If you have AppleCare and/or iPod Nano is still under warranty, give them a call. If not, take the computer to your local Apple Store or AASP. The staff will tell you what is wrong w/it and let you know if it can be fixed after it is examined.

What exactly is wrong with iMovie 08?

I'm about to buy a new Mac Pro (first new computer since 2001... needless to say I'm very excited!) But I've been reading various threads about the new iLife and it seems that users are not at all happy with iMovie. Can someone tell me what exactly the complaints are? I plan to use my new computer for a lot of video editing (home videos, not professional use) - and I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into. I've played around a little bit with iMovie 07, and despite the fact that it's annoyingly slow thanks to my old computer, I haven't really had any issues with form or function.

No there is just one MAJOR Fault. It's NAME. It's nothing alike iMovie 1 to 6.
So if APPLE just given it a proper name all this pro resp. cons would never occured.
iMovie LE, iYouTube, iVideo or whatever just not to be mistaken for an upgrade of iMovie 1 to 6.
It is not.
BUT - It has some real nice features that would give Apple huge appreciation if
it appeared in the iMovie 1 to 6 suite.
The problem when believing it to be a futher version of iMovie is that You might
get the idea to do eg a DVD from Your material or something more elaborate than in
iMovie HD 6. Not so.
But to publish on the net - GREAT !
Apple has understood this and reacted:
• iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4) is free as a download from Apple for iLife08 owners
• The new version of FinalCut Express is price reduced by 33%
I think that this is a very good reaction. My sincere hope is for a future
development of iMovie HD 6 whom we love. Probably the most creativity expanding
product ever made by Apple.

Spinning ball when iTunes changes SOME metadata for movies -- why and can it be fixed?

I'm putting in the metadata, including the artwork, for movies in iTunes and it's driving me nuts becaue the little rainbow ball comes up and stays up the bigger the file. It's not like iTunes is rewriting the movie, is it? I don't understand why it should take 2 - 3 mintues to change the metadata. Is there a way around this?

Yes it can be moved into music videos by right clicking on the music video, selecting get info and clicking on the video tab on the top of the little window that opened up and open up the video kind menu and select music video out of the list.

My computer is going to a white screen when I turn it on. I have tried repairing it from my recovery drive and it says that my disk is ok.

My MacBook Pro (2010) has Mavericks operating system. The other day I was working in pages and all of the sudden it notified me that auto save wasn't working anymore. So I restarted my computer and it went to this white screen. I've opened up my recovery disk and repaired it and it says that the disk is ok. Yet, it's still stopping at a white screen. What do I do?

you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, select the First Aid tab if it’s not already selected, then press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it get past the white screen now?

IPod touch, only has a grey screen when I turn it on, please help

I was using my iPod Touch this morning and it was working great and had a full charge. I turned it off and came back about 10 nimuites later and tried to turn it on and I got no response. So after I tried again, it does turn on,,,but only has a greay dimly lit screen for about 10 sec. and then turns off.
Does anybody know what might have happned and how I can remedy that???

How do I turn off the tiny Shuffle-sized iPod Nano (v6 with a touch screen) when not using its iOS?

Hello and happy new year.
I decided to use this used iPod Nano (touch screen) as an eight/8 GB flash disk/storage (FAT32). I can access the files just fine. I can always restore it back to use iOS quickly and easily if needed.
However, it never seems to turn off/sleep. I tried holding down the big button on top right (next to the two volume controls [+ and -]), but it never does anything. Also, it says "OK to disconnect." when disconnected.
So, I restored its iOS v1.2 from an old 15" MacBook Pro (2008; Mac OS X 10.5.8) onto it and can turn off easily. However, I cannot access its drive since it is not a MS FS and Windows XP Pro. SP3 asked me to format. How can I turn it off and still use it as an 8 GB USB flash disk/drive without installing and using iTunes?

Hey,
Holding in the play/pause and the menu (select) button will force the iPod into disk mode. This is the stand by mode you are talking about.
To turn your iPod off properly you will want to hold down the play/pause button until the screen goes blank and then turn the hold switch on. This is cause the iPod to go to the Apple screen when it turns back on.

Can anyone help with a Green Screen Walk Out with FLV

I have seen a number of sites that use an interactive video walking out over the website. I have final cut and can create an .flv with a green screen. The problem is I do not know how to create the player for the overlay. I think I may need CS3 but I was hoping someone might have a work around.

I was able to take the source and put it into iweb as a test but I can't access the files to swap out my video.
If anyone knows how to do this with Iweb and not using CS3 please let me know.

The startup disk may need repairing ...
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.

Have you held the power button down for 10+ seconds? That should turn it off.

it is a problem with the latest update. nothing you can do will fix it, besides rolling your apple tv back to the last update.
