What is importance of Account group in customer code create?

Dear Experts,
whlie creating customer code we have difference types of Account group , what is  the importance ? what is mean by bill- to party , sold-to party . i am very new to SD please guide me
regards
rajakarthik.

Hi Raja
First, try to understand "Customer".
"Customer" is actually one type of Business Partner.
If you will tell simply "Customer", then it does not make a complete sense to me, as in business, I will be interested to know, which "Customer" you are talking about.
Beacuse, there are four types of Customer. The Customer Partner type is categorised as per the function performed by them.
The Customer, who places order is called -- SP (Sold-to-party),
the Customer who receives the goods is called -
SH (Ship-to-party),
who receives the Bill is called -- BP (Bill-to-party) and
who makes the payment is called --- PY (Payer).
SP, SH, BP and PY are called "Partner Function" (i.e. Function performed by the Partner "Customer").
If you will take the example of a small business, you will find, the same person is placing the order, receiving the goods, receiving the bill and making the payment also. That means, he is performing the role for all the functions SP,SH,BP and PY.
But, if you will go for a big Corporate, you may find all four may be different. For example, Delhi office is the SP, Mumbai office is SH, Kolkata office is PY & Chennai office is BP.
All the 4 Partner functions are mandatory in a sales process, they may be performed by one partner or by four different partners.
As all the above Partner Functions are mandatory, they need to exist in the system as a Customer. A customer exist only when a master data is created for him.
ACCOUNT GROUP
You must have seen ,when Billing document is saved, there is posting takes place in Accounting.
A Debit posting to Customer account and credit posting to Revenue account. It indicates that, Customer is also considered as an "Account" in FI.
So, a group of Account (customer) behaving in a similar manner are one "ACCOUNT GROUP". Those different Account Groups are normally created in FI. There are various Account groups like 0001(Sold-to-party), 0002(Ship-to-party) etc, and you can create your own also.
When you create a Customer, system needs to know, what type of Customer (Account) you are going to create. System gets this information through "Account Group". If you want to create a Customer who will work as a Payer, then you need to choose the Account Group "Payer" and not '0002- Ship-to-party".
A "Payer" needs the billing and Payment related information, he does not require Shipping related information. Hence, the Shipping tab is not found totally in the customer master of a "Payer". Similarly, those fields which are not required for a particular type of customer, they are suppresed (made invisible).
Which fields will be mandatory, optional, suppressed & display purpose only, are decided/ controlled by the Account group and this is what we call "Field selection" which is controlled by Account group (one controlfunction of Account Group).
Similarly, when we save a Customer master, the customer number (either internal or external) comes from the "Number range" which has been assigned to the Account group. There are few other functions which are also controlled by the Account group like whether "One-time customer" default output etc.
That means without specifying an "Account Group", you can not create a Customer as now you know, Account group controls the Customer master data.
Hope, this explanation will create your doubts in a simpla manner.

  • Account Group of Customer representing Ordering Sales Org. in Intercmp Bill

    Hello everyone
As a standard process, we are implementing Intercompany Billing cycle.
    1) Sales Org 1 orders goods which are shipped by plant of a different company code.
    2) Thus in the end when Delivering Plant raises an Intercompany Invoice to the Sales Org1, the Payer on the Invoice is the Customer Number tied to the Sales Org1 in IMG config.
Now my questions is regarding the account group of that customer.
Should that customer be of account group = 0001 (Sold to party) ...or something else ?
Also can customer of account group ICBF be used ?
    Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks
    Vin

    Hi Vinit
Customer account group = 0001 (Sold to party) only we have to extend the inter company customer to ordering company sales area and we have to assign this inter company customer to ordering sales organization
I hope itu2019s helpful to you.

  • Creating "Payables Account Transaction" using custom code

    Hi Gurus,
I need a help. I have a requirement that I have to create "Payables Account Transaction" using custom PL/SQL code. Kindly could you advise me as to which API or Package should i use to get this done. Currently I am in 11.5.10.2.
    Pls help me on this.
    Thanks,
    Genoo

    Hi Genoo,
As mentioned I would reverse the standard journals coming from Payables, that way you can still see what the original journals were and drill back using them. So you don't do anything in the subledger.
Alternatively if you wanted to get more risky, when you run the Payables transfer to GL, you could choose not to submit journal import and then you could manipulate the AP Journal records while they are still in the GL_INTERFACE (as they also go through that table) prior to going to GL, then you could do whatever you want - and if you don't delete them (but update / copy them) they will still retain the drilldown links back to AP.

  • Vendor Account Group & Range Vendor Codes

Hi, The users want to know as to how can we determine the Account Group to which the particular Vendor belongs. Is there a report that would give the Vendor Account Group assigned to a particular Vendor Master?
Also how can we know the range that has been defined to the Vendor Masters - i.e. automatic coding or manual coding.
Your help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You can see the info about AcctGroup in LFA1 table (SE16N transaction or build a SQVI for this). The number ranges are stored in NRIV table (KREDITOR object name). In the table T077K you can see the assignment of AcctGroup to a  number range. Thus, combinig this info in a simple query, you can build a report.

  • Account group in the customer master record.

    Hi .
Why we have to use the ACCOUT GROUP For customer.
Account group differs for sold to party, ship to party, bill to party and payer.
but when we create a sales order if we enter the sold to party automatically the ship ,bill and payer will be taken by the system.
can any one give me the sufficient solution for this.
    thanks

    Hi,
For customer creation ACCOUNT GROUP plays a vital role.
Based on this Account Group only, concerned Fields will be activated. Thats why, when we create a Sold to pary it will ask for much information in all the tabs, where as, for ship to, bill to and payer all these fields are not required.
using the path : IMG -> Logistics General -> Business Partners -> Customer -> Control -> Define Transaction Dependent Screen Layout -> double click on Create Customer (sales)
here you can activate or make mandatory or optional all the fileds which are available in different tabs of the customer master.
And This you can do based on account groups also
Goto T.Code OBD2, select the account group (say 0001 sold to) and you can activate make which are all the fileds required for that customer. Like this you can do for all the account groups, so whenever u create the customer master based on that account group only those fileds will be asked by system.
For sold to party, we require all the info like sales, shipment, billing and parnter funtion. But for ship to you need only shiping data, for bill to you need only billing data, for payer you need billing also. for all these general data is required.
And where as for your second query, when you create a sales order automatically ship to, payer , bill to will come automatically based on what you maintaine in the sold to customer master. By default when you create a sold to, partner functions will be taken as the same for ship to, bill to , payer. Then you have to create different customers using account groups shipto, bill to and payer and those customer numbers you maintain in the sold to customer master -> Sales Area data -> partner functions.
Then whenever you create the sales order, differnt customer will be picked based on that data.
    Hope this is clear.
    Thanks

  • What is account group? how to definf

what is account group? how to definf

    Dear deva
You must assign each account to an account group. The account group ensures that only the relevant screens and fields are displayed and ready for input for each of the customer’s different partner functions. For example, the address, communication, and bank data fields are omitted for the account group for one-time accounts.
You maintain the account groups in Customizing (IMG), or copy the defaulted account groups.
    The account group controls:
The type of number assignment used for the account number
A number interval from which the account number is chosen. The system uses the account number to identify the customer.
Which fields are displayed when you enter or change customer master data and whether or not an entry must be made in these fields (field status)
Whether the account is a one-time account
To create a master record, you have to specify an account group. The account group cannot be changed once you have created the master record. Your system administrator, however, can change the above account group specifications.
For more information about account group specifications, see the Define Account Groups with Screen Layout activity in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
For instance, if you implement Sales and Distribution (SD) after implementing Financial Accounting (FI), changes to an account group may be necessary if you wish to add fields that were previously hidden in the master record.

  • Pricing Date & Account Group

    Hi
what is Exact use for Pricing Date in Condition Type?
Why does account group control customer?
    regards
    [email protected]

    Dear Mohammed
    a)  Pricing Date
The pricing date is the date defined by date-dependent pricing elements such as conditions and the foreign currency rate.
Enter the identification code for the date to which a condition of this type is to be calculated in the sales document. If you do not enter an identification code, the pricing date or the date of services rendered is used.
For example, It is a good idea to use the goods issue date as the calculation date for freight surcharges. In this case, you enter 'A' as the identification code
    b)  Account Group
May be it would be appropriate if you asked "how", instead of "why".
The master records in the customer hierarchy are controlled by their account groups. You can use the same account groups for customer hierarchies as those used for partner determination in sales and distribution.
An important requirement for proper sales order processing is that each customer can only include those functions relevant for him in a document. You can achieve this by assigning permitted partner functions to an account group.
    Thanks

  • Block One-time Vendor Account Group

    Hello,
I would like to block an One-time Vendor Account, but at the transaccion OMSG there is just the option to eliminate.
Deleting the account group is the only choice or there is another way to make it?
If I delete a one-time vendor account group, I would like to know what are the risks and advices to tell may customer.
    thanks,
    Kathia Tsuboi

    Hello,
There is no blocking of option to one time vendor. It is used for a single time and no further use of this one time vendor account. When you create one time vendor, just an vendor account number gets created and when prepare transaction data like invoice, the one time vendor address gets filled in.
I would NOT recommend to delete the one time vendor account group, they may result in invalidate your master data. Therefore, not to delete the vendor account group, but you should create alternative one time vendor account group, if the requirement insists.

  • Parnter Function -  Account Groups

Question - What configuration limits which account groups that can be used with a partner function on SD documents?
I have configured a new partner function to use on an inbound delivery document. The assignment is working fine but I'd also like to limit the entry to only be valid for a specific vendor account group. This should be standard SAP and the error received when someone enters a different account group is "Partner from account group XXXX not permitted for partner function XX".
Defining Permissible Partner Roles per Account Group sets the limitation on the Customer partnership but not the SD document.
I can not find the configuration point for this limitation. Can anyone point me to it?
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Hi
This can be configured in the Partner Determination Procedure. Here we specify the partner functions allowed to this account group and then we assign this account group to the partner determination procedure. Unless it is not specified in the procedure, the partner function is allowed for this account group.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • Account group & pricing procedure

What is account group field when we create customer?
I am creating a standard sales order and there is error message saying "no pricing procedure could be determined" what does this mean? did i miss some step when i created customer or material?

    The account group determines:
    - The data that is relevant for the master record
    - A number range from which numbers are selected for the master records
An account group must be assigned to each master record.
When you are creating new customer record, you have to select one of the account groups i.e. sold to party, bill to party, ship to party, payer etc.
When you create customers with different customer groups, you observe that data required is not same and numbering of records is different.
You got the error because you did not declare the pricing procedure for your sales area.
To assign pricing procedure go to transaction OVKK
click new entries and enter following info
sorg(sales organisation): enter your sales organisation
dchl(dist channel): enter your distribution channel
    dv(division): enter your division
DoPr(document pricing procedure from document type): for example A
CuPP(customer pricing procedure): this comes from customer master record. enter what you entered in customer sales area tab, cust.pric.proc field
    PriPr(pricing prodecureP): forexample RVAA01
    CTyp(condition type): PR00
    save it
    This should solve your error
