is in the File System,
the name from the ExcelFile.
To define the Access method I will use the Namend Range.
Is it possible to use for the Namend Range a defined variable with a namend Range.
I’ve tried a lot notations, but I am not able to use that Variable.
What is a possible Solution ?

Hello Friend,
You indicate to go to the Central Management Console (http://server/BOE/CMC), click the Data Services option.
Select the Configure a new Data Services Repository, complete all fields and click Test Connection. If everything is ok and return success message, click save.
The repository created will appear in your repositories list, then right click it and select the User Security option. Make sure that the Data Services Administrator Users group is present and with Full Control access. To ensure that your user has access, you can also add it through the Add Principals option. Select the desired user, pass to the other side and click the Add option and Assign Security and include Full Control permission and apply.
In version 4.2 the ability to create access groups within the Central Repository was added.
To create and manage such groups need access SAP Data Services Management Console:

Once you have successfully logged on, click the Administrator button.
On the left side there are some options, espanda the Central Repositories option and if you have properly created the Central Repository it will appear in the list.
Click User and Groups note that by default comes a set created (digroup), select the User tab and click the option later add.
Then enter the information which user, group, status and description and apply the changes.
Made these procedures you can enable your central repository through the DS Designer and create new groups.

Data Services 4.0 Designer. Job Execution but empty log file no matter what

Hi all,
am running DS 4.0. When i execute my batch_job via designer, log window pops up but is blank. i.e. cannot see any trace messages.
doesn't matter if i select "Print all trace messages" in execution properties.
Jobserver is running on a seperate server. The only thing i have locally is just my designer.
if i log into the Data Services management console and select the job server, i can see trace and error logs from the job. So i guess what i need is for this stuff to show up in my designer?
Did i miss a step somewhere?
can't find anything in docs about this.

Data services with SQL Server 2008 and Invalid time format variable

Hi all
Recently we have switched from DI on SQL Server 2005, to DS(Date Services) on SQL Server 2008. However I have faced an odd error on the query that I was running successfully in DI.
I validate my query output using a validation object to fill either Target table (if it passes), or the Target_Fail table (if it fails). Before sending data to the Target_Fail table, I map the columns using a query to the Target_Fail table. As I have a column called 'ETL_Load_Date' in that table, which I should fill it with a global variable called 'Load_Date'. I have set this global variable in the script at the very first beginning of the job. It is a data variable type:
$Load_Date = to_char(sysdate(),'YYYY.MM.DD');
When I assign this global variable to a datetime data type cloumn in my table and run the job using Data Services, I get this error:
error message for operation <SQLExecute>: <[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid time format>.
However I didn't have this problem when I was running my job on the SQL Server 2005 using Data Integrator. The strange thing is that, when I debug this job, it runs completely successfully!!
Could you please help me to fix this problem?

The ETL_Date is a datetime column and the global variable is date data type. I have to use the to_char() function to be able to get just the date part of the current system datetime. Earlier I had tried date_part function but it returns int, which didn't work for me.
I found what the issue was. I don't know why there were some little squares next to the name of the global variable which I had mapped to the ETL_Date in the query object!!! The format and everything was OK, as I had the same mapping in other tables that had worked successfully.
When I deleted the column in the query object and added it again, my problem solved.

Functional global variable

I would like to ask to the experts a question about functional global variables.
In the labview basics 2 course was said that a functional global variable is not reentrant.
My purpose is to implement a code in such a way.2 main vi's. The first vi deals with some hardware that writes data in an output file with 1 Hz rate (more or less 1Hz, I cannot decide it).
The second vi deals with a different hardware (thermocouples). This works at a different rate (I cannot match exactly the different rates). I would like to write the data from the second hardware in the same output file of the first vi.
I am thinking to use a functional global variable to pass the information from the second vi to the first vi. In this way I am using the data from the thermocouples at a rate given by the first vi. But at the same time in the global variable the data are written at a rate given by the second vi.
My question is: what exactly happens if the subvi (functional global variable) is called exactly at the same time? As you can understand it's not really important if I read the temperature with an error of 1 second, but I would not like the execution would stop or something like that.

A couple of quick comments to add to this thread.
FG's can be involved in Race Conditions if two callers attempt to direct set the same value. An Action Engine (well what do you expect?) can be coded to help with those situations.
Example:
In arecent app I needed to set the heaters to "0" if an over-pressure condition was detected. The Heater set points where driven by a PID. The safety conditions where controlled by a process monitoring the input values.
So how do I keep the PID from setting the heater when the rig is not safe?
A Safety AE !
Actions used by the pressure monitoring set the Safety AE in an "go-safe" state where setting the heaters results in a null op.
This particular pattern (two writters) screams for an AE to coordinate the vaious actions. Do this same thing with queues could get tricky.
So for the Q in this thread we have a pattern of "two source of info, one sink for each" that screams for a queue.
BTW:
The AE Nugget linked above addresses what happens when two callers attempt to call the same non-re-entrant sub-VI.

I need to use F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST FM because I have to let users select an specific option before choosing another value. The point is that I need to save in a program global variable what the user selects, and decide something with it in the program.
Is it possible that F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST FM returns the value in a sinple variable or it has to be paramter?
I look in a lot of previous threads but I didn't find anything, and I don't know if it's possible.

Sure you can. All you need to do is to store what the function returns in your global variable. It don't need to be returned back to screen field.

The attribute values are stored in the attribute columns.
1) Open the Order header screen.
2) Click on the DFF and check the DFF name.
3) Query the DFF name from the sysadmin Resp, to check the columns of attributes and the pertaining value sets.

Yes you can use substitution variables.
A Global variable in Business rules can be used across all business rules and can only be used in business rules, it has the added benefit that they can be set as run time prompts, more info at About Variables
