  • What in the name of Goodness have you done re: the full screen picture of Contacts on my iPhone? Sort it out Apple or I'm going back to Samsung, where maybe I should have stayed!

What in the name of Goodness have you done with the full screen picture of Contacts? How dare you just change it without so much as a bye or leave? This is NOT progress but a throwback to about 1997! I supposedly 'updated' to an iPhone two weeks ago. Should have stayed with Samsung I reckon. I am deeply unimpressed!

  • WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS FORUM?

What is the point of this forum when over half the questions go unanswered?
In fact, what is the point of creating and selling a product that so many people can't even install without an expert looking over their shoulder?
This really sucks! I am really sorry that I elected a major in Oracle Development.

    Erin,
There are reasons for doing controlled releases, and your implementation experience with prior upgrades is one of them.
Doing an upgrade requires the management of the underlying repository, the underlying repository has changed significantly from 309 to 902 owing to the introduction of OID and other significant changes to the architecture.
Running a controlled release allows Oracle to ensure that the final upgrade scripts when made publicly available are as solid and bug-free as possible whilst allowing those customers who wish to upgrade sooner rather than later and take part in the feedback process can do so with the knowledge that Oracle can help them should they come across any issues.
We currently have over 150 customers running the upgrade scripts and providing feedback, so much so that we are hoping to release them publicly in the very near future.
On another note, I should point out that in your post you are referring to DB upgrade versions and not Application Server upgrade versions..

  • A GOOD FORUM

    Hi,
Does any person please, know a good site for c++ forum.
I need a good forum bcos I have some problems in it that require immediate attention

  • What's wrong with the new forum design.

Thought I'd kick off the list here.
    1. O.P. can award a correct answer to themselves.
    2. Status stays hidden unless checked, making it hard on both newbies and those trying to help them
    3. No advanced search (that I can find) I've given up even trying to look, and users aren't even aware of it
    4. Difficult to see what you have or haven't replied to
    5. Can't see very far back in the threads
    6. Huge waste of space on useless quote bubbles
    7. Trying to edit your own settings takes you round in circles
    8. Where is the forum how-to and guide?
    9. Absurd to ask users to search without a suggested list to work from, the Pages iPad users are constantly landing in the wrong forum
    10. I hate the default of sending email advisories and Safari messages of answers in the forum. My Mail Inbox is inundated and I am getting constant pop-ups interrupting my work on my Mac.
…many more but I'd like to let others add to the list
BTW I give 2 thumbs up to the improved post formatting options, but that was a long overdue catch up to other forums.

Don't have time to answer all of this, but here's a start...
    1. O.P. can award a correct answer to themselves.
Useful when they've come up with the correct answer themselves. (OPs can't award themselves points, though.)
    3. No advanced search (that I can find)
https://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa (or click the blue Search button in the top right of any page without entering any text in the search field)
    4. Difficult to see what you have or haven't replied to

  • How do you find what you posted to the support forum?

Last night I posted a question about Firefox being unable to load certain https URLs, but now I can't find it. I would like to be able to find it to see if anyone has made any helpful replies. In the forum settings, I have the following checkboxes:
    Watch forum threads I start:
Watch forum threads I comment in:
Watch KB discussion threads I start:
Watch KB discussion threads I comment in:
    Send emails for private messages:
All of the above settings are checked, but I can't find where in the interface for these forums I should go to view the threads and comments that I am "watching."
I will bookmark this present support topic so that I can return to it later.
thank you for any help you can provide!

ha ha ha oh my god...
okay, thank you for the help... I see what the problem is... this web site's UI has a shortcoming...
    this URL:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/home
appears to be the home page of the forums... but it is not....
the home page of the forums is buried in a link off to the side in a list labeled "For Contributors"... I mean... by seeking help in the forums, I'm now a "contributor"? ehhh... English... It'd be nice if the UI designers would use it...
the home page to the forums is found via this URL:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions
See... whoever named that URL had the right idea... instead of
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/contributors , the person used:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions
hmmm.... now if the heading on the right said:
    "For people with questions"
then I would have scanned it more closely, and I would have noticed "Support Forum Home" in the list.
I think the fact that so many people use Firefox is really a testament to how bad the other software out there really is, not to how good the Firefox stuff is or how responsive the firefox people are... E.g. is anyone going to actually learn from my above experience, and make the support forums easier to find?
Is anyone going to actually put a link to the forums in the dashboard for the account that is used to log into the forums?
    No, not a chance...
I mean, yes, I get that the link to the forums home page is always in the footer at the right, but come on, for crying out loud... so are stupid advertisements... it's a footer or side bar or whatever you want to call it... people are trained on a subconscious level, by now, to ignore that crap. If you were going to design a forum, would you take the most important links, and put them off to the side, where they are less likely to be noticed?
This is what I see when I bring up my dashboard:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/user/630258
I mean, if you are a small time developer, with a few thousand users, you probably don't have the time or the resources to make something that's optimal... but when you have millions upon millions of users... optimizing your interface might be worth looking into.... you know... auditing the performance and effectiveness of your UI now and again might be a good idea... You take the few minutes that you waste a user with a confusing counter-intuitive non-standards-based interface, and you multiply that by millions of users, and what can I say... that's a *lot* of waste.
You don't even have an index of forum content... everything is found by searching... Imagine if you walked into a library, and they had NO catalog.. Instead, all books just tossed into a database, and the only way to find anything is by searching. That would be... just incredibly stupid.... That is what this forum interface is.

  • What flash player software is good for use with the Apple Mini?

I get "flash player missing" warning on news sites when I go to available videos. What can I do? I have a 2015 Apple Mini iOS 10 with 500 GB hard disc

There are no active reference viri in the wild for any of the hard-sold antivirus
applications to remove from the Mac OS X. You can use ClamXAV from its
maker's site (no other, as some are bad copies loaded with adware or malware)
here:    http://www.clamxav.com/   that can help isolate and remove items that
you may get from someone's email who owns a windows PC, if you do not want
to forward those to some of your friends who use windows.
A larger concern may be adware and some kinds of malware, they are avoidable
but unless you are zealous about how you use your computer gear online, it may
be possible to get several items that can make using your Mac seem nightmarish.
Here are a few links to information that are best glossed-over before an issue so
you may have an idea what you may be up against when or if you do get adware
or some other malcontent from browsing corrupted web sites. Oh, also avoid the
torrent or bitorrent sites that offer file sharing or 'free downloads' that you later will
pay for one way or another. These can be tainted with badware that starts out in
a web browser, or perhaps if you get a bad copy from corrupted download online
of a known software but not from the maker's site (such as a copy of Flash, but
not from Adobe's own site) these can be a lot of work to undo their bad effects.

For Adobe Flash, which is not installed in OS X anymore, you could get it, or see
what else may be helpful to use to see video file content. I don't use it and feel
that if there is some great need to see a video (most are like trash) the better ones
now use HTML5 or some other technologies that just work in the browser w/o Flash.
If you need Flash be careful and keep the OS X updated and be sure to get Adobe
updates for their product. Some of their products are OK, but some are bloatware.
The links I posted on how to get the Adobe Flash (adobe help pages) are ones to
note. There are other items in their site which may or may not be helpful to you.
You may do well to start a new thread, or ask and someone could ask the ASC Hosts
to move your post into a new thread of its own; then any replies to it may appear to
your email used when you set up your account with the support communities forums
if you have yours set to announce activity or replies, etc to your posts here.
If your ordered Mini has at least 8GB RAM (it would be soldered in as part of the logic
board, and so not upgradable; unlike certain former builds that allowed user upgrade)
and if it has an Apple Fusion or SSD Drive, or a hard disk drive with 7200-RPM spin
rate, then it would like be quick enough going forward a few years. More random access
memory (RAM) is separate from drive storage or system hard drive capacity; these do
different things. A computer may temporarily use storage capacity as virtual RAM, but
it would be limited by hard drive data rate speeds, that are much slower than chip RAM.
A Fusion or hybrid, or SSD (solid state drive) can speed up the system since the files
that would end up being written to that drive and then read as temporary RAM, would
be moved in faster speed, so your computer function would be noticably faster. A stock
Mac Mini with hard disk drive generally has a slower 5400-RPM rotational hard drive.
This is slower than a Fusion hybrid and much slower than an SSD. The latter is more
costly than the other choices. A fair option if it exists, is a 7200-RPM hard drive, of up
to 1TB capacity, if available as a built-to-order option from Apple when ordered direct.
(An authorized Apple service provider could upgrade the storage drives with suitable
product replacement, and not void the AppleCare warranty; an upgrade at that point
may or may not be covered under an extended (optional) AppleCare plan.
If you ordered your Apple Mini mac from online Apple Store, you have certain time
limits to return it; and depending on which country or region you live in, the rules may
be different. In the US, you have 14 days from when you get it, to change your mind
and notify Apple. If you do not notify Apple (they will authorize a return before you can
ship it back or before you could return it to an official Apple Store in person) the time
limit goes away and you then are the owner of the item. So you do have a limit if you
bought from Apple directly, online or from the official Apple Store. If you do return an
item to Apple you bought direct from them, you could call on the 13th day, providing the
day you call to start the return process is a business day & not weekend or holiday, and
that may allow you a few more days to physically return the computer to them. If you
were to return to the Apple Store online (via fedex or acceptable parcel delivery with
tracking) be sure to check to see exactly when you would need to get it back to Apple.
{If bought direct from Apple & not an authorized independent reseller, be sure to ask
    Apple sales when or if you have any issue; returns or pre-arrival, they can be helpful.}
And if you are not in the US or Canada, there still may be 14 days return, if bought via
the official Apple Store (retail location) or from the online Apple Store. This isn't available
through authorized resellers who set their own sales return policies as independent agents.
Anyway, hopefully your new Mini has sufficient upgrade to work well with Yosemite and
whatever applications you may need to load into it; some can be top-heavy in demand
of resources. That's why one has to consider the purpose prior to buying a configuration.
    Hopefully this helps you somewhat.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What's Going On With This Forum? Posted comments wait for a moderator

They wait, and wait, and wait, and wait.
Whose policy is this to screen everything before allowing posts to show up? Is that a Toshiba policy? What is Toshiba afraid of? If this is a Toshiba policy, I object. I object very strongly. Strongly enough that I'm just about tempted to pack up the mini notebook and ship it back to B&H and buy a different brand where the manufactor doesn't censor the support forum.
Let's see if this shows up.

    Hello Edmund
To be honest I don't understand your question. As I can see you have posted 40 times until now.
Be honest and tell us how often you saw message like this:
*Please note, your reply will need to be approved by a moderator before it is posted in the forum.*
Probably first time now. I have noticed that sometimes forum is closed for postings but there must be some reason why moderator do this. At the moment you can write what you want.
There is no reason for panic or comments about Toshiba policy.
Every serious forum has own policy and this forum is more than serious. Isnt it?
So it is nothing unusual and it can be done due to some technical or any other reason.
Look a little bit what people write here and you will find very critical postings but nothing is blocked or edited by Toshiba so I think this forum is free and democratic. Your posting is also published.
In my opinion it is the best evidence that your critic and opinion about this forum and Toshiba forum policy is completely unjustified. Do you agree with me?
    Good luck!

  • What printer scanner is a good match with IMac

    Hi
So I have a brand new IMac OS 10.9.2.
I also have a brand new HP Officejet 6700 printer/scanner.
Printer works fine on wireless. The scanner however will not scan to the computer. Message on the IMac is that there is no document in the scanner. If I try to initiate the scan from the HP it does not list the IMac as an option to scan to. I can scan to a USB and copy from it. but this is for a small bussines and I cant be waisting my time with that.
I am happy to buy a new printer/scanner but I do not know which one is a good match.
I have been to three major stores and in each the sales person has been adiment that HP is the best. But they are not aware of the issue above. So I have asked them all to show me one working and they cannot get it to work. When I or they research the internet reviews & forums we get the same thing. There is a big issue out there with the HP scanners not seeing the IMac, but it would seem the sale people do not know about it. So how then do trust there opionion on other printer/scanners do they actually know that they will work.
I dont want to be messing around waisting valuable time re-programming either device or changing 20 odd settings to achieve nothing. I'm not particularly computer savvy. I just want to buy a printer/scanner, plug it in and use it and have it do what it says on the box.
So can someone who knows their stuff please advise me on a good economic printer/scanner that matches well to an IMac.
P.S I scan and print documents regularly not high quality photos

I'm using a Brothers MFC-J4610DW and it works very well with my Mac running 10.9.2. But it does not list the Mac as a Scan to device and that is because of Apple not the printer or the drivers, software. It is a OS X restriction.

  • Whats the difference between  MobileMe Mail forums 960 and 961?

There are two MobileMe Mail forums. One is under "MobileMe on www.me.com" and the other is under "MobileMe on my Mac". There isn't really a new desktop mail application is there? Or am I living in a cave, and just didn't notice the update/announcement?

    Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're seeing ...
No I think you understand. It is just that I've been reading some of the posts in those forums, and it is often hard to tell what exactly people are talking about. The terminology used made me think maybe I had missed something. Maybe there was a MobileMe Mail App on my Mac, I thought that could 'sync' something.
    Examples:
[Where has 'Mail Rules' gone..?|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7645781#7645781] seemed to be describing a webmail interface, but then I wasn't sure.
[Mobile me mail doesn't work at all.|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1616729&tstart=0] mentions mail on the web, but then addresses
[Syncing Mail Folders w/ MobileMe|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1616331&tstart=0] mentions syncing mail folders; made me think maybe there was a feature I had misunderstood.
In general, it is a little hard to tell when people are talking about the web interface or the traditional desktop Mail.app.

  • Updating from 10.2.8 to 10.3+ .... What to expect? (the good & bad)

If I'm making the upgrade from my current OS 10.2.8 to OS 10.3+ (10.3.9 probably), what are some of the problems that may occur, if any?
I have alot of software on my eMac (Adobe, Apple, Microsoft, misc. etc. - 72 applications in total), that I am worried about loosing through an upgrade. What is the best procedure to use (with the Apple 10.3 installer) to avoid as many possible problems as possible?
Also, I have two LaCie external hard drives attached, are there any precautions that should be taken with the OS 10.3 upgrade for these as well?
Obviously, I want to spend as little time doing the upgrade, but have a feeling I will be attempting to fix upgrade problems for weeks, or months after the OS 10.3 upgarde is made. This is why I have stayed with the OS 10.2.8 on this eMac.
Any advice, or serious issues to watch for on upgrading to OS 10.3+ would be appreciated.

    Hi DavidMac!
Although I agree with Kappy & Gulliver, that your questions have been asked and answered numerous times, I'll once again post some information.
Your computer specifications will be a determing factor, of which version of OS X you can successfully upgrade to.
If your eMac meets the system requirements for the OS, precautioary measures, like a backup, are taken, and the upgrade is done properly, you should not encounter any problems.
But regarding your Third-Party applications, you should check to be sure, that there are upgrades, to make them compatible with the newer OS version, before upgrading your system.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
Once an OS has been installed, the point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.8 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Panther, is no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.
The discs should look like the images in the above links, unless purchased from AppleRescue.

Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.
And then use the PPC 10.4.8 Combo Update, to upgrade to the currrent version.

    Additional Panther System Requirements
    Tiger System Requirements

  • What exactly are the updates good for on an ipod

I ask because mine is windows format, and im having trouble transferring all the metadata off my ipod with senuti to a back up so that i can reformat the ipod to mac and then sync in my senuti backed up library. I was wondering if anyone knows what exactly are the updates that you get. my ipod is 1.2 5thgen.
If i were to have the latest update would i be able to see album cover art view when the ipod is plugged into itunes? I noticed that i can see that view in library mode but not in ipod mode. (my pod isnt synced)...
so what are these updates good for?

    hey thanks for your reply.
I do have it set to manual and i can see the art on the ipod by itself, but even with manual transfer itunes wont let me view the artwork modes unless i am playing off my computers library (which doesn't have the songs on my ipod on it). I called apple earlier today and some tech support guy claimed that itunes does not support this feature. Is this correct? can anyone out there see artwork modes on an unsynced ipod through itunes?

  • What you suggest as a good summary of ADF Java classes? What about a detailed reference?

    Hi everyone,
When I was a forms developer, I was quite familiar with the built-ins. Now that I am learning JDeveloper, I am trying to get acquainted with the various Java classes that support ADF development. A summary of classes for the model, controller, and view layers would be very helpful. One document that is good (which is included in the documentation below) can be found here: ADF Equivalents of Common Oracle Forms Triggers.
As far as reference materials, these two seem to be good:

Shay ha blogged about adf learning path here https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/how_do_i_start_learning_oracle_adf_and_jdeveloper he mentioned some good commercial books.
Beside of these commercial books you only can read the various thread here in the forum or blogs about themes you find interesting and want to explore in more depth.
