What is actually happening with getMoreTLAMemory() and native_blocked
I have an application that seems to periodically lock up and become unresponsive, which we end up killing and restarting. A thread-dump consistently reveals the following scenario:
1) There are many threads (18 or so) with a thread-dump like:
"a0-141" prio=5 id=0x7000 pid=5206 active, native_blocked
at jrockit/vm/MemSystem.getMoreTLAMemory(Native Method)@0xb6783d10
2) One of these threads is holding a lock that many (many!) other threads is trying to acquire. This lock is released quickly in the normal running of things, but obviously the lock-holder is blocked in some sort of memory-allocation activity.
We are currently running jrockit-j2sdk1.4.2_08, with -Xmx512m -Xms192m. We intend to run the app under jrockit-R26.0.0-jdk1.5.0_04 on the next restart.
Any hints on the nature of this getMoreTLAMemory() call, and its native_blocked state? Is the JVM in some sort of GC activity that happens to be taking a long time?

Hi,
It seems that your system is Throwing a lot of OutOfMemoryError, which you
are catching in your application. If you catch a such exception, your
application should never ignore it (catch it silently), because you can not
recover from a such exception.So you should terminate your application with
a proper message.
If you know that 512m is enough for your application, then it means that you
have memory leak in your app, and for that I suggest you use Memleak to
track it down, otherwise I suggest you increase the heap to accomodate your
application needs.

<Personal Information Edited by Host>The graphics memory increases to a max of 512 when you upgrade the RAM. The RAM is actually the most likely culprit, since it's been recently changed. Put the original RAM back in and see if your problem goes away.

Hi - for any photo, info in mountain lion shows a different file size than Photoshop does. I've tested with both CS3 and CS6 on 10.8.2 and get the same problem. This doesn't happen with CS3 and OSX10.4 or any previous versions of Photoshop and OSX. Anyone know why?
this one is actually a really rare symptom of a flaky connection to the ipod on a Windows PC. there's more going on in terms of hardware on nanos and 5th gens than in the earlier models ... so if the connection is flaky to precisely the right/wrong degree, itunes will see the ipod, but misidentify it as an earlier version of ipod.
tracking down the cause of the flakiness can be tricky ... as you already know ...
just checking. have you tried connecting with a different (known-good) USB cable? does that seem to have any impact on the rate of occurence of the problem? -

Why is it that when I am trying to install an adobe product, I get 33% of the way through and then it gives me an error "unable to load metafile"?? It happened with Reader and now with Flash player. my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple. no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple. Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac". Any ideas on how to correct this? This seems like a trivial error, but it's super annoying.
I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem. It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about. (there was a new iCloud release, hence...) No ETA for a fix yet. I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list. I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve). I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward. They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset. ;-)

As long as the cursor is in the field it stays editable.
The problem with the pen is it's in my hand all of the time. I just flip it up under my thumb against my palm to type. So, as soon as I move the pen, the field goes away and I can't type in it. Hoping this is making sense.
My tablet does have the touch function too, and I just found out I can use my finger to tap in the text field, then type. I guess that'll be my solution since I prefer not to leave a mouse set up on this iMac.
I'm thinking now that this is just a problem with the pen itself, and nothing to do with iPhoto. So glad to have this figured out! I really like iPhoto '11! So much easier for me, a simple P&S gal, than Aperture 3. I use iPhoto Library Manager too and love it!

I had installed DivX and it includes DivX Web player but, when i remove it, the problem happend. When I click on a video, the bar which contains play, stop... buttons is there. But when the video nearly play, it disapears. The problem just happen with Firefox and Chrome, but it doesn't mean with IE. Help me plz, I hate using IE just love FF but the problem prevent me from watching video on youtbe which is very terrible with me.

I'm sorry, but your sister, unless she had already turned on the "Find my iPhone" feature and the person who took the phone has not disabled it, is out of luck. She should report the theft to local police authorities, including the serial number of her iPhone. While her experience is unfortunate, there are good reasons why Apple cannot do anything else about it.
I hope she gets her phone back.

If you have AppleCare and/or iPod Nano is still under warranty, give them a call. If not, take the computer to your local Apple Store or AASP. The staff will tell you what is wrong w/it and let you know if it can be fixed after it is examined. -
What is the deal with MP4s and Itunes?
Why does quicktime and Itunes always put "This document could not be opened"/"Quicktime does not support this file type"/"An invalid public movie atom was found in this file". Only about 2 movies have work in Itunes, and one became corrupted and kept making itunes close whenever I played it. WHAT DOES IT WANT? It says it wants MP4/M4V and I've tried both.
What movies? From what source? While mp4 is more restrictive than some containers it can still hold many variants of audio and video. iTunes is limited in codec support.
