What is in "other" being stored in my iphone 5?

I recently replaced my old iphone with a new one, via applecare, and am still trying to sync everything back.  The new one is without ANY of my old music and the "Other" section on the iPhone storage bar is exceedingly full, like 9.21 gigs.  Do these two things correlate?  How can I get my music back to where it belongs and clear the "other" section?
thanks

What do you mean?  I may be a novice in all this, I thought I restored everything when I changed my iphone over to the new one?  now, the new one has zero music content and 9 gigs in the "other" folder...I am afraid if I "restore," it will mess up something else??
A restore should reset music and all?
thanks

Can anyone tell me what the "other" category is when syncing the phone?
I am talking about the bar across the screen that tells you how much space each category uses.

Data such as iPhone settings, SMS/MMS/iMessages, email including attachments, contact info, calendar events, notes, Safari bookmarks/history/cache, and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app.

    Hello Jamel86
Hold the Sleep/Wake button and Home button for 10 seconds to restart your iPhone. If that does not work, try and restore by using the second article below.

I was playing games with my iPhone while charging it and when I'm done playing, I plugged it to a different outlet then it all went blackout and it won't turn on again. It doesn't work even if I charge it or attach it to the computer. Can you please give me other options to resolve this problem? Thank you.

try holding down the power and home button at the same time until you see the white apple logo and then release.  This should reboot/reset your iphone.

  • HT204053 can i acess my icloud to see whats being stored ?

can i access my icloud account to see whats being stored ?

    Hello real humper,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iCloud: iCloud storage and backup overview
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12519?viewlocale=en_US
    Here’s what iCloud backs up:
Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and booksYour iCloud backup includes information about the content you have purchased, but not the purchased content itself. When you restore from an iCloud backup, your purchased content is automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore based on iTunes in the Cloud availability by country. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the store.
Photos and videos in your Camera Roll
    Device settings
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
iMessage, text (SMS), and MMS messages
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemail
Your iOS device backup only includes data and settings stored on your device. It doesn't include data already stored in iCloud, for example contacts, calendars, bookmarks, mail messages, notes, shared photo streams, and documents you save in iCloud using iOS apps and Mac apps.
    Best of luck,

This doesn't really answer my questions.  How do I reduce storage?  What's being stored in iCloud anyway?  Just what's backed up on phones and iPad?  Do I increase storage through my laptop in which case I click on the OS X or the iPad/Phones which is IOS.

Your iCloud account stores your iOS device backups as well as your synced data (contacts, calendars, notes, etc.) and iCloud email (if you have an iCloud email account).  You can see how much is being used on your iPad by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage.
If you want to purchase more iCloud storage, you can do this on any of your iOS devices or computers that are signed into your iCloud account, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4874.

when I see the usage on my iPod touch 4 they have categories for how much space is being used where. What does the "other" category contain? Like what could I delete on my iPod to get rid of the "other" category?

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
    First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
    as recommended by:

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • Applications not being stored with other media.

I have an iPad and phone with apps for both. I recently moved to a new machine with an SSD so I put my music library on a secondary drive. That worked fine but now my applications I have for the pad and phone are being stored on the SSD with itunes instead of in my media folder like the videos and music. It's like 10 gigs so that's no good. Do I have to install itunes on a secondary drive to get the apps off the SSD?

    No input?

  • VOFM Custom Routine - Wrong values being stored in the database

    Hi Experts,
I am using a requirement routine in my Z condition type.
In invoices for new sales orders, the condition is coming directly at the line item level.
In the older open sales orders, at the time of creation of invoices we are manually entering this condition type at the header level. We don't enter any value at the header level.  The routine calculates the values properly when we go to the line item condition tabs. But after saving the invoice, in change mode the value is being displayed as 0 against this condition type.
In case we enter the condition type at the item level, the same values are being displayed and the values get saved correctly. But since the number of line items are generally more than 100 at the invoice level, the users can't be expected to enter all condition type for all the line items.
I am writing the code in the form kobed_903. form kobev_903 is not accessed. SAP notes says that kobed is for the header and kobev for items. Can anyone suggest what am i doing wrong.
I am saving values as below.
read table tkomv assigning <f_komv> with key knumv = komk-knumv
                                                 kposn = komp-kposn
                                                 kschl = 'ZVPR'.
    if sy-subrc eq 0.
      <f_komv>-kbetr = 'Calculated Value'.
      <f_komv>-kwert = 'Calculated Value'.
      <f_komv>-kwert_k = 'Calculated Value'.
      <f_komv>-waers = 'AED'.
      <f_komv>-kwaeh = 'AED'.
    endif.
    *The form ends with
    sy-subrc = 0.

If I enter the condition at the item level, the invoice saves the value. But if I enter the condition at the header level, the value is being displayed at the item level by performing the necessary calculations but it does not save. So I am changing the value of KHERK from D to C in the row of TKOMV for this particular condition type. The values are being stored now but is this advisable?
    Thanks,

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • AD dates being stored as BC dates

We are on 10.2.0.4 and have a front end that is developed in Java w/ Hibernate as the data access layer. We are having a problem w/ dates randomly being stored as BC dates. Example, a user finishes a business process so the system is supposed to record the sysdate in the date field. It does excopt is it 12-APR-2010BC if you retrieve it using to_char(date_fiield, 'DD-MON-YYYYAD'). What could be causing this?

A bug in your application code? A bug in the data access layer code? It's impossible to say, without taking a systematic deep dive into what's going on.

is there a list of contents being stored in the iCloud?

Not all in one place no. Individual apps may store data there. As far as I know you'll need to inspect each app to find out what. There there is your iTunes purchase history and iTunes Match if you are a subscriber. What exactly were you looking for? Does this answer any questions? http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
