What is in other that would take up 4 Gb?
I have less on my 3GS than before update and less free space now. I don't get it. Any ideas? Also other says 4 Gb and I turned off bookmarks so what else would be in other?
It means some of the data that was re-transferred to your iPhone has some corruption and not being read properly such as being video, apps, or music.
The only way to resolve this is by restoring the iPhone with iTunes.

I have created a email in Fireworks and wanted to make a line of text a hyperlink that would take the viewer to a page on my website. I want to attach the final document to my email and sending it out.
1) design for no wider than 600px (otherwise it may not fit in email clients).
2) Slice up your newsletter design in segments for images and html areas with the slice tool.

7) open the newsletter with working external images in Chrome or Firefox. Select the entire page content (ctrl-a), and copy it (ctrl-c).
8) create a new email in your mail client. Place the cursor in the body. Paste the newsletter (ctrl-v).
9) send your newsletter to hundreds of recipients, and get blacklisted by several email servers. Receive warning messages from your own hosting provider not to spam other users' email accounts.
10) realize this is too much of a hassle, and instead opt for a service such as MailChimp.
(The result in (9) depends on whether you sent out your newletter only to acquaintances, or not. But even then you might be warned off.)
Btw, many email clients turn off images in an email by default. You must provide the most important content as html, not as images. -

I have been looking around for about a week now trying to find a product that would provide the following:
A JSP engine like tomcat, however that would support multiple connections from multiple accounts for a web hosting business. Security is one of the most critical thing in this.
I would appreciate if anybody would like to share this information, which product do web hosting companies normally use to provide JSP hosting?

I'd say shop around. My company is a Java hosting specialist. We have our Java servers set up out of the box, and the company is run by Java developers.

What is the "other" that is suddenly taking up so much space on my hard drive?
How do I find what is the "other" listed on my hard drive and clean it up? Seems to be taking almost 80gb's of space now. Also on my iPhone and iPad, although much less space is being taken.

I have reset the device and have opened the music icon and the only thing I can see are the songs I have bought and have on my iPod.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

I have an ipod with 1000 songs and I transfered them to a mp3 player, when checked my library for duplicates, all the songs appreared twice, now I am afraid to add more songs and sync my ipod.
Manually sync. This way, you will be making sure no duplicates will sync over to your iPod.

I'm not very tech-savvy. My iPhone is backed up on my computer and all my photos are in my computer. I'm going to send it away to have the screen fixed and the people from AppleCare recommended to back it up just in case. So, I am going to backup my computer for the first time since I bought it in mid 2011. I go see how much space I need and I see that I only have 15 GB of memory space left and this huge space being used up by "Other". I don't know if its because I updated it to Mavericks. How can I see what that is? Also, I've never downloaded movies so I don't know why that is also there. Please help ASAP!
I added a photo."Other" is everything that isn't in one of the other categories. For instance, it includes all your user documents that are not movie, audio, or photo files.
Regardless of that, you need to use an external drive at least large enough to backup your entire user folder (the one with a House icon). Better is to get one at least as large as your built-in drive & use something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! to clone the whole built-in drive to it. -

So i did a restore. Then I had 14.4.
I opened Google maps and it went to 15.5.
Yesterday I did some mapping with google as well. again the size went up.
My theory is that Google maps caches the maps you use.
However there is no way to clear the google cache.
I also cleared safari cache and that had no affect.
Since then I have been monitoring the other usage. It is still on a steady upward pace. I hope I dont have to reload to reclaim space again.
Maybe this is something they will fix.

Other can be Album Artwork, Notes, Contacts, Firmware etc. or (and this doesn't apply to the iPod Touch or iPhone which don't have the option to enabled for disk use), files that are on there if you are using the iPod as a removable storage device. If you feel that Other is being incorrectly reported then try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes

Open your iPod in Windows Explorer and make sure you deleted all of the files you were transferring. -

Hi need help! Purchased iphone5 and I have recieved a message saying that I have to back-up the phone as it has "never been" backed up. I proceeded to "back up now" to icloud and the phone went into back-up mode as it should via my wi-fi connection. However I am now recieving a message saying that the back-up has "about 32 hours remaining" and as I didn't realise that a back-up would take this long I was wondering what will now happen if I press the "Cancel Backup" button? Will I lose any information from my phone i.e. contacts, calendars etc all the important stuff ? Or will the back-up just cancel without actually backing up any info at all and that I will then have to try again at a later date or back-up through itunes? Heeeeeelp please !!!!

I have been trying to back up my phone and got a message that it would take 8 hours. I let it go over night and when I looked at it in the morning I got a message my data couldn't be backed up. I though my phone had 8 GB. If I have too much data what items should I delete in order to have my data backed up? I have deleted most of my pictures so I didn't think I had that much data to back up. If any one has experienced this please advise. I think my battery is about to die and I want my data back up ASAP.
